Number of voters: 18 (corkscrew, D-III, general21111, goalielax10, idealtin, LaxUnlimited, laxweforget, MasonDixonLine29, minkhoo, Richard, stamp, stewlaxdad, Swank_Lax, thatsmell, turbolax241, valaxfan, wheniwasakid..., Youngred) Pollsters' Comments About Teams They Ranked Stevenson: Good win over WNEC. If this is the best attack in Div. III, why aren't they scoring more goals? (corkscrew) #6- Nice win over a scrappy WNEC team, though the D was aggressive but relatively untested. Offense was able to generate good shots. Surprisingly not a deep team despite massive roster. (D-III) #2--Workmanlike effort over WNEC. (general21111) Outscored their opponents 31-15 this week ... Still my #1 team from the preseason ... We know that they can score goals, but once again the key is the defense and Hebert, and they have been sensational this year ... One week to prepare for Lycoming ... could be another double digit blow out. (goalielax10) Impressive wins this week. Lots of offensive talent. Defense does not appear to be as good as offense. (idealtin) My #1. Beat RIT and an overrated WNEC to stay in my #1 spot. With the Cortland loss, look for the Stangs to jump up to #1 in the Forum poll. Ford might steal player of the year from Kaz! Really looking forward to their game against Stevens on the 17th. (LaxUnlimited) Very fast team ... with Cortland upset probably deserve #1 ranking, for now. (MasonDixonLine29) #1 Wins over RIT and WNEC last week push the Mustangs to #1. (minkhoo) #2. Soundly beat WNEC. They had to play hard to do it, and they looked good doing it. (Richard) Easily defeated the Golden Bears; ripped up RIT. Cruising along at 4 and 0 - #2. (stamp) #4 Beat up on a mediocre RIT and were okay against WNEC. Still want to see them against a top 10 team. (stewlaxdad) #2 Handling everyone with ease so far. (Swank_Lax) Attack strong as expected, but midfield putting up some points too. Last week's #2 jumps up with the Cortland loss. #1. (thatsmell) My #2 - OK, I was wrong: RIT didn't upset Stevenson. And WNEC didn't have a chance. Stevenson lives up to the preseason hype. This is the year they go for the gold, it looks like. Should romp over Lycoming this week. (turbolax241) 1. Handles WNEC. (valaxfan) 1. Mustangs have depth at midfield now whereas that was an early concern. D needs to tighten up a bit but the O looks solid enough to carry them on to great success. (wheniwasakid...) #1 -- Very impressive squad that's been convincing in every game thus far. (Youngred) Gettysburg: Trails Hampden-Sydney by 1 going into the 4th quarter before blowing out the Tigers then holds Cortland's potent offense (?) to 5 goals. Getting it done with Haverford and Cabrini coming up. (corkscrew) #1- Great win for the Bullets. They were really outclassed by Cortland last year, so this will get the monkey off their back. The D looks strong despite losses to graduation, and the O is diverse at midfield and attack. (D-III) #1--Win over Cortland on neutral field is best win of the top contenders and moves the Bullets into first place in my poll. (general21111) The Bullets dominated the face-off X and the tempo of the game against Cortland ... Gettysburg moves up to #3 in my poll ... Brody reminding us that he is still a POY candidate. (goalielax10) Four quality wins and a big one on LI. If the Bullets are this good early, watch out. (idealtin) My #2. Huge win for the Bullets over the highly favored Dragons. Defense proved to be much better than expected. Held Cortland to just one first half goal. Cahill, Lynch, Brody, and McGrath continue to carry this team on offense. (LaxUnlimited) Great win, off to 4-0 start ... should be tied for #1. (MasonDixonLine29) #1A Great win over Cortland pushes Bullets to co-#1 (but I can't have ties, so the Bullets lose the toss). (minkhoo) #3. Upset Cortland and apparently did so with ease. (Richard) The Bullets have been my #2 team since our Feb. 1st poll. They're now my #1. Finally took care of business as I expected against Cortland - #1. (stamp) #1 Great defensive effort in taking down Cortland. Solid play all around. Red and his pesky black Squirrels come to the Burg this week. Always a tight game. (stewlaxdad) #3 Strong win over Cortland combined with Haverford's struggles should have G'burg as the front-runner in the Centennial. (Swank_Lax) Strong win over Cortland. Controlled much of the game and had enough in the tank to seal the deal. #3. (thatsmell) Amazing. Huge win over Cortland. Eating some crow, I have to give them the #1 slot. The Bullets will beat USMMA and next up, Gburg's offensive firepower beats Haverford's. (turbolax241) 3. Big early season win. (valaxfan) 2. Big revenge win over Cortland on LI. The Bullets proved they can reload their D and not