Pollsters' Comments About Teams They Ranked

Cortland: #1. (Big Eyed Fish) — Great season. Undefeated, not easy to do. (corkscrew) — #1. Some prognostications: Cortland 12, OWU 6; Cortland 12, Nazareth 9; Tufts 11, Cortland 10. (D-III) — Headed for the big dance. Weak schedule may hurt them in the tournament. Still going 16-0 in anything is impressive. (Dehuntshigwa'es) — Will they be able to continue their run? Good as they are, I have a few doubts. Defense is stellar, offense gets it done, but not by as much. However, as they say, defense wins games. (idealtin) — #1. (LaxForNow) — #1. Still undefeated and my pick to win it all. (longstick33) — #2. Dragons get 1B for defeating three other conference champs during the year. (minkhoo) — I think the only team that can derail Dickinson. (nevadajoe) — #1. Undefeated going into the tournament. More offense needs to be generated. (Richard) — The road to the Final Four is an easy one! (The Reason) — #1 Expect to see them in the title game. (valaxfan) — #1. (Youngred)

Dickinson: #2. (Big Eyed Fish) — Great season. Undefeated, not easy to do. (corkscrew) — #2. Dickinson 15, Aurora 5; Dickinson 7, Salisbury 6; Dickinson 9, Stevenson 8; Tufts 14, Dickinson 13. (D-III) — At the beginning of the year my dark horse candidate to win it all. Played in the toughest conference in the country, battle tested. Very balanced overall; best defense in the country. (Dehuntshigwa'es) — Seem to be the best of the South, (and maybe North). Crushing all takers can they keep it up till Memorial Day? (idealtin) — #2. (LaxForNow) — #2. Still undefeated. A complete team that has what it takes to be playing Memorial Day Weekend. (longstick33) — #1. I decided that the Devils deserved 1A status for their strong season, which include the defeat of four other conference champions. (minkhoo) — If they can perform the way they did against F&M, they will be the national champs. (nevadajoe) — #2. Expectations met so far. Well rounded team. (Richard) — Your road is a little tougher than Cortland's! (The Reason) — #2 Can anyone in the South beat them? (valaxfan) — #2. (Youngred)

RIT: #3. (Big Eyed Fish) — #4. Cabrini 10, RIT 9 (OT). (D-III) — Finish 16-2, beware Dragons. (Dehuntshigwa'es) — Stumbled a little in LL playoffs. Still got the Ws but by margins that were closer than expected. (idealtin) — #3. (LaxForNow) — #3. Two close calls in a week's time. Due for a loss? (longstick33) — #3. Liberty champ Tigers just two OT losses to strong teams. (minkhoo) — Playing well and should have success early in the tournament. (nevadajoe) — #3. Not playing very well as of late. Need to refocus. (Richard) — Cabrini could give you a game? Not if you have your scoring shoes on. (The Reason) — #3 Should challenge for the northern title. (valaxfan) — #3. (Youngred)

Stevenson: #4. (Big Eyed Fish) — #3. Stevenson 20, CNU 4; Stevenson 12, WAC 7; Stevenson 11, Roanoke 8; Dickinson 9, Stevenson 8. (D-III) — Great season. How far can they go in the tournament? (Dehuntshigwa'es) — Widener played them tough. Stangs have to tune it up a notch to play May lax. (idealtin) — #5. (LaxForNow) — #4. Cruised through the MAC Commonwealth. Hopefully the soft conference schedule doesn't leave them unprepared for the NCAAs. (longstick33) — #4. MACC champ Mustangs also just two 1-goal losses to strong teams. (minkhoo) — They seem to squeak out the close games and might be able to go far in the tournament. (nevadajoe) — #4. Soft conference games might be hurting this team. Widener is decent, but Steve seemed to lose its cool in their tight game. Not good heading into the tournament. (Richard) — Can you beat Dickinson? (The Reason) — #4 Wins by the narrowest of hairs. (valaxfan) — #4. (Youngred)

Roanoke: #6. (Big Eyed Fish) — Everyone counted the Maroons out after they lost to Dickinson and Salisbury in March. Pilat and company did an incredible job turning things around and were able to go 11-0 in ODAC games to win the conference. (corkscrew) — #6. Roanoke 19, Centre 6; Roanoke 12, St. Mary's 11; Stevenson 11, Roanoke 8. (D-III) — Might have the highest number of 1-goal wins by a ranked team. After crushing losses to Dickinson and Salisbury, Pilat righted the ship. (Dehuntshigwa'es) — Maroons are hottest team right now. I think it is between them and the Red Devils in the South. (idealtin) — #7. (LaxForNow) — #5. After a slow start, they went through the tough ODAC without a loss and picked up a win over Stevenson along the way. (longstick33) — #6. ODAC champ Maroons found themselves after a slow start to the season. Now on a 12-game winning streak. (minkhoo) — Can't look ahead to another rematch with Lynchburg. (nevadajoe) — #7. Youth has played very well for Noke. (Richard) — Playing good when it counts! (The Reason) — Top seed in the South. (valaxfan) — #6. (Youngred)

