No. 15 Mary Washington Runs by Marymount
Senior attacker Caitlin Erickson scored three goals and added four assists in leading the 15th ranked University of Mary Washington women's lacrosse team to a 14-5 victory over Marymount University on Wednesday at the Battleground. The Eagles improve to 7-3 overall, and 5-0 in Capital Athletic Conference play.
The Eagles jumped ahead early, scoring the first five goals of the game. After a Marymount score, the Eagles scored the next six goals, extending into the second half. The Eagles edged the Saints, 5-4, in the second frame.
In addition to Erickson's seven points, Emily Talbot had two goals and three assists, and Sarah Finney scored two goals and two assists. Meredith Deitrick had four saves with one goal allowed in 30 minutes, with Helena Polites making eight saves and allowing four scores in the second half.
The Eagles outshot the Saints, 41-19, and had 40 ground balls to 29 for MU. UMW will visit The College of New Jersey on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
