Pollsters' Comments About Teams They Ranked

Maryland: I can't move the Terps ahead of the Evil Empire unless the Rebel Forces show some likelihood of prevailing. (DallasLaxDad) — No question that Caitlyn McFadden is making a name for herself for Player of the Year honors, but don’t overlook the work the Terp defense is doing. You can’t score if you don’t shoot, and when the Terps are scoring the way they are, it will be tough to match them goal for goal. (draw18) — This juggernaut keeps rolling along. Very impressive 20-6 win over the tough Granite Girls. Shaping up like "who does better against Penn" the first week of April for #1 bragging rights. #1. (Glaxrdaddy) — Just kept the machine oiled this week with wins against UNH and GMU. My #2. (Go Team) — #1 - Easy week for the Terps, including a roll over the Wildcats - UNH Wildcats, that is. (johnnyboy) — Two "Terp-downs" in a span of four days. Who says turtles move slowly? They remain my #1. (LadyLaker) — #1 Now I'm looking for a Maryland stumble for NU to move up. (laxamerica) — Took care of business and showed the Cats who is boss. No, the other Cats. Should take care of the Hoyas mid week and the Eagles late. (Lionwatcher) — Terps. Nuff said ... (Lucky Laxer) — At 6-0 still my #1 team. Terps scored double digits on opponents George Mason Nation 16-4 and New Hampshire 20-6 this week and held them to single digits! Go Terps!! (MDLaxManiac) — 2. Storming the gates but still in at #2. (mytwokeepers) — #1. Terps just keep rolling along. (slides2) — Terps averaging over 16 goals/game on the attack and allowing fewer than 6 per game with their "D" - two good games ahead this week with Georgetown and BC coming to College Park. (socrlaxdad) — Two wins vs. teams that were not afraid whatsoever. (Turtles Lax) — The Pacific Premiere Edition: honor battles of WWII “Pearl Harbor”ing every team they face, relentlessly spreading the Red Tide and seemingly unbeatable! (UnderArmourOdor) — Some teams play good no matter what the weather. (WLaxinator)

Northwestern: The game against Duquesne was no contest. The Death Star's defenses have seemed suspect have not been penetrated, so NU remains atop my ballot. (DallasLaxDad) — The defending champs are still very strong and just add more players to the pantheon like Taylor Thornton, who is having a strong rookie season. And as Brianne LoManto gains more confidence in the cage, the ‘Cats will be even more imposing. (draw18) — Hoya loss to Duke doesn't help, 23-1 over Duquesne meaningless. Syracuse next Sunday. #2. (Glaxrdaddy) — Ran a practice against the Dukes, but it counted. Plays Syracuse 3/21. (Go Team) — #2 - This is the NW we are used to seeing, as Wildcats score over 20 and humiliate an opponent for the first time this season. (johnnyboy) — NW visited the Dukes of the Duquesne Dukes ... and won. Next few games will be determine if rain is indeed purple. (LadyLaker) — #2 Tough to make much of this week's game. (laxamerica) — Handled Duquesne as they should have. Looking forward to the Sunday trip to the Not-Dome, which should help to define both. (Lionwatcher) — A shame to blow that shut-out against Duquesne. Is that what NWU calls a "statement" win? Seriously though, KAH played 'em all! Oh to see a Turtle-Cat fight! (Lucky Laxer) — At 5-0 NU took a big bite out of the Duquesne Dukes 23-1, oh gee almost a shut-out! (MDLaxManiac) — 1. Locked in at #1. (mytwokeepers) — #2. 23-1 thrashing of Duquesne not much of an indicator, one way or another. (slides2) — 'Cats keep winning, so I can't drop 'em ... despite the rising Terp tide! Playing the Orange at the Carrier Dome this week should be a great game. (socrlaxdad) — NU must account for weak schedule. Beating a team 23-1 does not count. (Turtles Lax) — The Pacific Premiere Edition: honor battles of WWII “Marianas Turkey Shoot” like performance against Duquesne, Spencer an ace with 5! (UnderArmourOdor) — This may not be popular in Syracuse, but the Wildcats need to tear up the Orange in the Carrier Dome. (WLaxinator)

Duke: I'm really beginning to suspect that performance against Maryland was an aberration. Wins over Boston University and Georgetown move the Dookies ahead of NC, Penn, and Georgetown to no. 3. (DallasLaxDad) — The Duke defense took a little blow with the loss of the keeper, but the rookie stepped in and made some big plays for the Blue Devils, who don't seem to have lost a step. That confidence will help keep Duke in the upper echelon of the system. (draw18) — Duke plays some solid defense and breaks in a freshman goalie against the Hoyas, move up 2 slots. #5. (Glaxrdaddy) — Dook squeaks by G-town. Good win vs. BU. Should post wins against Va Tech and Navy. (Go Team) — #3 - Blue Devils have the most impressive record so far this season with all Ws against good to very good opponents. Leapfrog Penn and UNC. (johnnyboy) — Dookies dish dual GU/BU smack-down. Film at 11. (LadyLaker) — #3 Two wins this week and one with a new goalie. (laxamerica) — Two quality wins this week for the Blue Devils. They do not seem to have the high powered offense of old, but they are playing better defense. Couple of tune-ups that they should handle before UVa and NWU come to Hooville back to back. (Lionwatcher) — Dook moves back to three with a solid "take care of business week". They did what one would expect a top team to do in taking down BUGU. The elder wins the battle of the Kaestners! Congrats Ashby!!! (Lucky Laxer) — Now 7-1 this week 10 was Duke's number, they be the BU Terriers 10-6 and the Gtown Hoyas 10-8, which helps them in this week's ranking. (MDLaxManiac) — 3. With only on loss to Maryland, Duke has moved to #3. (mytwokeepers) — #4. Two big wins against BU and Georgetown. (slides2) — Dookies knocked off two top 10 foes in Durham last week - should be able to add a couple of more Ws with Va. Tech and Navy up this week. (socrlaxdad) — Thought win over BU was big; it was little. (Turtles Lax) — Devil’s “Bataan Death March” of top 10 foes finally ends after 10 is enough against both BU and the Hoyas! (UnderArmourOdor) — One step at a time. (WLaxinator)

