No. 1 C.W. Post Breezes by Bryant
SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Jacyln Napoli (West Islip, NY) and Mallory Poole (Corning, NY) each had five goals while Elaine Williams (East Islip, NY) added four as top-ranked C.W. Post remained undefeated on the season with a 20-9 non-conference win over host Bryant University at a chilly Turf Field Complex Saturday. Bryant had four players score two goals in the game as the Bulldogs drop to 3-2 on the season.
Bryant (3-2) came out strong against the Pioneers, as Caitlin Hansen (Spring Lake, NJ), Delia Glover (Marston Mills, MA) and Allison Faiola (Billerica, MA) finding the back of the net to give the host Bulldogs a 3-2 lead eight minutes into the game.
C.W. Post (4-0) would answer with six unanswered goals to take a 9-3 lead behind three tallies from Williams and two from Napoli. Lauren Albert (South Windsor, CT) would beat Pioneer goalie Lauren Scipione (East Meadow, NY) to make it 9-4, but a goal from Samantha Lyons (Farmingdale, NY) and another by Miller just before the half gave the visitors a commanding 11-4 lead at the break.
In the second half, Byrant was able to pull to within 15-8 on a goal by Albert midway through the half, but the Pioneers would take advantage of several mistakes by the Bulldogs and put the game away with two more goals from Poole and one each from Lyons and Napoli. C.W. Post out-shot Bryant 38 to 18 and forced Bryant into 22 turnovers in the game.
Faiola would add two assists for Bryant while goalie Jessica Bolton (Belgrade Lakes, Maine) made 12 saves in net. Bryant will travel to Bentley on Tuesday.