need a year to rebuild it. (wheniwasakid...) #2A -- They prove me wrong every year. Janczyk is a wizard. (Youngred) Roanoke: Complete dismantling of Cabrini, St. Mary's, and F&M, three teams who started the year with some top 20 hype. (corkscrew) #9- Roanoke looks excellent. A lot of star power here. Jury is out until the Stevenson game though. (D-III) #3--Crushed a good Cabrini team. Dickinson next. (general21111) The Maroons are rolling ... Roanoke moves up to #4 ... I thought the Cavs would keep it closer versus them, but they just couldn't keep up with Roanoke's offense ... The defense and Dorsey are playing great ... There is a little time in between, but I am looking forward to their 3/27 match-up with Stevenson. (goalielax10) Lots of scoring in all games did not think much of it until the beat-down applied to Cabrini. (idealtin) My #5. Blew out Cabrini this past weekend, 21-7. This offense seems loaded with talent. Big game against Dickinson this Saturday. Noke only beat Dickinson by one goal last year. (LaxUnlimited) #5 - Off to great start and big early win over Cabrini; have a tough one Wednesday against an improved Dickinson team. (MasonDixonLine29) #4 Dismantled a very good Cabrini - hitting on all cylinders. (minkhoo) #1. Their total domination of Cabrini and everybody else that they have played puts them at the top spot. (Richard) Crushed Cabrini. 114 goals in 5 games. Maroons looking good, but need some better competition, which they'll face in the Dickinson tilt - #4. (stamp) #2 Noke is on fire right now. Question is.. will it last through the entire season or, like last year, fizzle mid-year? (stewlaxdad) #5 Dominated Cabrini and are looking very strong. I worry that we've seen this kind of early season domination before though. Seems like it always ends with losses when it matters. (Swank_Lax) Steamrolling everyone in their path. Jumped up to #3. (thatsmell) My #3 - Showed Cabrini's weaknesses in decisive win on 3/6. Will win the Dickinson game this week. (turbolax241) 2. Noke train is rolling. (valaxfan) 6. Huge win over an overrated Cabrini team. Or is Noke that good? I'll go with a bit of both. (wheniwasakid...) #4 -- Should probably be higher but looking like the juggernaut their fans claim they are. (Youngred) Salisbury: Not blowing teams out but still winning. Cortland is next in a huge game to see if SSU is really top 5. (corkscrew) #4- Routine win over McDaniel. A lot of questions about midfield production after Bradman. (D-III) #4--Not overly impressive in their wins; face Cortland on 3/10 and OWU on 3/13. (general21111) Big day for Bradman leads the Gulls over a pesky McDaniel team ... Salisbury holds steady as my #2 team ... 3/10 vs. the defending national champs in Haverford looks to be the game of the year so far ... A little more balanced this year but still would like to see the goal production up just a wee bit. (goalielax10) Classic match-up next week. Not the Salisbury of old, that is for sure; however; they are winning, and that is what matters most. (idealtin) My #3. The Gulls are undefeated at 4-0 and moved up one spot in my rankings with the Dragons' loss. Highly anticipated match up with Cortland on Wednesday!!! (LaxUnlimited) Stays at #4; 3/10 game with Cortland should be a great measure as to where and what's expected this year. (MasonDixonLine29) #5 Is it just me, or are the Gulls not quite as intimidating as they used to be? (minkhoo) #4. Beat McDaniel but not with ease. (Richard) 4 and 0. Gulls are off to another solid start - #3. (stamp) #5 Mediocre showing against McDaniel, not what we've come to expect from the Gulls. They had better get it together quickly or Cortland will hand them their first (not last) "L" for 2010. (stewlaxdad) #1 This spot is the Gulls' until they lose. (Swank_Lax) Winning. But not convincingly per Salisbury standards. Inconsistent play all over the field. #6. (thatsmell) Drops to #5 due to others who are rising. Dispatched McDaniel. With a whole week's rest, cannot wait for the titan match-up vs. Cortland in Haverford, PA on 3/10. Cortland will be angrier. Then Salz beats OWU three days later. (turbolax241) 4. Wins, but not the Salisbury of old. (valaxfan) 3. Quietly rolling out to a 4-0 start. (wheniwasakid...) #2 -- Still not tested. (Youngred) Cortland: Only 5 goals will not beat any teams in the top 10. In-region loss makes things interesting for the Red Dragons. SSU is next, and 5 goals won't beat the Gulls either. (corkscrew) #2- Surprising to see the O stall against Gettysburg. It's early though, with loads of talent on this team. (D-III) #5--Loss to Gettysburg drops the Dragons, but they can move up with win over Salisbury. (general21111) Losing to the Bullets is nothing to hang your head