Antelopes Come Close, Edged by Dominican

Going into this game, Grand Canyon University believed it had a chance to secure its first win in the lacrosse program's history.

But Dominican University gave the visiting Antelopes all they could handle in beating Grand Canyon 17-14 Friday night in San Rafael, Calif.

Cody Boon scored four goals, and Patrick Murphy and Billy Lloyd each had three goals and an assist for the Antelopes (0-8). JC Ketterer had two goals and Danny Tussey added another.

Murphy had three ground balls, Boon two and Tussey and Luke Larm each had one.

GCU goalie Kyle DeWitt made 12 saves, playing in place of the injured JD Gardner.

Grand Canyon plays at No. 10 Notre Dame de Namur at noon Saturday.