Tufts: #7. (Big Eyed Fish) — Came on strong to win the NESCAC once again. (corkscrew) — #5. Tufts 20, Norwich 2; Tufts 13, Stevens 9; Tufts 14, Cabrini 11; Tufts 11, Cortland 10; Tufts 14, Dickinson 13. (D-III) — Jumbos have an opportunity to prove they are an elite team and move past their early season woes. (Dehuntshigwa'es) — Not the Tufts team of prior years, but still very good. (idealtin) — #4. (LaxForNow) — #6. A team with a lot of flaws but when they put it all together, they are as good as anyone. (longstick33) — #7. NESCAC champ Jumbos sure made it interesting. (minkhoo) — Should breeze through the first round and go far in the North region. (nevadajoe) — #6. Offense is playing very well. (Richard) — Playing like this at this time of the year is so important! (The Reason) — Turning it on at the right time. (valaxfan) — #7. (Youngred)

Cabrini: #5. (Big Eyed Fish) — How good is Cabrini? We will find out in the next few weeks as we have no idea after the last few. (corkscrew) — #13. Cabrini 14, Springfield 8; Cabrini 10, RIT 9 (OT); Tufts 14, Cabrini 11. (D-III) — 13-3. Excellent offense; if their D steps up, could be dangerous in the tournament. (Dehuntshigwa'es) — Cavaliers are set to run and gun. Great season! Took on all takers and won most of them. (idealtin) — #6. (LaxForNow) — #7. Very much like Stevenson in that they are a good team in a terrible conference. They haven't played a ranked team in over a month. (longstick33) — #5. CSAC champion Cavaliers kind of forgotten as they haven't played an elite team in a month. (minkhoo) — Tough opening round match in the tournament. (nevadajoe) — #5. Watch out for Springfield. (Richard) — Haven't played any comp. since March. RIT will give you some. (The Reason) — #5. (valaxfan) — #5. (Youngred)

Washington & Lee: #12. (Big Eyed Fish) — Oh, so close to an ODAC championship, but a good season for the Generals. (corkscrew) — #7. W&L 10, Sewanee 6; Salisbury 7, W&L 4. (D-III) — Nice season finishing 15-4. (Dehuntshigwa'es) — Generals had a nice season, should make some noise in the tourney. (idealtin) — #8. (LaxForNow) — #8. ODAC runners-up. (longstick33) — #10. Generals rode defense to a Pool C bid. (minkhoo) — Dangerous team to contend with in the tournament. (nevadajoe) — #8. Good team. (Richard) — One and done. (The Reason) — Generals need to take Sewanee seriously, keep playing great defense. (valaxfan) — #8. (Youngred)

Middlebury: #11. (Big Eyed Fish) — Couldn't get the one more win they needed to get to the NCAAs. Best team left out of the tourney in 2013. (corkscrew) — #8. (D-III) — 13-3. Out-of-conference scheduling hurt their chances for a tournament bid. (Dehuntshigwa'es) — Panthers had the pieces of the puzzle, got knocked out too early for anyone to see. (idealtin) — #10. (LaxForNow) — #12. Three losses by 3 total goals. Just a play or two away from being NESCAC champs. (longstick33) — #11. Panthers hold unenviable title of best team not in the NCAA. You can blame the criteria, but there should be a slot here. The NCAA has shortchanged D3 tourney; there should be 2-3 more berths. (minkhoo) — Probably looking back to those three 1-goal losses earlier in the season and wishing they could have won just one of them. (nevadajoe) — #9. Out. Tough luck. (Richard) — NESCAC was down this year. Had to make it to the finals of the tournament. (The Reason) — Gets dethroned from NCAAs. You can thank SSU for that one. (valaxfan) — #11. (Youngred)

Nazareth: #8. (Big Eyed Fish) — Came together at right time to win the E8 conference. (corkscrew) — #10. Nazareth 14, Castleton 7; Nazareth 10, WNE 9; Cortland 12, Nazareth 9. (D-III) — 14-4. Got better throughout the year. (Dehuntshigwa'es) — On a sweet run. Defense has picked up their game, offense has always been there. Great season, more work to be done. (idealtin) — #12. (LaxForNow) — #9. I under-rated these guys all year. I guess I couldn't look past the loss to Geneseo. Their offense is impressive, and if their D can play up they could make a run in the North. (longstick33) — #8. E8 champ Flyers started slowly but have won 8 straight. (minkhoo) — Gritty win over Ithaca to win the AQ. (nevadajoe) — #10. Up and coming team needs to watch out for unknown Castleton. (Richard) — Another chance against Western New England. (The Reason) — Have had a very good year. (valaxfan) — #10. (Youngred)

