Pollsters' Comments About Teams They Ranked

Cortland: #1. Continues to get wins but seems to always play to their competition. (Big Eyed Fish) — Winning close but still winning. (corkscrew) — #2. Beat Plattsburgh at their own game this weekend. Nice to see Beville open things up on offense. (D-III) — One of only two undefeated teams. Three wins in OT. So many times there are only one or two teams in D3 that can win a championship. Not this year. The doors are wide open. This could be the year for a first time champion!! (Dehuntshigwa'es) — #1. (goalielax10) — #1. A coach once told me you gotta win those one-goal games. Cortland is doing just that. (idealtin) — #1. Survival for Cortland. All you have to do is win by one and it's a win. (laxdood22) — #1. Winning but just barely. Made it through the tough part of the schedule. Do not see a loss until late in NCAAs. (LaxForNow) — #1. Still unbeaten. Huge OT win over RIT and a tough win over a gutsy Plattsburgh. They seem to be playing to their opponents' level, but as long as they keep coming out on the right side of those, they will be OK. (longstick33) — #1. The games are close, but the Dragons keep winning. (minkhoo) — On a serious roll as we go into April. (nevadajoe) — #1. (Richard) — #1. Unblemished against a tough slate of opponents. Deserving of the #1 ranking. (thatsmell) — They are still undefeated. (The Reason) — #1. Still 1st again but barely. Will these close games be a positive at NCAA time? (valaxfan) — #1 - If parity is the word in D3, the teams that can pull out those close, 1-goal, OT games set themselves apart. (Youngred)

Dickinson: #2. Like Cortland, they seem to be playing to their competition. (Big Eyed Fish) — Winning close but still winning. (corkscrew) — #3. Next three games like will determine where the Red Devils sit in the South seeding. (D-III) — Three wins like the Dragons by 1 goal. Soft games to date, but the competition is about to heat up. (Dehuntshigwa'es) — #2. (goalielax10) — #2. Still winning. (idealtin) — #5. Making it interesting with two one-goal wins - remains perfect. (laxdood22) — #3. Another 1-goal win to a team they should be much better than, but so many 1-goal games that it's hard to drop them and leave others alone. (LaxForNow) — #2. Still undefeated. A couple close calls. (longstick33) — #2. Devils seem to have hit a bit of a flat spot, but they keep winning. (minkhoo) — Must watch out for Haverford this week as they might be primed for an upset. (nevadajoe) — #2. (Richard) — #2. Still winning but cooled off a tad since the hot start. Tough Centennial schedule with hungry Haverford, G'burg, and WAC up next. (thatsmell) — Undefeated. (The Reason) — #3. Still winning. (valaxfan) — #2 - See Cortland comments. The only difference is that the close games D'son's played have come against some mediocre opponents. (Youngred)

Tufts: #3. Continues to pile up goals but is also giving up a lot. I'm looking forward to 4/7. (Big Eyed Fish) — #1. In a stretch of games right now where they are essentially playing a game every other day. Will be heavy favorites in each. Looks like the goalie controversy is real. (D-III) — Taking care of business. (Dehuntshigwa'es) — #3. (goalielax10) — #3. #3. Putting up impressive numbers ... letting in impressive numbers also. (idealtin) — #2. Patty Watkins has struggled in cage leading the way for back-ups to step in. The offense has been there to make up for it. (laxdood22) — #2. Cannot keep them at #1 with the way they let Trinity stay in the game. (LaxForNow) — #5. The Jumbos keep on winning. (longstick33) — #3. Five straight for the full squad Jumbos. (minkhoo) — Should stay on the winning streak this week, although game against Williams might be tighter than people expect. (nevadajoe) — #3. (Richard) — #4. Starting to roll as NESCAC slate heats up. (thatsmell) — They are still on top. Back to a busy week and weekend. Back to back games with Williams and Middlebury. (The Reason) — #2. Wins tough game. (valaxfan) — #3 - Right on schedule. Looking like the team everyone thought they are. (Youngred)

