Pollsters' Comments About Teams They Ranked

Cortland: #1: No reason to drop. (AO) — #1. (Big Eyed Fish) — #1. Will enter the NCAAs undefeated for the second consecutive year. Have to wonder about the schedule; they have not faced a ranked opponent since March. (D-III) — 13-0 with 3OT games. (Dehuntshigwa'es) — Still chugging along. (Doxology) — #1. (goalielax10) — #1. Moving right along. Too bad game with Nazareth was postponed. (idealtin) — #1. (laxdood22) — #1. (LaxForNow) — #1. Keep winning. Won't be challenged until the SUNYAC final at the earliest. (longstick33) — #1. (minkhoo) — Class of the North and gathering momentum for May. (nevadajoe) — #1. (Richard) — #1. Getting into the snooze portion of the schedule. Is that game against Nazareth going to happen? (thatsmell) — #1. No one can beat them, so they stay at the top. (valaxfan) — #1. (Youngred)

Dickinson: #2. (Big Eyed Fish) — #2. Seem to be rounding back into form after a mid-season lull. This is a complete team with a strong chance of making it to Philly, especially with home field advantage. (D-III) — FOUR one-goal games. Best from the South! Hanley and company doing what's needed to win. This could be the team to beat in May! (Dehuntshigwa'es) — Also still moving along at a good clip. (Doxology) — #2. (goalielax10) — #2. Still unblemished. Best of the South right now. (idealtin) — #3. (laxdood22) — #2. (LaxForNow) — #2. Keep winning. (longstick33) — #2. (minkhoo) — Cannot overlook the games this week before the conference tournament begins. (nevadajoe) — #2. (Richard) — #2. Whacked WAC. Can a 13-0 team actually GAIN momentum? It appears so. (thatsmell) — #2. (valaxfan) — #2. (Youngred)

RIT: #3. (Big Eyed Fish) — Seven straight wins and big game with Larries next. (corkscrew) — #4. The second of the 2 losses by 2 goals group. Seem to be an unstoppable force, but the Liberty League is down. St. Lawrence defense should be a good test for the Canadians. (D-III) — 13-2 having a very good season. (Dehuntshigwa'es) — #3. (goalielax10) — #3. Two losses, both in OT. Tigers are getting ready for a big run. (idealtin) — #2. (laxdood22) — #3. (LaxForNow) — #3. Clearly the 2nd best team in the North. The game with SLU could be interesting. (longstick33) — #3. (minkhoo) — The biggest threat to knocking off Cortland in the North region. (nevadajoe) — #3. (Richard) — #4. The NCAA tournament could be the "RIT Redemption Tour." Look out, Cortland and Stevie U! The Larries are up next. (thatsmell) — #3. Looking strong. (valaxfan) — #3. (Youngred)

Stevenson: #4. (Big Eyed Fish) — #3. Have the best wins of the 2 losses by 2 goal group of teams. Finally challenged in a conference game. (D-III) — Two losses by one goal in each. Legit top 4 team. (Dehuntshigwa'es) — #4. (goalielax10) — #4. Tuning up for their NCAA run also. (idealtin) — #4. (laxdood22) — #4. (LaxForNow) — #4. Handled business at Widener. (longstick33) — #4. (minkhoo) — Tough win against a determined Widener squad. Should see them again in the conference finals. (nevadajoe) — #4. (Richard) — #3. Played one of the toughest schedules around, with pretty good results. All that's left is punching their ticket by winning the MAC tournament. (thatsmell) — #4. (valaxfan) — #4. (Youngred)

