Pollsters' Comments About Teams They Ranked

Salisbury: 18-0 in regular season ... ran through the South. Who will defeat them? Cortland or Gettysburg? (boartusk) — Enter the NCAAs undefeated, again ... handled WAC, seem to be peaking. (D-III) — #1. (general21111) — Not much to say here. The Gulls finish at 18-0 again. A 15-11 win over Washington is a prelude to the real challenge ... stay focused for the NCAA championship run. Plenty of warm weather to practice and condition in will keep the Gulls sharp. (laxie) — Another undefeated regular season. #1. (minkhoo) — #1. It is amazing how the Gulls react when their back is to the wall. (Richard) — Defeated WAC in the War on the Shore. 18-0. (stamp) — #1 Yet another War on the Shore win. Waiting for NCAAs at this point. (stewlaxdad) — This team is playing its best ball these days, but the tournament will be a challenge for the Gulls. (thatsmell) — Still number 1. (valaxfan) — #1 as usual. (Youngred)

Cortland: Only one OT loss away from a perfect season. Will they overcome Salisbury in the NCAAs? (boartusk) — Rolling along, only question is whether they will be prepared to face an elite opponent in May after not facing much of a challenge from their conference, even from Geneseo. (D-III) — #2. (general21111) — This is all about numbers as they say in the islands. A average margin of victory of 15 goals per game over league foes is impressive. The SUNYAC playoffs are next with a rematch against Geneseo a guarantee. (laxie) — A series of dominant performances. #2. (minkhoo) — #2. Look to have a clear path to the tournament. (Richard) — Crunched Geneseo and blew out Potsdam. (stamp) — #2 Solid wins over Geneseo and Potsdam this week. Conference tourney up next. (stewlaxdad) — Sent a message vs. Geneseo. This team will be a force in the NCAA tournament. #2. (thatsmell) — Hot, hot, hot. (valaxfan) — Just burying the competition. (Youngred)

Lynchburg: Should roll through the ODAC playoffs. Senior leadership could take this team a long way. (D-III) — #5. (general21111) — The Hornets are the hot team with 12 wins in a row as they enter the ODAC playoffs. 3lax40 sees them as a challenge to Salisbury in the South. My comment here is that the ODAC playoffs are competitive for the near future. (laxie) — Top seed in the ODAC tourney. #3. (minkhoo) — #4. Should get the ODAC AQ. (Richard) — 14-2. Squeaked by Hampden-Sydney and crushed Marymount. (stamp) — #3 Squeaked by HSC and won big over Marymount. Giant killer RMC is up next in the ODAC tourney. (stewlaxdad) — ODAC tourney play opens up this week with tournament newbie R-MC. Have enough talent, if it comes together, to make a nice NCAA run. #3. (thatsmell) — Going into the ODAC tourney as number 1 seed. (valaxfan) — Just barely gets by a down HSC. (Youngred)

Middlebury: Rolling along at the end of the season, as usual. The Panthers should watch out for Williams on Saturday, however ... Could be a close game. (boartusk) — Appear to be hitting their stride. Had little problem with Wesleyan and Tufts on consecutive weekends. Williams will be a test in the NESCAC semifinals. (D-III) — #3. (general21111) — Hello everyone, the Panthers are now 12-1 with the NESCAC playoffs going on this week. Win the NESCAC and they are number 2 in the North for the NCAA. Double D likes their chances. (laxie) — The NESCAC tourney comes to Vermont, again. #5. (minkhoo) — #5. Keep winning vs. strong teams. (Richard) — Rapped up the NESCAC regular season crown and home field by defeating Tufts. Will face the Ephs in the NESCAC semi finals at Middlebury. (stamp) — #5 Solid win over Tufts. Conference tourney is up next. (stewlaxdad) — 12-1 and flying under the national radar. Middlebury teams are always dangerous in May. #4. (thatsmell) — Class of the NESCAC, but they'll have their hands full with Williams. (Youngred)

