Wilmington Drops Decision to Georgian Court

NEW CASTLE, DE -- The Wilmington University Lady Wildcats lost Wednesday afternoon to the visiting Lady Lions of Georgian Court University, by a score of 18-5. With the loss, Wilmington drops to 4-2 on the season, while the Lions of improve to 3-2 overall.

Wilmington came out of the gate strong scoring their first goal less than one minute into the game. Georgian Court responded with three unanswered goals before Wilmington put their second in the back of the net. The ‘Cats went into halftime down by seven goals, and could never recover as the Lions cruised to the 18-5 victory.

Sophomore Jillian Hadfield led Georgian Court with three goals and seven assists, while sophomore Ryan McGraff had a game-high five goals and two assists. Sophomores Allison Abbate and Christine Flaherty, along with freshman Lauren Conaty each netted a pair of goals for the Lions.

Wilmington was led in scoring by senior Colby Bugda and sophomore Amanda Jenkins, as each tallied two goals, while Jenkins also helped out with an assist. Freshman Danielle Niccoli added a goal and two assists for the Lady Wildcats.

Senior goalkeeper Catie Smith (3-2) took the loss for the Lady Wildcats, recording 24 saves in net. Sophomore Christine Latteri notched 17 saves for the Lions as she picked up the win.

Wilmington returns to action on Saturday, March 29th, when they face-off against the Lady Rams of Philadelphia University. Game time is set for 12:00 PM.