Stevenson: #4. Had a good week, but they may be starting to realize getting to Philadelphia isn't going to be a gimme. They'll be traveling to the Eastern Shore this week. (Big Eyed Fish) — Close game vs. Lynchburg. (corkscrew) — #4. Will be interesting to see how the Mustangs travel, as every big game they play seems to be on their home turf. (D-III) — Also three 1-goal wins. Solid 3rd for now. (Dehuntshigwa'es) — #4. (goalielax10) — #4. Dangerous team - I think they could be playing deep into May. (idealtin) — #4. Talk about grinding out wins. (laxdood22) — #4. Another 1-goal game at home. Will see how they play on the road next week. (LaxForNow) — #3. An OT win over Lynchburg. They might be the best team in the South. The last challenge on their schedule is this week against Salisbury. Their new conference does them no favors in getting them ready for the post-season. (longstick33) — #4. A trip to the Eastern Shore will test the Mustangs. (minkhoo) — Let Lynchburg back in and then finished them off in OT. This team must begin to play four full quarters and close out games when they have a 3-4 goal lead. Like their athletic offense though. (nevadajoe) — #4. (Richard) — #3. Nice win over a tough Lynchburg team. (thatsmell) — They won a close one. (The Reason) — #4. Escapes from the Hornets nest. (valaxfan) — #4 - The beads of sweat are building on Cantabene's upper lip with the Gulls staring right at him. Pressure would seem to be all on the Mustangs. Offense needs to be cohesive. I think they win a 2-goal game. (Youngred)

RIT: #5. Couldn't hold off the Red Dragons but hammered Nazareth. Team is lethal in transition. (Big Eyed Fish) — #5. Offense is playing like its 1999 again in Rochester. (D-III) — Maybe the best team with two losses out there, both in OT. (Dehuntshigwa'es) — #5. (goalielax10) — #5. Spanked Naz. Loads of talent, big players. Coon really understands the game and the team he has put together. (idealtin) — #3. Showed they can hang, with only two losses to top 5 teams. (laxdood22) — #7. Need to get over the hump and keep their lead. (LaxForNow) — #4. An OT loss to the #1 team in the country probably just gave them momentum. Poor Nazareth had to take the wrath of the Tigers' frustration. It's a good thing Coon and Randall are cool, or that could have been incredibly ugly. (longstick33) — #5. Tigers have OT losses to T5 teams as their only blemishes. (minkhoo) — Offense is humming right along. (nevadajoe) — #5. (Richard) — #5. Tough 2OT loss to Cortland, but overall a nicely rounded team. (thatsmell) — Lost to Cortland and destroyed Nazareth. (The Reason) — #5. Tough loss to Red Dragons but nice 10-goal win against Nazareth. (valaxfan) — #5 - RIT right there with the elite teams. (Youngred)

Salisbury: #7. Finally going to get see how improved this team really is. Stevenson and Mary Washington will really test the Gulls. (Big Eyed Fish) — #6. Big week for the Gulls. We'll know how much they have improved by Saturday night. (D-III) — Here come the Gulls! They will be a factor before the season ends. Coaching, coaching, coaching, and Berkman is the best at it, a difference maker. (Dehuntshigwa'es) — #11. (goalielax10) — #6. Just like the Jeffersons ... movin' on up. (idealtin) — #8. Climbing in my poll with losses in other areas. Stevenson is the test to see how far they have come since the start of the season. (laxdood22) — #6. Chance to jump to top of South with win over Stevenson next week. (LaxForNow) — #6. They continue to beat up on lesser teams. That might be just what they need to get their offense clicking, though. A huge match-up on Wednesday with Stevenson will show us how far their O has come. (longstick33) — #6. Maybe not the Gulls of old, but nobody wants to play them. (minkhoo) — Big rivalry game against Stevenson this week. If their defense steps up, that will be the difference in the game. (nevadajoe) — #8. (Richard) — #8. May get a CAC challenge from Mary Washington this week. (thatsmell) — Keeps winning. They may be there in May. Winning quietly. (The Reason) — Playing better now. (valaxfan) — #7 - Quietly building momentum. Berkman has worked his usual magic with his young team. Beating Stevenson is more than realistic; wouldn't have thought so three weeks ago. (Youngred)

