Colleluori's Five Points Lead Raiders Past Binghamton
VESTAL, N.Y. -- Junior attack Kevin Colleluori scored three goals and dished out a pair of assists, leading Colgate (6-5) to a 9-7 win at Binghamton (2-5) in a non-conference men's lacrosse game on Tuesday night at the Bearcats Sports Complex. The loss marked the final non-conference game of the season for the Bearcats.
Sophomore midfielder Ian Murphy and sophomore attack Zack Craumer added two goals each for the Raiders. Sophomore Andy Cook (Vestal, N.Y.) scored a career-high three goals and had an assist to lead Binghamton while sophomore midfielder Steve Carlson (Penn Yan, N.Y.) chipped in two goals and two assists.
Colleluori and Murphy each scored twice during a four-goal blitz in a span of 1:43 that gave Colgate a 5-1 advantage with 11:41 left to go in the first half. Cook countered with a pair of goals to cut the deficit to 6-3 at the break.
Following a scoreless third quarter, junior midfielder Kevin Joy (Camillus, N.Y.) trimmed the Raider lead to 6-4 with 12:31 remaining in regulation. Just 28 seconds later, however, Colgate went on a three-goal outburst in a span of 5:27 to take a 9-4 lead with 6:36 left. Craumer scored both of his goals and Colleluori had his final goal during the run.
Binghamton refused to go quietly, scoring three goals in the final five minutes of play. Carlson had a goal and an assist during the run and Cook closed the scoring with the final score of the night with 1:15 remaining. Colgate, however, controlled the ball the final minute of the game to secure the victory.
The Bearcats outshot Colgate 29-19 for the game, including 18-4 in the final half of play. Sophomore goalie Tim Harrington, however, came up with 10 saves, including seven in the second half to preserve the win.
Binghamton heads to Vermont for a 1:00 p.m. America East Conference game on Saturday.

(4/8/08) - Colgate University juniors Kevin Colleluori (Bethpage, N.Y.) had three goals and two assists to lead the Raiders to a 9-7 victory over Binghamton in non-conference men's lacrosse action. Colleluori led all players with five points, while sophomore Zack Craumer (Greenwich, Conn.) had two goals.
The Raiders improve to 6-5 overall and push the win streak to two games, while Binghamton falls to 2-6 on the season. The Raiders are now 6-0 all-time against the Bearcats.
The Raiders got goals from five different players, including at least two from Colleluori, Craumer, and Ian Murphy (Constantia, N.Y.) and points from eight overall. Binghamton was led by Andy Cook's career-high three goals. Steven Carlson added two scores for the Bearcats.
Senior Chris Mulholland (Jenkintown, Pa.) opened the scoring just 2:30 into the game when he picked up a groundball just behind midfield. He raced into the open field and rifle home a shot over the right shoulder of goalkeeper Larry Kline.
The Bearcats tied the score just over three minutes later with an unassisted tally from Steven Carlson. The two teams continued to fire away, but were unable to connect as they headed into the first break tied at one apiece.
It was all Colgate in the opening 3:19 of the second quarter. The Raiders scored four unanswered in a 1:43 span. Colleluori sparked the flurry at the 13:24 mark when he took a pass from Lalli and beat a defender and fired a left-handed shot low into the net.
Murphy made it a 3-1 game 56 seconds later, ripping an underhanded shot past Kline. Colleluori provided the assist. Murphy added another score 40 seconds later with a helper from Lalli. Senior Chris Eck (Fairfield, Conn.) won the ensuing faceoff and groundball and fed Corp the ball. Corp quickly relayed a pass to Colleluori who notched his second goal of the game to make it 5-1 with 11:41 left in the second frame.
