Pollsters' Comments About Teams They Ranked

Cortland: #1. Not really playing great but keep winning. The Stevenson loss keeps them at #1. (Big Eyed Fish) — Still winning but making it interesting in overtime. (corkscrew) — #2. Tight games, but winning; they are a big game program. Get through RIT this week, and they are almost a lock for the #1 seed, which they will need to advance deep in May. (D-III) — Tough game on 3/27 with RIT, then hit the cruise control switch. (Dehuntshigwa'es) — #1. (goalielax10) — #1. Moves to my top spot, winning all the close games. Very tough game vs. Tigers on Wednesday. (idealtin) — #1. They are being tested and pulling out the wins. RIT is up next. (laxdood22) — #1. (longstick33) — #1. Dragons come out on top in battle with Bombers. (minkhoo) — It shows the character of a team when they can hang tough and win the overtime games against quality opponents. Tough one vs. RIT this week. (nevadajoe) — #1.Taken to the limit by Ithaca. Offense needs work. (Richard) — New #1 for the week! A solid team, winning those close ones. Will need to clean things up with RIT coming to town. Waiting for a team to rise above all others like Salisbury used to, but alas, parity has hit D3. (thatsmell) — Winning the close ones. (The Reason) — #1 Parity creeping in. (valaxfan) — #1. (Youngred)

Dickinson: #2. A close win over Colorado College really isn't that impressive. They seem to be cooling off as the season goes on. (Big Eyed Fish) — Undefeated but some close wins against unranked teams is interesting. (corkscrew) — #3. Like Cortland, another team winning close games, but the difference is, their opponents are not Top-20 caliber. Cause for concern, but it is all about the week of April 7 for the Devils. #1 seed in the South in on the line. (D-III) — Need to stay focused, legit title contender. Collision looming with WAC. (Dehuntshigwa'es) — #2. (goalielax10) — #2. Last two games are a bit close for comfort but still getting the W. (idealtin) — #6. Got through a couple one-goal games and remains perfect. (laxdood22) — #2. (longstick33) — #2. Devils last two wins were a bit uncomfortably close. (minkhoo) — Were they looking past Colorado College, or are they showing signs of vulnerability as the conference begins? (nevadajoe) — #2. (Richard) — #2. For the second week in a row, needed some last minute heroics to get the job done. Waiting for a team to rise above all others like Salisbury used to, but alas, parity has hit D3. (thatsmell) — Only beat one team in top 20. (The Reason) — #2 Close call to CC. (valaxfan) — #2. (Youngred)

Stevenson: Momentary lapse in momentum? (AO) — #5. Losses an ugly one and then takes it out on Hood. They'll host Lynchburg this week. (Big Eyed Fish) — #5. Another great defensive effort against Tufts, but lose a big one at home. Lynchburg game will answer a lot of questions. (D-III) — Loss to Tufts moves them down but still an elite team. (Dehuntshigwa'es) — #8. (goalielax10) — #7. Hornet and Gull games will tell us more. Very good team. (idealtin) — #4. Really thought I would see more offense vs. Tufts. Reid held scoreless in the one-goal loss. (laxdood22) — #3. (longstick33) — #4. Tough loss to Tufts but Mustangs still F4 material. (minkhoo) — Easy conference win, as they all will be for the Mustangs this year. (nevadajoe) — #4. Offense is a weak point. This hasn't changed since the early season. (Richard) — #3. Drop from the #1 spot with a loss to Tufts. (thatsmell) — No competition till the Salisbury game. (The Reason) — #4 Tough loss moves Stangs down. (valaxfan) — #4. (Youngred)

Tufts: #4. Won a really sloppy one at Stevenson and dropped 20 on WNEC. Add a win over Colby, and this team is playing well. They are giving up a lot of goals, though. (Big Eyed Fish) — #1. 8 days, 4 games, 3 Top-15 opponents, 2000+ miles traveled, 4 wins. They were my preseason #1 and earned it back. Still a lot of work to be done, but the talent is a tier above the rest of D3 this year. Strong on both sides of the ball. Goalie controversy? Probably not, but worth monitoring. (D-III) — Two losses hurt but good wins after poor start. (Dehuntshigwa'es) — #7. (goalielax10) — #6. Probably the best of all the teams; however, with two losses, I'm going to keep them here for now. (idealtin) — #3. Great week for Tufts. Takes down Stevenson, comes back over Colby, and hangs 20 on WNEU. They have four really, really good wins. (laxdood22) — #6. (longstick33) — #3. Jumbos have been very impressive with a full squad. (minkhoo) — Back in the groove now with the win over Stevenson and as they fight the NESCAC schedule. (nevadajoe) — #3.Two strong wins. Defense wins vs. a not so good Stevenson offense, then they follow with a very strong offensive effort vs. WNEU. I'm not so sure what to think about this team, but they were winners. (Richard) — #6. Jump up to with good win against Stevenson. Trying to ignore those two early season losses from when this team was missing some critical pieces due to suspension. But it's still part of their resume. (thatsmell) — Won four in nine days during spring break. Imagine if they didn't have to go to class. (The Reason) — #3 Big win moves Jumbos up. (valaxfan) — #3. (Youngred)