Gettysburg: Ugly loss to F&M. Need to refocus or they will get clipped in the Centennial tournament and give up the #2 seed in the South. (D-III) — #4. (general21111) — The Bullets take a hit with their loss to F&M. Need to recover and cannot stumble with a very aggressive Centennial playoff run coming up. (laxie) — Stunning stumble against F&M. An anomaly? #6. (minkhoo) — #3. Caught looking past F&M to the Centennial tourney. Maybe a good thing. (Richard) — The Bullets fell to F&M in a shocker. (stamp) — #4 Unacceptable level of play in their loss to an inspired F&M squad Saturday night. Host Swarthmore in the CC semis on Friday - better bring the "A" game every game from now on. (stewlaxdad) — Rule #136 in the Centennial Conference - never sleep on a Cavy coached team. Tough loss to F&M. NOT the way you want to head into the Centennial playoffs. #6. (thatsmell) — Bullets lose to F&M, a team many folks have overlooked. (valaxfan) — Loss vs. F&M has to be considered a blip on the radar. There are no gimmes in the Centennial. (Youngred)

Ithaca: E8 champions, the Bombers will be rolling into the tournament with a lot of confidence and a hot goalie, a good combination. (D-III) — #7. (general21111) — 15-2 final season record with both the regular season Empire 8 title and now the conference playoff championship with a victory over RIT might also give the Bombers the number two spot in the North. Need to stay focused over the next two weeks. (laxie) — Punched their ticket to the NCAAs. #4. (minkhoo) — #6. E8 champs. Strong team. (Richard) — Solid week for the Bombers. Took the Empire 8 title. (stamp) — #6 Solid wins over Elmira, SJF, and RIT this week. (stewlaxdad) — Waxed solid Fisher and RIT teams. Seem to be clicking after some mid-season struggles. 2-2 in one-goal games this year. 0-2 in OT. Will this stat haunt the Bombers come playoff time? #5. (thatsmell) — Gets by RIT as the post-season approaches. (Youngred)

Washington College: Can they overcome the early loss to Gettysburg to win the Centennial AQ? Stay tuned for May 4. (boartusk) — A level below the very top squads but have had a great season and are capable of beating anyone. (D-III) — #6. (general21111) — The Shoremen gave Salisbury a run for their money this past Saturday with a 15-11 loss. They will make noise in the Centennial. 3lax40 likes their path of opportunity in the conference playoffs. (laxie) — A disappointing WOTS. #8. (minkhoo) — #8. Good effort at WOTS. (Richard) — The Shoremen fell to #1 Salisbury. (stamp) — #7 Played Salisbury well in the War on the Shore loss. Meet Haverford again in the CC semis on Friday. (stewlaxdad) — Another year, another loss to Salisbury. But this team should make a run for the highly competitive Centennial crown. #8. (thatsmell) — WAC plays respectably on WOTS. (valaxfan) — Not surprisingly handled by the Gulls. (Youngred)

Cabrini: On cruise control. Will it hurt them in May? (D-III) — #8. (general21111) — The 14-2 Cavs will win the PAC with little or no problem. They will make noise and advance in the NCAA battleground. Eight wins in a row will become 10. (laxie) — Dominant in the PAC. #7. (minkhoo) — #7. Should get the PAC AQ. Strong win over St. Mary's. (Richard) — Easy week for the Cavaliers. (stamp) — #9. (stewlaxdad) — Tuned up for the PAC tournament by doubling up St. Mary's. #7. (thatsmell) — Stomping all over the PAC. (Youngred)

St. Lawrence: Almost gave one away to Skidmore but got through the tough Liberty undefeated. (D-III) — #12. (general21111) — Nine wins in a row for the Saints as they go marching into the Liberty League playoffs. A rematch with either Clarkson or Union will prove interesting. (laxie) — Undefeated in a tough Liberty. #11. (minkhoo) — #10. Finish the Liberty in good shape. The Liberty tournament features some good contests. (Richard) — Squeaked by a tough Skidmore squad, 8-7. (stamp) — #12 Slipped by Skidmore. Liberty tourney is next. (stewlaxdad) — Handled a very good Union team with ease. (thatsmell) — Thought they might handle Skidmore easily after they dismantled Union, but this year anything can happen. (Youngred)

Haverford: Will they pull an upset in the Centennial tourney? (boartusk) — Need to beat WAC to solidify a Pool C bid. Huge game. (D-III) — #9. (general21111) — The Squirrels are currently at 11-3, which is a great improvement over last season's 8-6 record. The conference playoffs plus a game against Washington on the 2nd will be intriguing. (laxie) — A legitimate shot in the Centennial. #13. (minkhoo) — #9. Need a couple of wins in the Centennial tournament. (Richard) — Took care of business against Swarthmore. (stamp) — #10 Beat Swarthmore as expected. Get another shot at WAC in the CC semis on Friday. (stewlaxdad) — 11-3 and playing good ball right now. #9. (thatsmell) — Need to play a whole game vs. WAC in the Centennial playoffs. (Youngred)

