HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA -- The Cabrini College men's lacrosse team used a 10-2 scoring run to top Hampden-Sydney 14-9 this afternoon. The Cavaliers remain undefeated with a 4-0 mark while Hampden-Sydney falls to 2-3 on the year.

Juniors Scott Reimer and Mike Dolente led the Cavaliers with three goals a piece while three other Cavalier players each tallied two scores. Junior Kevin Chenoweth stopped six shots on the afternoon while allowing nine scores.

The Cavaliers out-shot Hampden-Sydney 40-27 on the afternoon while the Tigers enjoyed a slight edge in ground balls (45-43). Cabrini won 19-of-26 face offs, with junior Kevin Fahey scooping eight ground balls in the winning effort.

Hampden-Sydney built a 3-1 lead in the first period with sophomore Casey Grugan recording Cabrini's only score in the first 15 minutes. Each team scored to open the second period leaving Hampden-Sydney with a 4-2 lead with 8:17 remaining in the first half. Over the next 10:25, Cabrini scored eight unanswered goals, a run that finally ended with 5:24 remaining in the third period on a shorthanded goal.

Hampden-Sydney rallied to cut the deficit to 12-9 with 3:19 to play in the contest but Cabrini answered with a goal just seven seconds later, and held the Tigers scoreless over the final three minutes to earn the road win.

The Cavaliers host #2 Gettysburg on Wednesday, March 19 at 4:00 p.m.

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA (March 15, 2008)-Hampden-Sydney jumped out of the gates quickly to snag a 3-1 lead after the first period, but No. 10 Cabrini College used a 10-2 run in the middle quarters to take control of contest, and withstood a late Tigers' charge to claim a 14-9 victory on Saturday afternoon at Fulton Field at Lewis C. Everett Stadium.

Hampden-Sydney was led by sophomore midfielder Kyle Jett's (Suffolk, VA/Nanesmond Suffolk) three goals and junior attackman Kenny Mathison (East Northport, NY/Northport) who notched two goals and one assist. Cavaliers' midfielder Scott Reimer and attackman Mike Dolente each netted three goals for the victors. The Tigers drop to 2-3 overall while Cabrini stays unblemished on the year at 4-0.

The Tigers started strong, using goals from sophomore midfielder Andrew O'Shea (Richmond, VA/Collegiate) and sophomore attackman Kevin Coats (Charlottesville, VA/Albemarle) to take a 2-0 advantage at the 10:39 mark in the first quarter. After a Cabrini score cut the lead to 2-1, Jett claimed his first tally with just over a minute to play in the opening stanza, giving the Tigers a 3-1 lead after one period.

Each team scored to open the second period leaving Hampden-Sydney with a 4-2 lead with 8:17 remaining in the first half. Mathison notched two goals during that stretch with Jett and senior midfielder Joe Daugherty (Charlottesville, VA/St. Anne's-Belfield) also finding the net. However, Cabrini answered with a goal just seven seconds later, and held the Tigers scoreless over the final three minutes to earn the road win.
