Pollsters' Comments About Teams They Ranked

Cortland: #1. Still number one after a tough week, beating Stevens and Cabrini without two of their All-American defensemen. They host rival Ithaca this Friday. (Big Eyed Fish) — Passing every test. (corkscrew) — #1. Great week. Gutty win in Virginia and also a grinder at Cabrini. Can't sleep on the resurgent Bombers. (D-III) — #2. Grinding out victories this year will pay dividends come NCAA tourney time. Cortica may not be close on 3/22. (goalielax10) — #2. Defense wins games, and the Red Dragons have a good one. Ithaca game this week should be a dandy. (idealtin) — #1. Passed a couple top-20 tests this past week. Will gear up for another couple of good ones in the coming weeks. (laxdood22) — #1. Two big wins this week. They silenced a bunch of critics with wins over Stevens and Cabrini. (longstick33) — #2. (minkhoo) — Two great wins over ranked opponents shows this team can win the close ones. (nevadajoe) — #1. (Richard) — #2. Good win over Cabrini. (thatsmell) — They play good defense!!! (The Reason) — #1. Has close wins to hold onto top spot. (valaxfan) — #1. (Youngred)

Stevenson: #2. Rolls over Elizabethtown as expected. Tufts this week. (Big Eyed Fish) — #2. Tufts week is here. Batten down the hatches! (D-III) — #1. Mouthwatering match-up against a fully stocked Tufts team on 3/19. If Pecunes stops 50% of the shots he sees, the Mustangs should remain undefeated. (goalielax10) — #1. Still my number one. Nice match-up this week vs. NESCAC opponent. (idealtin) — #2. Should be a high-scoring night in Maryland when Tufts comes to town. (laxdood22) — #2. The Mustangs keep on rolling with a huge match-up against Tufts looming on Tuesday. (longstick33) — #1. (minkhoo) — Dominated again as they will in their new conference. (nevadajoe) — #2. (Richard) — #1. 6-0. All challengers accepted and sent home with losses so far. (thatsmell) — One plays two on Tuesday! (The Reason) — #2. Still rolling. (valaxfan) — #2. (Youngred)

Dickinson: #3. Nearly has a hiccup against Widener. Better wake up, or this year will be like so many others for them. (Big Eyed Fish) — #4. Battled back against Widener. Need to stay focused until April 10th week, when we find out if the Devils are for real. (D-III) — #3. Escaped Widener without getting bit by the upset bug. One more week until the grind of Centennial Conference play begins. (goalielax10) — #3. From all that is being said, this team is the real deal. Taking no prisoners. (idealtin) — #6. Closest one yet, but the Red Devils grind it out with a win over their former assistant coach. They should finish out March perfect. (laxdood22) — #3. Squeaked by Widener, but a win is a win and they are still sitting at 6-0. (longstick33) — #3. (minkhoo) — Closer than expected win over a pretty good Widener team. (nevadajoe) — #3. (Richard) — #3. The Devils showed a chink in the armor. Almost tripped up by Widener. (thatsmell) — They will be in the mix. (The Reason) — #3. Closer than expected win over Widener. (valaxfan) — #3. (Youngred)

RIT: #4. Absolutely stellar week by these guys. Tigers are really rolling. There's a tough slate of games coming up, but they should be favored in most of them. (Big Eyed Fish) — #6. I was wrong on the Tigers; they look strong and will be in the mix all season. Still do not think their D will hold up against an elite team. (D-III) — #5. Making it look too easy the last four games the Tigers have played. (goalielax10) — #5. Dismantled two CCC teams with ease. The Tigers are playing well now. (idealtin) — #3. Got through the Flower City Cup scoring 30 goals and only giving up 10. RIT looking strong. (laxdood22) — #4. A 2-0 weekend with their only blemish against my #2 team Stevenson in their opener. (longstick33) — #4. (minkhoo) — Solid and decisive win over a good team. (nevadajoe) — #4. (Richard) — #4. Pounded Endicott. (thatsmell) — Those box lacrosse players know how to play on big fields. (The Reason) — #4. Moves up the poll with solid wins. (valaxfan) — #4. (Youngred)