Villa Julie: Need win against Stevens to keep Pool C hopes alive. Lacking any big wins this season. (D-III) — #10. (general21111) — Hats off to Villa Julie and Coach Cantebene. Last year they finished 11-5, while this year they are currently at 12-4. A strong showing against Stevens will improve their chances for a NCAA bid. (laxie) — Stevens game might be critical to Pool C hopes. #10. (minkhoo) — #11. Cross your fingers. Strong team that deserves to be in the post-season. (Richard) — No action. 12-4. Looking forward to the tilt against Stevens. (stamp) — #8 Idle this week. (stewlaxdad) — The bad SU loss lingers. A good team, but no good wins to help make NCAA case. (thatsmell) — No games this past week. (Youngred)

Endicott: Had a great regular season. (boartusk) — Other than the inexplicable Wheaton hiccup, this team has quietly put together an outstanding season. (D-III) — #13. (general21111) — Nine wins in a row plus 14-2 as a record has the Power Gulls ready for the Commonwealth roasting. Still do not understand the loss to Wheaton. A rematch against WNEC will be happening for sure. (laxie) — Undefeated in the Commonwealth. #12. (minkhoo) — #13.- Great season. Should get to another game vs. WNEC for the marbles. (Richard) — Rolling along with victories over NEC, Salve Regina, and Curry. (stamp) — #13 Three solid victories this week; tourney is next. (stewlaxdad) — 14-2 with some solid wins and two worrisome losses. (thatsmell) — Skating through the weak part of their schedule. (Youngred)

Geneseo: Weak schedule, tough to place in the rankings, but clearly not in Cortland's league. (D-III) — #11. (general21111) — The Knights could not slay the Dragon and will have a second opportunity on May 3rd. An at-large bid could be in the future, said Double D. (laxie) — Stunned by Cortland. #14. (minkhoo) — #12. Cortland just too strong for the Knights. (Richard) — Took it on the chin from Cortland. (stamp) — #11 Got thumped by Cortland and came back strong against Plattsburgh. Conference tourney next. (stewlaxdad) — Thumped by Cortland. Best win of the season over a struggling Nazareth team. (thatsmell) — Worked over by Cortland. I question their ability to play with the top teams. (Youngred)

Wesleyan: Good recovery after the Middlebury loss. Bowdoin-Wesleyan match on Saturday will be a barn burner. (boartusk) — NESCAC #2 will have a tough one against Bowdoin to return to their fifth consecutive NESCAC final. Can they finally get it done? (D-III) — #14. (general21111) — Wins over Bates and Trinity improve the Cardinals record to 10-4. The NESCAC playoffs continue with a clash pending against the Panthers. (laxie) — Advances to second round of NESCAC. #15. (minkhoo) — #14. Maybe the Cardinals can get through the NESCAC this year. (Richard) — Defeated Bates and took the NESCAC #2 seed. Knocked off Trinity in round one and will face the Polar Bears in the NESCAC semi-finals. (stamp) — #14. (stewlaxdad) — Need to make a run in the tournament for an NCAA bid. (thatsmell) — Must have a strong showing in the NESCAC playoffs. (Youngred)

Denison: The great unknown, but they continue to impress. Appear to be the best team out of Ohio in seven years, which would be a welcome addition to the D3 ranks. (D-III) — #16. (general21111) — Say no more, the Big Red are the one in the North Coast with a 9-2 win over Kenyon. Pool C awaits the outcome of the OWU game May 3rd. Both DD and 3lax40 are now fans of this conference. (laxie) — Winners of nine straight. #9. (minkhoo) — #16. In good shape for a Pool B bid. (Richard) — Crushed Fontbonne and knocked off Kenyon 9-2 and halted their 8-game win streak. (stamp) — #15 Beat Kenyon soundly. OWU is next. (stewlaxdad) — Won nine in a row. #14. (thatsmell) — Solidifies bid for NCAAs. (valaxfan) — Beats Kenyon with no problem. (Youngred)