Cabrini: #5. (Big Eyed Fish) — Moving up by default as others lose. (corkscrew) — #12. It's too bad that the CSAC has not improved at all. (D-III) — Moving up because others have lost. Only three losses. (Dehuntshigwa'es) — Quietly building a great year. (Doxology) — #5. (goalielax10) — #5. Too bad the Cavaliers are in such a weak conference; however, they do play a good out-of-conference schedule. Will they be ready come tourney time? (idealtin) — #5. (laxdood22) — #5. (LaxForNow) — #6. Keep rolling through the CSAC schedule. (longstick33) — #5. (minkhoo) — Just wondering what their seed will be for the NCAA tourney. (nevadajoe) — #5. (Richard) — #6. (thatsmell) — #5. (valaxfan) — #5. (Youngred)

Roanoke: #7. (Big Eyed Fish) — Undefeated in ODAC at 9-0 and 10 straight wins heading into ODAC tournament. Has beaten three teams ranked in top 10 in past two weeks and is the only southern team to beat Stevenson. (corkscrew) — #7. Maroons continue their impressive turnaround and secure the all important home field advantage in the ODAC. Lachlan is probably the best finisher in the nation. This team is not unbeatable though and needs to take care of business and get the AQ, as Pool C is not a lock. (D-III) — You would think the pounding they took by Dickinson and Salisbury never happened. Squeak by Lynchburg, Stevenson, Hampden-Sydney, and W&L. Credit Pilat, but the ball is bound to bounce the wrong way. (Dehuntshigwa'es) — Look out for these guys; they are really heating up. (Doxology) — #6. (goalielax10) — #7. The Maroons seem to have it all figured out, and it's at the right time also. (idealtin) — #14. (laxdood22) — #8. (LaxForNow) — #7. The Maroons have really turned their season around. I don't think anyone wants to play them right now. One of the hottest teams in the country. (longstick33) — #7. (minkhoo) — Seem to be playing better than the other ODAC contenders. (nevadajoe) — #7. (Richard) — #7. Left for dead and now ODAC favorite. How April can change things! Won 10 in a row including 3 against (then) top 10 teams. (thatsmell) — Noke train on a roll. Biggest mover of the poll. (valaxfan) — #7. (Youngred)

Middlebury: #6. (Big Eyed Fish) — #5. Like Stevenson and RIT, and Stevenson, the Panthers have lost 2 games by 2 goals but aren't receiving the fanfare of the other two. Unheralded offense is in a groove, averaging 13.5 goals a game in April. This is a team to watch. Still need to keep winning as Pool C is not a lock. (D-III) — Only two losses, so move up while others in the top 10 space continue to trip themselves up. (Dehuntshigwa'es) — #11. (goalielax10) — #6. The Panthers seem to be the best of the NESCAC. Conference playoffs are always difficult. (idealtin) — #7. (laxdood22) — #10. (LaxForNow) — #5. The top team in the NESCAC. (longstick33) — #8. (minkhoo) — Playing very well at the right time of the season. (nevadajoe) — #6. (Richard) — #5. Did Midd ever leave? The Pathers appear to be back - and quite opportunistic. (thatsmell) — Panthers move up. (valaxfan) — #6. (Youngred)

Tufts: #11. (Big Eyed Fish) — 4th loss to an unranked team. They may be real good, but they do not have the resume of a top 15 team. (corkscrew) — #6. Offense completely shut down by Wesleyan over most of the game. Something is definitely amiss in Medford. No inside game, and the transition has stalled. Still, a two-loss team in my book with wins over Stevenson, Middlebury, WNE, and Stevens. (D-III) — Wesleyan and Endicott losses move them down 4 spots. (Dehuntshigwa'es) — Tough loss. (Doxology) — #10. (goalielax10) — #14. More than likely need to win the NESCAC to get an invite to the NCAA tourney. Could not figure out Cardinal zone and got their 4th loss. (idealtin) — #8. (laxdood22) — #6. (LaxForNow) — #15. Still a ton of question marks on defense. They most likely let any chance of a Pool C slip away with their loss to Wesleyan. (longstick33) — #9. (minkhoo) — Looking for some momentum to carry them through the NESCAC tournament. (nevadajoe) — #9. (Richard) — #10. If the loss to Endicott made their NCAA position tenuous, the loss to Wesleyan puts their backs squarely against the wall. Can't afford any more slip-ups. (thatsmell) — Loses and falls. (valaxfan) — #13 - I drank the Kool-Aid, but the Jumbos have to be held accountable. (Youngred)

