Pollsters' Comments About Teams They Ranked

Maryland: Dodged bullets against the inspired Mids. (Baldo) — #1. (Cooter) — #1. (dek) — #1. (Humb le) — Beat Navy ... Blue Jays hit Byrd this weekend. (jhu7276) — My #1. Trouble in paradise as the Terps struggle with the Squids. Maybe it's a marine biology anomaly. (laxfan1313) — #1. Came from behind twice in an 11-8 win at Navy. Peeking ahead to hosting Johns Hopkins or simply Navy's best effort of the year? Terps can equal a 49-year old mark if they can beat Jays for the 4th straight time. Odds favor the Terrapins in my book. (Lax Fidelis) — #1. Withstood test from the Mids. Big match with the Jays on deck. (maddog9718) — 1. I have had them here for several weeks now. No reason to change this week. (OCanada) — RR#1. (randyrad) — #1-Navy hung around the whole game, played strong against the Terps. (Strannywastheman) — Struggled in Annapolis and dodged a Cruise Missile, Could have been an L. Needs to make a statement by beating Hopkins big. (Tecumseh) — #1. (VTD)

Cornell: Escaped at Cambridge. (Baldo) — #2. (Cooter) — #2. (dek) — #3. (Humb le) — In the Dome vs. Orange for a big one this week. (jhu7276) — My #2. Character building victory over the Crimson that took Duke to the limit last week. Next up: game of the week vs. Syracuse on Wednesday. (laxfan1313) — #2. Down 12-9 midway through Q4 at Harvard, Big Red roared back by scoring the last 5 goals in a 14-12 escape in Allston. Next: the Upstate Holy War on Wednesday at 6 PM when Cornell visits the Dome and the surprising Orange squad. (Lax Fidelis) — #3. Edged the Crimson. (maddog9718) — 2. Dartmouth and Harvard fall victims this week. (OCanada) — RR#2. (randyrad) — #4-Harvard was in it to the end. (Strannywastheman) — Tied at #1, needs a strong finish in the Ivy's. (Tecumseh) — #2. (VTD)

Denver: Another barn-burner win in 2OT against Bellarmine. (Baldo) — #6. (Cooter) — #4. (dek) — #2. (Humb le) — Keeps rolling along. (jhu7276) — My #5. Failure to dispatch Bellarmine drops the Pioneers down, although they did face and defeat Div. I's top goalie (by far). (laxfan1313) — #6, -3. Crushed the visitors from Marquette 15-4. Visiting Bellarmine gave the hosts a great battle. Their GK had 20 saves, but the Pioneers prevailed 11-10 in 2 OT. Tough road game ahead as the Pioneers head east to play at Loyola. (Lax Fidelis) — #2. Squeaked by Bellarmine. (maddog9718) — 3. Hobart and Marquette fall. (OCanada) — RR#4. (randyrad) — #5-Smoked Marquette, then nipped Bellarmine in 2OT. (Strannywastheman) — Just keep on winning! Dodged a bullet from Bellarmine. (Tecumseh) — #3. (VTD)

Notre Dame: Finally, a win not coming from behind in the last two minutes. (Baldo) — #5. (Cooter) — #3. (dek) — #4. (Humb le) — Over Providence and Marquette. (jhu7276) — My #3. #6 SOS and #1 RPI keep the Fighting Irish in the 3rd spot. (laxfan1313) — #3, +1. The Irish didn't waste any time dispatching Marquette 17-5 in a neutral site tilt. On the road again at Providence, UND won 13-8. Georgetown visits after knocking off St. John's, who just beat the Irish two weeks ago; it should be an interesting game. (Lax Fidelis) — 6. Losing to St. John's was unexpected. Marquette should not be a problem. Offense has become difficult as teams have adjusted. (OCanada) — RR#3. (randyrad) — #2-Marquette no match, but Providence gave them more of a game. (Strannywastheman) — Providence played them very tough. (Tecumseh) — #6. (VTD)

