Hanover, N.H. - Seven different players scored goals and four recorded hat tricks as the Dartmouth women's lacrosse team pummeled Vermont this afternoon, 21-6.

Rookie Kat Collins (Darien, Conn.) led the way for the Big Green with seven goals and one assist while sophomore Eliza Bennett (Darien, Conn.) had six points on three goals and three assists and senior Kristen Barry (Duxbury, Mass.) posted five goals. Sophomore Cat Goytisolo (Cockeysville, Md.) had the fourth hat trick with three goals.

"It was nice to see us moving the ball well on the attack and to have a lot of kids scoring," said Head Coach Amy Patton. "I keep hoping that with each game these young kids will start to believe in themselves, that it what this year is about. They played as a team today and that is important."

Dartmouth struck first when Collins scored an unassisted tally at 27:24 to start things off before Vermont's Sara Buxton scored at 26:04 to even the score. The Big Green scored three unanswered goals to take a 4-1 lead before Vermont's second of the day. Goytisolo scored two of the next four for Dartmouth to take an 8-2 lead at 8:46.

Six goals were tallied in the last five minutes of the game, with four for the Big Green including a good free-position shot by Collins with seven seconds left in the half to make it 12-4, Dartmouth at the break.

Barry got things going early in the second for Dartmouth, scoring two unassisted goals in the first 39 seconds. Vermont's Alison Haigh provided a goal and an assist, however, as the Catamounts answered back to make it 14-6 at 26:14.

That would be it for the Vermont attack for the day as the Big Green held the Catamounts scoreless for the balance of the contest while scoring seven unanswered goals from five different people to make the final 21-6.

Freshman Greta Meyer (Denver, Colo.) filled her statsheet with four points on three assists and one goal along with six draw controls, four groundballs and three caused turnovers. Dartmouth's defensive effort was highlighted by seven saves and four groundballs in goal by sophomore Julie Wadland (Andover, Mass.) and three groundballs and three caused turnovers by Shannie MacKenzie (Riverside, Conn.).

Dartmouth held a staggering 20 to 9 advantage in draw controls, helping the Green maintain possession throughout the game.

"I'm glad we had a midweek game after that loss [at Brown]," said Patton. "We really came out and played well and now we can get that momentum going into Cornell." The Big Green returns to Ivy play on Saturday at Cornell at 1:00 p.m.

HANOVER, N.H. - Kat Collins scored a game-high seven goals to lead the Dartmouth Big Green past visiting Vermont, 21-6, in women's lacrosse action on Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference game.

Collins scored five of her goals in the first 30 minutes as the Big Green took a 12-4 lead at the half. Dartmouth's offense continued to click in the second stanza, scoring nine goals, including the final seven tallies.

Sophomore Alison Haigh (Northborough, Mass.) led Vermont with two goals and two assists. The Catamounts also received goals from four other players on the afternoon.

Senior Meaghan Hanley (Fort Pierce, Fla.) played 37 minutes in net for Vermont and made two stops before being lifted and replaced with sophomore Ali Trainor (Severn, Md.) for the final 23 minutes.

Kristen Barry added five goals and Eliza Bennett and Cate Goytisolo chipped in three goals each for the Big Green. Julie Wadland and Ashley Heist combined for seven saves in the Dartmouth net.
