#7 Lock Haven Opens Season with Win over Pfeiffer

MISENHEIMER, N.C. - The No. 7 Lock Haven University lacrosse team (1-0) opened their 2008 season in a big way today downing Pfeiffer University 12-8 on the road.

The Lady Eagles were led by junior Jessica Blickenstaff (Thurmont, Md./Catoctin), the reigning Division II midfielder of the year, who netted six goals.

Lock Haven also got stellar play from goalie Kira Nuttall (Towson, Md./Loch Raven) and LHU head coach Kristen Selvage could say enough about the play of her sophomore keeper, who kept the Haven in the game.

"She was absolutely fabulous," Selvage said.

Nuttall finished with 16 saves, three interceptions and one caused turnover.

Along with Blickenstaff, who also dished out one assist four other Lady Eagles scored goals for LHU.

Freshmen Kari Sielski (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial) and senior Rachael Williams (Gettsyburg, Pa./Catoctin) each scored twice.

Junior Amber Hoch (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton Area) had a goal and two assists while rookie Jamie Uzialko (Lima, N.Y./Honeoye Falls-Lima) scored once.

Senior Caitlyn Watts (Willow Grove, Pa./Archbishop Wood) dished a pair of assists.

Sielski and Uzialko's goals marked the first of their Haven careers.

The Lady Eagles are back in action on Saturday, March 15 at 1:00 p.m. when they take on No. 2 Limestone College in an early season matchup of the two of the nation's top teams.
