No. 17 Army Blitzes Holy Cross in Patriot Action
WEST POINT, N.Y. - Army junior Jason Peyer scored a career-best four goals, while senior attackman Justin Bokmeyer notched two goals and two assists to lead the #17 Black Knights to a 14-5 victory over Holy Cross in Patriot League lacrosse action, Saturday, at Michie Stadium.
Junior attackman Brooks Korvin put Army (5-2, 2-0 PL) on the board first, scoring both of his goals in the opening minutes of the game as the Black Knights jumped out to a 4-0 first-quarter lead. Peyer would score two second-quarter goals during a 5-1 Army run that made it 9-1 at halftime.
Holy Cross (3-4, 0-4 PL) never threatened the rest of the way as Army outscored the Crusaders, 5-4, in the second half en route to its third-straight victory and 18th win over Holy Cross in as many meetings.
Korvin finished with three points on two goals and an assist, while freshman attackman Jeremy Boltus checked in with a game-best three assists. Senior attackman Pat Fullerton scored a pair of goals, while freshman midfielder Rob McCallion added a goal and an assist.
Senior attackman J.P. Keneally and freshman midfielder Pat Arlantico each scored their first career goals, while senior midfielder Andrew Supiano also found the net. Army senior goalkeeper Adam Fullerton was credited with seven saves in three quarters of action between the pipes.
Holy Cross sophomore attackman Edison Parzanese tallied two goals and two assists for the Crusaders.
The Black Knights out-shot Holy Cross, 36-25, and also held a 36-24 advantage in ground balls, led by five by senior defenseman Craig Massie. The Black Knights also won 15 of 22 faceoffs while cashing in 3 of 5 man-up opportunities.
GAME NOTES: Senior Pat Fullerton led Army onto the field, carrying the American Flag ... senior Roy Ragusa won a career-best 9 of 10 faceoffs during the game ... Army has scored first in all seven of its games this season ... Peyer also led Army in scoring in Tuesday's 4-2 win at Lehigh with two goals ... every single active player on the Army roster played in the game. Only junior midfielder Zach Jansen did not play due to a season-ending knee injury he suffered at Syracuse ... Army moved up to 17th in this week's USILA Coaches Poll ... The Black Knights head back on the road to take on Hofstra on Tuesday starting at 7:00 p.m. in Hempstead, N.Y., before returning home next Saturday to take on Colgate in a Patriot League showdown at 1:00 p.m. to finish off the month of March.

Sophomore Edison Parzanese (Edgartown, Mass.) led the Crusaders with two goals and two assists for four points. Senior Toby Banta (Melrose, Mass.), sophomore Mike Nagle (Timonium, Md.) and freshman Conor McKenna (Summit, N.J.) each scored one goal.
Army was led by Jason Peyers four goals.
The Black Knights scored the first five goals of the game before Banta netted a goal off an assist by Parzanese with 11:10 left in the second period. Army then scored four straight goals to bring a 9-1 lead into half time.
Nagle started the third period with a man-up goal with an assist by Parzanese to make it a 9-2 game. After the Black Knights scored two goals to increase their lead to 11-2, McKenna scored off a pass by freshman Colin Flood (Bay Shore, N.Y.). After Army made it 12-3, Parzanese scored the last goal of the third period to make it a 12-4 contest. In the fourth period, the Black Knights scored two straight goals followed by a goal by Parzanese assisted by senior Tim Redmond (Andover, Mass.) for the 14-5 final score.
