Pollsters' Comments About Teams They Ranked

RIT: #1. (AO) — #1. Got all they could handle in the snow from Brockport. Huge game against Cortland in the Dome on Wednesday. (Big Eyed Fish) — #1. Defense is a huge question mark, but looking at their schedule, there isn't a single team that will exploit it going forward. (D-III) — Still winning, still the top team. Though I'm starting to suspect they can't stop anyone and that may come back to bite them in the future. (Doxology) — #1. (goalielax10) — #1. Can they score vs. Red Dragons defense? I think so. Big Wednesday game. (idealtin) — #1. (LaxForNow) — #1. Beat Brockport. Huge game against Cortland on Wednesday in the Dome. (longstick33) — #1. (minkhoo) — They'll continue to out-score their opponents with that high-powered offense. (nevadajoe) — #1. (Richard) — Have scored 48 goals in three games. Cortland next. (Southwillrise) — #2. Defeated Brockport soundly. (thatsmell) — Big game Wednesday. (The Reason) — #1. (valaxfan) — Undisputed #1; averaging 16 goals a game. (zarching)

Cortland: #2. (AO) — #4. Best week of play so far, beating Clarkson and Stevens without any drama. They've got a huge chance for some payback in the Dome on Wednesday. (Big Eyed Fish) — Scare vs. Union but still undefeated. (corkscrew) — #5. We will know where the Red Dragons stand after RIT. (D-III) — Defense did a great job against the Ducks. (Doxology) — #2. (goalielax10) — #3. Moved them up one due to stellar defensive play. (idealtin) — #4. (LaxForNow) — #3. Two nice wins this week. (longstick33) — #2. (minkhoo) — Quality 5-goal win over Stevens. (nevadajoe) — #2. (Richard) — Haven't been pretty, but only 18 GA so far in four games. Will certainly be tested against RIT. (Southwillrise) — #4. Nice week for Cortland. Gather a quality win over Stevens. (thatsmell) — Handled Stevens easily! (The Reason) — #2. Two wins. (valaxfan) — 4 and 0. Put it on your schedule: 3/12 showdown with RIT. (zarching)

Stevenson: #3. (AO) — #6. Albright score is puzzling. Interested in seeing if Roanoke has their confidence back for this game. (Big Eyed Fish) — #2. Their professionally crafted schedule allows them to feast on the MAC teams but stay fresh throughout the year facing enough elite teams out of conference. Mustangs will be a force in May. (D-III) — Still doing well. Future remains bright. (Doxology) — #6. (goalielax10) — #2. I was surprised at the Albright score but nonetheless got the W. Some real big out-of-conference games upcoming. (idealtin) — #2. (LaxForNow) — #2. Only blemish is still OT loss to #1. I'll keep them ranked second. (longstick33) — #3. (minkhoo) — Efficient outing against Albright, who is their main conference competition. (nevadajoe) — #4. (Richard) — Coming up on a stretch of five consecutive home games against good competition. Looking forward to webcasts! (Southwillrise) — #9. Now Albright hangs with the Mustangs? (thatsmell) — Albright a lot closer than last year. (The Reason) — #3. They are All-Right this week. (valaxfan) — My #3 from day one, they remain #3. There was no reason for Tufts leapfrogging over them! (zarching)

Salisbury: #4. (AO) — #2. Solid win against OWU. Frostburg is a trap game before the War on the Shore. (Big Eyed Fish) — #4. Humming along, it's scary when Salisbury is functioning under the radar. Offense is improved from a year ago. (D-III) — On a roll and finding their groove. Convincing win over the Bishops. (Doxology) — #5. (goalielax10) — #5. Gulls are doing what they always do and that is win. (idealtin) — #5. (LaxForNow) — #4. Nice win over a good OWU squad. (longstick33) — #4. (minkhoo) — Nicely handled Ohio Wesleyan. (nevadajoe) — #7. (Richard) — Solid win vs. OWU. (Southwillrise) — #3. Beats OWU, LC and Gburg, but not as impressively as in years past. Don't fret Gull fans. Jimmy B is working things out on the Eastern Shore. (thatsmell) — Gettysburg gave them a game. (The Reason) — At 6 and 0, appear to be playing steady lacrosse. I'm ready to move up from my #5, but first need a big, convincing win. (zarching)

