Pollsters' Comments About Teams They Ranked

Northwestern: Nice wins over Notre Dame and Virginia haven't changed my ranking of Florida no. 1, Northwestern no. 2 - pending, of course, the ALC tournament and even another possible rematch in the Big Dance. (DallasLaxDad) — Two big-margin wins take them to 16-1. ALC's up next. Can't see a scenario were they're not a Top 4 seed. #1. (fanofall) — #1. Wildcats still my top ranked team in this last pre-NCAA tournament TOPTM poll. NU has turned away all challengers save one. NCAA odds to take it all 3:1. These odds are purely for entertainment purposes and NOT for the off-site betting pool being conducted by Lucky Laxer. (johnnyboy) — #1. Rolling again. #1 because they consistantly play to their potential. Staying in top 3 likely, and that means a likely trip to LI. RPI is #1. (Justalaxdad) — There's something about the coach. Her teams sometimes bend, but rarely break. They do not get flustered when down a few and keeping working, one goal at a time. This year's team wins games on the defensive end, and you know what they say. ALC tourney should be a dandy. (Lionwatcher) — #1. In deference to a kinder, gentler Laxworld, I move that we do away with NU's "Dynasty by a Thousand Championships" and award all tournament teams Participation Medals and a party at Chuck-e-Cheese! (Lucky Laxer) — Now 16-1, the NU Wildcat machine tears up Notre Dame and Virginia. Was the one loss to UF just a bad day and game for the Cats? (MDLaxManiac) — #1. In my final regular season poll, I see Northwestern as the favorite to win the National Championship, so they get the #1 slot. (mytwokeepers) — No. two (2). Up from 3. Only down here as to belief Syracuse on-a-mission. KAH vs. GG, whom do YOU see getting this done? (Rafterjack) — #1. Send Notre Dame packing early. Overcome lousy first half against Virginia. (slides2) — 'Cats bounced back after the Gator upset with two very solid wins over the Irish and the Cavs. Still, they are the #2 ALC seed heading into the conference tourney. (socrlaxdad) — #1. Big in 2nd half to down usually (always?) inconsistent Cavaliers. (Turtles Lax) — Purple Empire keeps the deathstar at home to crush Irish resistance and use final 20 minutes of force to send the Hoos home chastised for leading at the half. (UnderArmourOdor)

Syracuse: Orange stay at #1 continuing on a 14-game win streak. Who's next? (D-Lax) — The Orange finally pull ahead of North Carolina on my ballot and land at no. 3. (DallasLaxDad) — Barely slip by the Hounds. Need to win two tough games vs. the BE competition, or they leave the door open for UNC. #3. (fanofall) — #2. There is clearly a consensus on the top 5 teams in women's lacrosse this year by all polls and computer rankings. But as the Orange demonstrated in their narrow OT victory over Loyola, each of them is vulnerable not only to one another but also to a bottom 15 teams. We WILL see an NCAA upset or two. NCAA odds to win it all: 4:1. (johnnyboy) — #2. Let Loyola slip back into game but still won. Believe they can get it done. Winning Big East Tournament keeps them in top 3 and avoid a nasty game with #5 seed. RPI is #2. (Justalaxdad) — Did not overwhelm the Hounds, who did not overwhelm the undermanned Huskies. Does that mean that the Orange is suspect? Still, I think they will earn the trip across the GWB for Memorial Day weekend. (Lionwatcher) — #2. Gait takes his team to my #2 and challenges KAH to a winner-take-all "Whack-a-Mole" contest. (Lucky Laxer) — Now 15-2, the Syracuse Orange are rolling with Big East wins over Loyola and Villanova. Two (2) losses this year (UVa and NU) were by a mere 2 goals, 2 and 2 could be 22 Coach Gait's number as a player, hmmm. (MDLaxManiac) — #2. Ending the season with a 14-game win streak is VERY impressive. 'Cuse gets my #2 slot. (mytwokeepers) — No. one (1). No change. I remain enamored of idea that Coach Gait and Co. are headed for championship round, likely vs. Gators, my early guess. (Rafterjack) — #2. Barely escape Loyola comeback, but cannot punish Orange for winning. (slides2) — The Orange carry a 14-game win streak into the Big East tourney semifinals ... in the Carrier Dome. Who would bet against them? Projected #3 NCAA seed. (socrlaxdad) — #2. Narrowly over very competitive pack of 'Hounds. A do-over with said 'Hounds looms on the horizon. (Turtles Lax) — Orange hold off Hounds on a balmy spring night in Syracuse and pummel V-Cats before a rematch with Hoya Paranoia, who they defeated already this season! (UnderArmourOdor)

