Washington & Lee Breezes by Hood

FREDERICK, Md. -- The Washington and Lee mens lacrosse team jumped out to a 5-0 lead after the first quarter and cruised to a 15-1 victory over Hood College on Monday afternoon.

Senior attackman Will Englehart (Cockeysville, Md./Dulaney) scored a pair of goals and assisted on another during the first period barrage for the Generals. In all, 10 W&L players found the net en route to a 15-0 lead before the Blazers (0-6) got on the board with an unassisted tally by Dominique Shorter with 41 seconds remaining in the game.

Englehart led the Generals (3-2) with three goals and two assists, while senior attackman Ned Rider (Manakin-Sabot, Va./Collegiate) posted three goals and one assist. Junior midfielder Seth Fishman (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Haverford) scored two goals and junior midfielder Harry St. John (Essex Fells, N.J./West Essex) added one goal and a pair of helpers. Junior Connor Locke (Alexandria, Va./St. Stephens & St. Agnes) and freshmen Jason Lumpkin (Baltimore, Md./Calvert Hall) and Ned Lundvall (Richmond, Va./Gilman) all played in goal for W&L, combining to make 11 saves.

Sam Hofmann and Nicholas OBrien both played in goal for Hood, making 18 stops between them.

Washington and Lee returns to action on Saturday as it takes on Franklin & Marshall at 1:00 pm at the St. Pauls School in Brooklandville, Md.