Cabrini: #5. (AO) — #3. Playing too good not to move up a bit. (Big Eyed Fish) — #7. At this point, Colfer needs to take a hard look at his approach and figure something out to get this team peaking in the NCAAs; this might be his best shot yet. No team has done less with more opportunities in May than Cabrini. (D-III) — Throttled the Tigers, looking very strong. (Doxology) — #4. (goalielax10) — #4. Offensive juggernaut good things are happening in Radnor, PA. (idealtin) — #3. (LaxForNow) — #6. Still undefeated. Tyler Johnston is fitting very nicely. (longstick33) — #6. (minkhoo) — Four convincing wins over some very good teams. (nevadajoe) — #3. (Richard) — Keeps on rollin'. (Southwillrise) — #1. Record remains spotless with a win over H-SC. This team is winning and doing it in style. Lynchburg and Dickinson wins are impressive. Can't wait to see what they do in May. (thatsmell) — Keep winning. (The Reason) — #5. Still playing some great lacrosse; wins over HSC. (valaxfan) — Keep winning, and by nice margins. (zarching)

Tufts: #7. (AO) — #5. Impressive grit in a shootout at Keene State. That type of win will be valuable come May, but it doesn't do much for voters now. Should be 4-0 when they face Stevenson. (Big Eyed Fish) — Giving up 16 to Keene State is reason for concern. (corkscrew) — #3. Not worried about Keene St. result. Defense is being rebuilt but the talent is there; it will take some time. The offense can basically choose what they want to score in any given game. (D-III) — Got the W, but it was in a shootout. (Doxology) — #3. (goalielax10) — #6. Score vs. Keene St was a bit surprising; defensive effort seems a bit light. (idealtin) — #6. (LaxForNow) — #5. Played Keene much closer than I would have thought. Big week ahead. (longstick33) — #5. (minkhoo) — Struggled to a narrow victory over a good team. (nevadajoe) — #5. (Richard) — Much closer than expected vs. a game Keene St., but still put 17 on the board. (Southwillrise) — #7. Keene State hangs with the Jumbos? Where's the defense? (thatsmell) — Stevens next up. Hope they don't have a McKelvie. (The Reason) — #4. Surprisingly tough win this week. (valaxfan) — Are you concerned that they squeaked by Keene by single goal? Well, perhaps this should be a greater concern: they gave up 16 goals to Keene! (zarching)

Washington College: #8. (AO) — #7. 4-0 with two solid wins this week. No marquee wins yet, but they are beating everyone they face and doing so confidently. OWU this week. (Big Eyed Fish) — #6. Continue to see this team as the dark horse title game rep. in the South. (D-III) — Another team doing still looking very strong. (Doxology) — #7. (goalielax10) — #9. Undefeated WoTS should be a hot one. (idealtin) — #7. (LaxForNow) — #8. Lots of offense. (longstick33) — #7. (minkhoo) — Continue to overcome slow starts and mistakes to win games late. (nevadajoe) — #6. (Richard) — 2-0 this week, steady as she goes. TCOB against St Mary's. (Southwillrise) — #6. Collected a nice win over a solid St. Mary's team. Appears to be the class of the Centennial so far. (thatsmell) — No competition until Salisbury. (The Reason) — WAC looking good. (valaxfan) — Look very consistent. Coming up is test vs. OWU (tough when at home in Ohio). Bigger test vs. Sal on 3/18 (the far too early WOS). (zarching)