Washington College: #5. Gets some solid play in this week and has a close one with OWU. Has the potential to be undefeated heading into a tough April. (Big Eyed Fish) — #5. Disappointing effort against OWU. Centennial grind begins. (D-III) — Hang on to beat OWU. Conference games looming. (Dehuntshigwa'es) — #4. The Shoremen will have had nine days off between games, and Shirk will have them refocused and ready for conference play. (goalielax10) — #4. Undefeated and conference play getting underway. (idealtin) — #8. Still a big fan of the Shoremen, but not ready to move them into the tier of teams. Big games down the line in April. Got to take care of the March games first! (laxdood22) — #5. A nice win over a tough OWU team keeps the Shoremen undefeated. (longstick33) — #6. (minkhoo) — Keeping the momentum going as they post a nice win over OWU. (nevadajoe) — #5. (Richard) — #8. Record gets them this high but not completely sold yet. (thatsmell) — 6-0 ... they belong. (The Reason) — WAC has nice win over OWU. (valaxfan) — #6. (Youngred)

Tufts: #6. The boys are back and came out firing against Stevens. Huge game against Stevenson this week - can't wait for this one. (Big Eyed Fish) — Now that the boys are back, it looks like a powerful offense. (corkscrew) — #3. Impressive on the road against the Ducks. Sloppy at times but too be expected in season opener. Defense appears to be more of a concern than it will be down the road. Adjusting to a new coach, but tons of talent and seniors everywhere. Offense is immense; Baily/Wood have both made the leap. (D-III) — #9. Stevenson game will be a better measuring stick to me as opposed to their last game played against Stevens. 18 goals is still nice to see. Are they back? (goalielax10) — #6. Big jump for me because they are now at full strength. Mustang game should be great. (idealtin) — #4. The press release made sure to mention that this team was missing players and exactly what those missing players can do. Jumbos are playing angry. (laxdood22) — #6. It was nice to get a look at what this Tufts team really is this year. I am pretty sure they won't have a tough time digging themselves out of the 0-2 hole they dug themselves in the NESCAC. (longstick33) — #5. (minkhoo) — The boys are back with purpose! Good "start to the season". (nevadajoe) — #9. (Richard) — #6. Jump up a tad with good win over Stevens. (thatsmell) — Two plays one on Tuesday! (The Reason) — Tufts playing its way back up the poll. (valaxfan) — #5. (Youngred)

Lynchburg: #7. Rebounds a bit after a poor showing against McDaniel. Road trips to W&L and Stevenson at the end of March. (Big Eyed Fish) — #8. McDaniel result was a concern, with only 5 goals and stout W&L defense and Stevenson looming. (D-III) — Are the Hornets a legit top 5 team? Close wins 6-4 over F&M, 5-4 McDaniel, 11-9 Cabrini and slow start at Gettysburg. The answer should come next week when they take on W&L and Stevenson. (Dehuntshigwa'es) — #7. Hornets; we will see you on 3/27. (goalielax10) — #9. A one-loss team. (idealtin) — #5. No test coming up until W&L. (laxdood22) — #11. They blew out Guilford as they should have. (longstick33) — #8. (minkhoo) — Showed they can hang in the close ones and once again dominate most of the ODAC teams. (nevadajoe) — #6. (Richard) — #5. Rolled Guilford. (thatsmell) — One goal from being undefeated. (The Reason) — LC stays in top 10, readies for date in Lexington in 11 days. (valaxfan) — #11. (Youngred)