North Carolina: UNC drops to No. 4 after an OT loss to Virginia. (D-Lax) — What to make of an overtime loss to Virginia? The rest of the Tar Heels' resume is so solid, they fall only one spot, to no. 4. (DallasLaxDad) — The Tar Heels got rid of the spectre of an undefeated season, and now they can just concentrate on being good. This is a relentless midfield, and they can score ... now they need to return to that tough defense and stop opponents. (draw18) — First loss of the season, as Cavs take the Heels in OT 6-5. Stay at #3 for now. (Glaxrdaddy) — Just a notch below UVa for now, but the ACC championship is always a good place to get even. (Go Team) — #4 - Heels lose league opener in OT - tied for last in ACC. Drop one spot in my rankings. (johnnyboy) — Wa-Hoo-Was-That?!??! Oh that was the Cavaliers schooling you almost out of my top 10. (LadyLaker) — #4 Slips one spot this week after their loss to UVa. (laxamerica) — The luster on the Heel's rising star took a hit this week with the OT loss to the Cavaliers. (Other than the Turtles) the ACC seems to be shaping up as the normal demolition derby. Need to reassert their identity in the nation's capital this week. (Lionwatcher) — UNC's fateful trip to the Hoo Nation turned into a true donnybrook. A game of the ages, but a loss and drops them a few. (Lucky Laxer) — Now 6-1, UNC Tar Heels lost the first ACC match up this year to UVa on a rainy soggy day in Hooville, 12-13 in OT. I was really surprised the score was so close and they lost. Put it in the past and move along Tar Heels! (MDLaxManiac) — 5. The overtime loss to UVa drops UNC to #5. (mytwokeepers) — #3. Keep position on strength of overall record and despite OT loss in Charlottesville. (slides2) — 'Heels lose a tough one in OT at UVa ... and they must go back on the road to #7 Georgetown this week. (socrlaxdad) — Up 4 zip ... tied at half ... lost in OT. Coaching? (Turtles Lax) — “Iwo Jima” battle of attrition with Hoos is game of the weekend; Heels started well, finished well, but rough middle. Game will help both down the road! (UnderArmourOdor) — Great start: Beat Florida ... check. Beat Penn ... check. Score four unanswered points to start the game at Virginia ... check. And then came the unexpected. (WLaxinator)

Virginia: Although the Hoos beat NC, the two losses put them below the Tar Heels. No. 6. (DallasLaxDad) — The Cavaliers have finally righted the ship, with a pair of big wins. With multiple scorers and some saves, this team can continue to grow. It has to be careful that it does not get into an all-out shootout, though. (draw18) — Take down #3 Tar Heels in OT and move up 2 slots to #6. (Glaxrdaddy) — UVa says I belong in the top 5 with OT win over UNC. (Go Team) — #8 - Have to admit I didn't think Hoos would have this much this early, but they pick up a great win over UNC to get back in the race for second in the ACC. Leap several spots into my top 10. (johnnyboy) — Wahoos "heeled" UNC decisively. (LadyLaker) — #6 Nice win over UNC. (laxamerica) — The Kazoos are singing after the OT win. Interesting week with W&M and the Orange and Black on tap. Cavaliers should win both, but the games may say more about the opponents. (Lionwatcher) — The Hoo Nation gets a loftier perch for the removal of those heels of tar. Just glad to not see those infamous UNC white shorts this year. (Lucky Laxer) — At 4-2, UVa gets a big win at home in the rain and mud over ACC conference foe UNC in a 13-12 OT game at home! The heart attack in Hooville! (MDLaxManiac) — 4. By defeating UNC, I will now view the loss to Loyola as an early season aberration, not a fatal flaw (fall?). Virginia grabs #4, by the slim hair of an overtime victory over UNC. (mytwokeepers) — #5. Hoos move up on OT thriller against UNC. (slides2) — 'Cavs are walking a tightrope. Can they keep their balance at W&M and Princeton this week? (socrlaxdad) — The ever puzzling 'Hoos ... Nothing consistent 'cept their cool unis. Yet they just might run the regular season table now. #2 in TL's poll!!!! (Turtles Lax) — “Guadalcanal” intense no-holds-barred OT battle with Heels may have turned the Hoos tide, another ACC slug fest that Baker aces out a win! (UnderArmourOdor) — If Virginia ever gets a field devoted solely to women's lacrosse and do not name it Comeback Field, the field will not be named correctly. (WLaxinator)