Salisbury: #9. (Big Eyed Fish) — Loss to Washington looks worse since Washington gets blown out by Gettysburg. (corkscrew) — #10. We are auto-programed to state over and over that Berkman's teams always get better and this one will too. But let's face it, it has not happened in '13. Every time the Gulls face a high level defense, their offense goes down with a thud. Luckily for the Gulls, the CAC presents no challenge. (D-III) — Four losses, the latest to WAC. (Dehuntshigwa'es) — #14. (goalielax10) — #9. More on reputation here than level of play. Still would not want to meet them due to superior level of coaching. Player level not as good as previous Gull teams. (idealtin) — #12. (laxdood22) — #7. (LaxForNow) — #9. Lost War on the Shore for the first time in 11 years. Still going to be a force in the postseason. (longstick33) — #13. (minkhoo) — Won it all in 2011 with three losses, but it will take some doing for the three-peat this year. Need to be really on their game in the CAC tournament, as there are a lot of hungry teams wanting that AQ. (nevadajoe) — #12. (Richard) — #12. Ugly game as the Sho'men hand SU their first WOTS loss in over a decade. Not overly impressed with the Gulls on either side of the ball. Gone missing with the big SU offense is the SU swagger. (thatsmell) — Loses and falls. (valaxfan) — #9. (Youngred)

Washington & Lee: #17. (Big Eyed Fish) — Loss to Roanoke drops Generals below Roanoke in ODAC and national rankings. (corkscrew) — #8. Impressive on the road against Roanoke. Need to stay focused against a rising HSC squad. Generals stout defense makes them very consistent, so I expect a close win. (D-III) — 11-3 with one-goal losses to Lynchburg and now Roanoke. Need to finish teams off with a lead in the 4th. (Dehuntshigwa'es) — Quickly coming back to earth/running out of gas. (Doxology) — #7. (goalielax10) — #13. Generals lost a tough one to Roanoke. Good news was that defense held the Maroons to single digits. (idealtin) — #13. (laxdood22) — #9. (LaxForNow) — #12. A loss to Roanoke is nothing to be ashamed of at this point. There is a good chance they'll meet again in the ODAC tourney. (longstick33) — #14. (minkhoo) — Will they see Roanoke again in the ODAC finals? (nevadajoe) — #8. (Richard) — #8. Loss to Noke stings, but this team is firmly in the hunt for the ODAC. Nothing flashy, but a solid team. Like their chances down the stretch. (thatsmell) — Generals lose and drop into bottom 10. (valaxfan) — #8 - From #8 down, I am just trying to make an educated guess. (Youngred)

Washington College: #14. (Big Eyed Fish) — Blasted by Gettysburg after finally beating Sea Gulls. Must drop after getting hammered in big conference game. (corkscrew) — #9. Up and down, finally take out the Gulls after many years but then have a huge letdown at Gettysburg. Understandable, but need to take care of business, especially in conference. (D-III) — Just when you think Shirk has them back, a bad loss to the Bullets. (Dehuntshigwa'es) — The margin against the Bullets makes one scratch their heads. (Doxology) — #8. (goalielax10) — #8. Stumbling a little coming to the finish line. Tough conference games will do that to you. (idealtin) — #11. (laxdood22) — #13. (LaxForNow) — #8. A huge win at War on the Shore and then laid an egg against Gettysburg. (longstick33) — #10. (minkhoo) — Great win in the War and then a humiliating defeat in the conference. They need to re-group and get back to playing like they did against the Gulls. (nevadajoe) — #10. (Richard) — #9. Great win over the Gulls and then the Sho'men forgot they had another game against Gettysburg the following Saturday. (thatsmell) — Get's WAC'd by G-burg. (valaxfan) — #10 - Tough to place this team. I think G'burg was a massive let-down after the WOTS. (Youngred)