Stevens: #8. Took a shorthanded Cortland to overtime but just couldn't hold on. Then slow out of the gates against Tufts. Tough week for the Ducks. (Big Eyed Fish) — Oh, so close vs. Cortland and Stevenson, but still in-region losses. (corkscrew) — #7. Not going to drop too far after losing to probably the two best teams in the country. Almost knocked off Cortland. Overwhelmed by Tufts. (D-III) — #10. May not be ready for the big time just yet. Still a top 10 team. Montclair State this week will not be as easy as some think. (goalielax10) — #11. Tough loss to Cortland in OT, then gets beaten by the Jumbos 'pretty easily'. (idealtin) — #7. Battled two of top teams in the nation. Fell in OT to Cortland and got a taste of a full Tufts squad. (laxdood22) — #9. A rough week for the Ducks. Two losses against top opponents show they are not quite there yet. They are giving up way too many goals right now. A team I thought was a lock for the E8 is now one I could see having trouble with Nazareth and Ithaca. (longstick33) — #12. (minkhoo) — Need to rebound from the two losses even though they were to two really good teams. (nevadajoe) — #10. (Richard) — #7. Two tough losses in a row, but both to what appear to be very solid teams. (thatsmell) — They can score! Lost to two good teams this week. (The Reason) — Has a tough week but still a quality team. (valaxfan) — #7. (Youngred)

Salisbury: #9. Teams starting to get better and better. Wasn't surprised by the win over Roanoke, but was surprised that they dropped 17. Offense is figuring it out. (Big Eyed Fish) — Stock is rising fast. (corkscrew) — #10. Win over York sets the tone for the CAC, where the Gulls might not be as dominant as usual. Latest team to carve up Roanoke, but that might not be saying much anymore. (D-III) — #11. Still not the Salisbury of old, but dropping 17 on a rival and running away from them at their place is still a big deal. (goalielax10) — #8. Destroyed the Maroons but so far the Maroons have shown nutin'. (idealtin) — #10. Does the win mean Salisbury offense is back to pumping in goals, or was this just proving that Noke is just not there this year? (laxdood22) — #7. A pedestrian effort over York and completely dominated an underachieving Roanoke team. If the Sea Gulls keep improving on the offensive end, they will be a factor at the end of the season. (longstick33) — #7. (minkhoo) — Nice, efficient game vs. York. (nevadajoe) — #8. (Richard) — #10. Explodes for 17 against a young Noke team. Again, the Gulls appear to be a work in progress this season. (thatsmell) — Big win against York! They beat Roanoke convincingly. (The Reason) — #5. Impressive win over Noke. (valaxfan) — #9. (Youngred)

Washington & Lee: #14. Keeps chugging along. (Big Eyed Fish) — #9. Can't sleep on Mary Wash. (D-III) — Continue to win for now. (Dehuntshigwa'es) — #6. A week off and only a four-goal win to open conference play has me a little worried. Mary Washington and Guilford will test the Generals early in their match-ups this week, but W&L should pull out the victories as they lead to their 3/27 showdown at home. (goalielax10) — #7. Loss to the Sho'men is only blemish. (idealtin) — #13. Big match-up with Lynchburg coming up. (laxdood22) — #12. A nice win over Randolph-Macon. (longstick33) — #10. (minkhoo) — Roll over R-Mac and begin the quest for the ODAC title. (nevadajoe) — #7. (Richard) — #9. Record gets them this high. Liked what I saw against Saliisbury, less excited with recent performance. (thatsmell) — 6-1 with only loss to Washington College. (The Reason) — Generals win, but defense looked out of sorts. Need to step up for UMW. (valaxfan) — #8. (Youngred)

Denison: #10. Moves up by simply winning. (Big Eyed Fish) — #19. Sneak back into the rankings as teams fall around them. On cruise control until Cabrini game. (D-III) — Weak schedule may hurt them in the end. (Dehuntshigwa'es) — #8. Leading up to their match-up with Cabrini on 4/6 hopefully they will be pushed like they were against Haverford. Unfortunately, I do not see that happening at this time. (goalielax10) — #14. Should win out the rest of the way. (idealtin) — #11. Big Red roll. (laxdood22) — #13. The Big Red keep winning. Congrats to Coach Caravana on his 200th win. Offensive contributions are coming from lots of different people. (longstick33) — #14. (minkhoo) — Solid performance against St. Mary's. (nevadajoe) — #11. (Richard) — #12. (thatsmell) — In three wins scored 17, 18, and 19 goals. (The Reason) — Coach C. gets 200th victory. Congrats! (valaxfan) — #15. (Youngred)