Clarkson: Having a great season. Big game coming up against Union in the Liberty playoffs could decide a Pool C bid. (D-III) — #15. (general21111) — The Golden Knights could make some noise with a win in the conference finals. At 9-3 they face Union. Home field advantage is big here for the Knights. (laxie) — Second seed in the Liberty. #17. (minkhoo) — #15. Game vs. Union for a shot at Liberty will be a great game. (Richard) — Took care of business against Rensselaer. (stamp) — #20. (stewlaxdad) — #19. (thatsmell) — Playing surprisingly well. (valaxfan) — Great year for Clarkson. (Youngred)

Western New England: Impressive against a solid Springfield team in cross-town rivalry game. Likely need to dethrone Endicott to make the NCAAs. (D-III) — #19. (general21111) — The Bears claw their way up the ladder with a win over cross-town rival Springfield. Could climb further with a strong game against Endicott in the Commonwealth final. (laxie) — Will battle with Endicott for the Commonwealth AQ. #16. (minkhoo) — #18-Good win over Springfield. There should be another date with Endicott soon. (Richard) — Crushed Wentworth and handled Springfield. (stamp) — #16. (stewlaxdad) — Big win over Springfield. (valaxfan) — Good win over Springfield. (Youngred)

Union: See Clarkson comments. (D-III) — #17. (general21111) — The Dutchmen are a solid 11-3 with a golden opportunity this week with the Liberty playoffs. First time in a long time for a playoff game. However, they have to travel north to Potsdam for a clash with the Knights. (laxie) — Third seed in Liberty. #18. (minkhoo) — #17. See Clarkson. (Richard) — Solid week for the Dutchmen with two Ws against Hamilton and the Merchant Marines. (stamp) — #19. (stewlaxdad) — Good season and a good win over the Merchant Marine squad. #18. (thatsmell) — Continues to get it done. (valaxfan)

Bowdoin: #18. (general21111) — Advance to second round of the NESCAC tourney. #23. (minkhoo) — #21. (Richard) — Defeated a good Connecticut College team in OT to reach the NESCAC semifinals. Will face Wesleyan. (stamp) — 10-5 record. The NESCAC Cardiac Kids Part 1. The Polar bears have nine games decided by just 13 goals with four OT games. Could be a NESCAC sleeper if they ride the hot streak into the NCAA tournament. #20. (thatsmell)

Williams: Three one-goal losses. A strong team that gets better every week. (D-III) — #25. (general21111) — Big weekend for the Ephs. #21. (minkhoo) — #20- Playing with confidence at the right time of the year. Started out in my top 20and now are playing like they belong there. (Richard) — Solid week for the Ephs. Defeated NESCAC foe Bowdoin and knocked Tufts out of NESCAC playoffs. Will face Middlebury in the semifinal. (stamp) — 8-5 record. The NESCAC Cardiac Kids Part 2 have five one-goal games this year. Could be a NESCAC sleeper if they ride the hot streak into the NCAA tournament. #21. (thatsmell) — The Ephs are playing strong lacrosse. 3-1 vs. ranked opponents and seem to be hitting their stride, they are my new dark horse in the NESCAC tourney. (Youngred)

Washington & Lee: Second seed in the ODAC. #24. (minkhoo) — #25. (Richard) — Looking for an ODAC title this week. #17. (thatsmell) — Seem to be peaking at the right time. We'll see. (Youngred)

Tufts: Huge loss to Williams. (boartusk) — #21. (general21111) — #17. (stewlaxdad)

RIT: #24. (general21111) — RIT climbs back into the top 20 with wins in five of their last six games. A potential season ending loss to Ithaca in the Empire 8 finals might have left them out of the NCAA tournament. (laxie) — RIT makes a great late season run but will likely miss the NCAAs. #22. (minkhoo)

Muhlenberg: Fourth place team in the very strong Centennial. Will have their hands full with an angry Bullets team. (D-III) — Great effort to get in the Centennial tourney. #19. (minkhoo) — #19- Riding an eight-game winning streak into the top 20. (Richard) — Great season for the Mules; they have to be given their due in the polls. (Youngred)

Kenyon: A lost to Denison still takes nothing away from the Lords and a very successful season. (laxie) — Great shot at a Pool B bid. #20. (minkhoo) — #25. Thumping by Denison makes me lose faith in the Lords. (thatsmell)

Roanoke:

Keene State: #18. (stewlaxdad)

Franklin & Marshall: #20. (general21111) — #22. Huge "program win" for the Dips. I would have loved to have seen this team in the Centennial playoffs. (thatsmell)

Stevens: #22. (general21111) — #22. (Richard)