Florida: I had Florida at no. 1 after the Gators' win over Northwestern, and nothing happened this week to change that. Looking forward to the ALC tournament. (DallasLaxDad) — Need to keep winning to get their Top 4 seed. The ALC's in Gainesville is a huge advantage. #2. (fanofall) — #3. With no game this week, Coach O'Leary had the team shampooing the Astroswamp turf in preparation for hosting the ALC tournament. NCAA odds 4:1. (johnnyboy) — #3. Clearly can beat anyone, and next year's favorite for sure. I think their goaltending and balanced attack may make them the favorite this time next week for 2012, but ALC tournament in the Swamp will show us. RPI is #4. (Justalaxdad) — Sitting back in the swamp, licking their lips waiting to get the ALC bait in sight. If they knock off the Cats, a top four seed awaits, if not probably the 5 seed. Not bad for a new program, but not where you want to be this year. (Lionwatcher) — #4. Florida was the lone "nay" in the Chuck-e-Cheese motion. Per the team, "It's too close to summer time to risk the extra carbs ..." (Lucky Laxer) — Now 15-2, the Florida Gators had the week off to rest, restock, repair, reload, re-tan, rejuvenate, and get ready to finish the season strong! (MDLaxManiac) — #3. With two losses (my #4 UNC and my #2 'Cuse) and a win over my #1, the Florida Gators settle in at #3. (mytwokeepers) — No. three (3). Down 1. But don't see UFA, as Dean TL, I think, you, TL ... calls my lad Tim Tebow's college, emerging eventually as champs. CAN place them in final match, though. (Rafterjack) — #3. Sitting pretty in the Swamp, awaiting ALC rivals to come on down for some southern non-hospitality. (slides2) — Gators have the toughest defense I've seen this year - only giving up 6.6 goals/game. If they can hold that line through the ALC semis and (presumably) finals - which they will host - then they could be the overall NCAA #1 seed. (socrlaxdad) — #5. Awaiting the ALC's, but sad they won't get a repeat match vs. Fresno State. Even offered the Bulldogs a guest ALC membership. Nibble, nibble. (Turtles Lax) — ALC regular season champs sit in the swamp and tan while waiting for the tourney. (UnderArmourOdor)

Maryland: Terps move up to #3 after dominating the Tar Heels in the ACC tourney. (D-Lax) — Wondering if we will see another Maryland-North Carolina match-up in the NCAA quarters for a spot in the Final Four. The Terps move ahead of the Tar Heels with the ACC tourney win and settle at no. 4. (DallasLaxDad) — The Terps salvage their season with an ACC crown and I think at minimum the #4 seed. #4. (fanofall) — #4. ACC champs avoid hangover loss to G'town and prepare for the NCAA tournament. NCAA odds 4:1. (johnnyboy) — #4. Terps were scary good at times versus Heels. Clearly the most dominate run against a top 5 team this year. Up 13-7 with 12 to play! Ouch. Their stars are better than your stars. RPI is #3. (Justalaxdad) — Terps tuned up at just the right time. I was wondering what was going on in Terp Town, but it was just spreading their shells. My pick for the third spot on Strong Island, but seeding is going to be critical as the 4/5 game will be a whopper. (Lionwatcher) — #3. Despite initially approving the "Participation Medal/Chuck-e-Cheese" motion, the Terps have requested their Party be held at McDonalds. Turns out Chuck's signed with Converse and Ronald Protects His HOUSE! (Lucky Laxer) — Now 17-3, the Maryland Terps beat UNC in ACC play and chained down the Georgetown Bulldogs. A Hoya is a bulldog, right? Do we need to spend a lot of money at a fancy university to call bulldogs Hoyas? Channeling Andy Rooney? (MDLaxManiac) — #4. The Terps capture the #4 slot by the tiniest of margins over UNC based on their ACC championship victory. I really think these two are in a virtual tie, but LaxPower in its infinite wisdom doesn't allow ties by its pollsters. Soooo. (mytwokeepers) — No four (4). Up 1. Did what they needed to do in winning ACC. Remain close to top. Hey, an easy chip shot! (Rafterjack) — #4. With Schwarzmann playing brilliantly, with KEJ healthy and doing her thing, with the emergence of Aust as a great feeder, and with the young defense growing under Sanza's lead, Terps are steadily making the case that they, in fact, are the team to beat. (slides2) — The Terps nice run through the ACC tourney threw a wrench into my "locked" top 4 NCAA seeds. The "new" NCAA #4 seed. (socrlaxdad) — #3. Your Turtles came up big with important win over Jack's pals. Oh, and they beat the Blue Meanies for the championship of the whole ACC!!!! (Turtles Lax) — Only two days after getting revenge on Blue Meanies they spank the Hoyas on Senior Night in the last ever match-up as those 11 miles are now a bottomless ego chasm apart! (UnderArmourOdor)

