Colby Improves to 2-0 with Victory over Babson
WATERVILLE, Maine --- Caddy Brooks (Darien, Conn.) finished with three goals and four assists as the Colby College men's lacrosse team moved to 2-0 on the season with a 13-4 non-conference victory over Babson College on Wednesday at Bill Alfond Field.
Brooks had two goals and three assists in the second half to help Colby go from a 5-2 halftime lead to a convincing victory. Brooks has six goals and five assists for 11 points in the Mules' opening two games.
Stew Brown (Wilton, Conn.) added two goals and two assists for Colby, while Drew Piekarski (East Sandwich, Mass.) finished with three goals. Piekarski, the New England Small College Athletic Conference Co-Player of the Week for last week, added three goals and also has six on the young season. Whit McCarthy (Darien, Conn.) and Dana McNally (Sudbury, Mass.) both had one goal and one assist.
Mark Squicciarino (Titusville, N.J.) scored his first collegiate goal for the Mules. Zach Goodnough (Brunswick, Maine) and Jamie Wallace (Marblehead, Mass.) also tallied.
Jason Wellemeyer (Pembroke, Mass.) led Babson (0-3) with three goals. R.J. Moulton (Manhasset, N.Y.) added two assists and Matt Enright (Bristol, R.I.) had the other goal.
Alex Farmer (Madison, Conn.) and Tommy Gianakos (Simsbury, Conn.) combined for 14 saves for Colby. Mike Saucier (Nashua, N.H.) had 13 stops for Babson.
