Skidmore Rips Morrisville

Saratoga Springs, N.Y.-- Matt and Tom Levesque (Duxbury, Mass.) scored four goals each to lead the Skidmore College men's lacrosse team to an 18-5 win over SUNY Morrisville, Wednesday night at Wachenheim Field. The Thoroughbreds improve to 2-1, while Morrisville drops to 0-2.

Skidmore controlled the game from the start, scoring four straight to grab a 4-0 lead after one. Matt Levesque had two of the four goals and assisted on another, while Rob Lutin (Port Washington, N.Y.) and Tom Levesque scored the other two. Nick Coppola (Basking Ridge, N.J.) had two of his game-high four assists on the first two goals.

Morrisville used a pair of man-up by Adam Lewis (Painted Post, N.Y.) and Eric Stein (Oswego, N.Y.) 26 seconds apart to pull within two 4-2. The Thoroughbreds responded with eight straight goals, including six in the final 6:26 of the second quarter. During the run, Coppola scored twice in a six-second span, once on an assist from Tyler Arnot (Waterbury, Vt.) with :43 to play in the second and then off Cory Barkoff's faceoff win.

Matt Levesque finished with four goals and two assists, while Tom Levesque had four goals and one assist. Coppola had two goals and four assists and Lutin had two goals and two assists. Barkoff was 13-4 on faceoffs with five ground balls. Scott Madison (Manhasset, N.Y.) also had five ground balls.

Stein led the Mustangs with two goals and two assists, while Lewis added a pair of goals and one assist.

Skidmore out shot Morrisville 58-17. Mustang goalie Jeremy Hunt (Bourne, Mass.) stayed busy with 23 saves, including 16 in the first half. John Capitani (Garden City, N.Y.) had two saves in 42:49 for the Thoroughbreds.

Skidmore is at Ursinus on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