North Carolina: Dispatched the reeling Hoos in C'ville. (Baldo) — #3. (Cooter) — #5. (dek) — #6. (Humb le) — Having a really good year ... 8-3 ... defeated UVa. (jhu7276) — My #4. Defeated Virginia last week, and the talent seems to be approaching its potential at last. (laxfan1313) — #5, +1. Tar Heels ground out an 10-7 win at Virginia. UNC takes a week off from ACC play to visit Hofstra, which has struggled recently. Saw these two meet in Charlotte last season, a good game between two solid squads. (Lax Fidelis) — #5. Beat UVa in C'ville. (maddog9718) — 4. Handled UVa at Klockner. Their defense has improved in the last three weeks. (OCanada) — RR#5. (randyrad) — #3-Beat Hoos, but closer than expected. (Strannywastheman) — Can they keep it going? Beat an average UVa. (Tecumseh) — #4. (VTD)

Loyola: Hounds finally finding their mojo? (Baldo) — #4. (Cooter) — #7. (dek) — #7. (Humb le) — Big game vs. Denver this week. (jhu7276) — My #6. The Greyhounds are a question mark to me - #26 SOS and #10 RPI tell me they might be a tad overrated. (laxfan1313) — #4, +1. Fairfield was sent back to CT with a 13-7 loss on their record. ECAC regular season game of the year looms as Denver will be in town on Saturday, pitting Tierney against his former long-time assistant, Dave Metzbower, who joined Toomey's Greyhound staff for 2013. (Lax Fidelis) — #6. Handled a good Fairfield team. (maddog9718) — 5. They have regained their consistency. (OCanada) — RR#6. (randyrad) — #9-Easily handled Fairfield. (Strannywastheman) — Regaining the form from the end of last season. (Tecumseh) — #9. (VTD)

Duke: Not much of a challenge week. (Baldo) — #12. (Cooter) — #6. (dek) — #5. (Humb le) — On a 7-game win streak, and their favorite patsy UVa is up next. (jhu7276) — My #9. Defeating High Point doesn't elevate the Blue Devils in the poll. (laxfan1313) — #9, -1. 9-4 Blue Devils hosted 1st-year High Point and dispatched them with "only" a 17-6 shellacking. Pretty sure Duke got everyone some PT in that one. 5-6 UVa visits Durham on Friday, and Duke has owned them of late; look for another Cavalier loss - rout likely. (Lax Fidelis) — 7. The narrow win over Harvard does not look so questionable now. (OCanada) — RR#7. (randyrad) — #6-Crushed High Point - 7 in a row. (Strannywastheman) — Getting stronger everyday. (Tecumseh) — #8. (VTD)

Syracuse: Stirring come-from-behind win at Old Nassau. (Baldo) — #8. (Cooter) — #8. (dek) — #8. (Humb le) — Beat Tigers and Griffs. (jhu7276) — My #7. Impressive victory over a re-loaded Princeton. Game this week vs. the Big Red should be a dome-burner! (laxfan1313) — #7, +2. The Orange and Tigers put on a great show Saturday evening at Princeton. Fast-paced, plenty of goals as JoJo Marasco led the SU rally to win 13-12. Cornell visits midweek in a monster match-up; woeful Rutgers visits on Saturday. (Lax Fidelis) — #7. Big win against Princeton. (maddog9718) — 8. Narrow win over Princeton. (OCanada) — RR#8. (randyrad) — #7-Quality win over Princeton. (Strannywastheman) — Nice win over Princeton. (Tecumseh) — #5. (VTD)

Princeton: Could not hold the fort late against the Cruisers. (Baldo) — #11. (Cooter) — #9. (dek) — #14. (Humb le) — Lose by 1 to Cuse ... no biggie. (jhu7276) — My #8. Despite losing to Syracuse, hanging in the top 10 and improving week by week. The 4/27 showdown with the Big Red in the Meadowlands is shaping up to be a classic. (laxfan1313) — #8, -1. Tigers hosted Syracuse in the big stadium and the two teams put on a great show. Unfortunately for the hosts, the Orange rallied to grab a 13-12 win as JoJo Marasco led his squad's rally. Rutgers will be town for a midweek game; Princeton then heads to Dartmouth. (Lax Fidelis) — #11. Edged by the Orange. (maddog9718) — 9. Narrow loss to Cuse. Two very evenly matched teams. (OCanada) — RR#9. (randyrad) — #8-Got beat by Cuse in a close one. (Strannywastheman) — Tough loss to the Orange. (Tecumseh) — #7. (VTD)

