#7 Lock Haven Scores at 0:33 to Sink Shippensburg

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - Junior Jessica Blickenstaff (Thurmont, Md./Catoctin) scored with just 33 seconds left to play for the Lady Eagles, lifting the No. 7 Lock Haven University lacrosse team (6-2, 4-1 PSAC) past Shippensburg University (2-5, 2-3 PSAC) 8-7 on the road. The game proved to be a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) dog fight, as both teams were deadlocked at 4-4 after the first 30 minutes of play.

Lock Haven outshot Shippensburg, 20-19, as the two battled until the end with the Lady Raiders doing everything they could to protect their home turf and pull the upset. The Lady Eagles were once again led by Blickenstaff and sophomore Leigh Titus (Towaco, N.J./Montville) as the two continued their scoring tear.

Blickenstaff finished with four points scoring a pair of goals and setting up two others. Titus netted a game-high three goals and added one helper.

Three other players scored for the Haven including Jamie Uzaialko (Lima, N.Y./Honeoye Falls-Lima), Amber Hoch (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton Area) and Rachael Williams (Gettysburg, Pa./Catoctin).

Shippensburg's Beth Long struck first, putting the hosts up 1-0 early. LHU quickly responded as Titus scored two straight. Titus netted her hat trick with 9:18 to go putting LHU up 3-2 after Ship had tied the game.

Both teams exchanged goals before Kelly Smith of Shippensburg tied the game with just over six minutes to play in the first half. With 1:02 on the clock Shippensburg tied the game at 7-7, setting things up for Blickenstaff's fireworks with just 33 seconds left in the contest.

Sophomore goalie Kira Nuttall (Towson, Md./Loch Raven) made seven saves in the cage. The Lady Eagles extended their win streak to three games and are coming off a huge regional win over No. 5 Gannon University on Monday night.

Lock Haven is back in action on Saturday, April 5 at 1:00 p.m., when they play host to local rival Bloomsburg University in a conference showdown.