RIT: #3. Really good chance that they take down a struggling Red Dragon squad. Always a great game. (Big Eyed Fish) — #6. Struggled with SJF and were business-like against Clarkson. In the mix for the #1 seed in the North, and the Cortland game would be a big step. Hopefully they can develop an Internet connection before hosting NCAA games in May. (D-III) — Great opportunity with Cortland on 3/27. (Dehuntshigwa'es) — #4. (goalielax10) — #4. Taking care of business. I think this team will beat Cortland on Wednesday. (idealtin) — #2. Have been rolling since the opening season loss. Showdown with Cortland. (laxdood22) — #5. (longstick33) — #5. Tigers keep winning. (minkhoo) — Cortland this week. (nevadajoe) — #5. (Richard) — #4. A preview of the North semifinal this week with Cortland on the slate? (thatsmell) — They can score and play defense. (The Reason) — #5. (valaxfan) — #5. (Youngred)

Washington College: #6. Schedule is ramping up. Time to see what this team is made off. (Big Eyed Fish) — #4. Could not pull away from McDaniel but got the win. Gave up too many quality shots. If that happens again on Wednesday, Haverford will beat them going away. (D-III) — 7-0 and still rolling. On a collision course with Dickinson. (Dehuntshigwa'es) — #3. (goalielax10) — #3. Beating all teams soundly. (idealtin) — #7. Still perfect, but don't sleep on F&M. (laxdood22) — #4. (longstick33) — #6. A close win in Centennial opener for the Shoremen. (minkhoo) — Rolling into the conference games on all cylinders. (nevadajoe) — #6. (Richard) — #7. I guess this team is top 10, by default. (thatsmell) — Defeated only one team in top 20. (The Reason) — WAC season setting up nicely. Two critical games this week. (valaxfan) — #6. (Youngred)

Lynchburg: #7. They'll travel to Stevenson this week for a huge match-up but not before facing W&L in ODAC action. (Big Eyed Fish) — #8. Massive week for the Hornets. (D-III) — Hornets hit the road to take on the Generals this Wednesday night. (Dehuntshigwa'es) — #6. (goalielax10) — #10. Only loss to the Bullets. (idealtin) — #5. Two big ones coming up that could be signature wins. Best win is over the Cavs. (laxdood22) — #9. (longstick33) — #8. Hornets are talented and dangerous, the top of the ODAC. (minkhoo) — Big road game this week as they visit W&L. (nevadajoe) — #7. (Richard) — #5. Heading to Lexington this week for a huge ODAC showdown. (thatsmell) — 7-1 and beat two teams in top 20. (The Reason) — Big game in LexVegas under the lights. (valaxfan) — #11. (Youngred)

Salisbury: #8. Improving rapidly. (Big Eyed Fish) — Up and down team but on a good winning streak. (corkscrew) — #10. Ho-hum until Stevenson. (D-III) — Gulls have shaken off the early season woes. Berkman best coach in D-III has nursed the team back to health. You do not want to face the Gulls in the post-season; they could be flying high. (Dehuntshigwa'es) — #11. (goalielax10) — #9. Have found their mojo. Not a Gull team of the past but still very good. (idealtin) — #10. Despite the winning streak, still don't know what to think of the Sea Gulls. (laxdood22) — #7. (longstick33) — #7. Gulls seem to have their mojo back. (minkhoo) — Easy week ahead, as they get ready for the battle with Stevenson. (nevadajoe) — #9. (Richard) — #10. Waiting for the light to go on for the SU offense. But a decent resume so far, even if the team is not dominating like years past. (thatsmell) — Stevenson is their only competition. (The Reason) — They are winning with their defense. (valaxfan) — #9. (Youngred)