Lynchburg: #6. I actually thought this was a good week even with the loss. Showed a lot of guts against W&L and really gave Stevenson a great game. Going to be a tough out in May. (Big Eyed Fish) — Nice win over Washington & Lee, tough loss to Stevenson. Roanoke on Saturday. (corkscrew) — #7. Split their OT games against Top-10 competition; clearly a team that won't quit. (D-III) — Hornets split two games in OT. Where would this team be with Lisicky healthy? (Dehuntshigwa'es) — #7. (goalielax10) — #7. Tough OT loss but should cruise from here on out. (idealtin) — #6. Needed just one more from Sweet to pull it off. (laxdood22) — #5. Could not pull through at Stevenson. (LaxForNow) — #9. Split games against ranked teams. The Hornets are really playing four quarters though. (longstick33) — #7. Hornets show tremendous resiliency in comebacks at W&L and Stevenson. (minkhoo) — Have to like the way they kept at it in the 4th quarter against Stevenson. Roanoke game should be an indication of whether this team is getting better every week. (nevadajoe) — #6. (Richard) — #6. Tough OT loss to Stevie U. (thatsmell) — Played Stevenson tough. (The Reason) — Tail of 2OT games but a positive week for the Hornets. (valaxfan) — #8 - Along with W&L, just a notch below the elite teams in D3. (Youngred)

Stevens: #8. E-8 schedule begins, and it's looking tougher than previously thought. (Big Eyed Fish) — Who have they beaten that is ranked in top 50? (corkscrew) — #10. (D-III) — Montclair State 12-11??? (Dehuntshigwa'es) — #10. (goalielax10) — #9. Tough early schedule should help this team in the E8. (idealtin) — #7. Rolled. (laxdood22) — #9. (LaxForNow) — #7. Snuck by Montclair and beat up on Alfred. Their only losses are to top-ranked teams. They will need their midfield to keep dominating to keep it up. An Empire 8 team might sneak up on them if they don't stay focused. (longstick33) — #8. Ducks have losses to T3 teams as only two blemishes. (minkhoo) — Great start to their conference schedule. (nevadajoe) — #9. (Richard) — #9. Mighty Ducks still missing a signature win. May not get a shot at one until the last regular season game against Ithaca. (thatsmell) — Team to be reckoned with. (valaxfan) — #6 - Looking for a quality win. (Youngred)

Washington College: #9. I'm not surprised that F&M beat them, but I am surprised that they lost 16-9. Team needs to to bounce back - a lot of tough games coming up. (Big Eyed Fish) — Loss to unranked Franklin & Marshall drops the Shoremen. (corkscrew) — #8. Centennial grind catches up to the Shoremen. (D-III) — F&M 16-9 over WAC. Schedule heats up. (Dehuntshigwa'es) — #6. (goalielax10) — #11. Bad loss to F&M. (idealtin) — #9. Told you not to sleep on F&M. (laxdood22) — #11. Close game against McDaniel does not look so bad, another tough Centennial team. Not a good showing against F&M, but that shows tough league. (LaxForNow) — #8. Took their first loss of the season on a road to a good F&M team on the road. A tough Centennial schedule is ahead. (longstick33) — #11. Shoremen fall hard in Lancaster. (minkhoo) — Very bad loss to F&M. They must re-group as they have two tough conference games this week. (nevadajoe) — #10. (Richard) — #11. Where's the Deef(ense)? Caavy's Dips carve up the Easter geese. Is it the beginning of the end? Next five games will tell us all we need to know about the Sho'men. (thatsmell) — The loss hurts. (The Reason) — WAC falls back. (valaxfan) — #11 - Exposed by Haverford and demolished by F&M. Defense is suspect. (Youngred)

Washington & Lee: #13. Really disappointing finish against Lynchburg. I'd like to see them win out the rest of the regular season. (Big Eyed Fish) — Lose in overtime to Lynchburg in a game they had wrapped up. This after an uninspired win over Guilford in which a player got tossed. (corkscrew) — #9. Gave one away against Lynchburg and almost did it again against Virginia Wesleyan, not a good trend. (D-III) — Good win after a tough loss. If they ever play disciplined lacrosse for four qtrs, watch out. Berenis has been the straw that stirs this drink. (Dehuntshigwa'es) — #8. (goalielax10) — #13. Should win out from here. (idealtin) — #14. Almost put another big one on their resume. (laxdood22) — #12. (LaxForNow) — #11. What a collapse against Lynchburg. That was embarrassing. (longstick33) — #12. Generals fail to finish against Lynchburg. (minkhoo) — Still my favorite for the ODAC championship. (nevadajoe) — #7. (Richard) — #7. Appear to be cruising until a 4/20 showdown with a young Noke team. (thatsmell) — This was not a good loss. (The Reason) — Generals must finish season strong to be competitive for NCAA bid. (valaxfan) — #9 - See Lynchburg. (Youngred)