Denison: #8. (Big Eyed Fish) — Beat Kenyon and OWU by 3, so they are best in Ohio right now. No big wins on a weak schedule. (corkscrew) — #14. Not sold on this team, but the Big Red have shown the last few years in May that they are an elite team. And wins over Haverford, St. Mary's, and OWU are pretty decent. (D-III) — Weak schedule and are questionable at this spot. (Dehuntshigwa'es) — #16. (goalielax10) — #10. (idealtin) — #6. (laxdood22) — #16. (LaxForNow) — #10. They were impressive in their win over a good OWU team on Wednesday night. Not one top-20 win on their resume. (longstick33) — #15. (minkhoo) — Will be the AQ from the NCAC. (nevadajoe) — #18. (Richard) — #13. (thatsmell) — Wins BIG game against OWU and conference championship. (valaxfan) — #19. (Youngred)

Stevens: #18. (Big Eyed Fish) — Demolished by Nazareth and no real wins. Exposed as not a top 10 team. (corkscrew) — #19. Wow, exposed by Nazareth. Can't believe how far I have dropped them, but as I moved them down the line it became apparent their best win this year is against SJF. The defense is a sieve. Better win the E8, as Pool C is by no means a lock. (D-III) — Blowout to Nazareth puts them on sell list. (Dehuntshigwa'es) — Tough loss. (Doxology) — #12. (goalielax10) — #17. Biggest drop for me. Very good team, but Ducks just have weaknesses that were exposed by Naz. (idealtin) — #9. (laxdood22) — #12. (LaxForNow) — #11. Not sure what happened in Rochester on Saturday. The Ducks were embarrassed and lost their hold on home field advantage for the E8 tourney. (longstick33) — #6. (minkhoo) — Big stumble against Nazareth and a tough regular season closer with Ithaca coming up this week. (nevadajoe) — #17. (Richard) — #11. (thatsmell) — #17- No quality wins on this resume. (Youngred)

Lynchburg: #13. (Big Eyed Fish) — Manhandled at home vs. a surging Hampden-Sydney team. (corkscrew) — #11. After a strong start, the rest of the country has caught up to the Hornets. A common theme unfortunately. They are fading and Pool C is not a lock. Need to make the ODAC finals to feel comfortable. (D-III) — 12-8 loss to HSC gives them four losses with season hanging by a thread. (Dehuntshigwa'es) — #9. (goalielax10) — #10. (laxdood22) — #11. (LaxForNow) — #13. Upset by Hampden-Sydney. Need to right the ship. (longstick33) — #12. (minkhoo) — A surprise loss, but give credit to Hampden-Sydney for an excellent effort. (nevadajoe) — #11. (Richard) — #16. Been reeling in big games since the Stevenson loss. (thatsmell) — Hornets lose to Tigers and fall. (valaxfan) — #15. (Youngred)

Connecticut College: #10. (Big Eyed Fish) — #17. Skate through two tight NESCAC games setting up a showdown with Wesleyan, where the loser's Pool C hopes will disappear. Likely final score will be 1-0. (D-III) — Playing well enough to stay in top 20. (Dehuntshigwa'es) — #13. (goalielax10) — #11. Team is winning in large part to stellar goalie play. That is a good thing to have, but offense seems stagnant. (idealtin) — #15. (laxdood22) — #22. (LaxForNow) — #18. Currently the #2 team in the NESCAC with a huge game with Wesleyan looming. (longstick33) — Will be a contender for the NESCAC AQ. (nevadajoe) — #15. (Richard) — #21. Solid, but not great team right now. Need to fix a few things before conference playoffs. (thatsmell) — #12. (Youngred)