Penn: Penn remains at No. 3, but too many close calls may jeopardize that. (D-Lax) — I don't know what to make of a 6-5 win over Hofstra. But, the name of the game is winning, and it was a win. But, I'm dropping the Quakers a spot, to no. 5. (DallasLaxDad) — Penn will be frustrating to opponents with their solid defense and run-ruining play. The Quakers have four great scorers up front, and Barb Seaman in the back is doing very well in front of Emily Szelest. (draw18) — Struggled against a very tough Hofstra, then back to Ivy business and demolished Harvard. #4. (Glaxrdaddy) — Penn made a statement with 16 over Brown after two lackluster scoring games. Hopkins Game on 3/24 should be fun. If Hop could score a little better, they would have a chance. They need speed at the draw. (Go Team) — #5 - Quakers get a hard fought win over Hofstra and then take their Ivy opener. (johnnyboy) — #5 Moves ahead of Georgetown this week. It's tough to say much about those two wins. (laxamerica) — Had a tough time with the upstart Pride and rebounded to put the smart kids in their place. They have a couple of weeks to work on things before the Turtles crawl in to Franklin in April. (Lionwatcher) — The Quakers were shaking with their Pride win, but put the crimson color back to their face thanks to Harvard. They say Pride goeth before the fall. Well the Pride went, but Penn's ranking still falls. Just who are the 2010 Quakers? (Lucky Laxer) — At 4-1 the Quakers had two wins this week. They squeaked out a win over unranked Hofstra 6-5 and beat up on Ivy League foe Harvard 16-6. (MDLaxManiac) — 7. (mytwokeepers) — #6. Offensive output still MIA against Hofstra; put together strong effort against Harvard. (slides2) — Two expected wins this past week, two more ahead this week with St. Joe's and Yale. (socrlaxdad) — Signs of life this week? Indeed. (Turtles Lax) — “Tarawa” - a win that feels like a loss is what the fightin’ Quakers got against Hofstra but learn lesson and beat back Brown! (UnderArmourOdor)

Syracuse: The Syracuse offense is their best defense. The Orange have taken almost twice as many shots as their opposition, and they are scoring at twice the clip. With Ladoucer and Tumolo leading the way in a five-deep offense, it will be tough to out-score Cuse. (draw18) — Weak schedule after not playing last week, down a few to #7. (Glaxrdaddy) — 'Cuse should fare well against lower ranked Towson, but could overlook one cat (Tigers) for another Cat (NU Purple) on 3/21. The Orange next five opponents are ranked teams. (Go Team) — #6 - Orange cruise over Vermont then take the weekend off. (johnnyboy) — Orange was the dominant color for Vermont. (LadyLaker) — #8 Stays where they are now due to lack of pressure from below. (laxamerica) — Beat up on the Catamounts. Sunday is a big game with the Big Cats coming to town. Will Hogan and her Heroes be able to defend enough? (Lionwatcher) — Gary's girls catamount to six thanks to their solid Vermont win and some select losses. (Lucky Laxer) — Now 3-1, the Cuse rebounds with a solid win over Vermont 19-7. (MDLaxManiac) — 6. With only the one-goal loss to UVa sullying "Cuse's resume, they grab #6, just behind UNC's OT loss to UVa. (mytwokeepers) — #7. Not much opposition from Vermont. Visit by Northwestern next weekend gives plenty for Gait's charges to think about. (slides2) — After a week off, the Orange will host Towson and Northwestern in the dome this week. (socrlaxdad) — See UVa comments. (Turtles Lax) — Orangewomen bounce back from loss to Hoos with a “Battle of Midway” air and see ... lots of goals, win over Vermont! (UnderArmourOdor)

Georgetown: The loss to Duke can be understood. But, the two-goal win over Florida was a surprise. I'm dropping the Hoyas a few spots, to no. 11. (DallasLaxDad) — The Hoyas have a number of people that can score, but there needs to be more of it. Formby's experience will be helpful as GU moves forward, but the Hoyas need to count on double-digit scoring. (draw18) — Hoyas don't help themselves with close win over upstart Florida, then lose to Duke. Down to #8. (Glaxrdaddy) — Maryland and UNC on deck. I say it will be an 0-2 week. (Go Team) — #9 - Hoyas prove they can play with top 5 teams - just can't beat one. Drop in my rankings. (johnnyboy) — I keep waiting for this team to have its marquis win. Still waiting b/c Gator bashing wasn't it. (LadyLaker) — #7 Moves down after a marginal win over Florida and a loss to Duke. (laxamerica) — Kept the Gators at bay, but barely, then stumbled against the Blue Devils. Brutal week to rebound with the visit to College Park before the Tar Heels come to We Use this Field for Ever thing Field in the Heart of Liberty. (Lionwatcher) — The Hoyas drop for one good reason and, maybe, one not-so-good. I understand the loss to Duke, but what does the narrow win vs. Gainesville State say about these dogs? (Lucky Laxer) — Now at 2-2, Gtown Hoyas struggle and beat first year UF Gators by only 2 goals down south 13-11 and then lose a close one to the Duke Blue Devils 8-10 by 2 goals. This week should be titled "The importance of 2 goals." They are at the bottom of my Top 20. (MDLaxManiac) — 8. (mytwokeepers) — #8. Florida not much of a vacation and Duke insurmountable. Do not envy Hoyas, who will have had to play NU, Duke, MD, and UNC all in a 14-day stretch. (slides2) — Hoyas lose at Duke ... so what's next? Only Maryland and UNC. Yikes! (socrlaxdad) — Impending showdown with Terps will answer many questions. And there are many questions. (Turtles Lax) — Hoyas get a win against Gators but like a future resident of DC have a “Kolombangra Island in the Solomons” moment against Duke and their PT Boat 10-8 is cut in half. (UnderArmourOdor) — Does that scheduler from Richmond moonlight at Georgetown? (WLaxinator)