about ... Thought that the Red Dragons could start the season 0-3 and still be in my top 15-20 ... they head into a big showdown with Salisbury this weekend ... Cortland falls to #5 in my poll (from #3) ... Still a solid team but have to rebound quickly. (goalielax10) Perhaps the win vs. WNEC was not as good as we all thought. If offense is their strength, they have not done too much as of yet. Big game next week vs. Gulls. (idealtin) My #6. Fell in my rankings with the loss to Gettysburg. Still a very talented and scary team to face on any day of the week. Another big game against the Gulls this week. Could previously ranked #1 Cortland drop back-to-back games in March? (LaxUnlimited) #3 ... early loss, but still a powerful team, nothing to hang their heads about; and they can't with Salisbury coming to town Wednesday. (MasonDixonLine29) #3 We may have seen a preview of the Memorial Weekend game. (minkhoo) #5. Loss to G-burg drops them some. I expect them to come back strong. (Richard) Fell to the Bullets. Not surprised this time. Drops to #5. (stamp) #3 They took a Bullet on Saturday but this team is the real deal. They will be in a nasty mood when they see the Gulls this week. (stewlaxdad) #6 Tough loss to Gettysburg but no reason to believe that anything has changed. Still a championship team. (Swank_Lax) Cortland's offense struggled to get going until late. Loss to G'burg drops the Red Dragons three spots. #4. (thatsmell) My #4 - Cortland shocked me with the G'burg loss. Now comes Salisbury. I still give that one to CSU. (turbolax241) 5. Maybe Corland wasn't as good as we thought. (valaxfan) 10. Killed WNEC then lost a tight one to G'burg, where the O was shut down by an inexperienced D. (wheniwasakid...) #4 -- I'm surprised at their effort vs. the Bullets. (Youngred) Denison: Have yet to play a quality opponent. Next up is USMMA, then we will see vs. St. Marys and Haverford. (corkscrew) #6--Sleeping last week; Haverford's dropping from top 10 makes the Denison out of conference schedule appear weaker. (general21111) No games this past week ... Denison stays at #6 for me ... Should have no problems with Merchant Marine this upcoming Saturday. (goalielax10) No competition yet, but should see a little more vs. USMMA. (idealtin) My #4. Flying under the radar with little activity this past week. Starting this Saturday we will find out how good this Big Red team really is. One home game against Merchant Marine before a road trip that includes Saint Mary's (Md), Haverford and Wooster. After that is the rivalry game at OWU. (LaxUnlimited) DNP. (MasonDixonLine29) #6 Untested. (minkhoo) #6. (Richard) Idle - #10. (stamp) #6 Taking a nearly two-week siesta before meeting Merchant Marine this week. How rusty will they be? (stewlaxdad) #4 Hard to tell yet. (Swank_Lax) My #6 - No action this past week. Hard to judge easy wins so far. Should win vs. USMMA on 3/13 but will probably move more due to other action next week. (turbolax241) 4. Two easy wins, and Denison is looking good. (wheniwasakid...) #6 -- Untested. (Youngred) Tufts: Amherst this weekend. (corkscrew) #7--Open with Amherst on Saturday. (general21111) Tufts holds steady at #7 ... Jumbos make their debut this Saturday at Amherst. (goalielax10) Are we waiting for daylight savings time to begin to start playing? (idealtin) My #8. Open the season this week at Amherst. (LaxUnlimited) DNP. (MasonDixonLine29) #8. (minkhoo) #7. (Richard) Jumbos idle - Amherst on deck 3/13 - #6. (stamp) #9. (stewlaxdad) #7 Patiently waiting. (Swank_Lax) Still no change, so stays #7 until first game, not until 3/13. Should win at Amherst. (turbolax241) 5. DNP but benefit from WNEC and Cortland losing. (wheniwasakid...) #7. (Youngred) Middlebury: Bates this weekend will tell us a lot. (corkscrew) #8--Open with Bates; I am concerned that they may be overrated given the absence of certain expected contributors. (general21111) Panthers round out my top 10 ... Good test to open the season vs. Bates. (goalielax10) My #9. Open the season this week at Bates. (LaxUnlimited) DNP. (MasonDixonLine29) #7. (minkhoo) #9. (Richard) Panthers idle - Bates on deck 3/13 - #7. (stamp) #7 Finally get to open up this week against Bates. (stewlaxdad) #11 Nobody has more to prove than the Panthers, who have struggled when it counted the past two years. They need to show they have replaced their losses from last year. (Swank_Lax) No action till 3/13. Should win vs. Bates. Rethinking their losses to graduation; moves back onto my Top 20, higher since others fell, at least until action starts and we see if they "pull a St. Lawrence." (turbolax241) Another week's wait, then it's Bates. (valaxfan) 8. DNP. (wheniwasakid...) #8. (Youngred) Washington & Lee: Is Washington really