No. 2 Salisbury Runs by Marymount to Go 7-0

ARLINGTON, Va. - The No. 2 Salisbury University women's lacrosse team had a dozen different players score a goal Monday night under the lights against Marymount (Va.) University in Arlington, Va., en route to a 20-9 Capital Athletic Conference victory.

The game was close at the start as Salisbury (7-0, 3-0 CAC) led 5-3 with 15 minutes to play in the first half. The Sea Gulls exploded after that and scored the games' next 13 goals which carried over into the second half.

Marymount (1-2, 1-1 CAC) outscored Salisbury 6-2 in the final 17 minutes of play.

Sophomore Beth Rhodey (one assist) led all goal scorers with three tallies and also picked up a game-high six ground balls. Senior Sue Ackermann (two goals, five assists) recorded a game-high seven point game. Sophomore Kim Cudmore turned in a fine game as she scored two goals and added two assists to go along with four ground balls.

SU also received two goals from senior Robyn Bishop, juniors Jessica Chmielewski and Ashleigh Gender and freshman Logan Bilderback.

Junior Sonja Stuart picked up the win in the net as she only played the first half of the game and made four saves. Freshman Julie Ann Caulfield started the second half and recorded one save. Sophomore Natalie Pappas finished the last 10 minutes of the game and also made one save.

Salisbury limited its turnovers as the maroon and gold only turned the ball over five times while they held an advantage in ground balls, 32-18. The Sea Gulls outshot the Saints 44-17.

The Sea Gulls turn around and face Capital Athletic Conference opponent Villa Julie College on Tuesday.
