Siena Stumbles Against UAlbany

Loudonville, N.Y. - Six UAlbany players tallied multiple goal performances as the Great Danes defeated Siena women's lacrosse 18-8 this afternoon at Siena Turf Field. Lindsey Rosecrans and Courtney Highsmith each notched two scores for the Saints (1-2).

The Great Danes (2-1) raced out to an early 6-0 lead just ten and a half minutes in following a Tee Ladouceur goal. Ladouceur led all scores posting a hat trick while totaling four points. UAlbany extended their lead to 10-2 heading into intermission.

In the second stanza, Siena fought back scoring six of the first nine goals to pull within 13-8 at 14:01 mark following Highsmith's second goal of the game and fifth of the season.

But the comeback attempt was short lived as UAlbany responded with five unanswered goals to close out the game.

The Great Danes doubled up the Saints in shot attempts (38-19) in what was an extremely physical game marred by 57 total fouls, 39 of which were whistled against UAlbany.

Caitlin Mikel and Kathryn Marcantonio also added two points apiece to the Saints offensive efforts as each tallied a goal and an assist.

In addition to Ladouceur's hat trick for UAlbany, teammates Christine Grueniger, Stacey Brown, Brittany Scott, Kayla Best and Jane Bush each tallied a pair of goals.

The Green and Gold return to action with the culmination of a season-long five game, five state, 15 day road trip which begins on Wednesday March 12 at Binghamton. Game time is slated for 6:00 p.m.