Stanford: The Cardinal rested this week but moved up to no. 9 on my ballot because of the performances of some of those ahead of them last week. (DallasLaxDad) — One of the biggest strengths for the Cardinal is that they are a deep team with a number of players able to make a difference. Paige Farmakis has come in off the bench well for Stanford, and the scoring is being done by a strong committee of five. (draw18) — DNP. #10 for now, but Maryland, Towson, and Hofstra next week will determine their standing for the year. #10. (Glaxrdaddy) — Idle. (Go Team) — #10 - Please don't bother the team Cardinal during their vacation. (johnnyboy) — Rare in-season off-week, so they are hanging, but a loss could hang them permanently. (LadyLaker) — #9 Moves up despite no play as those above them were unimpressive. (laxamerica) — Watching the women's basketball team lock up a 1-seed for the Dance. Tune-up against the Bearcats before trying to get under the Turtles' carapace. (Lionwatcher) — The Cardinal are establishing new roots in the Top 10. I'm anxious to see what happens after their break. (Lucky Laxer) — At 4-2, the Cardinal must have taken a little Spring Break - no game this past week. (MDLaxManiac) — 11. (mytwokeepers) — #10. Still riding high after win against Vandy. (slides2) — The Cardinal have another week with no games - must be a great spring break trip! (socrlaxdad) — Is there a reason(s) they scheduled NO games the entire week? Oh, and none this week, too. Methinks a 15-day mid-season (!) layoff does not help the Cardinal. (Turtles Lax) — Somewhere way out West the “Fight for Burma” goes on but almost forgotten! (UnderArmourOdor)

Towson: Towson moves up to No. 11 this week and awaits a match-up with the Orange. (D-Lax) — At 4-0, the Tigers move into the top 10, at no. 7. (DallasLaxDad) — Hilary Fratzke is the leader of this team, whose strength is a depth of talented players that want to keep the CAA title in Baltimore. They’ve already claimed the Charm City crown, and have their sights set on more wins. (draw18) — Narrow win over Hopkins, then rolled over GWU. #18. (Glaxrdaddy) — Must not lose too bad to Syracuse. Must remember to bring flashlights. On deck are Richmond, Stanford and MD. That was a heck of a comeback against the Hop. (Go Team) — #7 - Undefeated Tigers win an exciting game vs. JHU and edge higher in my rankings. Can they knock off the Orange this week? (johnnyboy) — Win over Hop for Charles Street Snowbank Crown and over GW puts them at my #9. (LadyLaker) — #10 Continues to win. (laxamerica) — Two wins, but a close one with the Blue Jays, which I would not have expected. Still if you maintain serve, in my book you do not suffer. May need the Luck o' the Irish this week when they visit the Orange. (Lionwatcher) — The undisputed Champs of Charles Street have the honor of rounding out my TEN! Check back next week. (Lucky Laxer) — Now 4-0, the Tigers had a close win over JHU 11-10 and then beat-up on GW 14-4. (MDLaxManiac) — 9. (mytwokeepers) — #9. Squeak by JHU and take care of business against GW. (slides2) — Tigers are the "Champs of Bahlmur", hon, having swept all the local rivals in their first three games. Big test ahead at the Carrier Dome. (socrlaxdad) — Quite possibly one of the elite teams this year. Game vs. Da 'Cuse on Wednesday will tell a lot. (Turtles Lax) — Tigers battle with Hop is reminiscent of “Cape Gloucester” hand-to-hand, take-no-prisoners battle in the Homewood jungle! (UnderArmourOdor)

Penn State: Exclude the losses to the higher-ranked Terps and Virginia, and the Nittany Lions are unbeaten. At no. 8 on my ballot. (DallasLaxDad) — The Nittany Lions have talent all over the field, starting with Stephanie Ellis in the cage and all the way through a precocious rookie in Molly Fernandez. This veteran team has experience and a spark in the rookie Fernandez who only makes the squad that much stronger. (draw18) — Open ALC at Vandy this week. Hold at #16. (Glaxrdaddy) — Faces Vandy 3/21. The loser may not return to the top 20. Nice win against Delaware. (Go Team) — #14 - Nittanies are true to form - losing to higher ranked teams and beating the rest. (johnnyboy) — Just outta my Top 10 but still looking good to break into the magical circle of 10. (LadyLaker) — #15 Stable with a win. (laxamerica) — Beat a tough Delaware team, which would be expected. What will we see against the Dores? Big chance to establish some dominance in the rest of the ALC. (Lionwatcher) — Shea U is looking better and better to me. A week off to get ready for the trip to Vandy should serve them well. (Lucky Laxer) — Now 4-2, Penn State Nittany Lions took a bite out of the Delaware Blue Hens this week 12-8. (MDLaxManiac) — 10. (mytwokeepers) — #13. Good win against Delaware. (slides2) — Nittany Lions open their ALC schedule at Vandy this week. (socrlaxdad) — Jury still out on Nittany Lions. TL keeping them in Top 10 for now, at least. (Turtles Lax) — Lions claw out a hard fought “Okinawa” type win over Delaware with a rejuvenated Vandy on deck! (UnderArmourOdor)

