Pollsters' Comments About Teams They Ranked

Maryland: Great win. Senior leadership leading the way ... Niko/Chanenchuk. (arealax) — Terps are #1 this week easily after dispatching Duke at home. They look very tough, but then again they did sort of look this way last year before flaming out. (Baldo) — #1. Terps rising. New number 1. (dek) — #1. So many offensive weapons on this Ferrari ... but fatty worried that Chanenchuk tires are NOT run flats. If he's not feeling it or gets hurt ... contingency plan? (Fattylax) — #1 Beat Devils by 4. (hoyaboy) — Testudo beats the Blue (Devil) Bunny and wins last weekend's race ... takes over the top spot ... target now on Testudo's shell. (jhu7276) — My #1. Almost doubled up Duke. The clear #1 this week. (laxfan1313) — #1, +2. Duke visited Maryland and, as has often been the case in recent years, lost the early season match-up, 10-6. UMd heads to LI next to play Stony Brook. (Lax Fidelis) — #1. So much for learning curves. Best resume in D1 with two big wins. (maddog9718) — 1. No disputing this team's accomplishments to date. (OCanada) — Good win over Duke. Heading to the Island this week to play SBU. Big date with UNC on the 23rd. (PSU) — RR#1. (randyrad) — #1 LW1 Too much for Duke. Stingy D led by Amato. Time to give the Terps their due. (Strannywastheman) — Top Turtles. Coach T has the boys on TOP! (Tecumseh) — #1. (VTD)

Virginia: Good start for their ACC play against a Cuse team looking to bounce back. (arealax) — Cruised to a home win over the Cruisers going away. Hoos have managed to weather all challenges so far. Not often pretty, but no losses so far. (Baldo) — #8. Hoos need to improve in goal to go anywhere this season. (dek) — #2. Pannell played like a 15-year-old at a U11 summer low-case tourney, dominant. (Fattylax) — #2 Looked vs. good vs. Cuse. (hoyaboy) — Wahoos workin' on their Bob Seger "night moves" yesterday bombarding the Cuse goal ... UVa "is back, Jack!" ... My number 2 right now. (jhu7276) — My #2. Sweet Baby James (Pannell) has come out of the shadow of big bro' Rob with 7 goals against the Orange. Cavs are clicking now. Look out Cornell - Cavs invading the 'kopf on Saturday. (laxfan1313) — #3, +6. It was the James Pannell show, as he pumped in 7 against the Syracuse "defense" in a 17-12 win. Interesting road game ahead when they head to likely frigid Ithaca to play Big Red, which struggled for a win at Michigan. (Lax Fidelis) — #4. The Nick O'Reilly void seems like a distant memory with the way Pannell has been playing. Questions in cage, though. (maddog9718) — 2. While not as big as the Maryland victory, it was solid. (OCanada) — Beat Syracuse. Scoring a lot of points. Cornell, Notre Dame and Hopkins over the next few weeks. (PSU) — RR#2. (randyrad) — #3 LW4 Rolled the Mount, Cuse easily. Offense clicking. Looking strong. (Strannywastheman) — The Wahoos have their way with Orange. (Tecumseh) — #2. (VTD)

Duke: Tough road loss ... and back on the road next week against the high-scoring Hounds. (arealax) — Never in it against the Terps at Byrd. Will have to wait for another day and another shot at the Terps. (Baldo) — #2. Early season loss to the Terps. It's like déjà vu all over again for Danowski's Blue Devils. (dek) — #11. Middies need to carry the attack now and didn't against the Terps. Got half the CTOs Maryland did, and that was the difference. (Fattylax) — Taken down by the Terps, but this team is still a tough out ... they will still be there at playoff time. Another biggie vs. the Hounds this week. (jhu7276) — My #5. Convincing defeat by the Terps drops last week's #1 Blue Devils. They will surely rise from here. (laxfan1313) — #4, -3. Duke lost at Maryland 10-6, and their next game isn't very easy either, as they head to Loyola. Terps dominated the second half, outscoring the Blue Devils 4-1. (Lax Fidelis) — #2. Tripped up by the Terps and tough match-up w/ the Hounds up next. (maddog9718) — 3. Loss to Maryland. I was surprised at how they were controlled. (OCanada) — Lost to Maryland. Big game on the 9th vs. Loyola. (PSU) — RR#3. (randyrad) — #2 LW2 Terp D very tough, lack of offense a concern. These guys will be prepared next time they face. (Strannywastheman) — Worst shooting midfield in the land at something like 1-18. (Tecumseh) — #3. (VTD)