Washington & Lee: #12. It's finally time to see if this team will be a contender in the ODAC again. Big one against Lynchburg. (Big Eyed Fish) — #9. Quality win over Mary Washington. Host Lynchburg. No excuses; if this is a top-15 team, they get the win. (D-III) — Battle for the ODAC shaping up this Wednesday. (Dehuntshigwa'es) — #5. (goalielax10) — #8. Big game vs. Lynchburg. Get past that and then on cruise control. (idealtin) — #14. Holding steady with a lone loss to Washington College. (laxdood22) — #12. (longstick33) — #10. Generals will need the A+ game to deal with the Hornets. (minkhoo) — Will this week's game decide who gets the first seed in the ODAC tournament? (nevadajoe) — #8. (Richard) — #9. Hosting LC this week for ODAC bragging rights. (thatsmell) — 8-1 and defeated Salisbury. That's the only reason they're ranked this high. (The Reason) — Generals move down with unimpressive win over Quakers. (valaxfan) — #8. (Youngred)

Stevens: #9. Nearly drops one against Montclair. Teams seem to be figuring Stevens out. (Big Eyed Fish) — #11. Defense has been non-existent. Get a mid-season break, and Peluso better use it to go back to the drawing board, or this team will be a quick out in May. Can't win with a quality offensive midfield only. (D-III) — 6-2 with losses to Cortland and Tufts. Still a dangerous team. (Dehuntshigwa'es) — #10. (goalielax10) — #11. Chinks in the armor. E8 not a gimme anymore (I never thought it was going to be). Defense is vulnerable. (idealtin) — #8. Perhaps the Ducks are coming back down to Earth? Started the season of 5-0; they are now 6-2. With a couple bounces going the other way, they could easily be 4-4. (laxdood22) — #8. (longstick33) — #11. Another tight win for the Ducks. (minkhoo) — Good job in holding off Montclair State. (nevadajoe) — #10. (Richard) — #8. (thatsmell) — They can score but need to play better defense. (The Reason) — #7. (Youngred)

Middlebury: #10. Gets another pair of wins. Middlebury has really bounced back from a poor season last year. (Big Eyed Fish) — #7. Struggled against the Wesleyan zone. Need the midfield to produce on offense in the coming weeks. Defense has been excellent. Three home games in a row through the rest of March. (D-III) — Panthers are 5-0. Is this program back? (Dehuntshigwa'es) — #12. (goalielax10) — #5. Top of the heap in the NESCAC, the Panthers are back. (idealtin) — #12. Midd jumps into my top 15 being lead by a freshman finisher. Looking like its them and Tufts in the NESCAC. (laxdood22) — #14. (longstick33) — #9. Looks like the Panthers are bouncing back after last year. (minkhoo) — Back to the glory years with the 5-0 start to the season. (nevadajoe) — #13. (Richard) — #11. Off and running. Nice start for the Panthers. (thatsmell) — If they keep playing like this, they will be in Top 10 soon. (The Reason) — Panthers playing better than advertised. (valaxfan) — #10. (Youngred)

Cabrini: #11. Plays a good Ithaca team this week. Has done decent against a really tough schedule. (Big Eyed Fish) — #12. Quality win at home against Union. Ithaca's poles will be a test for their attack. Strength against strength. (D-III) — Best 4-3 team in D-III. (Dehuntshigwa'es) — #13. (goalielax10) — #12. Smack-down vs. the Dutchmen. Playing another very good defensive team this week in the Bombers. (idealtin) — #13. SOS of #1 according to this site. They stand at 4-3 with two more top 20 games. After those top 20 dates, they should roll. (laxdood22) — #10. (longstick33) — #13. Cavaliers overcome Dutchmen, making them 2-3 in their T20 early schedule. (minkhoo) — Solid win at home against Union. (nevadajoe) — #12. (Richard) — #14. Solid team that has the luxury of being able to schedule the toughest games possible and having zero NCAA implications due to a light conference. ANOTHER big game with Ithaca coming up. Should be a fun one to watch. (thatsmell) — Tough schedule!! (The Reason) — #12. (Youngred)

Denison: #13. Keeps winning. (Big Eyed Fish) — Close win over Wooster. (corkscrew) — #16. (D-III) — Easy schedule until OWU, then anything can happen. (Dehuntshigwa'es) — #9. (goalielax10) — #14. On cruise control till Cabrini. (idealtin) — #11. Heading into the North Coast part of their schedule with a date with Cabrini mixed in. (laxdood22) — #13. (longstick33) — #16. Big Red will be unchallenged until Cabrini visits. (minkhoo) — Good start in the conference and should not be tested this week either. (nevadajoe) — #11. (Richard) — #13. (thatsmell) — 6-1. (The Reason) — Keep winning. (valaxfan) — #15. (Youngred)