Vanderbilt: Vanderbilt moves up to No. 13 after two wins this week, including a decisive win over B.U. (D-Lax) — What do a loss to Stanford but a win over BU tell us, especially with a 3-3 record? I'm bringing the Commodores back on my ballot, way up to 14. (DallasLaxDad) — A huge win for the Commodores, and one that can give them the extra push to demonstrate how deep and talented this team is. Scoring will come from a number of different options, and Ally Carey does a very nice job anchoring the midfield for the Dores. (draw18) — Big win over BU moves up one, #13. (Glaxrdaddy) — Just when Vandy goes code blue they pull a win out and showed BU the door. Louisville and Penn State on tap. (Go Team) — #17 - Vandy evens their record at 3-3 including a good one over BU. (johnnyboy) — How about those 'Dores? Just when you think they'll sleep their way through the 2010 season..they pull out a W against Longwood (expected) and BU (not expected). (LadyLaker) — #13 Two good wins. (laxamerica) — Nice win against the Terriers keeps the Dores' ship afloat this week. Louisville and the Lions from Happy Valley come to Music City this week, and the second is very important. (Lionwatcher) — Vandy's redemption work being successfully completed, they're rewarded with a three-game week. Don't know if Swezey's queasy, but much rides on the results. (Lucky Laxer) — Now 3-3, the Commodores beat Longwood 17-8 and then a huge 10-5 win over BU! Great week for Vandy! (MDLaxManiac) — 15. (mytwokeepers) — #19. Back in the picture with convincing win over BU. (slides2) — 'Dores back on the winning track ... they host Louisville and Penn State this week. (socrlaxdad) — Important to beat BU. (Turtles Lax) — With everything going wrong, the Commodores get a “Battle of the Coral Sea” big win over BU to stop a losing campaign! (UnderArmourOdor)

Dartmouth: Julie Wadlund is playing behind a tough defense that does not allow a lot to get to her. Kat Collins and Greta Meyer are leading the way up front, while Hilary Smith and Sarah Plumb are providing quality opportunities for the Women of Dartmouth. (draw18) — DNP. #11. (Glaxrdaddy) — #13 - Sign on door of Big Green's Locker Room - "Gone Fishin - be back soon". (johnnyboy) — #12 Move up despite no play. (laxamerica) — DNP. Easing back into things with Columbia this week, buy the Orange is on the horizon. (Lionwatcher) — The Big Green gets #1 in the second 10. Why? Because I can. They didn't play, but with St. Patty's Day, I needed something green and the other choice smelled too much like days old cabbage this week. Let's see if they honor this honor with a win on the big day! (Lucky Laxer) — Now 2-1, the Big Green must have taken a little Spring Break, no game this past week and are close to the bottom of my Top 20. (MDLaxManiac) — 12. (mytwokeepers) — #11. Second 10 a very unstable group and hard to call. We'll start with Dartmouth, idle this past week. (slides2) — Big Green will take on Columbia this week. (socrlaxdad) — Big Green got the perfect win over ND like “Tinian” before taking a break! (UnderArmourOdor)

Boston University: B.U. drops to No. 17 after an 0-2 start. (D-Lax) — Have to keep BU below Vanderbilt. (DallasLaxDad) — The Terriers continue to put a clamp on opponent offenses with a number of players stepping up defensively. Corcoran Downey and Rachel Collins both gain valuable possessions for BU as the Terriers make a case for the America East. (draw18) — Not a good week, losing to Duke, then Vandy decisively. #14. (Glaxrdaddy) — Lost to Duke and took it hard against Vandy. Up next is Harvard and Notre Dame. (Go Team) — #20 - Second consecutive loss drops Terriers to bottom of my rankings. (johnnyboy) — Losses to Duke and Vandy drop BU in my standings. (LadyLaker) — #14 A tough loss and then the wheels came off. (laxamerica) — Two losses this week drop the Terriers a few spots. Need to do better against ranked teams and not just in conference. We will see what they can do when the Irish come to visit this weekend. (Lionwatcher) — The Terriers drop, precipitously! This week they face Harvard and ND. Have they snowed us or are they real? Any loss this week could put them out of my 20! (Lucky Laxer) — Now 3-2, the Terriers unlucky number was 10 this week. They lost to Duke 6-10 and lost to Vanderbilt 5-10. What happened to these Boston Dawgs? What happened to the offense? Gotta score more than 5-6 goals! Team falls in the ranking this week. (MDLaxManiac) — 21. (mytwokeepers) — #12. Double setbacks to Duke and Vandy; offense has disappeared. (slides2) — Bad week on the road for the Terriers - with Harvard and Notre Dame up this week, a rebound won't be easy. (socrlaxdad) — Did not represent in a difficult week. (Turtles Lax) — Terriers have a “Battle of Savo Island” week getting sunk by both Duke and the Commodores of Vandy! (UnderArmourOdor) — The Terriers were making good upward progress until this last week. (WLaxinator)

Notre Dame: I'm still questioning the Fighting Irish. But, although the game against Cal went to OT, it was a win. So, I'll put ND at no. 13. (DallasLaxDad) — The Irish have veterans who can steady the squad, including Kailene Abt and Shaylyn Blaney. Jackie Doherty is playing tough for ND, and the Irish need to get her more help in the back. (draw18) — Not helping themselves going to OT with Cal. Must pick it up against BU and Vandy next week or will drop quickly. #9 for now. (Glaxrdaddy) — With BU and Vandy up this week, even a pot o' gold on St. Paddy's Day can't rescue the Irish. Players have quit, down to one GK. Where did we go wrong? Ranked 25th. (Go Team) — #15 - Irish pick up win but didn't expect Cal to play them that close. (johnnyboy) — Near loss to Cal sends them to my final slot. (LadyLaker) — #11 At least they won. (laxamerica) — I leave the Irish here, although the win against the Golden Bears was unimpressive. Golden Domers may be way too high at this spot. 'Goty is back, but that will not help the laxers. Need to hold serve against this Terriers this week. (Lionwatcher) — Losing to Dartmouth and going to OT against Cal? What's up with the Irish? Rumor has it that Touchdown Jesus was last seen with his bags packed at the train station. (Lucky Laxer) — While 3-1, the Irish of Notre Dame struggle for an OT 14-12 win over Cal. (MDLaxManiac) — 13. (mytwokeepers) — #14. Close win against weak Cal team. Irish have failed to impress thus far. (slides2) — Why couldn't this week's Irish-BU game be held on St. Patty's Day? Makes sense doesn't it? (socrlaxdad) — Irish OT victory over Cal Bears is like “Bougainville” they won’t make a miniseries out of it but a W is a W! (UnderArmourOdor) — UNRANKED: Notre Dame struggled against an unranked California??? Temporarily (?) out of my Top 20. Unfortunately for the Irish, the next game up is with Boston University. After some slippage of their own, the Terriers need to prove that they belong in the Top 20. (WLaxinator)