Wesleyan: #12. (Big Eyed Fish) — #18. Dominated Tufts for most of the game. Four goals from being undefeated. Raba should be ashamed for putting together such an embarrassing out-of-conference schedule. We'll likely never know just how good this team is/was unless they win the NESCAC AQ. (D-III) — #21. (goalielax10) — #12. Another very good defensive NESCAC team. (idealtin) — #19. (laxdood22) — #20. (LaxForNow) — #14. A huge win over Tufts. Such an inconsistent team though. Big wins and big letdowns. (longstick33) — #11. (minkhoo) — Seem to be peaking at the right time, but it will be a major upset if they take the conference AQ. (nevadajoe) — #22. (Richard) — #15. (thatsmell) — Big win, moves up. (valaxfan) — #11. (Youngred)

St. Lawrence: #15. (Big Eyed Fish) — Quiet winners of 8 straight and now RIT is next. (corkscrew) — #13. Mahoney has done an excellent job with this group after a rough stretch in March. RIT game will be a great marker. The Larries play excellent 6v6 D. Unfortunately for them, you can find good looks in transition, something that RIT thrives on. (D-III) — #18. (goalielax10) — #16. Have now won eight in a row after three consecutive losses. Do not think they pose much of a threat to RIT, but hey, you never know. (idealtin) — #20. (laxdood22) — #21. (LaxForNow) — #16. Winners of 8 in a row. A big game with RIT next Saturday to decide the top seed in the Liberty League tournament. (longstick33) — #16. (minkhoo) — Have on eight in a row. (nevadajoe) — #13. (Richard) — #18. Get to prove their worth this Sat. against RIT. (thatsmell) — #14. (Youngred)

Nazareth: #20. (Big Eyed Fish) — Good manhandling of overrated Stevens Tech team. (corkscrew) — #15. Inconsistent early in the season, hit rock bottom against RIT, but finally have hit their stride. Have a strong hold on the E8 and are a team to watch as May approaches. (D-III) — #15. (goalielax10) — #15. Smacked a good #6 Stevens squad, beat #14 Ithaca, beat #16 St. Lawrence, and all regionally ranked. Just maybe they should get a little love here. Has the offense to put up big numbers. Can't sleep on Fisher on Wednesday. (idealtin) — #16. (laxdood22) — #23. (LaxForNow) — #20. Undefeated in E8 games. The Roanoke of the North? (longstick33) — #18. (minkhoo) — Great win over Stevens. Will they keep up their winning ways this week? (nevadajoe) — #16. (Richard) — #17. So we know Nazareth can score goals. Good to see them play some defense in the win over Stevens. Is that Cortland game going to happen? Mixed results this season, but one of the harder schedules I've seen. (thatsmell) — #16. (Youngred)

Plattsburgh: #21. (Big Eyed Fish) — #16. Enjoying their best season ever, taking care of business in conference, but need to be very careful of Geneseo. Can't afford to lose again until the SUNYAC championship game. (D-III) — 11-3 with schedule issues but are winning. (Dehuntshigwa'es) — #18. Still not fully sold on this team. Won close games over decent teams. Reality of it is that is what it's all about, winning the 1-goal games. (idealtin) — #17. (laxdood22) — #18. (LaxForNow) — #17. A sluggish effort over Brockport after 10 days off. A big week ahead with match-ups against the #3 and #4 teams in the SUNYAC left on the schedule. (longstick33) — #24. (minkhoo) — Have hung around the Top 20 all year but will might need to take the conference title to make it to the dance. (nevadajoe) — #14. (Richard) — #20. (thatsmell) — #23. (Youngred)