Denison: #6. (AO) — #8. Should make short work of Wooster, and they've got a downtrodden Stevens team on Saturday. Should be 6-0 next poll. (Big Eyed Fish) — Why does Denison schedule Hope and Mt. St. Joseph? (corkscrew) — #8. (D-III) — Would have liked to seen them against Wooster, but they dismantled the Dutchmen instead. (Doxology) — #9. (goalielax10) — #7. Did not play. (idealtin) — #8. (LaxForNow) — #7. Undefeated. It's a shame the game vs. Wooster was postponed. I was looking forward to that. (longstick33) — #8. (minkhoo) — #8. (Richard) — Hope provided little resistance. (Southwillrise) — #5. I really like this team. Watch the Big Red. (thatsmell) — They haven't lost yet. (The Reason) — Surprise team so far. (valaxfan) — 4 and 0. Last win vs. Hope. Who do they play next? Crosby? (Query: Are all of Hope's games On the Road?). (zarching)

Springfield: #9. (AO) — #10. Should beat Middlebury, but Union will be an interesting one. Next four games will be hard for the Pride. (Big Eyed Fish) — Off to a strong start. (corkscrew) — #10. Great season so far for the Pride, and every game going forward on their regular season schedule is winnable. (D-III) — Undefeated and rolling along. (Doxology) — #10. (goalielax10) — #8. Thought they would have really taken WNEU to the woodshed. Came back from 3 or 4 down in the 4th to show the quality of a good team. (idealtin) — #10. (LaxForNow) — #9. Big win over the cross-town rival. Two interesting games coming up this week. (longstick33) — #10. (minkhoo) — Tough week ahead with Middlebury and Union. (nevadajoe) — #9. (Richard) — Continues to impress. Grind one out vs. Western New England. (Southwillrise) — #11. Grabbed a good win over WNEC. (thatsmell) — Their next game will tell a lot. (The Reason) — Continue to be surprisingly impressive. (zarching)

Wesleyan: #11. (AO) — #9. Took care of Bates and like Springfield, they face Union and Middlebury this week. (Big Eyed Fish) — #9. Like Washington in the South, could be a dark horse in the North. They are going to get better and better, and the D might be untouchable by mid-April. (D-III) — #8. (goalielax10) — #13. If the Cardinals had more offense they would be more dangerous. Maybe it's their way to just play slow ball. (idealtin) — #17. (LaxForNow) — #10. Got the Bates monkey off their back. (longstick33) — #9. (minkhoo) — Two competitive games ahead of them this week. (nevadajoe) — #14. (Richard) — Put up two solid wins this week. Made quick work of a solid RPI team. (Southwillrise) — #8. Get wins over Rensselaer and Bates. (thatsmell) — Playing a tougher schedule this year could Help. (The Reason) — Playing well so far. (valaxfan) — Undefeated and playing just well enough to hold spot in top 10. (zarching)

Lynchburg: #10. (AO) — #12. Finally pick up a solid win. They face a 4-0 Guilford team, that isn't the same program it has been in the past this week. (Big Eyed Fish) — #17. (D-III) — Hot and cold at times but still a dangerous team if you catch them on the right day. (Doxology) — #11. (goalielax10) — #17. Even though team has two losses, both were to best teams in D3. Some easy games upcoming then a few more tough ones. (idealtin) — #9. (LaxForNow) — #18. Good win over Gettysburg. (longstick33) — #16. (minkhoo) — Nice win over Gettysburg. (nevadajoe) — #11. (Richard) — Nice win over Gettysburg. (Southwillrise) — #10. They are 2-2, but it's a GOOD 2-2, if that's possible. You won't want to face the Hornets in May. (thatsmell) — Only losses have come to two top 10 teams. (The Reason) — Dodges the Bullets. (valaxfan) — Win over Gettysburg was needed to settle season. (zarching)

Montclair State: #16. (AO) — #13. 4-0. Challenging week ahead. This should be a good gauge of where they are at. (Big Eyed Fish) — #15. Next three games will tell us if this group is a legit top-20 team. (D-III) — #14. (goalielax10) — #10. Upcoming game with Ursinius should be interesting. Undefeated so far. (idealtin) — #16. (LaxForNow) — #12. Handled Vassar. Match-up with St. Mary's next Saturday should be a good one. (longstick33) — #11. (minkhoo) — I'll be a true believer when I see how they fare against Ursinus and St. Mary's this week. (nevadajoe) — #13. (Richard) — Still unbeaten. (Southwillrise) — #12. Big riser. From 20 last week to 12 in my poll. Four wins over solid programs so far. Big game with Ursinus this week. (thatsmell) — Moving up. (The Reason) — Still winning. (valaxfan) — 4 and 0. 15,431 Red Hawks can't be wrong! (zarching)

