DAVIDSON, N.C. -- Tori Wasson scored a game-high six goals for Vermont as the Davidson women's lacrosse team saw its three-game winning streak halted in a 15-10 loss to the Catamounts on Thursday evening at Richardson Stadium.

Davidson, who is starting a five-game homestand, fell to 4-3 on the year as its two-game home win streak also came to an end. Vermont improved to 3-1 on the year and rebounded after a loss at nationally-ranked Duke on Tuesday evening.

The Catamounts were able to score on half of their 30 shots for the game as three players scored multiple goals, led by Wasson's six. Sara Buxton was next with three scores and Megan MacDonald chipped in with two.

Juniors Becky Horton (Walnut Creek, Calif.) and Callie Seymour (Denver, Colo.) along with sophomore Jen Crawford (Mountain Lakes, N.J.) helped the Wildcats capitalize on 10 of their 19 overall shots with each scoring two goals apiece. Crawford pushed her team-leading goal total to 16 on the year, while Seymour had her second straight two-goal contest to give her seven on the season.

Seymour got things started for Davidson with a strike in 24th minute for a 1-0 lead. It was short lived as Vermont rattled off two goals in a little over a 30-second span to grab a 2-1 lead.

A Horton goal knotted things up at 2-2 at the 22:23 mark, but four different Catamount players netted a goal, including two by Buxton, over the next 19 minutes and the lead was 7-2 in favor of Vermont.

Davidson was not out of it though as they regrouped to score three goals in the last 41 seconds of the half, capped off by a Horton free-position goal with just five ticks on the clock, to trim the margin to two at 7-5 heading into halftime. Davidson was 4-of-6 on its free-position shots for the game, including 3-of-4 in the first half.

The second half then opened with Wasson scoring the first of her four goals in the half to push the Catamount lead to three. Just 26 seconds later, Vermont added yet another goal and Davidson trailed 9-5.

Horton hooked up with senior Kate McDonald (Philadelphia, Pa.) at the 26:26 mark to bring Davidson within three (9-6) as McDonald matched her career-high with her second score of the season.

Wasson then scored two of the next four Vermont goals and Davidson never got closer as junior Jennifer Lindsey (Davidson, N.C.) finished out the scoring with her first career goal at the three-minute mark for the ending score of 15-10.

Senior Laura Johnson (Baldwin, Md.) and sophomore Michelle Pav (Golden, Colo.) both saw action in goal for Davidson, combining for 10 saves in the losing effort.

Meaghan Hanley picked up all four of Vermont's save in goal.

Davidson next plays host to Wagner on Monday, Mar. 17 at 4:30 p.m at Richardson Stadium.

DAVIDSON, N.C. - Junior Tori Wasson (Lake Forest, Ill.) scored a career-high six goals, four in the second half, to lead the Vermont Catamounts past the Davidson Wildcats, 15-10, in non-conference action on Friday night.

Vermont snapped Davidson's three-game win streak to improve to 3-1 on the season, while the Wildcats fell to 4-3 overall.

"I am very pleased with the win and to come back from North Carolina 1-1. I was impressed with the effort we played with today and our ability to bounce back, both mentally and physically, from a tough loss to Duke on Tuesday," said Vermont head coach Jen Johnson.

"We played sloppy at times, but the key to our runs in each of the halves was our ability to win draw controls and the pressure we applied to Davidson in the midfield. Our work ethic and intensity between the 30's has been a strength of ours this season."