Loyola: Nice back to back wins in the PL. Big game with Devils. (arealax) — Demolished a good Lehigh squad at their place. Looks like the Patriot League crown is a lock. (Baldo) — #3. Greyhounds are on fire, with Duke up next. (dek) — #5. Playing like the old tiger Woods, when we liked him. MERCILESS. (Fattylax) — One-goal loss in first game to Cavs but since unbeaten. If they beat the Devils, "it's a bingo!" according to Christoph Waltz as Col. Landa. (jhu7276) — My #3. On a roll - doubled up Lehigh. (laxfan1313) — #2, +5. Greyhounds rolling now after a dominant 14-7 win at Lehigh. Loyola will host Duke next Sunday and the Blue Devils should be smarting from the spanking Maryland laid on them. (Lax Fidelis) — #3. Continues to roll. (maddog9718) — 5. Only loss on a disputed goal at Virginia. (OCanada) — Beat Lehigh. Only blemish is an OT loss to Virginia. The Hounds have outscored their opponents 50-15 over the past three games. (PSU) — RR#4. (randyrad) — #4 LW5 Started slow, then cruised over Lehigh. Hounds offense explosive. (Strannywastheman) — Coach T's boys run Lehigh off the field in a very convincing fashion. Love PL TV for free! (Tecumseh) — #4. (VTD)

Johns Hopkins: Nice road win. (arealax) — First quality win for the Jays against nemesis from Old Nassau. (Baldo) — #7. Hopkins rolled the Tigers. Blue Jays look like they're for real. (dek) — #4. It's like a Dickens story: the ghost of lacrosse fun visited someone at JHU. Balanced. (Fattylax) — "Got their mojo risin'" ... defeat of Tigers on the road is big, but plenty more games to go ... can't take ANY opponent lightly ... playing like a top 10 squad so far. (jhu7276) — My #8. Dominating defeat of the Tigers moves the Blue Jays into my top 10. (laxfan1313) — #8, +7. 6-goal win at Princeton moves the young Hopkins squad up many slots when coupled with multiple upsets above them. Jays play at Mt. St. Mary's and UMBC this week. (Lax Fidelis) — #7. Convincing win against Princeton. (maddog9718) — 6. Undefeated and looking solid across the board. Goalie play has helped a lot. (OCanada) — Nice win over Princeton. (PSU) — RR#5. (randyrad) — #7 LW9 Decisively beat Princeton. (Strannywastheman) — Very strong win over Princeton, Very focused. (Tecumseh) — #10. (VTD)

Notre Dame: Gutted out the comeback against UNC. (arealax) — Gutsy comeback win on the road against ACC foe. Trouble is the Irish seem to do this all too often - fall behind and then scrap back for a win. (Baldo) — #5. Huge comeback win for the Fighting Irish. Welcome to the ACC. (dek) — #10. Defense lived up to its billing. (Fattylax) — Pios up on the schedule next, and the loser is gonna drop. (jhu7276) — My #4. Defeated last week's #2/3 Tar Heels. (laxfan1313) — #5, +3. Excellent comeback win for the Irish at Carolina, both in the second half and after a home loss the prior week. UND plays Denver in inaugural Pacific Coast Shootout. (Lax Fidelis) — #6. Gutted out a big win in Chapel Hill. (maddog9718) — 10. Benefited from UNC's Christmas gifts. (OCanada) — Nice win over North Carolina. Lost to Penn State. Denver next. (PSU) — RR#7. (randyrad) — #6 LW11 Impressive comeback over Heels. (Strannywastheman) — Sweet comeback for the in Chapel Hill. (Tecumseh) — #6. (VTD)

Penn State: B1G win. (arealax) — Nittanies win again in the Shoe over the Buckeyes. Never in doubt. (Baldo) — #4. Took down B1G rival OSU. Should match up well with Denver. (dek) — #9. Hyperbolic chambers all week for the Nit-lions. (Fattylax) — Two "quality"? wins in a row ... another large test coming with Denver in the "battle of the Coaches T". (jhu7276) — My #7. Defeated OSU last week. (laxfan1313) — #10. Nittany Lions won at Ohio State, 11-8. PSU is off until March 10 when they play at Denver. (Lax Fidelis) — #5. Beat tOSU. (maddog9718) — 7. Only loss is to Loyola. (OCanada) — Only loss was in OT to Loyola. Good wins over Notre Dame and Ohio State. (PSU) — RR#6. (randyrad) — #5 LW6 Had some trouble, but put away Bucks. (Strannywastheman) — Beat a winless Buckeye team. (Tecumseh) — #5. (VTD)