Gettysburg: #14. Better get ready to go to through a tough Centennial conference. (Big Eyed Fish) — #13. Quality win against Haverford was the Bullets' most complete effort of the season. Dominated the second half. Smith looks like a great freshman. Not a team that can take anyone on their schedule lightly. (D-III) — Can they challenge Dickinson and WAC for the Centennial? (Dehuntshigwa'es) — #14. (goalielax10) — #15. Tough league play at hand. (idealtin) — #9. Road looks good leading to the Dickinson game. (laxdood22) — #11. (longstick33) — #12. Solid win for Bullets over Haverford. (minkhoo) — Nice win to start their conference schedule this week. Cannot overlook Widener this week. (nevadajoe) — #14. (Richard) — #12. Cenennial off to a hot start, but I'm not sold on the Bullets being this good, just yet. (thatsmell) — 5-2. (The Reason) — Game against Eastern is a head-shaker, but they won. (valaxfan) — #13. (Youngred)

Ithaca: #20. Much improved team from last year. Took Cortland to 2OT. They'll have to bounce back against an undefeated Oswego, who beat them last year, and a good Cabrini squad this week. Really impressed by frosh goalie Sidnam. (Big Eyed Fish) — Good start to season. (corkscrew) — #14. Proved they are back in defeat, pushing Cortland to the limit on the road. A lot of work to do on offense, as they struggle to generate scoring chances, but their defense will keep them in most games. (D-III) — #21. (goalielax10) — #13. Could not put away C'state in a snowstorm. Defense looks stout. (idealtin) — #15. Off to their best start since 2009. (laxdood22) — #16. (longstick33) — #14. Bombers give Dragons a run for their money. (minkhoo) — Gave Cortland all they could handle before losing in OT. (nevadajoe) — #17. (Richard) — #15. Rise even with a loss. Showed they can hang with the big boys. Can continue the ascent with a win over Cabrini this week. (thatsmell) — Lost to Cortland in OT. (The Reason) — Nice game against the Red Dragons. (valaxfan) — #16. (Youngred)

Western New England: Gave up too many goals to validate a rank of anything higher than 18 at the moment. (AO) — #17. This is a good team that's playing better teams right now. (Big Eyed Fish) — #15. Clearly a tier behind the Top-5 teams, but never an easy out. (D-III) — A very good .500 team. (Dehuntshigwa'es) — #15. (goalielax10) — #16. Beat-down they gave to Nazareth was given to them by Tufts. (idealtin) — #17. Thought I would see more out of WNEU in the early going. (laxdood22) — #17. (longstick33) — #17. Golden Bears are 0-3 versus T10 opponents. (minkhoo) — #15. (Richard) — Lost to three top 10 teams. (The Reason) — #14. (Youngred)

Union: #15. Ran into a good Cabrini team. Not sure this team will be able to hang onto a top 20 spot all season. (Big Eyed Fish) — #17. Disappointing at Cabrini. A chance for a statement win, and they came up short. Not sure this is a Top-20 team. (D-III) — #16. (goalielax10) — #18. Good but not great. Got beaten pretty handily by Cabrini. (idealtin) — #22. (laxdood22) — #19. (longstick33) — #15. Dutchmen are 0-2 versus T20. (minkhoo) — #21. (Richard) — On the way out of the top 20. (The Reason) — #17. (Youngred)

Nazareth: #18. Good week and gains some momentum heading into E-8 play. (Big Eyed Fish) — #18. (goalielax10) — #19. Starting to get team back to full strength. Will be ready for the E8 rigors. Big game on Saturday vs. RIT. DO NOT overlook Utica team on Wednesday. (idealtin) — #16. Winning two of the next three would be a really good thing for Nazareth. (laxdood22) — #18. (longstick33) — #20. (Richard) — 5-3. (The Reason) — #21. (Youngred)

Mary Washington: Good winning streak. (corkscrew) — #19. Quality (?) win against Plattsburgh. Not much else on their resume that says Top-20, but here for now. (D-III) — #20. (longstick33) — #18. Eagles struggled with W&L defense, but they had a good win against Plattsburgh. (minkhoo) — Handled a pretty good Plattsburgh team their first loss of the season. (nevadajoe) — #19. (Richard) — #16. Nice win over Plattsburgh gets the Eagles on the map. (thatsmell)