Bucknell: Hard fought Patriot win against the Black Knights of the Hudson. (Baldo) — #7. (Cooter) — #12. (dek) — #11. (Humb le) — Beat the Black Knights. (jhu7276) — My #11. Beat a surging Army team this week. (laxfan1313) — #13, +2. Bison remained unbeaten in Patriot League play by edging Army at West Point, 9-8. The next game should determine which school hosts the tournament - also undefeated Lehigh visits Lewisburg. No TV coverage as CBSSN opted for Army at Navy, alas. (Lax Fidelis) — #13. Defeated a good Army team. (maddog9718) — 10. Narrow win over Army and beat Holy Cross. (OCanada) — RR#11. (randyrad) — #12-Just beat Army in a close one. (Strannywastheman) — Dismissed Army and looks like the PL favorite. (Tecumseh) — #11. (VTD)

Penn State: Buried Drexel with ease. (Baldo) — #9. (Cooter) — #10. (dek) — #10. (Humb le) — On a 6-game win streak. (jhu7276) — My #10. Impressive takedown of Drexel and #11 SOS and #8 RPI keep the Nittany Lions in the top 10. (laxfan1313) — #10, +3. Lions doubled up the visiting Dragons from Drexel, 13-6. PSU (8-3, 3-0 CAA) ran off 7 straight goals over an 11-minute span in the second half to give Drexel its 1st league loss. Resilient Towson visits State College on Saturday. (Lax Fidelis) — #9. No trouble handling a good Drexel team. (maddog9718) — 11. Beat Drexel. After losing three in a row, they have run off a bunch of wins. (OCanada) — RR#10. (randyrad) — #10-Took care of Drexel easily. (Strannywastheman) — Clubbed Drexel badly. (Tecumseh) — #10. (VTD)

Penn: Another league win - looks like Ivy playoff in the cards. (Baldo) — #10. (Cooter) — #15. (dek) — #9. (Humb le) — 6-3. (jhu7276) — My #13. Defeated Brown this week. #1 SOS and #3 RPI, but loss to Yale last week keeps them a notch below the Bulldogs. (laxfan1313) — #11, +1. Dominant road win for the Quakers at Brown as they completely shut down the Bruins offense in a 10-3 victory. Next up: at Harvard, which has just played two great games against Duke and Cornell yet lost both of them late. (Lax Fidelis) — #12. Held Brown to 3 goals in convincing win. (maddog9718) — 18. After losses to Cornell and Princeton, they beat another Ivy. (OCanada) — RR#13. (randyrad) — #11-Brown no competition. (Strannywastheman) — Brown was no match for Coach Murphy's troops. (Tecumseh) — #16. (VTD)

Ohio State: Nice home win against Hobart. (Baldo) — #16. (Cooter) — #11. (dek) — #13. (Humb le) — Bounce back vs. Hobart. (jhu7276) — My #19. Beat Hobart 10-6. #21 SOS and #9 RPI keep the Buckeyes in the hunt for an at-large bid. (laxfan1313) — #14, -3. 10-6 win over visiting Hobart puts the Buckeyes at 7-3 with a trip to Ann Arbor next. OSU should finish the regular season at 10-3 before Big East tournament. (Lax Fidelis) — 13. Lost to Loyola in what could have been a big win and came back to beat Hobart. (OCanada) — RR#12. (randyrad) — #14-Totally unimpressive over a not very good Hobart. (Strannywastheman) — Smacked down Hobart. (Tecumseh) — #12. (VTD)

