Strong Start, Big Win for Dickinson over Fords

(Carlisle, PA)-The Dickinson College women's lacrosse team jumped out to a 12-0 lead at halftime en route to a 16-5 win over Haverford College on Saturday afternoon. The Devils slowed things down in the second half, improving to 5-1 overall and 2-0 in the Centennial Conference.

The Red Devils held an advantage over the Fords in shots, 30-9, ground balls, 26-14, and draw controls, 12-11, in earning a dominating victory.

The Devils were led on attack by junior Amy Jennings (Baltimore, MD/McDonough), who scored three goals while also dishing out two assists.

Dana Bunting (Bishopsville, MD/Worchester Prep) led the Devils with five assists while also collecting four ground balls. Bunting did the majority of her damage in the first half, where she had four assists.

Other players scoring two goals apiece for the Red Devils included first-year Kelsey Muir (Glen Mills, PA/Academy of Notre Dame), sophomore Alysa Crellin (Little Compton, RI/Portsmouth Abbey), first-years Sunnie Ko (Springfield, VA/West Springfield) and Lucy West (Bethesda, MD/Holton-Arms) and sophomore Anedra Edwards (Washington D.C./Elizabeth Seton). Ko also led the Devils with four caused turnovers.

Junior Caitlin Kingsley (Katy, TX/Ridgefield) earned the win for the Devils, while first-year Jessie Clark (Devon, PA/Conestoga) stepped in during the second half and collected three saves.

Leading the way for Haverford were Kaylee Herrick-Reynolds, who scored three goals and Liz Koelmel with two. Goaltender Siobhan Neitzel made seven saves for the Fords.

The Red Devils improve to 5-1 on the year and 2-0 in the conference. They travel to Messiah College on Wednesday, March 26 to face the Falcons in a 5:00 pm contest.