North Carolina: Tail of two halves ... need to play full 60 minutes. (arealax) — DOUBLE THUD of the week - blowing a lead at home to the Irish. Ugly. Does this picture look familiar? (Baldo) — #6. Surprisingly, struggled at FO in the loss to UND. (dek) — #13. "How soon is now" holds true. Flowhawks for everyone, toughen up these laxbros. (Fattylax) — Big one coming up vs. Princeton ... ND knocked them off ... talented, but cliche, "lacrosse is a TEAM sport" ... no "quality" wins yet? (jhu7276) — My #6. Loss to last week's #9/11 Fighting Irish moves the Tar Heels down. (laxfan1313) — #6, -4. Heels played well in the 1st half, Notre Dame won the 2nd half in Chapel Hill and the game, 11-10. UNC visits Princeton for Friday night game; Tigers need to be in recovery mode after home loss to Hopkins. Great game between them in 2013. (Lax Fidelis) — #8. Denver deja vu. Can't overcome failed clears and penalties if you're not winning FOs. (maddog9718) — 4. Had the game in control and then got three unreleasable penalties and lost composure, it seems. (OCanada) — Lost to Notre Dame. Princeton next. (PSU) — RR#8. (randyrad) — #9 LW7 Blew a 5-goal lead to Irish. (Strannywastheman) — Can't clear in the 4th quarter and blew a game at home, tough loss. (Tecumseh) — #7. (VTD)

Syracuse: Time to re-group. (arealax) — No face-offs, no defense equals another loss. Quite the mess right now. (Baldo) — #10. Cuse looks like their talent hasn't really come together yet. With this year's schedule, they don't have much slack to figure things out. (dek) — #19. Have "bad to ZONE" on iPod replay. Worst zone defense ever. It's just not "cool" to play hard and hustle, fatty guesses. Travel to face a great attack unit next. (Fattylax) — Defensive woes, face-off, ground balls all hurting right now ... looking to regain the H,H,H (no, not Hubert Horatio Humphrey, kids) ... do NOT count them out. (jhu7276) — My #9. Two straight crushing losses (Maryland and Virginia) to top 3 teams require downward adjustment. The Orangemen will surely right the ship. (laxfan1313) — #9, -4. Orange lose 2nd in a row in a fast-paced shootout at UVa; face-off and clearing woes continue to plague the Orange. Syracuse on two-game losing streak, heads to Georgia to play a tough St. John's squad. (Lax Fidelis) — #10. Face-offs (and ssdm play) are significant concerns. (maddog9718) — 15. Two bad losses in a row move them down. Another and they leave the top 20. (OCanada) — Losses to Maryland and Virginia. Better tighten up, they have given up 49 goals in the past three games. (PSU) — RR#9. (randyrad) — #8 LW3 Spanked by Hoos. (Strannywastheman) — Tough lose indeed to UVa! (Tecumseh) — #8. (VTD)

Massachusetts: Gorillas demolished Brown by 13 - they are going to be a very tough out, I think. (Baldo) — #12. Crushed Brown. Albany up next. (dek) — #3. Mariano and lunch pail bros playing early season donkey kong. Fun one coming up in Amherst. (Fattylax) — Smoked the Bears and have HUGE game against the Great Scoobies this week. Adjusting their tricorn hats this week up in Amherst. (jhu7276) — My #13. Beat Brown 15-2. #3 RPI this week. (laxfan1313) — #13, +3. Minutemen pummeled Brown in Providence, 15-2. Albany will be in Amherst; high-scoring shootout should entertain the hometown Gorilla fans. (Lax Fidelis) — #11. Beat down Brown. (maddog9718) — 9. Undefeated YTD. (OCanada) — Good wins over Army and Ohio State. Just pounded Brown. (PSU) — RR#10. (randyrad) — #11 Smoked Brown. (Strannywastheman) — Just keep on winning! An old fashion beat-down of Brown. (Tecumseh) — #9. (VTD)

Penn: Gritty comeback win over the Pios at home. Quakes could be in the Ivy race until the end. (Baldo) — #11. Traded blows with Denver in a back and forth game and came away with the win. (dek) — #12. Finally living up to all the hype. Feeney bros. are the sextant. (Fattylax) — #6 Beat Denver, move up. (hoyaboy) — Sweet win over Denver for the University City Market Streeters, 2-1 now ... can they continue the good play? (jhu7276) — My #10. Defeat of Denver makes the Quakers the current class of the Ivies. #9 on the computer with #6 SOS and #9 RPI. (laxfan1313) — #17, +3. Huge 12-10 home win for the Quakers over the visiting Denver Pioneers. Big rally keyed the win. Penn takes a short road trip up Route 30 to play Villanova. (Lax Fidelis) — #9. Big win against Denver. (maddog9718) — 11. After a close lose to Duke they have done well. (OCanada) — Beat Denver lost to Duke. (PSU) — RR#11. (randyrad) — #13 Handled St. Joe's, then take Pios. Quakes look very good. (Strannywastheman) — Comeback win over Denver. Very impressive indeed. (Tecumseh) — #11. (VTD)