Cabrini: #12. Gets a much-needed win over Gettysburg but couldn't get by Cortland in the snow. (Big Eyed Fish) — #12. Good win against the Bullets, but a step down from Cortland. The Cavs are who we thought they were. (D-III) — #13. Best 3-3 team in the country. Two losses by a combined 5 goals, against top 10 teams. (goalielax10) — #15. Two tough ones coming up. I'm sure they will ready. (idealtin) — #12. Four games vs. Top 20 teams, going 1-3. Will it hurt or help the Cavs? (laxdood22) — #8. Gutted out a tough win over Gettysburg midweek and then dropped a tough one to Cortland. Their attack continues to score goals and is a tough match-up for opponents. (longstick33) — #13. (minkhoo) — Another eventful week as they hang tough vs. Cabrini and then are out-gunned by Cortland. (nevadajoe) — #14. (Richard) — #13. Don't let three losses fool you. This is a solid team that, like SU, is a work in progress. They will be dangerous come May. (thatsmell) — Plays a very tough schedule. (The Reason) — #12. (Youngred)

Gettysburg: #13. Couldn't get by Cabrini and nearly drops the ball against and underrated Eastern. There's a lot of good teams left on their schedule. (Big Eyed Fish) — #14. Can't sleep on a pesky Haverford team. I don't know who will win, but I know the score will be 12-11. (D-III) — #17. Three straight one-goal games. Two wins, one loss. Head scratcher? Or a good thing? (goalielax10) — #18. Letting too many teams hang around is going to bite you in the butt. Has to learn to finish a little better. (idealtin) — #9. 1-1 week. (laxdood22) — #10. Three 1-goal games in a row. Dropped a tough one to Cabrini and then needed OT to get by a a very good Eastern team. (longstick33) — #11. (minkhoo) — Nipped by Cabrini and stretched to the limit by Eastern. We'd like to see them be more consistent in the Centennial. (nevadajoe) — #15. (Richard) — #11. (thatsmell) — Tough week. (The Reason) — Loses close one to drop back a bit. (valaxfan) — #13. (Youngred)

Western New England: #16. An interesting week. Gets two nice wins and butt-whooping. Still not sure what this team's made of. (Big Eyed Fish) — #13. Not sure if the RIT loss says more about RIT or WNE. Need to figure it out on offense, getting clamped down by talented poles. Regrouped against Nazareth to take something away from Rochester. Now its Tufts week. (D-III) — #12. Two games in on their five-game road trip. Things are starting to click for the Bears. Nice win against Nazareth. (goalielax10) — #12. Loss to RIT had me hoping for two losses in Rochester. Wasn't happening, as they beat the snot out of Nazareth. (idealtin) — #14. 1-1 in the Flower City Cup, with a win over Trinity mixed in. (laxdood22) — #14. A 2-1 week highlighted by a beat-down from RIT. A good team but not quite top-notch yet. (longstick33) — #16. (minkhoo) — #12. (Richard) — #16. (thatsmell) — Tough weekend; beat Nazareth. (The Reason) — Two solid wins and loss to top-5 RIT; really, not a bad week. (valaxfan) — #14. (Youngred)

Middlebury: #15. Sitting pretty at 3-0, but has a tough week coming up. (Big Eyed Fish) — #11. Panthers look dangerous this year. Have won three games three different ways. Balanced on offense, senior poles, and a goalie who is locked in, that is a recipe for a good season and a deep run in May. Can they keep it up? (D-III) — #15. Welcome to my top 20, Panthers. (goalielax10) — #10. Watched this team beat up on Springfield. Looks as though the Panthers have come back after a couple year hiatus. (idealtin) — #16. I saw somewhere on here from a fellow user that there was no way Midd would have a repeat year. They come out firing to start 2013. (laxdood22) — #15. Undefeated with quality wins against Springfield and Conn. College. The Panthers might be back. Jon Broome has a bright future ahead of him. (longstick33) — #15. (minkhoo) — Quietly at 3-0 to start the season. (nevadajoe) — #16. (Richard) — #14. How did I forget about the Panthers? (thatsmell) — Are they ready to return? Two easy wins. (The Reason) — #10. (Youngred)