Gettysburg: #16. (Big Eyed Fish) — Back in the top 20 with big conference blasting of Washington. (corkscrew) — Bullets still relevant in Centennial. (Doxology) — #24. Good team but not consistent enough for a top 20 team. (idealtin) — #15. (LaxForNow) — #17. (minkhoo) — The best 5-loss team in the country and a threat to surprise in the Centennial playoffs. (nevadajoe) — #25. (Richard) — Gets WAC and moves up. (valaxfan) — #18 - Looked like a different team against WAC. (Youngred)

Hampden-Sydney: Good win on the road, putting a hurting on over-hyped Lynchburg team, moves Tigers up in ODAC and in top 20. (corkscrew) — 11-4 with nice win over Lynchburg gets them into top 20. (Dehuntshigwa'es) — #19. (goalielax10) — Great win over Lynchburg, which sets them up for the ODAC tourney. (nevadajoe) — #24. (Richard) — #19. Loss to Va. Wes. had me concerned, but a one-goal loss to Noke and a solid win over Lynchburg tells me the young Tigers may have learned a few things and be peaking at the right time. Get W&L this week to prove their worth. (thatsmell) — Tigers are playing great lacrosse. (valaxfan) — #22. (Youngred)

York: #22. (Big Eyed Fish) — Big win over St. Mary's puts york back in top 20. (corkscrew) — #20. Ranked, but barely. A lot of other teams were considered for this spot including Ithaca, Gettysburg, Haverford, F&M, Bowdoin, Hampden-Sydney, Albright, Clarkson, Western New England, and Endicott. (D-III) — 13-3 solid season. (Dehuntshigwa'es) — #20. (goalielax10) — #19. Spartans have put together a great year. (idealtin) — #17. (LaxForNow) — #20. (minkhoo) — Look to be on their game for the CAC tournament. (nevadajoe) — #14. Dispatch St. Mary's on the road to earn the #2 seed in the CAC. Coach Childs has the Spartans on track and poised for their greatest season in program history. Rematch with Salisbury in the CACs looming. (thatsmell) — #20. (Youngred)

Ithaca: #23. (goalielax10) — #20. Big game next weekend vs. Stevens for seeding in the E8s. Classic battle in Hoboken. (idealtin) — #14. (LaxForNow) — #19. (minkhoo) — If they can take Stevens this week, they leap up into the Top 20. (nevadajoe) — #23. Appear to be a decent team, but no quality wins. (thatsmell) — #24. (Youngred)

Franklin & Marshall: #19. (Big Eyed Fish) — Loss to Haverford exposes the offense-less Dips. (corkscrew) — #22. (goalielax10) — #22. Win a big one, lose a big one? (idealtin) — #22. (minkhoo) — #19. (Richard) — #22. Solid, but not great team right now. Still capable of making a run. Need to fix a few things before playoffs. (thatsmell) — #21. (Youngred)

Endicott: #24. (Big Eyed Fish) — #17. (goalielax10)

Widener: #19. (LaxForNow)

Bowdoin: #23. (Big Eyed Fish) — #18. (laxdood22) — This week's game will go a long way in determining the seeding for the conference tournament. (nevadajoe) — #21. (Richard)

Eastern: #19. Keep winning. Top Pool B team? (longstick33) — #25. (minkhoo) — Like the way they have handled the season and hope they do well in the NCAA tournament. (nevadajoe) — #23. (Richard) — #25. (thatsmell)

Keene State: #20. (Richard)

Other Teams Pollsters Considered (and comments, if any)

. Carthage: #25. Not really top 25 caliber, but at least they're winning. Only two losses are to tournament teams from last year. (Big Eyed Fish)

. Albright: 10-2 with big win over Widener. (corkscrew) — #24. (goalielax10) — #24. Nice win over Widener. (thatsmell)

. Bates:

. St. John Fisher: #25. (goalielax10) — #21. Still winning, preparing for E8s. (idealtin) — #25. (Youngred)

. Haverford: #23. Best D3 team with the worst record. (idealtin)

. Connecticut College : #21. (minkhoo)

. Keene St. : #23. (minkhoo)