a "big" win? OWU this week will be the Generals first challenge. Their defense is good but untested. Offense lacks real punch. This team could be overrated and exposed soon. (corkscrew) #8- Stellar D so far for the Generals. OWU game will tell us a lot about both teams. (D-III) #16--Nice win over WAC. Big week for the Generals--OWU tomorrow and F&M on Sat. (general21111) The Generals move up to #8 with two solid wins this week ... OWU at home under the lights is good, but W&L can't forget about Franklin Marshall, a team they have played to one-goal games the last two times they played, and I believe the Generals lost the last time they visited the Diplomats two years ago. (goalielax10) Five wins, one with quality vs. a respectable WAC team. Certainly not blowing away the competition. (idealtin) My #7. Continue to impress and rise in my rankings. Beat Greensboro and WAC this week to move up to my #7 spot. Keigler and Means form a nice 1-2 punch on attack. The Generals have a big test against OWU this Tuesday Night. (LaxUnlimited) #9 Off to 5-0 start ... only win with WAC worth to note. (MasonDixonLine29) #17 Showing some spark, but haven't yet seen killer instinct. (minkhoo) #8. Keep winning but do not distinguish themselves. (Richard) Generals are 5 and 0. Solid victory over Washington College on the road - #9. (stamp) #8 Two more solid wins this week move them up a notch. (stewlaxdad) #10 Lackluster against WAC. Hopefully they step up their level of play or else they will quickly find themselves out of the top 10. (Swank_Lax) #8. Jumped out to a big lead on WAC but let off the gas. (thatsmell) Moved up to my #10. Downed unranked Greensboro and WAC (not too decisively, but got the job done). Might have stiffer competition in OWU and a tough F&M this week. I don't see them much higher unless they beat OWU and/or until they face more considerably-ranked opponents (e.g. Middlebury). (turbolax241) Wins the Battle of George but has work to do. (valaxfan) 11. 5-0 with some solid wins but no real challenges yet considering WAC seems to be down this year. (wheniwasakid...) #12 -- Still essentially untested. WAC is a shadow of their former selves. (Youngred) Geneseo: Somehow got Nazareth. Good early win. (corkscrew) #12- Monster Pool C OT win for Geneseo. Keep winning the games they are supposed to, and they will make the NCAAs. (D-III) #10--Good wins over Union and Nazareth; play Ithaca on 3/12. (general21111) Gritty win over Nazareth in overtime ... The Blue Knights jump up to #12 for me ... Watson and Kurpis are taking pressure off of Lange ... Have to refocus on a hungry Ithaca team this week. (goalielax10) Nice revenge OT win vs. Nazareth. Costanza looked great in the cage. (idealtin) My #11. Walked away with a one-goal victory at Nazareth this past weekend. Continue to rise in my rankings. Another big game against Ithaca on the 12th. (LaxUnlimited) #10 Huge jump with OT win over Nazareth. Has three big games in a row ... Ithaca, Keene, and RIT. (MasonDixonLine29) #13 Big OT win for the Knights. (minkhoo) #10. Some nice wins. They seem to have come up with some good new players. (Richard) 2 and 0. Big OT win against Nazareth. Blue Knights playing solid, Ithaca up next - #11. (stamp) #10 Great OT win over Nazareth moves these guys up. Can throw Ithaca out of top 25 consideration with a win this week. (stewlaxdad) #9 Took care of business against Naz, which counts a lot in my book because this is where the Knights faltered last year. Could they beat Cortland again? (Swank_Lax) Out of the gates strong. Wins over Union and Nazareth a great way to start the season. #9. (thatsmell) Had a better-than-expected showing in Union win and pulled out a nice OT win vs. Nazareth. Is Gal back for Ithaca in the 3/12 game almost a week after? If not, Geneseo might hustle that one in their favor too. (turbolax241) Big early season win. (valaxfan) 9. Big out of conference OT win over Nazareth puts Genny in a great position early in the season. (wheniwasakid...) #14 -- Good win over Naz, but I know next to nothing about either team. I'm guessing Nazareth isn't as strong as I was led to believe. (Youngred) Wesleyan: Only scored 8 goals vs. Salve Regina? Really? NY Maritime is next? Not very impressive. NESCAC will be just a little tougher. (corkscrew) #10- Up 8-0 until very late in Salve game. The zone D has definitely reloaded. Offense was not as good as advertised, though, but it is very early for this NESCAC team. (D-III) #17--Not impressed with margin of victory over Salve Regina; play Bowdoin on 3/13. (general21111) Beating Salve Regina only 8-3 has me wondering about them ... The Cardinals are #9 in my poll, and we will know more about this team after their game mid-week vs. Maritime and