Salisbury: #9. (Big Eyed Fish) — Suprising loss in May continues the up and down season of the Sea Gulls. How will they rebound for NCAAs? This is uncharted territory for them. (corkscrew) — #12. Salisbury 17, Susquehanna 1; Salisbury 7, W&L 4; Dickinson 7 Salisbury 6. (D-III) — It's that time of year. The Gulls will be a factor before this tournament is over despite the loss to St. Mary's. Best coach in D-III. (Dehuntshigwa'es) — When was the last time you saw the Gulls ranked this low so late in the season? (idealtin) — #9. (LaxForNow) — #11. This is a team I thought was a lock to win their conference and then got upset. One of the harder teams to figure out this year. Just when you think they are clicking they go and lose. (longstick33) — #9. Gulls sometimes looked like the Gulls of old but sometimes looked like they had some bad seafood. (minkhoo) — Can they put together a solid run in the tournament? (nevadajoe) — #17. This is probably too high for this team. I've never seen a Salisbury team with so many problems. (Richard) — Another shot at W/L. (The Reason) — Loses and drops. (valaxfan) — #9. (Youngred)

Washington College: #14. (Big Eyed Fish) — #9. WAC 9, Colorado College 7; Stevenson 12, WAC 7. (D-III) — 4-4 in their last 8 games. As goes Cord, so goes WAC. (Dehuntshigwa'es) — Stumbled towards the end of the season. (idealtin) — #13. (LaxForNow) — #10. Four losses all to conference opponents. The Gettysburg loss was huge for them. (longstick33) — #13. Shoreman started strong but finished 4-4 over the end of the season. (minkhoo) — Have to watch out in the first round in order to have some success in the tournament. (nevadajoe) — #11. (Richard) — One and done! (The Reason) — #12. (Youngred)

Lynchburg: #10. (Big Eyed Fish) — #11. St. Mary's 13, Lynchburg 12. (D-III) — Dangerous team, finish at 12-5. (Dehuntshigwa'es) — All losses except Hampden-Sydney by one goal. Gotta win those 1-goal games. (idealtin) — #11. (LaxForNow) — #13. Three losses in the last month of the season. Not a great way to head into the tourney. (longstick33) — #12. Hornets are very good, get a Pool C bid, but haven't beaten a really elite team since March. (minkhoo) — Playing well and looking for some great performances from their seniors in the tournament. (nevadajoe) — #13. At home vs. St. Mary's; we all should be so lucky. (Richard) — Might not win one. (The Reason) — Hornets make NCAA on strength of schedule. (valaxfan) — #15. (Youngred)

Stevens: #15. (Big Eyed Fish) — Barely make NCAAs and another team that needs to look at their out of conference schedule for the future. (corkscrew) — #20. Stevens 11, Montclair St. 10 (OT); Tufts 13, Stevens 9. (D-III) — If the Ducks had a F/O player they would have won a couple more games. It's a big piece missing from this team. (idealtin) — #14. (LaxForNow) — #15. Two losses down the stretch. The wheels really fell off for the Ducks. They need to figure it out if they want to make a run. (longstick33) — #15. Ducks swamped early in E8 tourney but get a Pool C bid. (minkhoo) — Hoping to overcome the disappointing loss in the conference finals and put together a run in the tournament. (nevadajoe) — #12. Needs to play defense. (Richard) — What team will show up? (The Reason) — #17. (Youngred)

Wesleyan: #18. (Big Eyed Fish) — A season of what-ifs starting with an out of conference schedule that needs improvement. (corkscrew) — #14. (D-III) — #14. Lots of ups and downs this year. Never really got a good feel for who the Cardinals were. (longstick33) — #16. Cardinals hurt by weak out-of-conference schedule but can take credit for keeping Midd out of the tourney. (minkhoo) — Disappointing end to the season. (nevadajoe) — #15. Schedule, schedule, schedule. (Richard) — Have to play a tougher out of league schedule. Should have had a chance in the NCAAs. (The Reason) — #16. (Youngred)

Connecticut College: #13. (Big Eyed Fish) — #18. (D-III) — Methodical level of play could not keep up with the Jumbos. (idealtin) — #17. Solid season for the Camels. Have a solid goalie to build on for the next few years. (longstick33) — #14. Camels probably one win from the tourney. (minkhoo) — Valiant effort in the NESCAC final. (nevadajoe) — #16. Nice record for the year. Plattsburgh loss probably killed them. (Richard) — #13. (Youngred)