Endicott: #12. (AO) — #11. Hosting Amherst this week will be a really tough task. Really hoping for a match-up of undefeated teams when they face Springfield. (Big Eyed Fish) — #12. The breakout as an elite squad that I envisioned after the 2011 season might finally be here. (D-III) — #12. (goalielax10) — #15. Three gritty wins for this team. (idealtin) — #15. (LaxForNow) — #17. Still winning. (longstick33) — #12. (minkhoo) — Nice 3-0 start for the Gulls. (nevadajoe) — #15. (Richard) — Didn't think Gulls were this strong! Wins at Conn College and EConn this week. I'm impressed. First time in my Top 20. (Southwillrise) — #13. Power Gulls beating up on the state of Connecticut last week. (thatsmell) — They're for real. (The Reason) — Strong opening to season. (zarching)

Ithaca: #13. (AO) — #14. They'll play Saint Lawrence in Florida. Nearly upset by Ursinus, but this year's Ithaca team has enough grit and experience to keep that a W. Could be a tournament team. (Big Eyed Fish) — #16. (D-III) — Despite loss to Tigers, having a solid start to year. (Doxology) — #13. (goalielax10) — #11. This team is gaining a ton of confidence, all the right pieces here, no one player outstanding but plays total team ball and that is what wins games. (idealtin) — #19. (LaxForNow) — #19. Big game vs. SLU this week. (longstick33) — #14. (minkhoo) — Nice win on the road against Ursinus. (nevadajoe) — #12. (Richard) — Survive Ursinus, big test against St. Lawrence midweek. (Southwillrise) — #15. Grab a good win over a solid Ursinus team. (thatsmell) — Win is a win. (The Reason) — Bombers play hard noised lacrosse and won two this week. (valaxfan) — Edged Ursinus by a goal. At first, was troubled that they only put 6 goals on scoreboard. BUT, look at Ursinus's goals-against average! (zarching)

York: #14. (AO) — #16. Really impressive so far. Big contest with Mary Washington on Saturday. (Big Eyed Fish) — #11. The consistency has been very impressive, the sign of an extremely well coached team. (D-III) — Rocked a Haverford team going in the wrong direction. Looking very solid this year. (Doxology) — #16. (goalielax10) — #12. Some good OOC games upcoming, otherwise all easier contests. (idealtin) — #11. (LaxForNow) — #11. Been on a roll since their opening game OT loss. (longstick33) — #20. (minkhoo) — Five straight wins since the opening OT loss to Stevenson. (nevadajoe) — #10. (Richard) — Continue to rise, Will Mary Washington be a challenge? (Southwillrise) — #17. Gather wins over Scranton and Haverford. Still looking for a signature win over a top team. Early season close loss to Stevenson losing its shine when Albright does it too. (thatsmell) — Five in a row. (The Reason) — Very nice season so far. (valaxfan)

St. Mary's: #15. (AO) — #18. Tough midweek loss to a good team. This is a dangerous team, but they shouldn't be ranked ahead any higher than 15 at any point this season. (Big Eyed Fish) — #18. (D-III) — #19. (goalielax10) — #20. If Seahawks can beat Montclair St., it will make a believer out of me. (idealtin) — #18. (LaxForNow) — #15. (minkhoo) — Hung in until the end at Washington College. (nevadajoe) — #19. (Richard) — Easy win vs. Muhlenberg, big match up with Montclair State midweek. (Southwillrise) — #14. Battled WAC and fell short at the end. Bounced back by drubbing Muhlenberg. (thatsmell) — Played WAC tough. (valaxfan) — Loss to WC not terribly concerning to me. Fate, as far as this poll, in their own hands. (zarching)