especially after this weekend's tilt vs. Bowdoin. (goalielax10) Going by the Swankster on this one. Do not think there will be four from the NESCAC in the top 20 in the end, but we will start here before their season really starts. (idealtin) My #10. Beat a decent Salve Regina team 8-3 to open the season 1-0. Sophomore Teddy Citrin led the team with 5 points in the victory. (LaxUnlimited) DNP. (MasonDixonLine29) #9 Just getting out of the gate. (minkhoo) #17. (Richard) Kileen naturally QB'd, Citrin surprised, Covington covered the cage well. New look offense showing promise, zone D solid start. Can't overlook SUNY Maritime before Bowdoin tilt - #8. (stamp) #11 Get a little better test against Bowdoin this week to support this ranking. (stewlaxdad) #8 Handled Salve Regina with ease. The Citrin-Killeen attack combo looks to be capable of big things. (Swank_Lax) Unimpressive win over Salve Regina doesn't exactly inspire confidence. #11. (thatsmell) Beat Salve Regina and should do same vs. Maritime on 3/10. Rethinking their losses to graduation. They could easily surprise (me at least) the way SLU did, ending their second week 3-0 (after facing Bowdoin 3/13). (turbolax241) Wins opener. (valaxfan) 7. Easy win over Salve Regina. Not a ton of goals but no goals allowed in three quarters bodes well for the vaunted Wesleyan zone D. (wheniwasakid...) #9 -- Thought they'd blow Salve out. A little on the fence, but it's early. (Youngred) St. Lawrence: Good win vs. Haverford. Let's see if they can keep it going in California vs. Whittier. (corkscrew) #11- Larries put a good product on the field year in and year out despite graduation losses/transfers. With win over Haverford, finally no one can say they haven't beaten a top-10 team. (D-III) #9--Solid win over Haverford in opener on neutral field moves the Laxing Lawries into my top 10. (general21111) Year in and year out, the Larries always find someway to restock the cupboard ... St. Lawrence is #11 in my poll ... Big week on the West Coast against Whittier and Drew. (goalielax10) Nice win on the road over a team that has a few games under their belt. Was surprised at the outcome of game vs. the Fords. (idealtin) My #14. Beat previously top-10 Haverford 8-6 on Saturday. Great start to the 2010 season for this team. Moved up in my rankings with the win over Haverford. Interesting match-up with Whittier this week. (LaxUnlimited) #13 ... beats Haverford. (MasonDixonLine29) #10 Reports of the Saints' demise appear to be exaggerated. (minkhoo) #15. Good win vs. Haverford. Another team that seems to have found players. They do have a strong defense. (Richard) Shocked the Squirrels. Saints could surprise - #12. (stamp) #12 Really nice take-down of Haverford on Saturday. Now off to the Right Coast to meet Whittier and Drew. (stewlaxdad) #12 Gotta like what they did against a solid squad in Haverford. (Swank_Lax) Handled Haverford in opener and didn't need OT to do it. They take Haverford's former slot. Hats off to the Larries. I think this is my new "Golden Rule of Parity": at this point in D-III lacrosse history, ANY team in or near the Top 20 is getting enough talent to reload immediately even after graduating 8 starters. Will defeat Whittier and Drew this week and then watch out Nazareth and much later, even Cortland. (turbolax241) Nice win over the Fords. (valaxfan) 12. Big win over Haverford early on both exposes the Squirrels as suspect and gives legitimacy to the Saints. (wheniwasakid...) #10 -- Very impressed with their defense and discipline vs. Haverford. This team is far better than I initially thought. (Youngred) Haverford: Uh-oh, Cabrini almost got them and then St. Lawrence did. All the hype in the world can't get a team wins. (corkscrew) #18- Pool C just got a lot tougher for the 'Fords. Loss of Fleishhacker might prove to be too much this year. (D-III) #11--Disappointing loss to St. Lawrence; face Gettysburg on 3/13. (general21111) The Fords lose a little ground and fall to #14 in my poll ... York should be a win, but at Gettysburg would be a huge win and a statement to the rest of the nation that they are serious contenders. (goalielax10) Win over Cabrini not as impressive now. Was surprised over loss to SLU. (idealtin) My #16. Dropped out of my top 10 with the loss to St. Lawrence. One-goal win over Cabrini keeps this team in the top 20. Tough games on the road against York and Gettysburg this week. (LaxUnlimited) #12 Tough 8-6 loss to SLU. (MasonDixonLine29) #12 Maybe a slower start than anticipated. (minkhoo) #16. Offense continues to be a problem. (Richard) My #11 last week, this week - #17. The Saints made the Squirrels see the light. (stamp) #16 Bad loss to the Larries sends Red's Black Squirrels off to the woods