Loyola: Kerry Stoothoff is having an outstanding season for the Hounds, and she is getting a lot help from Ashley Moulton and Ana Heneberry. With Grace Gavin, Emily Gibson and Abby Rehfuss taking care of business up front, Loyola will be a factor in the Big East. (draw18) — Close game with unranked Cornell, at #17. (Glaxrdaddy) — Stopped the bleeding with win vs. Delaware. Followed up with decisive win over CHOMP CHOMP Gators. (Go Team) — #18 - Hounds get back on track with two decent wins this week. (johnnyboy) — Loyola conquers the Crayola circuit with wins over the Blue Hens and the Big Red. (LadyLaker) — #17 Two wins this week. (laxamerica) — Good week for the Hounds. Need to work a little more on every week being the same effort. This week is important for the Hounds with the Scarlet Knights and JMU, two tough outs, on the schedule. (Lionwatcher) — The TerpHounds gain re-entrance to my 20 with solid performances this week. With Rutgers and JMU on the menu, they've got some work this week. (Lucky Laxer) — Now 4-3, the Greyhounds had two wins this week with lucky number 9 for the Hounds GK. The Hounds took a bite out of the Delaware Blue Hens 15-9 and then Cornell 11-9. (MDLaxManiac) — 18. (mytwokeepers) — #15. Getting back on right track. (slides2) — 'Hounds will open their Big East campaign against Rutgers in their new home (Ridley Athletic Complex) this week. (socrlaxdad) — Had to beat Cornell. Did. Big, and necessary, win for the 'Hounds. (Turtles Lax) — Loyola gets a pair of wins like “Saipan and Guam” as they beat Hens and Big Red but like "Island Hopping" bigger targets await! (UnderArmourOdor)

Princeton: Easy Ivy win over Brown, showing some life? Next Saturday match with UVa will tell the story. #12. (Glaxrdaddy) — #23 - Ivy schedule will be the key to Princeton's hopes for an NCAA tournament spot. Tigers get good start with win over Brown. (johnnyboy) — Can't believe I am saying this but a good win for Princeton over Brown. (LadyLaker) — #18 Moves up one slot this week after a nice win at Brown - maturing. (laxamerica) — Recovered against Brown in a game that many seemed to think would be closer. Does this signal that Sailor has righted the ship? This week will tell with a visit from the Dukes and the Hoos. (Lionwatcher) — Princeton is ... I just don't know ... I know what they're not. They're not like any other recent Tiger team. Did the lady in the cat suit retire? (Lucky Laxer) — At 2-2, Princeton beat-up on Ivy League foe Brown 16-6 this week and have fallen out of the Top 20 in my ranking. (MDLaxManiac) — 17. (mytwokeepers) — #17. Necessary win against Brown. JMU is stiff test next. (slides2) — Tigers will host JMU and UVa this week. (socrlaxdad) — Beat hibernating bears. Hardly seems fair. (Turtles Lax) — Tigers gets a win over Brown like “Kwajalein” it isn’t going to be remembered by many but it helps morale at home! (UnderArmourOdor) — Princeton is my current #20. The sad part (for me) is that there will probably be those who feel I have ranked the Tigers too high. (WLaxinator)

William & Mary: Loss to BU, win over Navy puts William & Mary between those two teams at 18. (DallasLaxDad) — The Tribe are just a nice, steady, solid team from top to bottom. They have a number of players who can step up and make the big play. By the end of the season, this will be a team with which to reckon. (draw18) — Cavs visit this week, at #19. (Glaxrdaddy) — W&M should stay with UVa for a half as they can score goals. Should falter in 2nd half as they give up goals. (Go Team) — #21 - Despite Tribe sinking Navy this week, W&M loses out on the my top 20 spot to surging JMU. (johnnyboy) — Nice win over Navy. W&M continues its momentum. (LadyLaker) — #16 Handled Navy as they should have. (laxamerica) — Held the Middies in enough check to walk away with the W. UVa mid week will be a huge challenge. (Lionwatcher) — My beloved Tribe gets back into the 20 for three good reasons. 1) Nice win at NMCMS; 2) it will look better for the Hoos after UVa wins on Wednesday; and 3) because they ARE my beloved TRIBE! Look out, Pierce's BBQ and The Peanut Shoppe, here I come! And I most certainly will be wearing the green on St. Paddy's Day in the 'burg! (Lucky Laxer) — At 3-2, the Tribe get a win and slay Navy 14-9. (MDLaxManiac) — 19. (mytwokeepers) — #16. Puts paid to Navy aspirations. (slides2) — Tribe left it late to hand Navy their first loss. Huge St. Patty's Day match up with the 'Cavs ... think their green uniforms will help? (socrlaxdad) — Better be ready for the Wahoos as Lucky Laxer returns ... still in search of his diploma. (Turtles Lax) — Tribe stages a “Battle of Leyte Gulf” soundly sinking Navy but sets sail against the Hoo Armada mid week! (UnderArmourOdor) — William & Mary's earlier loss to a now downward bound Boston University is hurting the Tribe more now than it did before. (WLaxinator)