Union: #11. Gets by a struggling Springfield. Probably not as good as number 11 ... time will tell. (Big Eyed Fish) — #15. Withholding judgment until the Cabrini game, which should be a good one. (D-III) — #14. We will not confuse Basile with Aaron, but he is still stopping over 65% of the shots he has faced this year. (goalielax10) — #13. One loss first game out of the gate and rolling since. Might be a little high here not sure. Game with Cabrini should shed some more light. (idealtin) — #20. Three in a row since the opening season loss. (laxdood22) — #17. A good win over a decent Springfield team. Lots of work to do. (longstick33) — #9. (minkhoo) — #13. (Richard) — Tough to play Cortland right out of the box. Team seems to be back on track. (The Reason) — #16. (Youngred)

Ithaca: #19. Trip to Virginia was very successful. Should be undefeated when they face #1 Cortland this Friday. (Big Eyed Fish) — #16. Weak competition, but everyone around them is losing. Long seems to have this group playing D in front a freshman keeper. Roberts, Ryan and Wacenske are a very talented group of poles. That said, Cortland is a huge step up in opponent. Not sure Ithaca has the firepower to compete. (D-III) — #21. Four straight wins to start the season. A lot of energy will be spent playing the other Red Dragons from Oneonta two days before they play CState. (goalielax10) — #16. Nice spring trip. Undefeated and its next two opponents are both named Red Dragons. (idealtin) — #19. Perfect to start. (laxdood22) — #20. 4-0 A big week looming with two match-ups against SUNYAC teams Oneonta and Cortland. (longstick33) — #17. (minkhoo) — Great start. Cortland game awaits this week and will be a true test for them. (nevadajoe) — #20. (Richard) — #15. Off to a 4-0 start, with a good win over a feisty Christopher Newport team. Let's see if they can maintain. (thatsmell) — #18. (Youngred)

Connecticut College: #18. Interesting week - beats Tufts and then gets hammered by Middlebury. (Big Eyed Fish) — #17. Forced to play a compact zone against Midd as there are a lot of question marks on defense and they start a freshman in goal. Offense still has talent, but Cornell needs to look at the success in Bowdoin game, let them loose, and drop the conservative style or the losses will pile up. (D-III) — #16. Offense was stifled against Middlebury. Maryland rad trip for the Camels this week maybe a grind. (goalielax10) — #18. Overall, the Camels have some soft winnable non-league games to build some wins. (laxdood22) — #19. The game against Tufts this week was in conditions that were perfect for a duck. It was tough to tell anything from that game. Middlebury dominated them on Saturday, and they have a big game looming on Wednesday with Plattsburgh. (longstick33) — #20. (minkhoo) — Need to find a goalie! (The Reason)

Roanoke: #23. (laxdood22) — Two easy victories against mid-level D-III teams. (nevadajoe) — NR. (thatsmell)

Nazareth: #22. Another inconsistent week for the Golden Flyers. That's a sign of youth. (Big Eyed Fish) — Close but no cigar. Did not show up against WNE. Still feel as though they can win the majority of the games on their schedule. (idealtin) — #15. Holding steady for me. (laxdood22) — #23. (Richard) — Up and down weekend! (The Reason) — #22. (Youngred)