scrambling to find their nuts and a better game plan to help dodge the Bullet that is in their future. (stewlaxdad) #15 Definitely not as good as we thought they would be. Injuries are partially to blame, but are no excuse for their under-performing so far. (Swank_Lax) Slipping. Hit by the injury bug, the Squirrels are struggling to find their identity. #12. (thatsmell) Drops to #16 - Fords showed LAST year's offense problems (6 goals? under 10 GPG?). It isn't a coach-change problem: they averaged 1.5 GPG LESS last year--under Murphy--than the year before that. The Larries outran, outdodged, outshot, outhustled them. Against G'burg, it's a contest of 4+ shooters and 3+ feeders vs. Haverford's one shooter (really) and no feeders or cutters. (turbolax241) 17. Still a good team but definitely not a top 10 squad at this point. (wheniwasakid...) #11 -- Ugly loss to St. Lawrence, but they lost to a very good team. See if they can right the ship with G'burg on Saturday. (Youngred) Stevens: Undefeated with two 1-goal victories. Lynchburg up next in a huge game for both. (corkscrew) #14- Piling up the wins early and seem to be improving. If they can get to 10 goals a game, they will be a very tough out. As of now the class of the E8. (D-III) #13--Nice win over Springfield. (general21111) Dominant performance vs. Springfield ... The Ducks are #15 in my poll ... Lynchburg comes to Hoboken this week ... Decker will keep them in games all year ... F/Os need improvement. (goalielax10) Jumped to where Nazareth was due to the fact they beat Springfield more soundly than Nazareth did. They are now 4-0 and perking right along. (idealtin) My #13. Undefeated at 4-0 against quality opponents. Two more tests against Lynchburg on the 13th and Stevenson on the 17th. Another team that continues to rise in my rankings. (LaxUnlimited) #15 off to a nice 4-0 start against some really good teams. (MasonDixonLine29) #14 Solid start for the Ducks. (minkhoo) #13. (Richard) The Ducks took care of business against the Springfield Pride and are 4 and 0 - #13. (stamp) #13. (stewlaxdad) #14 Solid wins have the Ducks comfortably in the top 20. (Swank_Lax) Quietly collecting wins. (thatsmell) Hey, I got something right! As I predicted, preseason-unranked Stevens surprises some with solid 4-0 start, heading into two more interesting games: bubble-team Lynchburg on 3/13 and, four days later, Stevenson on St. Patty's Day. (turbolax241) Moving up! (valaxfan) 16. Two close games early and then two big wins against ECSU and SC put the Ducks at 4-0. Decker is looking good. (wheniwasakid...) #17 -- Playing well, but their wins have come against some teams that appear to be down this season. (Youngred) Nazareth: Tough loss to Geneseo. (corkscrew) #17- Slow start doomed them against Geneseo. Terrible loss for Pool C purposes. This one will haunt them. (D-III) #12--OT loss to Geneseo; should get well against Oswego this week. (general21111) Fell down 4-0 and lost in OT to Geneseo ... #13 in my poll, and Oswego this week isn't going to be an easy game. (goalielax10) Tough loss to the Blue Knights. Ran into a hot goalie, and they played as badly as I've seen them play. Still early and work to do. (idealtin) My #17. Tough loss to Geneseo State this week drops Nazareth in my rankings. The rest of March is rough for Nazareth with games against Bowdoin, WNEC, Cortland, and St. Lawrence. (LaxUnlimited) #14 ... tough loss to Geneseo. (MasonDixonLine29) #16 Tough OT loss. (minkhoo) #11. (Richard) The Golden Flyers are losing their luster. Lost to Geneseo, dropping fast - #19. (stamp) #17 Heartbreaking OT loss Saturday. Need a convincing win over Oswego to stop the free fall. (stewlaxdad) #16 The bad news? The loss to Genny hurts their pride. The good news? Winning the E8 doesn't look like it's going to be that daunting of a challenge. (Swank_Lax) Could not beat Geneseo, but should top Oswego. Still think they can rebound. (turbolax241) Tough loss for the Purple and Gold. (valaxfan) 14. OT loss to a talented Genny team drops Nazareth a little but they're still in there. (wheniwasakid...) #16 -- I think most of us are disappointed with the loss to Genny. (Youngred) Bowdoin: Major test at Wesleyan on Saturday. (corkscrew) #13- Will be without their best player, Kit Smith, for at least the Wesleyan, Nazareth and WNEC games because of hockey. As such, they'll be tough to judge. (D-III) #14- Open with Wesleyan, then WNEC. (general21111) My #15. Open the season this week at Wesleyan. (LaxUnlimited) #11. (minkhoo) #22. (Richard) Idle until Wesleyan tilt on 3/13 - #15. (stamp) #18 Finally open up against a solid Wesleyan team this week. (stewlaxdad) #13 Idle. (Swank_Lax) No action yet but still anticipating good things. Drops slightly only due