Binghamton Drops Decision to Le Moyne

VESTAL, N.Y. -- Senior attack Whitney Vecchio scored six goals to lead visiting Le Moyne past Binghamton, 14-9, in women's lacrosse action Tuesday night at the Bearcats Sports Complex.

Vecchio, the Dolphins scoring leader on the season, finished with a game-high nine points. She produced five points (three goals and two assists) in the decisive first half.

Le Moyne scored four of the game's first five goals and led 4-1 at the 15:59 mark. The Bearcats responded with a pair of goals in a 29 second span to cut the deficit to 4-3. The visitors closed out the half on a 4-0 run and took an 8-3 lead into halftime.

Le Moyne scored three goals to start out the second half stretching their lead to 11-3. In the final 20 minutes, the Bearcats turned up their play outscoring the Dolphins by a 6-3 margin.

Junior Julia Demuth (Jordan, N.Y.) led Binghamton with three goals. Senior Leanne Musso (Auburn, N.Y.) and freshman Lisa Illig (Corning, N.Y.) each added a pair for the Bearcats. Freshman Ali Castiglie (Middle Island, N.Y.) had a game-high four assists. On the season, Castiglie has 11 goals for a team-best 27 points.

Freshmen Beth Moore (Hauppauge, N.Y.) and Kate Concialdi (Yorktown, N.Y.) each contributed a goal apiece to round out the scoring for BU.

Freshman goalie Lauren Scott (Jarrettsville, Md.) made the start in the net and recorded five first-half saves. Senior Sandra Alvarez (Port Washington, N.Y.) relieved Scott in the second half and finished with two saves.

Binghamton's (3-6, 0-1 AE) resumes America East play when No. 15 Boston visits the Bearcats Sports Complex. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m.