Hofstra: One-goal loss to Penn, OT win over Rutgers - but at 4-2, I just couldn't find a spot for Hofstra. (DallasLaxDad) — Corrine Gandolfi is leading the Pride back into the national discussion, and certainly into the CAA talks. With K’Leigh Vanaman, Courtney O’Connor, and Stephanie Rice providing support in the attack and Katie Hersch playing tough in the backfield, Hofstra will continue to rise. (draw18) — Give Penn a scare in Philly, 6-5, then take down Rutgers in OT, welcome to the top 20. (Glaxrdaddy) — Stony Brook and Oregon should be no challenge for a top 20 team like the Pride, or will it be? Both of their losses have been by one point. (Go Team) — #12 - Can a team play these good teams any tougher - one-goal losses to Penn and the Irish capped by a 2OT win vs. Rutgers. I like this Pride team. (johnnyboy) — Beats Rutgers and loses to Penn by 1. (LadyLaker) — Moves into my top 20 with the win against the Scarlet Knights and the tight game with the Quakers. A tough Stony Brook team is up this week. (Lionwatcher) — Got PRIDE? Hofstra gets my 20! Taking the Quakers to their limit and getting the against THE State University of New Jersey gets the new blood I like into the poll! (Lucky Laxer) — 14. (mytwokeepers) — #20. Almost take out Penn; slip past Rutgers in OT. (slides2) — The Pride deserve mention with a one-goal loss at Penn and beating Rutgers in OT. (socrlaxdad) — Ginormous win over Scarlet Knights. (Turtles Lax) — Hofstra played Penn close and defeated Rutgers. Welcome to the Top 20. (WLaxinator)

Ohio State: Ohio State re-emerges in the top 20, at 18 on my ballot, with their win over Louisville. (DallasLaxDad) — While Haggerty and Markwordt are having strong seasons again for the Buckeyes, Annie Carruthers and Maghan Beaudrault are also keeping Ohio State in the upper echelon. This is a deep team that will make waves. (draw18) — NU comes to town this week. Hold at #15. (Glaxrdaddy) — Just beat Louisville. GW and NU up next so no change seen for this week. (Go Team) — #22 - Buckeyes outlast Cardinals on Saturday to pick up two Ws this week. (johnnyboy) — Quietly winning. GW this week and the Big Cats come calling next week. (Lionwatcher) — 22. (mytwokeepers) — Buckeyes squeak by Louisville at home, have GWU on tap. (socrlaxdad) — Buckeyes season has been messy like “New Guinea” Campaign but it is hard fought like their one-goal win over L-ville! (UnderArmourOdor)

New Hampshire: A tough week for the Wildcats, who had hoped to make a stronger statement with a strong showing against the Terps and a solid regional win over Harvard. But do not overlook the strong play of Kate Keagins ... this team is not done yet. (draw18) — Expected loss to Maryland, unexpected OT loss to unranked Harvard. Just off the bubble. (Glaxrdaddy) — Tough loss to Harvard. Tough loss to unranked Harvard pulls them out of my top 20 to #21. (Go Team) — #11 - Wildcats learn the hard way what they'll need to be a top ranked team as they get spanked by the Terps. (johnnyboy) — #21 Maryland, I can understand, but Harvard? (laxamerica) — UNH: one week wonder. (Lucky Laxer) — Now 4-2, New Hampshire Wildcats lost a close one to Harvard in 2OTs 9-10 then lost big to the #1 team the Terps 6-20. That's gonna hurt the cats in the poll this week. (MDLaxManiac) — 23. (mytwokeepers) — #22. Expected loss to Maryland. It's the unexpected loss to Harvard that knocks UNH out of Top 20. (slides2) — Game effort vs. Terps. Suspect they will crack Top 20 later. Important to note they were NOT afraid of Terps. (Turtles Lax) — Has a week like the British in WWII; they expected to lose “Hong Kong” like they did to the Terps but “Singapore” OT surrender to Harvard is a blow to the ‘Cats Empire! (UnderArmourOdor) — UNRANKED: What goes up can also come down (for now). (WLaxinator)

James Madison: Wins over Fairfield and Richmond move the Dukes to no. 16 on my ballot. (DallasLaxDad) — Sneaky James Madison is 5-0 and sneaks into my top 20 at #19. How long will it last? They could lose the next three against Princeton, Loyola and UVa. Winning two of three would be awesome. (Go Team) — #19 - Richmond could learn a few things about scheduling from the Dukes as JMU keeps adding increasingly better wins to their 5-0 record to break into my top 20. (johnnyboy) — #22 Getting close to cracking my top 20. (laxamerica) — When will the others give these purple dogs some respect? I'm still trying to drum up some JMU love!!! (Lucky Laxer) — Now 5-0, the JMU Dukes beat the Yale Bulldogs 10-4, then squeaked-by in a very close one with the Fairfield Stags 12-11, and stomped the Richmond Spiders 21-8. (MDLaxManiac) — 20. (mytwokeepers) — #18. Off to an impressive start. (slides2) — 5-0 Dukes have their next five games against top 20 teams. (socrlaxdad) — First appearance in TL's poll. (Turtles Lax) — Dukes at 5-0 look like they have returned, like Gen MacArthur to the “Philippines,” but we shall see against five ranked teams in a row starting with Princeton. (UnderArmourOdor) — UNRANKED: James Madison continues to win games against unranked opponents that it should win. Upcoming games against Princeton and Loyola could finally buy them a ticket into the Top 20. (WLaxinator)