to others falling or rising. (turbolax241) 13. DNP. (wheniwasakid...) #15. (Youngred) Ohio Wesleyan: Coming on strong. Aggressive team from the West could be back? They will give fits to W&L Wednesday night. (corkscrew) #20- W&L game is a big one. (D-III) #15--We should learn a lot about the Bishops this week; play W&L tomorrow, then Salisbury. (general21111) The Battling Bishops will definitely be battle tested after visiting Washington & Lee and Salisbury this week ... For now they are #17 in my poll. (goalielax10) Big game vs. W&L next week. We shall see. (idealtin) My #12. Will find out more about this team this week with games against W&L and Salisbury. If OWU can get a win vs. the Generals or the Gulls they will stay in my top 15. Can the Bishops find a way back into the top 10? (LaxUnlimited) #21 DNP play this week. (MasonDixonLine29) #15 Could be a really dangerous sleeper. (minkhoo) #19. (Richard) The Bishops are 2 and 0. Washington & Lee will provide a stiffer test - #18. (stamp) #15 Hope these guys are well rested with the Gennies and Gulls on tap this week, especially if the Gulls lose to Cortland Tuesday. (stewlaxdad) #18 Big test against W&L will tell us if they are for real or not. (Swank_Lax) #21. (thatsmell) DNP but they move onto my Top 20 due to others' changes. Huge road trip in the week ahead. Don't think they'll pull out the win at W&L, but it could be close. Salisbury will dominate on 3/13. (turbolax241) 15. Two good wins, one over Lynchburg, gets OWU into the picture solidly. (wheniwasakid...) #24. (Youngred) Western New England: Easily the best 0-2 team in Division III. (corkscrew) #19- Improvement against Stevenson but still lack the firepower on offense. Return of O'Keefe will help though. Expectations of this team have fallen. They are not a top-10 group but still look to be a top-20 team. (D-III) Better find some offense pretty soon. Good thing they are in a weak conference. Two cupcakes to recharge the batteries before the Dallas trip. Be thankful for Knowlton. (idealtin) #16 0-2 against top two teams in country. (MasonDixonLine29) #19 0-2 to the top two teams. I think the Golden Bears will recover. (minkhoo) #18. This is a hard-working team. They will get better as the season progresses. (Richard) Fell to Stevenson. Granted, the Golden Bears have played against two of the top teams in the country; Cortland and Stevenson, but they're 0 and 2 and have been outscored 23 to 7, falls to #16. (stamp) #14 Were respectable against a much higher ranked Stevenson and get a breather with two lightweight opponents this week. (stewlaxdad) #17 Struggling to produce on offense without Jez and O'Keefe. (Swank_Lax) #19. Bad week for the Golden Bears. Outgunned again. (thatsmell) Badly lost second big battle in a row to Stevenson. With their front-loaded schedule, week #3 means two easy, unranked conference wins (Salve Regina, Gordon). (turbolax241) 24. (wheniwasakid...) #13 -- Two losses to two great teams. I'm not ready to send them packing. (Youngred) St. John Fisher: #21. (general21111) My #19. Underrated team that might scare some teams in the Empire 8 this season. This team has a ton of senior leadership. (LaxUnlimited) #18 ... one of two E8 teams to win this week!!! Conference play should be interesting. (MasonDixonLine29) #12. (Richard) #18 -- Untested as of yet, but this is where I've had them. (Youngred) Cabrini: Tough loss to Haverford followed by a rout at Roanoke. But this team is still dangerous, as Gettysburg will see soon. (corkscrew) NR- Lost to an undermanned Haverford team and got blown out by Roanoke. (D-III) Can't blame the Cavs for losing to Roanoke (who hasn't) but the margin of victory was bigger than I had anticipated ... Cabrini is my #19 team, and they have to beat Kenyon or very well could fall out of my top 20. (goalielax10) Different year, same story with this team. Why do we rank them so high? (idealtin) My #25. (LaxUnlimited) #17 2-2; haven't beaten a good team yet. (MasonDixonLine29) #20 Totally swamped by Roanoke. We will see how the Cardinals respond. (minkhoo) #19 Totally embarrassed by Noke - more typical result than not against top teams. Not sure they even deserve to remain in the top 20. (stewlaxdad) Dropping quickly. (thatsmell) Won against unranked HSC and was crushed by Roanoke. On 3/13, Kenyon could give them a game. (turbolax241) 22. (wheniwasakid...) #21 -- Very surprising score against 'Noke. Was it an off day or is Roanoke that good? Cabrini is better than most think around here. (Youngred) Skidmore: #16- Where is Levesque? I would like this team a lot more if he wasn't absent from their first two games. (D-III) #20--Nice win over Hartwick advances the Thoroughbreds. (general21111) Skidmore is 2-0 and #16 for