Cabrini: #11. Cabrini's best week to date, finally stringing together some wins. Face a 7-0 Centenary and very good Denison squad this week. (Big Eyed Fish) — Nice win over Ithaca. (corkscrew) — #12. (D-III) — Nice 10-8 win over Ithaca. (Dehuntshigwa'es) — #12. (goalielax10) — #10. Gutty win vs. Ithaca. Showed lots of fortitude to come back and score five goals in the 4th. (idealtin) — #13. 3-3 vs. Top 20 teams. (laxdood22) — #8. Good road win against Ithaca. (LaxForNow) — #10. A big week for Cabrini. Two wins over two ranked teams. Doesn't get much better than that. (longstick33) — #9. Two solid wins this week over northern teams for the Cavs. (minkhoo) — Good win against Ithaca. Game against Denison on Saturday will be the last real challenge on their schedule, as they will romp through the CSAC. (nevadajoe) — #12. (Richard) — #13. (thatsmell) — Tough team plays a tough schedule. (The Reason) — Winning the games they need to win. (valaxfan) — #10 - Can beat the 2nd-tier teams. At this point, that's what they are. (Youngred)

Denison: #12. Really big match-up this week at Cabrini, a must-win in case they can't close the North Coast. (Big Eyed Fish) — #14. Finally play another quality opponent this weekend. (D-III) — Soft schedule for now. Here come the Bishops. (Dehuntshigwa'es) — #9. (goalielax10) — #12. On cruise control. (idealtin) — #10. Rolled. (laxdood22) — #16. Need a tougher schedule to get movement. (LaxForNow) — #12. They keep on winning. The class of the NCAC right now. A game with Cabrini next weekend will give a better indication of where they are nationally. (longstick33) — #13. Big Red putting big numbers up against lesser opponents. (minkhoo) — Can move up with a win at Cabrini on Saturday. (nevadajoe) — #11. (Richard) — #10. (thatsmell) — Easy week. (valaxfan) — #12 - Need a quality win vs. Cabrini this week. Don't think they'll get it. (Youngred)

Middlebury: #10. Just couldn't get by Bowdoin. Really would've liked to see them be undefeated for their 4/7 game against Tufts. (Big Eyed Fish) — #11. For the second straight year, the Panthers offense seems to be taking a step back as April approaches. Shooting is a huge issue. (D-III) — Loss to Bowdoin, 7-6 - ouch. (Dehuntshigwa'es) — #13. (goalielax10) — #8. Tough loss to Bowdoin. Not playing their best now. (idealtin) — #12. Too little too late vs. Bowdoin. (laxdood22) — #13. Need to show more at home against Hamilton. Is this a repeat of last year, start strong and fade? (LaxForNow) — #13. Took their first loss, but it was a tough NESCAC team. They are looking like Tufts' only challenger for the conference. (longstick33) — #10. Panthers stumble at home. (minkhoo) — Tough loss to Bowdoin but should be back to their winning ways this week. (nevadajoe) — #14. (Richard) — #12. (thatsmell) — Lost to Bowdoin and played Hamilton close. (The Reason) — Panthers fall back a bit with loss. (valaxfan) — #14 - Disappointing loss to Bowdoin. Should take two before playing Tufts. (Youngred)

Ithaca: #16. Loses a close one to Cabrini, but a good team that can really play. (Big Eyed Fish) — Big win is over Oswego in overtime? (corkscrew) — #13. (D-III) — #21. (goalielax10) — #15. Perhaps easy early schedule hurt this team, which got gutted out by a good Cavalier squad. Might not have happened if they played a little tougher earlier season games. Probably best defensive team in the E8. (idealtin) — #18. Will be jumping into Empire8 play this week, and league play will be no joke this year. (laxdood22) — #10. Needed to win home game against Cabrini. (LaxForNow) — #17. Squeaked by Oswego and lost to a tough Cabrini team. Not consistent yet. (longstick33) — #14. Mixed week for the Bombers. (minkhoo) — #16. (Richard) — #15. (thatsmell) — Loses tough game to a good Cabrini team. (valaxfan) — #16. (Youngred)