Albany: Defense and goal showed up for a change - an inspired win at Homewood. (Baldo) — #14. (Cooter) — #13. (dek) — #12. (Humb le) — Three wins in a row ... beat both Cuse and JHU in away games this year. (jhu7276) — My #15. Defeat of the Blue Jays and scoring 24 goals against Hartford puts Albany at #15 this week. (laxfan1313) — #16, +7. In just their 2nd win in 12 tries at Homewood Field, the Great Danes severely damaged any Hopkins hope of making the NCAAs with their 10-9 victory. On Sunday Albany rang up 24 tallies against Hartford. Ouch. Danes shouldn't have any trouble winning at Vermont. (Lax Fidelis) — #14. Impressive win (and goal tending) at Homewood. (maddog9718) — 14. They win a game they lost on paper. A really nice win for the Danes with their top scorer blanked. (OCanada) — RR#15. (randyrad) — #17-Knocked off Hop. Riordan stopped everything. Great stick. Balanced scoring. Annihilated Hartford. (Strannywastheman) — A statement win over the Blue Jays. (Tecumseh) — #13. (VTD)

Yale: Hard time with lowly Dartmouth. (Baldo) — #13. (Cooter) — #14. (dek) — #16. (Humb le) — Three wins in a row. (jhu7276) — My #12. Defeated Dartmouth and Providence this week. #5 SOS keeps the Bulldogs at #12 this week. (laxfan1313) — #20, +1. 6-3 Bulldogs coasted past visiting Providence 13-6. Beat Dartmouth 7-5 in a surprisingly close game. Friday evening finds Brown in New Haven. (Lax Fidelis) — 17. Two wins after their Princeton loss. (OCanada) — RR#17. (randyrad) — #15-Started slow then rolled Prov. Dartmouth hung around until the end. Offense stalled. (Strannywastheman) — Dismissed a weak Dartmouth. (Tecumseh) — #14. (VTD)

St. John's: #15. (Cooter) — #19. (dek) — #15. (Humb le) — My #17. Loss to Georgetown is the big thud of the week. (laxfan1313) — #12, -2. Oops. Just when the Red Storm fans were becoming delirious after their win at Notre Dame, Georgetown turned up in Queens and snatched a 14-13 OT victory. No easier this week: Villanova will be in town. (Lax Fidelis) — #17. Stumbled against Georgetown. (maddog9718) — 16. Lost to GT. A disappointing loss in a game I thought they would win. (OCanada) — RR#16. (randyrad) — #13-Georgetown beats Johnnies in a bigger upset than Albany over Hop. (Strannywastheman) — Thud of the week going down to the Hoyas. (Tecumseh) — #15. (VTD)

Lehigh: Critical conference win against Colgate. (Baldo) — #20. (Cooter) — #18. (dek) — #17. (Humb le) — Winners of 3 in a row and 5 of their last 6. (jhu7276) — My #20. Beat fading Colgate this week. (laxfan1313) — #15, +2. High-scoring shootout win for Hawks over the Baum-led Colgate Raiders. Lehigh FOGO committed five 2nd half infractions, but they still won 13-10 after 8-8 tie at the end of Q3. 6 of 8 EMO conversions for Lehigh made the difference. At Bucknell Friday evening to determine host site for playoffs. (Lax Fidelis) — 19. Three wins after the loss to UMass. (OCanada) — RR#14. (randyrad) — #20-Beat a fading Colgate. (Strannywastheman) — Sent Colgate home. (Tecumseh) — #17. (VTD)

Johns Hopkins: THUD of the week. How are things on that bubble? (Baldo) — #17. (Cooter) — #16. (dek) — #20. (Humb le) — Losers of 3 of the last 4 and F-105 THUD of the week (or perhaps the entire season) goes to the Jays' offense ... Testudo's shell seems impenetrable ... JHU singing "Brother Love's Salvation Show" for help. (jhu7276) — My #16. Losing to Albany 10-9 not the big thud of the week. According to laf, the Blue Jays are outside the tourney bubble this week. (laxfan1313) — #19, -5. Digging themselves ever-deeper into a hole for making the NCAAs, the Blue Jays lost to Albany at home, 10-9. Given that their next game is at Maryland, times are tough for Petro's team. (Lax Fidelis) — #15. Offense held in check by Danes, will defintely need it for the upcoming Terps. (maddog9718) — 12. If stats were everything there was, JHU beats Albany. But they are not, and Jays continue to lose games they need to win. (OCanada) — RR#19. (randyrad) — #18-Lost to Albany at home. Bassett, Stanwick, Poppleton were terrific. (Strannywastheman) — #18. (VTD)

