Dugan Scores Six Times as CC Rallies to Defeat Scranton

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Senior midfielder Tom Dugan scored a career-high six goals as Colorado College came from behind to post a 15-9 victory over the University of Scranton in a Division III men's lacrosse game on Thursday afternoon at CC's Washburn Field.

Dugan scored twice in the first half, including a goal with two seconds remaining in the second period, as CC trimmed its three-goal deficit to one after the first 30 minutes. Each if his next three goals tied the game, setting the stage for an offensive explosion during the final 20 minutes.

Senior midfielder Hunter Combs put the Tigers ahead for good with 2:31 left in the third quarter and CC scored seven of the final nine goals to put the game away. Junior defender Chris Colligan led the CC defense with six ground balls and two caused turnovers.

The Royals were in full control early, jumping out to leads of 2-0 and 5-2, but freshman goaltender Scott MacArthur made six saves in the first quarter to keep the game from getting out of hand. But after freshman midfielder Tim Golder scored the Royals' fifth goal with 10:18 to play, the Tiger defense stiffened and allowed just four goals the rest of the game.

Clinging to a 9-8 lead after three periods, Colorado College exploded for six goals in the final 15 minutes, its highest single-period output of the season.

Combs finished with three goals, while sophomore attacker Brendan Gangl and freshman attacker Joe Boyle had two goals and two assists apiece for the Tigers. Sophomore midfielder Chris Love assisted on four goals.

Scranton got a pair of goals freshman attacker Stephen Bruestle and freshman midfielder Christian Dugan. Junior attacker Thomas Kornobis and freshman attacker Kyle Frank each had a goal and two assists.

MacArthur finished with a season-high 17 assists for Colorado College. Freshman goaltender Jeremy Dowiak had seven saves for the Royals.