St. Lawrence: #19. (AO) — #15. 2-0 with two impressive wins so far. Game with Ithaca in Florida this week is a big one. I think this one could go a long way in determining whether or not they get an at-large bid. (Big Eyed Fish) — Good win over Nazareth. (corkscrew) — #14. Great start for the Larries. (D-III) — #15. (goalielax10) — #16. Larries beat Nazareth in 1st qtr. Put up 5 goals on 6 shots. Defense is tough; goalie play is good. (idealtin) — #21. (LaxForNow) — #15. Good win over a defensively challenged Nazareth team. (longstick33) — #18. (minkhoo) — Really liked the close win on the road against Nazareth. (nevadajoe) — #17. (Richard) — Can these guys challenge RIT in Liberty? (Southwillrise) — #19. Grabs a win over Nazareth. (thatsmell) — Knocked Nazareth out of top 20. (The Reason)

Bowdoin: #17. (AO) — #19. Pretty strong and athletic team. They past all of their early tests and have Nazareth and Hamilton this week. Great chance to move up more. (Big Eyed Fish) — Good start to the season. (corkscrew) — #13. Another team to watch, classic Bowdoin team, big and athletic middies and poles. (D-III) — Won a shootout over the Lord Jeffs. (Doxology) — #17. (goalielax10) — #14. Three nice wins to open the season and a fair amount of offense have Polar Bears looking good. (idealtin) — #14. Off to a nice start. (longstick33) — #17. (minkhoo) — #16. (Richard) — Solid team worth keeping an eye on. (Southwillrise) — #22. 3-0 with Nazareth coming up. (thatsmell) — Could be a top team this year. (The Reason)

Mary Washington: #17. 5-0 with their toughest tests yet. We'll see if they're finally ready to seize their early season momentum. (Big Eyed Fish) — #19. Wins are wins, but now the season starts for Mary Washington. Let's see what happens. (D-III) — #21. (goalielax10) — #18. Hey, 5-0 is undefeated in my book. York game will tell us a lot. (idealtin) — #14. (LaxForNow) — #13. No wins over top teams but still undefeated. Kind of a make or break week with two huge games. (longstick33) — #13. (minkhoo) — Let's see what they do with a bit higher level of competition this week. (nevadajoe) — #21. (Richard) — Getting plenty of support in the Forum. Put your money where your mouth is against W&L and York. (Southwillrise) — #18. Big week for the Eagles with W&L and York on the slate. (thatsmell) — 5-0. (The Reason) — Plays Generals on Wednesday. (valaxfan) — OK. I'll put in top 20. But, have they earned it? And, look at upcoming schedule ... how long they gonna stay here? (zarching)

Roanoke: Winners of three straight games in past week, including Dickinson. (corkscrew) — #20. Maroons hanging around at the bottom of the rankings after beating a very down Dickinson squad. (D-III) — Looks like the Maroons are very close to back on track. (Doxology) — #20. (goalielax10) — #19. Maroons lose first two and then rattle off three wins. I don't ever count out a team coached by Pilat. (idealtin) — #20. (LaxForNow) — #16. Three wins in a row and a nice win over a struggling Dickinson team gets them back in my top 20. (longstick33) — #22. (minkhoo) — Nice win over Dickinson keeps them in the Top 20. (nevadajoe) — #20. (Richard) — Back in business with win over Dickinson. (Southwillrise) — #16. Back on the radar with a commanding beat-down of Dickinson. (thatsmell) — Nice win over Dickinson ... after opening with two losses, that's three straight wins. I still believe in this team and that it can make a strong NCAA tourney run! (zarching)

Gettysburg: #20. (AO) — #21. Not a great loss against Lynchburg. Still like what they have, but they haven't proven they can win yet. (Big Eyed Fish) — Have now dropped two in a row, and game against the Cavaliers does not look good. (Doxology) — #18. (goalielax10) — #12. (LaxForNow) — #19. (minkhoo) — The 6-goal loss to Lynchburg is concerning with a huge test coming up on Wednesday at Cabrini. (nevadajoe) — #25. (Richard) — #23. Like just about every Bullet team of the past decade, they are good enough to play spoiler or get a big win in the Centennial, but I dont see them as a favorite. (thatsmell) — Not a good time to be playing Cabrini. (The Reason) — Loss to Lynchburg surprised me. Thought well played games vs. Gulls would give them a bounce. (zarching)