Rutgers: The loss to Hofstra drops Rutgers off my ballot. (DallasLaxDad) — Beat goalie-less St. Joe's, then lost to Hofstra in 2OT. On the bubble. (Glaxrdaddy) — Tough loss to Hofstra. The fun never stops! The SK's face Loyola 3/16, Denver 3/20 and Syr. 3/28. That is a tough schedule. (Go Team) — #16 - Big Red record their first loss to the Pride. (johnnyboy) — Just out of my Top 20. (LadyLaker) — #20 Barely hanging on in my poll after a tough loss to a rising Hofstra. (laxamerica) — Moves out with moving Hofstra in. (Lionwatcher) — Rutgers: one week wonder, but I'm thinking they'll be back!!! (Lucky Laxer) — Now 5-1, the Scarlet Knights beat St. Joe's 17-6 and then lost a close one to unranked Hofstra 9-10 in 2OTs! (MDLaxManiac) — 16. (mytwokeepers) — #23. Lose heart-breaker to Hofstra. (slides2) — Scarlet Knights suffer their first loss - a tough 2OT affair at Hofstra. Can they rebound as they open Big East play at Loyola? I'm thinking no. (socrlaxdad) — Knights think they have repulsed Hofstra but like "Wake Island" the Pride come back in OT and surrendering unbeaten status is painful! (UnderArmourOdor) — Still ranked higher than Princeton. (WLaxinator)

Denver: The Pioneers should be solidly in the poll at 6-2. On my ballot at no. 12. (DallasLaxDad) — Idle this week, Rutgers up next 3/20. (Go Team) — Now 6-2, the Denver Pioneers deserve some recognition! (MDLaxManiac) — #21. Weakness of schedule is liability. Legitimate test with Rutgers next week. (slides2) — Another team with a two-week mid-season break. Why? Someone please enlighten TL. (Turtles Lax) — After their “Doolittle Raid” five-game winning streak; they have taken two weeks off to refit for Rutgers and the MPSF battles! (UnderArmourOdor)

Johns Hopkins: Cracking my Top 20 for the 1st time in recent memory: the Blue Jays! Gator decimation and a near victory over Towson ... welcome to the big league, ladies! (LadyLaker) — #19 I seem to be the only one giving them respect but with these close losses, are they headed towards being this year's JMU? Did better against Florida than Georgetown. (laxamerica) — 24. (mytwokeepers) — Surprising, to TL, huuuuge victory over Gators. (Turtles Lax) — Loss to Gators would have been to Charm City what the "Firebombing" was to Tokyo! (UnderArmourOdor) — UNRANKED: Johns Hopkins' decisive win against Florida keeps them out of the ALC basement. (WLaxinator)

Fairfield: The loss to James Madison keeps the Stags off my ballot. (DallasLaxDad) — 4-1 You had your chance. Sorry. (Go Team) — Fairfield makes going "Stag" a great thing! (LadyLaker) — Stags just might need some more time before they'll stick in the top 20. (Lucky Laxer) — 25. (mytwokeepers) — #24. Still hanging around after close loss to JMU. (slides2) — Win over Q-piac doesn't help. (Turtles Lax)

Louisville: Louisville falls off my ballot with the loss to Ohio State. (DallasLaxDad) — #24 - Wish I could have seen this back and forth game in person between the Cardinals and OSU. But Louisville comes out on short end of first blemish on their record. (johnnyboy) — One-goal loss to the Buckeyes is the only blemish on the Cardinals' record. (socrlaxdad)

Navy: The game against William & Mary, although it was a loss, showed the Mids are legit. With their 8-1 record, I've got them at no. 20. (DallasLaxDad) — Great effort vs. the Tribe. Good to see the Mids playing a team ranked higher than they are and doing so well against them. (LadyLaker) — USNA: Great show against my beloved solidifies their position at ... 21! (Lucky Laxer) — Mids bounce back from W&M loss with their 8th win ... this time at Lafayette. (socrlaxdad) — 8-1. At least they're playing. Denver and Stanford, pay attention. (Turtles Lax) — Loss to W&M could have been like the "Indianapolis" (Capn Quint and dolls eyes!) but Mids bounce back against Lafayette. (UnderArmourOdor)

Boston College: Now 5-0, with a win this week over an ACC team, the Eagles belong in the poll. On my ballot at 17. (DallasLaxDad)

Oregon:

Other Teams Pollsters Considered (and comments, if any)

Harvard: Harvard may be this year's sleeper team. Stronger schedule will put them to the test. (D-Lax)

Villanova:

Lehigh: I keep wondering if the Mountain Hawks belong on my ballot. But, their 5-0 records comes against five teams with losing records, so for now they remain in the comments section. (DallasLaxDad) — 5-0 now, next up Fairfield. (Go Team)

Massachusetts: Minutewomen score their first win over Yale since '98, then a bad loss to Stony Brook in the monsoon on Saturday. (Glaxrdaddy)

Florida: Ok, can we stop hearing about Florida now? (Go Team) — UNRANKED: Florida fans may have had their hopes up after the close loss to Georgetown (was Ricky Fried just having fun with them?). But then Gator Nation had its hopes dashed at Homewood on a rainy day in Baltimore ... Johns Hopkins 16, Florida 8. (WLaxinator)

Drexel: #25 - The 6-1 Dragons and other teams I'd like to give votes to such as 5-0 Lehigh, 4-1 Fairfield, and 5-0 Boston College are all off to a good start. Looking for one or more of them to knock off a higher ranked team on the schedule. (johnnyboy) — Now 7-1, the Drexel Dragons are starting out strong with only loss to UPenn! (MDLaxManiac)

Connecticut: Now 6-1, UConn lost its first game of the season to UMass and has won 6 straight. Let's wait and see how they do against stronger opponents deeper in the schedule. (MDLaxManiac)
