Saint Vincent Outguns Washington & Jefferson

LATROBE, Pa. Lauren Eller scored five goals and added two assists to help Saint Vincent earn a 16-12 victory over Washington & Jefferson in women's lacrosse action on Tuesday afternoon.

The Lady Bearcats (4-2) rushed out to a 4-0 lead in the first 10 minutes and extended the advantage to 10-5 at halftime.

Saint Vincent netted three of the first four goals in the second half to build a 13-6 lead before the Presidents scored four goals in the final seven minutes to narrow the final deficit to 16-12.

Liz Louison collected four goals and one assist for Saint Vincent, while Megan Sekinger and Cassie Alberding both had a pair of goals. Freshman Nikki Lu (Wooster, Ohio/Wooster) paced the Presidents with a season-high five goals.

Freshman Shannon Rainey (Severna Park, Md./Archbishop Spalding) dropped in three goals and junior Laura Peery (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) and freshman Courtney Schrock (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks West) both posted two-goal efforts.

The Presidents (2-4) continue their first varsity season on Sunday when hosting Wittenberg at 2:00 pm.
