Queens Women's Lacrosse Tops Rollins 15-5

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (April 6, 2008) – Carolynn Loan (Cazenovia, N.Y./Herkimer CC) scored four goals in the Queens University of Charlotte women's lacrosse15-5 non-conference victory over Rollins College Sunday afternoon at the Queens University of Charlotte Sports Complex at Marion Diehl Park. Queens improves to 8-5, 4-3 Conference Carolinas and Rollins drops to 3-9 overall.

In the first half Queens got on the scoreboard four and a half minutes into play as Loan scored off of an assist from Kelley Duffey (New Hope, Minn./Cooper). Duffey provided four of the five Royals assists in the first half and scored one goal of her own. Queens scored a second quick goal from Amanda Mahle (Baltimore, Md./Bryn Mawr School) to go up 2-0. For every two goal Queens scored, the Tars answered with one of their own, except for the final two goals.

The Royals held an 8-3 advantage over the visitors at the half.

Queens continued to roll in the second half scoring five unanswered goals. Annie Harris broke the Queens run, but could not change the momentum of the game. The Royals scored two more goals after the Tars' goal and gave up one.

Goalie Logan Canale (Orlando, Fla./Colonial) made 11 saves in the game and gave up the five goals. Tars goalie Lisa Weber gave up all 15 goals and made eight saves.

Mahle and Amanda Martin (Geneva, N.Y./St. Bonaventure University) each had two goals and two assists for Queens. Angelique Morabito (East Rochester, N.Y./East Rochester) tallied her first points of the season with two goals.

The Tars were led by Courtney Bianculli with three goals.

Queens hosts Pfeiffer University on Wednesday, April 9, in the last regular season home game. Game time is set for 7:00 pm. The Royals defeated the Falcons 16-11 earlier in this season in Misenhiemer, N.C.
