#7 Western New England Begins CCC Play with Victory
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Senior Bryan Cofrin (Londonderry, NH) and freshman Joe O'Keefe (Branford, CT) each had two goals and two assists as the Western New England College men's lacrosse opened its first season in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) with an easy 12-2 victory over visiting Nichols Thursday night (March 6).
Senior Mike Kelly (Cheshire, CT) and junior Scott Kukis (Sudbury, MA) each added two goals and an assist while junior Brody Savoie (Wilbraham, MA) contributed his first two goals since the 2006 season.
Seniors Travis Brown (Chapel Hill, NC) and Brian Praetorius (Saugerties, NY) netted the other goals for the Golden Bears who improved to 2-0. Senior Chris Body (Newtown, CT) (three saves) and freshman Ben Barlow (Newport, RI) (eight saves) combined for 11 saves.
Western New England College held an 8-0 lead at halftime and scored 12 unanswered goals before freshman Ryan Pacific (Danbury, CT) tallied both goals for the Bison who were playing their season opener. Freshman Justin Berrett (Plymouth, MN) finished with 12 saves.
