No. 14 Villa Julie Defeats Wesley in Conference Play

Dover, DE - Villa (7-2, 3-0) overtook conference foe Wesley (7-4, 3-3) with a score of 15-4. Richie Ford (Baltimore, MD/Towson) led the Mustangs with five goals. Villa outmaneuvered Wesley, taking 39 shots and tallying 35 groundballs to Wesley's 29 shots and 34 groundballs. Villa also won 13 of 21 face-offs.

Villa dominated the first quarter with four unanswered goals. Ford scored the first at the 14:14 mark assisted by Steve Kazimer (Syracuse, NY/Henniger). Kazimer tallied a goal of his own before Ford scored two more to lead 4-0.

Wesley made an appearance on the scoreboard for the first time with 11:35 remaining in the second quarter. The Mustangs quickly retaliated with an unassisted goal by Kevin Donnelly (Laurel, MD/St. Vincent Pallotti) and one more by Ford before the end of the first half, bringing the score to 6-1.

Wesley began to put forth a fight third quarter, earning two goals to Villa's three. Greg Furshman (Miami, FL/Towson) opened scoring with an unassisted goal followed by a man-up goal from Kazimer assisted by Ford. Wesley scored their second goal of the game at the 7:16 mark. Villa and Wesley tallied one more goal each before the end of the quarter for a score of 9-3.

The Mustangs nailed home their win in the fourth quarter. Between 13:44 to 11:46, Villa tallied four fast goals from Kazimer, Ford, Furshman, and Jimmy Kleb (Lewes, DE/Cape Henlopen). Wesley scored their last goal of the night with 6:29 remaining. Villa's Kenny Whittaker (Baltimore, MD/Curley) and Furshman each scored the final goals to bring the final score to 15-4.

In addition to Ford's five goals and one assist, Kazimer tallied four goals and three assists followed by Furshman with three goals and one assist.

The Mustangs are back in action on April 2 when they host York College (Pa.) at 3:30 p.m.
