PORTLAND, Maine -- Junior Caddy Brooks (Darien, Conn./Salisbury School) scored six goals to lead the Colby College Mules to a 10-5 win over the University of Southern Maine Huskies in a non-conference men's lacrosse game Tuesday night at Fitzpatrick Stadium in Portland, Maine.

The win snaps a three-game losing skid for the Mules and lifts their overall record to 6-3. The Huskies dropped their second straight to slide to 2-6 overall.

Brooks snapped a 5-5 stalemate scoring his third goal of the game with 8:49 to go in the third quarter. The junior attackman scored again with 3.4 seconds left in the third quarter, and the first two goals of the fourth quarter as the Mules pulled away from the under-manned Huskies.

For Colby, sophomore Whit McCarthy (Darien, Conn.) had three goals and an assist. Senior Dana McNally (Sudbury, Mass./Lincoln-Sudbury) dished off four assists. Senior Tim Patch (Reading, Mass./Belmont Hill) and sophomore Tom Gianakos (Simsbury, Conn./Avon Old Farms) split the goalie chores for Colby with each making three saves.

USM junior Lee Gauthier (Berwick, Maine/Noble) tied the game for the final time with a man-up goal at 10:44 of the third before Brooks took matters into his own hands.

Southern Maine will be back in action Thursday (4:00 p.m.) hosting the University of Massachusetts Boston in a Little East Conference game. Colby will travel to NESCSC rival Wesleyan University on Saturday (1:00 p.m.).
