Cranmer Earns First Victory as Tigers Defeat Dallas

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. Sophomore goalkeeper Valerie Cranmer earned a victory in her first career start as the Colorado College women's lacrosse team defeated the University of Dallas, 17-2, on Sunday at Crusader Field in Irving, Texas.

Cranmer made three saves, all in the first half, as the Tigers improved to 3-1 with their second consecutive victory. CC has won all five games against UD since the series began in 2004. The Crusaders dropped to 0-3.

Junior defender Natalie Abel scored a team-high three goals to pace Colorado College, which got tallies from 10 different players. Senior attacker Mallory Newton had two goals and two assists, while Amanda Howard, Claire Preston and Mariko Blakeley each found the net twice. Sophomore midfielder Kristin Rider had three assists.

The Tigers were in control from the start, out-shooting UD 18-8 and posting a 17-5 advantage in ground balls in the first half while building a 12-1 lead.

Colorado College will play host to the University of Northern Colorado club team on Friday, March 8.