Connecticut College: #25. I think they've played the better half of the NESCAC, but they need to get some wins. (Big Eyed Fish) — #20. (goalielax10) — #19. CC 3-1 in NESCAC to start. (laxdood22) — #20. Camels struggle with Plattsburgh. (minkhoo) — #19. (thatsmell) — 3-1 in NESCAC. (The Reason)

Plattsburgh: #21. Upset by solid Mary Washington on the road, Cardinals have to be disappointed. They'll try to shock the Dragons on Saturday. (Big Eyed Fish) — #19. (goalielax10) — #20. Tough loss to Marymount. Still in my top 20. (idealtin) — #18. Have been around the 20-25 range all year. (laxdood22) — #19. Cardinals with big win over Conn College but struggle in Virginia. (minkhoo) — Tough road loss to Mary Wash. Let's see if they can rebound this week and stay in the Top 20. (nevadajoe) — #22. (Richard) — Hanging in in the top 20, barely at #18. Despite loss to UMW, win over CC still counts. Rising as others beat up on each other. (thatsmell) — Beat Conn. College. (The Reason) — #20. (Youngred)

Wesleyan: #22. Pretty good team, but needs to string together some wins. (Big Eyed Fish) — #18. Battled the Panthers in Vermont. That said, Raba should be embarrassed with what happened when time expired. Lucky that no one was injured. Like Union, Mary Wash and Roanoke, not sure they are Top-20 team, but no one else has earned this spot either. (D-III) — #21. (laxdood22) — #15. (longstick33) — #19. (Youngred)

Roanoke: #20. By default. (D-III) — #25. (laxdood22) — Still can't figure out if this team is getting better or worse as the season goes on. (nevadajoe) — NR. Fortunately for the Maroons, either W&L or Lynchburg will lose an ODAC game this week. (thatsmell)

Keene State: #16. 5-0 and playing well. Bates and Union are looming the next two weeks. (Big Eyed Fish) — #22. (goalielax10) — #21. Owls undefeated against so-so schedule. (minkhoo) — #18. (Richard) — #18. (Youngred)

York: #23. Spartans are quietly becoming a factor in the CAC. (minkhoo) — Looks like they will be a challenge for the other CAC teams. (nevadajoe) — #17. Nice win over F&M. Resume is decent enough. Rising as others beat up on each other. (thatsmell) — #24. (Youngred)

Hampden-Sydney: #23. Could be 10-2 heading into Roanoke game. (Big Eyed Fish) — #17. (goalielax10) — #24. Tigers are dangerous in the ODAC. (minkhoo) — Easy start to their conference schedule, and they won't be tested until the tail end of the ODAC schedule. (nevadajoe) — #20. Rising as others beat up on each other. Tigers hope to make a mark in the ODAC this year but don't get Noke and co. for another 2+ weeks. (thatsmell)

Bowdoin: #19. Tough week for the Polar Bears coming up. They need to earn some wins over regionally ranked opponents. (Big Eyed Fish) — #16. (Richard) — #25. (Youngred)

Widener: Best 3-4 team out there. (AO) — G'burg game this week determines if they stay in contention for a spot in the poll. (nevadajoe)

St. John Fisher: #24. Played RIT close; this team is better than expected. I'd like to see them make some noise in the E-8. (Big Eyed Fish) — #23. (goalielax10) — #17. Almost had RIT. Great player at the dot, and defense looks solid. (idealtin) — #20. Almost stole one vs. RIT. (laxdood22) — #23. (Youngred)

St. Lawrence: #24. (Richard)

Eastern: The road looks pretty clear to getting an at-large bid to the tournament. (nevadajoe) — #25. (Richard) — #21. (thatsmell)

Ohio Wesleyan:

Bates: Sneaking them in at #20. A young team with upside as the season progresses. Could play the role of spoiler in NESCAC. (Dehuntshigwa'es)

Other Teams Pollsters Considered (and comments, if any)

. Trinity:

. Springfield:

. Franklin & Marshall: #22. (thatsmell)

. Centenary: #25. (goalielax10)

. Hamilton: #24. (laxdood22)

. Ursinus: #22. Bears declawed by Swarthmore. (minkhoo) — Had them penciled in for the Top 20 until they tripped up at Swarthmore. Let me see how they fare with two tough conference foes this week. (nevadajoe) — #23. (thatsmell)

. Montclair State: Only losses are to top quality teams. (nevadajoe)