Ohio Wesleyan: #25. Even with the loss to the Gulls, they should be about here for now. (Big Eyed Fish) — Got dominated by the Gulls; let's see how they respond. (Doxology) — #23. (goalielax10) — #13. (LaxForNow) — #20. Tough loss to Salisbury but hangs on in top 20. (longstick33) — #23. (minkhoo) — Hung in gamely against Salisbury. (nevadajoe) — #23. (Richard) — Loss to Salisbury starts three-game stretch of Mid-Atlantic teams. Will know more about them next week. (Southwillrise)

Dickinson: #24. Bad loss to Roanoke. Something is off about this team. On paper they should be a lot better. (Big Eyed Fish) — Three straight losses have the Red Devils dropping fast. (corkscrew) — Have dropped three in a row and struggling mightily. (Doxology) — #23. (LaxForNow) — I still believe, although a few more losses will be devastating. (nevadajoe) — Three losses in a row. What's wrong? (Southwillrise) — #20. Good team, but sliding with three straight losses. (thatsmell) — Three losses so far, dampening high pre-season expectations. But take closer look at those losses before you dismiss this team. (zarching)

Union: #21. (AO) — Defense playing well, but can they score more if needed? (Doxology) — Very good GAA. Will find out more this week vs. Wesleyan and Springfield. (Southwillrise)

Nazareth: #22. They should bounce back by the season's end. Obviously a good team with some legit players. But they just aren't winning consistently and others are. (Big Eyed Fish) — #24. (goalielax10) — #21. On the outside looking in. Solve the defensive woes and team will flourish. (idealtin) — #21. (minkhoo) — #18. (Richard) — Mixed bag: win over Hamilton, loss to St. Lawrence. (Southwillrise) — #25. Loss to the Larries drops Nazareth. (thatsmell) — Loss to St. Lawrence takes them out of poll consideration ... for the time being. (zarching)

Plattsburgh: #18. (AO) — Good win on the road against Western Connecticut. (nevadajoe) — #24. (Richard)

Stevens: Dropping rapidly. (Doxology) — Three straight losses. Yeah, against good teams, but noble defeats can only carry you so far ... plus, the schedule gets harder. (zarching)

Connecticut College: #20. Handles Middlebury, but a mid-week loss to Endicott drops them a bit. Can't sleep on Williams. (Big Eyed Fish) — #24. (LaxForNow) — Follow loss vs. Endicott with a solid defensive effort at Middlebury. (Southwillrise) — Should win their next three games. (The Reason)

Western New England: Having a rough go of the early portion of the season. (Doxology) — Winless ... they, too, are going to make room for some new names in the top 20. (zarching)

Ursinus: #25. (LaxForNow) — #21. Watch this team. Stout defense. Jamie Steele has them pointed in the right direction. Centennial will be a dogfight with WAC, DC, GC and yes, Ursinus, in the mix. (thatsmell) — Have yielded only 8 goals in three games! (2.66 GAA). WOW!!! Put on your watch list! (zarching)

Other Teams Pollsters Considered (and comments, if any)

. Washington & Lee: #23. 2-3 and just not that strong. They don't have the depth to be a top tier program right now. Still dangerous. (Big Eyed Fish) — #22. (LaxForNow) — Three successive losses, and like Keyser Söze - "Poof ... they are gone" ... from the top 20 that is. (zarching)

. Trinity:

. Guilford: #22. (goalielax10)

. Colby: #25. (goalielax10) — #24. 2-0. (thatsmell)

. Clarkson: #22. (Richard)

. St. John Fisher: #24. (minkhoo)

. Christopher Newport: #25. (minkhoo) — I'll jump on this bandwagon early in case they are the real deal in their inaugural year in the CAC. (nevadajoe)

. Franklin & Marshall: Showed a lot in the victory over Washington & Lee. (nevadajoe)
