WLax: Boston College Signs Six Recruits for 2006 Players to Join the Eagles in the ACC Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Boston College women's lacrosse coach Shari Krasnoo has announced the signing of six high school seniors to national letters-of-intent during the fall signing period. Joanna Boland, Lauren Fitzpatrick, Maura Mahoney, Jenna McCabe, Katie Monaghan, and Rachel Tinquist will enroll at BC in the fall of 2005, joining the Eagles for the 2006 season, the team's first as a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference. Joanna Boland (Ridge HS / Basking Ridge, NJ), a three-year starter at Ridge, has amassed 53 goals and 26 assists for 79 points in her career thus far. Last season her play earned her All-Conference honors, and she was elected captain for her senior campaign. Boland will join the defensive midfield for the Eagles. Lauren Fitzpatrick (Westwood HS / Westwood, MA) will join Boland in the midfield. Selected as a 1st Team Al1-American last year, Fitzpatrick has tallied 135 goals and 94 assists (229 points) in her career. She has been selected to two Lower New England Teams - Team 3 as a sophomore and Team 1 as a junior - for the National Tournament. Maura Mahoney (Westwood HS / Westwood, MA) will join the attack for BC. Last season she tallied 86 goals and 94 assists, bringing her career point total to 395. She earned Honorable Mention All-American honors and a spot on the Boston Globe's All-Scholastic team. She also played with Lower New England Team 2 at the National Tournament for the second consecutive year. Jenna McCabe (Loomis Chaffee School / Brunswick, ME) will play attack for the Eagles. She earned 1st Team All-American as a junior and Honorable Mention All-American as a sophomore. After transferring to Loomis Chaffee last year, she earned 1st Team All-American status again as a repeat junior, posting 37 goals and 45 assists, bringing her career totals to 184 goals and 172 assists (356 points). Katie Monaghan (Archbishop Spalding / Annapolis, MD) will play in goal for BC. Last season she led her team to a berth in the league championship, posting a 19-3 record with a 63% save percentage and 4.4 goals-against average. Rachel Tinquist (Mendham HS / Chester, NJ) is a left-handed midfielder who has been named All-State, All-Area, and All-Conference in both of her varsity seasons. Last season she posted 70 goals and 23 assists, giving her 186 points for her career. In addition, she competed for Upper Atlantic Team 2 at National Tournament as a junior. Since Krasnoo's arrival at BC five years ago, the Eagles have consistently recruited top lacrosse players from around the country, and the incoming class of 2009 continues that trend. The 2005 Eagles will open their season on March 2 at Fairfield University. |