Drexel: Did not show up against Nittanies. (Baldo) — #18. (Cooter) — #17. (dek) — #18. (Humb le) — My #14. Loss to Penn State drops the Dragons a bit. (laxfan1313) — #18, -2. The Dragons traveled to State College and got pounded 13-6 by a surging PSU team. On the road again this week at UMass, which seems to be falling apart, having just lost at Towson by 4. (Lax Fidelis) — 15. Loss by a good margin to PSU. (OCanada) — RR#18. (randyrad) — #19-Got handled by Penn State. (Strannywastheman) — #23. (VTD)

Hofstra: Taking the long road back to respectability. (Baldo) — #19. (Cooter) — #19. (Humb le) — #21. (laxfan1313) — #17, +1. Dutchmen rolled in Philly against St. Joe's, winning 13-1. A very tough and sizzling UNC squad will be in Uniondale this Saturday. (Lax Fidelis) — RR#21. (randyrad) — #22-Beat up on St. Joe's. (Strannywastheman) — #24. (VTD)

Virginia: Have we hit the bottom of this well yet? (Baldo) — #21. Probably as good as many of the teams in the ranking, but a losing record knocks them out. (Cooter) — #20. (dek) — Lose to UNC ... a season to forget for Dom and the boys so far ... Duke coming up next. (jhu7276) — #22. (laxfan1313) — 20. Who is more disappointed, JHU or UVa? At least the UVa fans are looking in the right places, I think, and not blaming their coach. (OCanada) — RR#23. (randyrad) — #16-Gave the Heels a better game than expected. (Strannywastheman) — #22. (VTD)

Bellarmine: #22. Came close, taking Denver to OT. (Cooter) — My #18. Taking Denver to 2OTs before succumbing deserves recognition. Dillon Ward running away with the 1st Team AA goalie slot. (laxfan1313) — #21, +3. Great effort by the Knights' GK Dillon Ward with 20 saves, which almost stole a win at Denver; the Pioneers finally won 11-10 in double OT. Hobart visits Louisville on Saturday. (Lax Fidelis) — RR#24. (randyrad) — #23-Took Denver to 2OTs. Maybe these guys are better than I thought. (Strannywastheman) — Played Denver very tough! (Tecumseh) — #19. (VTD)

Colgate: #25. (laxfan1313) — #22. Now 7-4 Raiders are fading away with yet another Patriot League loss, this time at Lehigh by a score of 13-10. EMO carried the day - Lehigh was 6 of 8, Colgate only 1 of 7. Raiders should get a win at hapless Lafayette. (Lax Fidelis) — RR#22. (randyrad) — Coach Murphy needs his troops to regroup. (Tecumseh)

Marist: #24, -4. No games. 7-2 Red Foxes return to the field with a road trip to Jacksonville. (Lax Fidelis)

Towson: RR#20. (randyrad) — #20. (VTD)

Army: #25, NR. 6-4 Black Knights make it in as UVa and UMass are now below .500 and Villanova hasn't made it there in 2013. Army dominated Colgate on the road on Easter Sunday and probably should have beaten Bucknell, only to lose 9-8 to the 10-2 Bison. At Navy on CBSSports. (Lax Fidelis) — #21-Battled the Bison, came up just short. (Strannywastheman) — An angry Army team is coming to visit the Mids at Navy. Season long bragging rights on the line and maybe Sowell's job. (Tecumseh) — #25. (VTD)

Brown: #23. (laxfan1313) — #23, +2. Dumped 10-3 by the visiting Quakers, Bruno will trundle down I-95 to play at Yale Friday evening. (Lax Fidelis) — #25-Got smoked by Penn. (Strannywastheman) — #21. (VTD)
