Hanover, N.H. - Dartmouth and Holy Cross have met 26 times before and the Big Green has immerged victorious every time. Today was no different. In the 27th meeting between the two, 23 goals were scored, 14 different players scored, 12 players had assists, Crusader Chris Smirti scored eight goals, Ari Sussman (New Haven, Conn.) and Jonathan Livadas (Wilmington, Del.) each had four for Dartmouth as the Big Green won, 21-12. The last time Dartmouth scored 20 goals was a 20-7 win over Quinnipiac on March 4, 2003. The Big Green went on to win the Ivy championship that year and played in the NCAA tournament, falling to Syracuse.

Brian Koch (Rye, N.Y.) had two goals and two assists this afternoon to extend his scoring streak to 24 games, dating back to May 2, 2006. The win brings the Big Green's record to 4-3 overall, dropping Holy Cross to 3-5.

Sophomore Robby Pride (Denver, Colo.), who played for the Big Green basketball team this winter, opened the scoring at 12:39 of the first with his first collegiate goal. At 10:50, Sussman fired a shot on goal, which bounced off the crossbar right into the waiting stick of Phillip Killian who fired it home to make it 2-0 Dartmouth. Holy Cross responded with three unanswered tallies to take the lead 3-2. The two teams traded goals until a Jimmy Mullen (Mt. Lebanon, Pa.) score put the Green on top to stay at 6-5. Dartmouth took charge with four straight goals to end the half, 11-6.

The Big Green continued its momentum into the second half, scoring four of the first five goals. Sussman had two unassisted goals to begin the third period. Holy Cross stemmed the tide momentarily, scoring two unanswered to get to 15-9 at the end of three quarters.

In the fourth quarter, Dartmouth went on scoring streaks of two and four goals respectively. Koch scored both of his goals; Freshman Rhett Miller (Dallas, Texas) scored his second career goal. Benji Spanier capitalized on an Edison Parzanese turnover, running the length of the field and scoring his second collegiate goal to put the Green up 19-10. Josh Gillam (Peterborough, Ont.) and Killian had the final two tallies for Dartmouth. Chris Smirti scored his eight goal of the afternoon with nine seconds on the clock for the final score.

Turnovers were about even for both teams, Holy Cross had 19 to Dartmouth's 18. The Big Green had the edge in shots with 44-29 and groundballs, 40-31. Michael Novosel (Somers, N.Y.) got the win for Dartmouth, stopping seven shots. Pat Marshall (Lutherville, Md.) came on in relief and had three saves.

The Big Green now heads to New York to take on No. 2 Duke at Mitchel Field in an Autism Awareness fundraiser on Saturday, March 29. Gametime is set for 4:00 pm.

HANOVER, N.H. − Holy Cross sophomore Chris Smirti (Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y.) tied the school records for most goals in a game with eight and for the most points in a game with 10 as the Holy Cross men's lacrosse team fell to Dartmouth, 21-12, on Tuesday afternoon in non-conference action. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 3-5 overall, while the Big Green improve to 4-3 overall. Smirti tied the goals record set by John Vrionis against WPI on April 13, 1968. He is now the fourth Holy Cross player to earn 10 points. The three previous players were Ryan Dooley against Marist on May 1, 1994, Pat Kelly against Tufts on April 19, 1994 and Rob Callahan against Siena on April 12, 1994.

Junior Luke Marchand (Concord, Mass.) had two goals and two assists for four points, while sophomore Edison Parzanese (Edgartown, Mass.) recorded four assists. Senior Toby Banta (Melrose, Mass.) and freshman Colin Flood (Bay Shore, N.Y.) each scored one goal, while senior Bobby Sullivan (Longmeadow, Mass.) and freshman Conor McKenna (Summit, N.J.) each had one assist.