Mary Washington: #24. Right on Hampden-Sydney's heels. (Big Eyed Fish) — Salisbury next in big CAC match-up. (corkscrew) — #15. (D-III) — #16. (goalielax10) — #20. Here for now. Curious to see game with the Gulls. (idealtin) — #17. Can they jump up and beat Salisbury on the road? (LaxForNow) — #19. Dominated Wesley this week. (longstick33) — #15. Eagles quietly becoming a factor in the Capital. (minkhoo) — Get Salisbury after their big game vs. Stevenson and might have a chance to catch the Gulls by surprise. (nevadajoe) — #18. (Richard) — #14. Continue steady climb with another solid performance. Heading to SU for a CAC battle with the Gulls. Will need great games on both sides of the ball to have a chance. (thatsmell) — Eagles are playing consistent lacrosse. (valaxfan) — #17. (Youngred)

Gettysburg: #18. Really, really bad week. This is another team getting worse as the season continues. (Big Eyed Fish) — A very bad week in Bulletland. Two losses to unranked teams takes the luster out of the Lynchburg win. Must drop long and hard. (corkscrew) — NR- Pool C hopes are gone. Need to win the Centennial tournament to make the NCAAs. (D-III) — Hang in the top 20 for the moment after two losses. Apply tourniquet now. (Dehuntshigwa'es) — #11. Tough week for Gettysburg. (laxdood22) — #15. (LaxForNow) — #15. A tough week for the Bullets. Two losses and now they are barely over .500. (longstick33) — #17. Two-loss week raise questions for the Bullets. (minkhoo) — Who saw this coming? This young team is showing their inexperience. (nevadajoe) — #23. (Richard) — #21. Thud of the week. After playing a lot of teams close, Widener finally gets a big win at the expense of the Bullets. Four losses puts the Bullets in a must-win situation. (thatsmell) — Two losses in a row. (The Reason) — The Bullets are spiraling downward. (valaxfan) — #25 - Just not that good. (Youngred)

Connecticut College: #15. Winners of three straight has them moving up by default. (Big Eyed Fish) — #18. (D-III) — #14. (goalielax10) — #19. Three easy ones then a softer part of NESCAC schedule. Can the Camels keep it going? (idealtin) — #15. They are sitting atop of the best leagues in all of D3. (laxdood22) — #19. Three straight wins for the Camels. (minkhoo) — #17. (Richard) — #19. Good wins over Trinity and Colby this past week. (thatsmell) — Best in NESCAC. (The Reason) — Two wins vaults Camels upwards. (valaxfan) — #23. (Youngred)

Bowdoin: #14. Winners of five straight and playing better and better. (Big Eyed Fish) — Good win over previously undefeated Middlebury. (corkscrew) — #19. Coming around after early season struggles adjusting to a new coach. A team to watch. (D-III) — #14. Historically slow starting team. Had two big NESCAC wins this past week. (idealtin) — #16. Bowdoin fans already need a refill on heart meds, and we just started April. Hang on. (laxdood22) — #20. Polar Bears show their teeth during weekend road trip. (minkhoo) — #13. (Richard) — #17. Bowdoin poking its head into the muddled NESCAC with a good win over Middlebury. (thatsmell) — Coming alive. Won two this weekend. (The Reason) — #13 - Five in a row after a slow start. Emerging as a challenger to Tufts in the NESCAC perhaps. (Youngred)

Plattsburgh: #19. Really showed me something against Cortland. Small but plays tough. (Big Eyed Fish) — #16. Put up a fight against Cortland for three quarters. Won't be an easy out in the SUNYAC tournament. (D-III) — 8-2 and having a nice season. (Dehuntshigwa'es) — #17. Plattsburgh may have gained a bit of confidence in the 3-goal loss to Cortland. (laxdood22) — #20. (LaxForNow) — #16. A nice win over North Country rival Clarkson and then a gutsy effort against the #1 team that resulted in a 3-goal loss. (longstick33) — #18. Cardinals hung tough with Cortland. (minkhoo) — Stayed in there against Cortland. (nevadajoe) — #15. (Richard) — #18. Gave Cortland a run. But it was not meant to be. Still, it appears a solid team. (thatsmell) — #18. (Youngred)

