Tigers Show Love in Victory over Kean

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Sophomore midfielder Chris Love recorded career highs with three goals and three assists to lead the Colorado College men's lacrosse team to a 13-10 victory over Kean University on Tuesday afternoon at CC's Washburn Field.

Love had two goals and an assist to spark a 7-1 run that allowed the Tigers to turn a 3-1 deficit in the second period into an 8-4 lead with 7:17 remaining in the third.

Love and senior midfielder Tom Dugan struck for a pair of goals in a span of seven seconds to tie the game at 3-3 with 6:57 left in the second period.

Senior midfielder Hunter Combs snapped a 4-4 tie 1:41 into the third period, then Charley Perkins and sophomore attacker Brendan Gangl scored nine seconds apart to give CC its biggest lead of the game.

Sophomore attacker Scott Leathem, Kean's leading scorer, triggered a 4-1 run that trimmed CC's lead to 9-8 with 13:18 remaining in the game, but Love set up Gangl 15 seconds later to start a 4-1 run for the Tigers that ended with goals by Love and Dugan midway through the fourth quarter.

Gangl finished with three goals, while Combs, Dugan and Perkins each scored twice. Freshman attacker Joe Boyle added a goal and two assists.

Leathem had four goals and an assist to pace the Cougar attack. Senior attacker Dennis Lukacsko had two goals, while junior attacker C.J. Gannon had a goal and two assists.

Freshman Scott MacArthur evened his record at 2-2, making eight saves while going the distance in goal. Senior Dave Nichols stopped 15 shots for KU.

Colorado College had a 40-32 edge in total shots, including a 28-18 advantage in shots on goal.

The Tigers will play host to the University of Scranton on Thursday.