Plattsburgh: #20. Sitting pretty at 6-0. A match-up with Conn. College will show us what this team is made off. (Big Eyed Fish) — #18. Cardinals keep knocking them down. (goalielax10) — #17. Undefeated. Outscored their opponents 92-27. Something brewing in the North Country? (idealtin) — #18. 6-0 and they continue to blow teams out. They won two games this week by a combined score of 35-3. (longstick33) — #21. (minkhoo) — They will face their first real challenges this week against Conn. College and Mary Wash. Either they get into the Top 20 or fall off the radar. (nevadajoe) — #19. (Richard) — #21. 6-0 with best win over a down RPI. Bout with Conn College this week should tell us more. (thatsmell) — #17. (Youngred)

Wesleyan: #24. One of many NESCAC teams capable of holding this spot. (Big Eyed Fish) — #17. Solid start. (laxdood22) — #16. Three years in a row they drop a game to Bates. Can't explain it. It just happens. (longstick33) — #25. (minkhoo) — #25. (Richard) — Third year they lost to Bates. (The Reason)

Mary Washington: #19. (minkhoo) — A tough road trip to W&L and hosting Plattsburgh this week. We will know how good this team is with the results of these two games. (nevadajoe) — #18. Dark horse in the CAC? (thatsmell)

Ursinus: #18. Not exactly facing a murderer's row of opponents but getting the job done. Eastern will be a test and the true marker of whether this team deserves to be ranked. (D-III) — #18. (minkhoo) — #17. Dark horse in the Centennial? (thatsmell) — #21. (Youngred)

St. Lawrence: #23. Lost to a tough Bowdoin team. Doesn't drop out simply because there were so many other losses. (Big Eyed Fish) — #22. (laxdood22) — #24. (Richard)

Hampden-Sydney: #20. Winning games they should. (goalielax10) — Should continue with success this week. (nevadajoe) — #19. All eyes were on Noke to start the season, but H-SC could be the young challenger in the ODAC. (thatsmell)

Bowdoin: #25. 0-2 in the NESCAC to start, yikes. (Big Eyed Fish) — #21. (laxdood22) — #17. (Richard) — #25. (Youngred)

York: Should continue to roll this week. (nevadajoe) — #24. (Youngred)

Geneseo:

Eastern: #20. Hung tough with Gettysburg. After the Ursinus game, should win out easily and get a Pool B bid. Will be a challenging first round game in the NCAAs for a higher seed. (D-III) — #23. (minkhoo) — Statement game against Ursinus this week will tell if this team belongs in the Top 20. (nevadajoe) — #21. (Richard) — #20. Opened some eyes with close loss to G'burg. Good match-up with Ursinus may help us gauge if the Eagles are for real. (thatsmell) — #19. (Youngred)

St. Mary's:

Clarkson: #24. Not a lot of flash, but the Ws have been coming. (goalielax10) — #24. (laxdood22) — #22. (minkhoo) — #18. (Richard) — #20. (Youngred)

Keene State: #17. 4-0 moves this team into the top 20. (Big Eyed Fish) — #23. Small sample size, but the Owls have looked good in their opening four games. (goalielax10) — #24. (minkhoo) — #22. (Richard)

St. John Fisher: #19. Win against RIT this week should have them in everyone's top 15. (goalielax10) — #19. Beating all takers. Big game vs. the Tigers this week. (idealtin) — #23. (Youngred)

Trinity: #21. Rough two-loss week for the Bantams. Good chance to pick up two wins before heading into the thick of NESCAC play. (Big Eyed Fish)

Amherst: #25. (laxdood22)

Widener: #20. Lost to three tough opponents by 3 markers - earns the Pride a spot in my top 20. (idealtin) — Play tough defense and can hang with the elite teams. (nevadajoe) — NR. Receive honorable mention as the best 3-3 team in the land. All losses were close to some good Southern teams. Look to be only obstacle to Stevenson in the MAC. (thatsmell)

Ohio Wesleyan: Look like they have the stuff to compete with the big boys. (nevadajoe)

Hamilton: To win in NESCAC is not easy! (The Reason)

Other Teams Pollsters Considered (and comments, if any)

. Springfield:

. Franklin & Marshall:

. Colorado College: #22. Undefeated (that word is in quotes) heading into their showdown with the defending national champs. (goalielax10)