York: Quietly putting together a very nice season. 9-2 with win over F&M. (corkscrew) — #20. Make an appearance, winning the games they should and the F&M win carries more weight now. (D-III) — #18. (goalielax10) — #18. (LaxForNow) — #16. Spartans are hot and dangerous right now. (minkhoo) — Solid season continues on. (nevadajoe) — #16. Wow, pummeled a feisty CNU team. Spartans appear to be a solid squad. Can't trip against Ursinus this week. Lots of CAC ball to play. (thatsmell) — #21. (Youngred)

Wesleyan: #17. Has some tough games down the stretch. Moves up by default. (Big Eyed Fish) — #17. (D-III) — #21. (laxdood22) — #14. Two unimpressive wins. They should pile up the wins the next few weeks. (longstick33) — NR. If not for a stumble in Maine, Cardinals would be at top of NESCAC. (minkhoo) — #20. (Youngred)

Western New England: #21. Falls out of my top 20 after a bad loss against Springfield. Has a small chance to knock off #1 Cortland Thursday. (Big Eyed Fish) — Loss to Springfield? This team should not be ranked at 4-4. (corkscrew) — #22. (goalielax10) — #16. Springfield game was a surprise. (idealtin) — #23. (laxdood22) — #18. A loss to Springfield was quite surprising. It was their only loss to a non-ranked team, so they hang around with the benefit of the doubt. (longstick33) — #22. (Richard) — #22. (thatsmell) — Awful loss to Springfield. (The Reason)

Union: #22. Really not a great team. They just can't score the ball. (Big Eyed Fish) — Loss to St. Lawrence in a hockey game drops them from top 20. (corkscrew) — #19. (goalielax10) — #21. (Richard)

Widener: #24. (laxdood22) — #14. Did very well against the Centennial, which is probably the toughest conference this year. (LaxForNow) — NR. Pride has played good teams very tough. (minkhoo) — Great win against G'burg as once again their defense gets the job done. (nevadajoe) — #22. (Youngred)

Franklin & Marshall: Nice win over WAC, but they did lose to York. 6-3 is not a bad record at this point. (corkscrew) — #23. (idealtin) — #25. (laxdood22) — #19. (LaxForNow) — Really liked the way they totally handled Washington College. (nevadajoe) — #20. Offensive explosion for the Diplomats. Good win over the Sho'men. Still a chance to make a splash with G'burg and Dickinson left on the schedule. (thatsmell) — #15 - Impressive win vs. an overrated WAC. From 15 down, it's anyone's guess as far as I'm concerned. (Youngred)

St. John Fisher: #20. Has Stevens on the schedule for this week, with a decent chance to steal a win. (Big Eyed Fish) — #17. (goalielax10) — #17. I have a feeling here that the Cardinals have some good brew going on. Stevens upcoming and always a good one. (idealtin) — #20. Came alive in the third quarter for the win. Ten-day layoff may do that to you. (laxdood22) — #19. (Youngred)

St. Lawrence: #25. (goalielax10) — #18. I think the Larries are the second best team in their conference. (idealtin) — #20. A nice win over a down Union team. Just one of a number of teams that could be in this spot. (longstick33) — #19. (Richard)

Roanoke: Win three in a row and quietly finding themselves. Scoring lots of goals now and winning face-offs. Lynchburg on Saturday. (corkscrew) — NR. The next 10 days will tell whether the Maroons can get back to the T20. (minkhoo) — Will they have anything left for their critical ODAC games? (nevadajoe) — NR. (thatsmell)

Hampden-Sydney: #23. Keeps winning; however, Shenandoah score is concerning. (Big Eyed Fish) — #15. (goalielax10) — Only a one-goal win this week against a weaker conference opponent. (nevadajoe) — #24. (Youngred)

Eastern: Will they go 13-2 and get that at-large bid to the tournament? (nevadajoe) — #25. (Richard)

Nazareth: Hammered by RIT. Out of top 20. (corkscrew) — #23. (goalielax10) — #19. You would think hanging 15 would be enough to grab the win. (laxdood22) — NR. (thatsmell)

Clarkson: #20. (Richard)

Centenary: #20. (goalielax10)