Plattsburgh: #20. (Big Eyed Fish) — #17. (D-III) — Nice to see the improvement in the program going 14-4. (Dehuntshigwa'es) — Cardinals had an excellent year. Better scheduling will mean more opportunity in the future. (idealtin) — #15. (LaxForNow) — #16. A great season for the Cardinals. Four losses on the year, and two of those were to the #1 team in the country. (longstick33) — #18. Cardinals take a run at Cortland but fall a little short. (minkhoo) — #14. Great season. (Richard) — #18. (Youngred)

St. Mary's: #19. (Big Eyed Fish) — Not many teams can say they have beaten Salisbury in May. (corkscrew) — #15. St. Mary's 13, Lynchburg 12; Roanoke 12, St. Mary's 11. (D-III) — Nice win to cap off the season and punch their ticket to the tournament. (Dehuntshigwa'es) — Up and down year. (idealtin) — #19. (LaxForNow) — #18. Stole a bid with a huge upset over Salisbury. (longstick33) — #19. Seahawks recover from some early struggles to take the CAC. (minkhoo) — Nice end to the regular season with a win over the Gulls to gain their first trip to the NCAA tournament. (nevadajoe) — #20. Win CAC and are rewarded with an away game while Salisbury gets a home game. Just plain wrong. (Richard) — #19. (Youngred)

St. Lawrence: #22. (Big Eyed Fish) — Loss to Clarkson dooms the Larries at the end. (corkscrew) — #16. (D-III) — Larries couldn't get over the Tiger hump. (idealtin) — #19. Being upset by Clarkson is baffling. A good team that choked when it mattered. (longstick33) — #17. Saints have a solid season but not quite strong enough for tourney. (minkhoo) — #18. SLU should have known Clarkson would come in ready to play. Expectations were not met for the season. (Richard) — #14. (Youngred)

Ohio Wesleyan: #21. (Big Eyed Fish) — Great win over Denison to snatch the NCAA ticket from the Big Red. (corkscrew) — #17. (LaxForNow) — #20. Bishops win when they had to and take the NCAC. (minkhoo) — Great job winning the conference title. (nevadajoe)

Denison: #17. (Big Eyed Fish) — Welcome to Pool C consideration. The Big Red needs to revamp their schedule if they want to play in NCAAs again. (corkscrew) — #19. (D-III) — NR. Big Red just couldn't quite get the wins the really needed. (minkhoo) — Disappointing end to their season and no trip to the tournament. (nevadajoe) — #23. Schedule some tougher teams. (Richard) — #22. (Youngred)

Gettysburg: Look to have more consistency next year. (nevadajoe)

Franklin & Marshall: Season of highs and lows. Very surprised at the performance against Dickinson. (Dehuntshigwa'es) — NR. Diplomats get to the finals of the Centennial but that's not quite enough. (minkhoo) — #22. Up and down team. Too much down. (Richard) — #20. (Youngred)

Western New England: #23. (Big Eyed Fish) — NR- Western New England 11, Eastern Ct. 7; Nazareth 10, Western New England 9. (D-III) — #20. (LaxForNow)

Widener: #16. (LaxForNow) — NR. Pioneers played everyone tough but couldn't quite get over the hump. (minkhoo) — Really like the way they didn't fold against Stevenson. (nevadajoe)

Montclair State: #16. (Big Eyed Fish) — Another Skyline title and more games to play. (nevadajoe) — #21. Looking forward to Wednesday. (Richard)

Ithaca: If not for a meltdown in the 4th qtr vs. Nazareth, they would be dancing. (idealtin) — #18. (LaxForNow) — NR. Bombers get to the finals of the E8 and had Nazareth on the ropes but couldn't make it stick. (minkhoo) — #24. (Youngred)

Eastern: #20. Still the best Pool B team in my opinion. Possibly the biggest snub for the tournament. (longstick33) — #19. Best Pool B team out there but does not get in?? NCAA criteria are messed up. (Richard) — Had a great year. I had them in the tourney. (valaxfan) — #25. (Youngred)

Clarkson: #24. Typical Clarkson team. Tough as nails, good schedule, but two too many losses. (Richard)

Hampden-Sydney: Fizzled at the end in a disappointing loss to Randolph-Macon. (corkscrew) — #21. (Youngred)

York: #24. (Big Eyed Fish) — NR. Spartans serve notice that they will be a force in the CAC. (minkhoo) — #23. (Youngred)

Endicott:

. Bates:

. :

. Susquehanna: Congrats on their first trip to the tournament. (nevadajoe)