Yale: Dodged a bullet squeaking by Bryant on the road. (Baldo) — #9. Good win over Bryant to start a tough slate of games through the month of March. (dek) — #6. Character builder against namesake. (OCanada) — Untested. (PSU) — RR#12. (randyrad) — #10 LW10 Barely got by Bryant. (Strannywastheman) — Beat a very good Bryant team. A real test this week with Fairfield. (Tecumseh) — #12. (VTD)

Denver: THUD of the week - blow a late lead on the road to Penn. Very sloppy play - Coach T cannot be a happy camper. (Baldo) — #13. Pios are looking for a big win with UND and PSU coming up. Nova and Rutgers look like interesting Big East match-ups. (dek) — #20. A Duke-like start and end in 2014 for Pioneers? Pick a guy and stay with 'em ... in net. (Fattylax) — Another big one vs. ND this week ... loss to the Quakes was my F-105 Thunderchief THUD of the week ... drop from top 10. (jhu7276) — My #11. Two-goal defeat by last week's #19/20 Penn necessitates downward adjustment. (laxfan1313) — #7, -3. Pioneers led early, but Penn rallied to beat the visitors 12-10. Denver heads to Costa Mesa, CA to play Notre Dame. (Lax Fidelis) — #13. Tripped up by Penn. (maddog9718) — 14. Losses to Duke and Penn. (OCanada) — Losses to Duke and Penn. Notre Dame next then quick turnaround and Penn State two days later. (PSU) — RR#14. (randyrad) — #14 LW8 Not that surprising a loss to a good Penn. (Strannywastheman) — A thud in Philly like eating a bad cheese steak. (Tecumseh) — #14. (VTD)

Princeton: Shown up by the Blue Jays at home. Ouch. (Baldo) — #14. Tiger's young defense, which gave up 15 goals to the Blue Jays, will get another big test vs. the Heels on Friday. (dek) — #16. Bonked in the 2nd half like a placebo taking Tour de France bike rider. Not impressed with the Tigers ... yet. (Fattylax) — Exposed a bit by the Blue Jays ... looks like Ivy League may be wide open this year. (jhu7276) — My #12. Six-goal loss to JHU last week. (laxfan1313) — #12, -6. 14-8 midweek win at Manhattan didn't prepare the Tigers for Hopkins' attack and the Jays cruised 15-9. Tigers host UNC on Friday night; one team will be looking at a 2-game losing streak late Friday evening. (Lax Fidelis) — #14. Lost to the Jays. (maddog9718) — 12. A few things to work out. I don't think their offense or defense are right yet. (OCanada) — Lost to the Hop. Pissed off Carolina team up next. Better bring the A game. (PSU) — RR#13. (randyrad) — #12 Easily over Manhattan; Hop way too much. (Strannywastheman) — Lost to a very strong Hopkins team. I thought this would be closer. (Tecumseh) — #13. (VTD)

Albany: Handled Harvard with ease at home - offense still in high gear. Defense was better this week. (Baldo) — #16. Eight goals from Miles helps the Danes to their first win. Albany's got some tough out-of-conference games coming before they hit their America East schedule. (dek) — Can make a statement if they can take down the Minutes ... BIG game for them and for UMass both ... beating "the Cause", so what, yaw. (jhu7276) — My #15. Beat Harvard 14-8. (laxfan1313) — #14, -2. The Danes got their 1st win of the year over Harvard, 14-8, at home. UMass visits Albany; that should be a fun game for the casual fan. (Lax Fidelis) — 16. Took out a decent Harvard team. (OCanada) — RR#15. (randyrad) — #15 Easily over Harvard. Never know which Dane team gets off the bus. (Strannywastheman) — Powerful win over Harvard. Tough set of games coming. (Tecumseh) — #19. (VTD)

Cornell: Escaped from Ann Arbor with a win in OT that should not have been that close to begin with. Giving up 14 goals in Michigan is not a good sign. (Baldo) — #19. Won an OT thriller vs. Michigan to go 3-0. (dek) — Playing 4th quarter catch up a la NE Pats going to cost them soon. #7. (Fattylax) — One-goaler vs. Wolverines not impressive ... have Golden Griffs followed by Hoos. (jhu7276) — My #16. Courageous OT victory at Michigan in an indoor facility w/ a hostile crowd. Don't get caught looking ahead to Virginia on the 8th. (PSU) — RR#16. (randyrad) — #18 Beat Bingo, then Michigan takes them to OT??? Michigan indoor venue is funky, but this was a poor display by Red. The spin cycle has begun in Ithaca. (Strannywastheman) — Win a tight one! (Tecumseh) — #16. (VTD)

Lehigh: Never showed up for a home Patriot League game with Loyola. (Baldo) — #17. Not much offensive production from the Hawks in their PL showdown with the Hounds. (dek) — #14. (Strannywastheman) — Solid win over Robert Morris! (Tecumseh) — #18. (VTD)

Ohio State: Bucks still cannot catch a break. They are competitive but cannot seem to get a W.