me ... should win this week versus Western Connecticut, but their biggest test will be traveling to Haverford to play the Fords next week ... Senior leadership and balanced scoring are getting it done for the Thoroughbreds. (goalielax10) Hartwick is way down this year, and to only win by four leaves some question as to where I have this team ranked. (idealtin) #23 Another Liberty team which will be a tough out. (minkhoo) #14. (Richard) Dickinson: Undefeated. Kenyon then Roanoke next. (corkscrew) NR- Another Centennial team to track after a down year in '09. Need to beat Kenyon before traveling to Roanoke. (D-III) #23. (general21111) Team that is on the rise ... If they go 2-0 this week they should be in everyone's top 20 ... Hats off to coach Webster. (goalielax10) #25 Red Devils are 4-0 and have a fun trip to Salem, VA coming up. (minkhoo) #20. (Richard) The Red Devils are 4 and 0. Roanoke tilt on the horizon - #14. (stamp) Off to a good start. 4-0. #18. (thatsmell) 18. While they are 4-0, they haven't been blowing people out, but Dickinson looks pretty good and is winning tight games. (wheniwasakid...) #19 -- 4-0, a team I think is flying under the radar. See what they have against Roanoke. (Youngred) Ithaca: Losing to Scranton really is a head scratcher ... The Bombers fall to #20 in my poll ... Union and Geneseo are up next ... 0-3 is a very distinct possibility. (goalielax10) My #18. Upset loss to Scranton 5-12 brings big questions regarding Ithaca this season. Not the way to start a season with a terrible showing against a non-ranked opponent. (LaxUnlimited) #19 Unexpected loss to Scranton or is this truly a rebuilding year??? (MasonDixonLine29) #18 A surprising loss to Scranton to open. (minkhoo) #20 Stumbled big time against Scranton. If they don't at least have a respectable showing against Geneseo this week they fall beyond the top 25. (stewlaxdad) Loss to Scranton bumps them out. #24. (thatsmell) Yes, they were without GK Gal, but still they got beat by unranked Scranton in season's first upset. Is Gal back and/or can they rebound for Union on 3/10 (I think Union could upset) and back home for 2-0 (and rising) Geneseo on 3/12? (turbolax241) #23. (Youngred) Trinity: #22. (general21111) Idle. #20. (stamp) #19 Idle. (Swank_Lax) 20. DNP but reports are good coming out of Hartford. (wheniwasakid...) Rensselaer: NR- Another strong Liberty team, nice win over RIT. (D-III) #19--Move into my top 20 with nice win over RIT. (general21111) RPI makes an appearance in my top 20 at #18 ... Head to Florida to play one of the boys from north country this week, Potsdam ... The midfield is talented. (goalielax10) #20 ... nice win over RIT. (MasonDixonLine29) #24 See Skidmore. (minkhoo) #23. (Richard) #20 Solid win over RIT makes them a borderline top 20 team. (Swank_Lax) 19. 2-0 with a win over a good but not great RIT team gets RPI a vote or two. (wheniwasakid...) #25 -- Why not? (Youngred) Lynchburg: My #22. (LaxUnlimited) #21 Three big games on the horizon. (minkhoo) #24. (Richard) #23 Digger Phelps would call Lynchburg a "bubble team." (thatsmell) Handily beat MSJ, but that won't bump them up. Drop down due to others doing better. (turbolax241) 21. (wheniwasakid...) Scranton: #18--Showing some love to the Royals after big win over Ithaca; play RIT and Hartwick this week. The Royals may not be in my final top 20 in May, but they are a program on the rise. (general21111) My #23. (LaxUnlimited) #22 Pretty impressive start; maybe the favorite in the Landmark? (minkhoo) #25. Handles Ithaca. Great win. (Richard) Win over Ithaca a great one to build on. (thatsmell) Very impressive win against Ithaca. If they can keep up the intensity, who knows what they can do? (See "Golden Rule of Parity" under "St. Lawrence"). (turbolax241) Union: #20 -- Lost convincingly to Geneseo, but let's see if they can rebound vs. Ithaca. (Youngred) Wooster: My #20. Crept into my rankings as the third best team in the underrated NCAC. Seniors Alex Mies, Pat Coyne, and Dan Macvarish lead this team on offense. Over the next two weeks Wooster has a four-game road stretch against St. Mary's (MD), Mary Washington, Salisbury, and division foe OWU. (LaxUnlimited) Other Teams Pollsters Considered (and comments, if any) Ursinus: NR- A team to track after dismantling Messiah. (D-III) Oneonta: #24. (general21111) Colorado College: #25. (general21111) Kenyon: My #21. (LaxUnlimited) Endicott: My #24. (LaxUnlimited) Widener: Pesky team to keep an eye on. #25. (thatsmell) RIT: 0-2; have tough one Wednesday against Ithaca-beater Scranton ... need to focus. (MasonDixonLine29) 23. (wheniwasakid...) Springfield: #21. (Richard) Drops off Top 20 after loss to Stevens. 2-2 so far. (turbolax241) Colby: #22. (Youngred) | |||||
