No. 9 Cabrini Ekes out Victory at Widener

CHESTER, Pa. (March 22) – Junior Scott Reimer scored three goals, including two in the fourth quarter as the ninth-ranked Cabrini College men's lacrosse team defeated Widener University 10-9 this afternoon. With the win, the Cavaliers improve to 5-1 while the Pride fall to 2-5.

Senior Matt McKinney added two scores while five other Cavalier players scored once. Sophomore Casey Grugan and freshman Paul Skulski each assisted on two scores.

For the second consecutive game, junior Jeff Moore led Cabrini in ground balls, with four in today's win.

Both teams recorded 36 assists and Widener held a 22-18 edge in ground balls.

The Cavaliers successfully scored on three of their four man-up opportunities.

The Pride held a 4-0 lead at the end of the first quarter before the Cavaliers closed the gap to two (5-3) at halftime.

At the start of the fourth period, Reimer knotted the score at seven at the 10:54 mark and gave Cabrini its first lead of the afternoon less than two minutes later. With just under five minutes on the clock, Widener evened the score before back-to-back goals from the Cavaliers put Cabrini in front by two (10-8).

The Pride scored their final goal of the afternoon at the 2:08 mark as the Cavaliers earned the win.

Junior Kevin Chenoweth played all 60 minutes in the net for Cabrini and recorded 14 saves.

The Cavaliers face Neumann College on Wednesday, March 26 at 4:00 p.m.