North Carolina: Off game when it really counts--lose the ACC title game and drop to #5. (D-Lax) — The Tar Heels fall to no. 5 win the loss to the Terps in the ACC tournament final. (DallasLaxDad) — Needs help from others to get the good tickets to the Dance. #5. (fanofall) — #5. UNC now enters the NCAA tournament in the shadow of the Terps and perhaps as a fifth seed. NCAA odds 4:1. (johnnyboy) — #5. Likely #5 seed in NCAA, making a third set with Terps a possibility in Elite 8. No one wants to see this team coming to their house in three weeks. RPI is #5. (Justalaxdad) — The Heels did not look good against the Turtles. They did not seem like the team that I had seen earlier in the season, including against the Cats. Not sure how the NCAA sees things, but I think that the Heels and the Gators are looking at the 4/5 now, and that is not where you want to be. (Lionwatcher) — #5. Not to further the contention that UNC plays too roughly, but the Federation of Chapel Hill Chuck-e-Cheeses has red-carded the entire team, banning them from the next party. An unnamed source tells of Whack-a-Mole turning into Whack-a-Chuck-e. (Lucky Laxer) — Now 14-3, the Carolina Tar Heels lost by 4 to Maryland in ACC play and ouch, that gonna hurt them in this week's ranking. (MDLaxManiac) — #5. The Tar Heels drop one spot to #5 by the tiniest of margins based on their ACC championship loss to MD. I really think these two are a virtual tie, but LaxPower doesn't allow for ties! (mytwokeepers) — No five (5). Mostly from what I hear as too rough play, I ease the Heels on down (from very best category, currently). Down 1. (Rafterjack) — #5. Plus Áa change: Heels play like world-beaters in early April but can't deliver in the big time. (slides2) — 'Heels tripped up in the ACC final ... now just have to await their NCAA seeding. Projetced #5. (socrlaxdad) — #4. Regular season done ... lotsa opponents quite pleased. Let the heeling begin. :-) (Turtles Lax) — Blue Meanies sit at home and stew over another blown opportunity in the ACCs. (UnderArmourOdor)

Notre Dame: Big opening game vs. Loyola in Big East Tourney on Thursday will test the Irish. -#6. (D-Lax) — The loss to the Wildcats dropped Notre Dame's RPI down one spot, to 7, but the Irish remain no. 6 on my ballot. Probably need a win over Loyola to secure a seed and the chance to avoid another trip to Evanston in the first round of the NCAAs. (DallasLaxDad) — Losing to the Cats isn't that bad, but the margin raises eyebrows. Losses by others keep the Irish at #6. (fanofall) — #7. It is hard to keep a team in the top 10 when they come off a loss. My rationalization is their loss came at the hands of NU and their only other losses were to Syracuse and Loyola. Need to avoid a Big East tournament early exit. NCAA odds 10:1. (johnnyboy) — #7. Loss to Wildcats and win over Bearcats as expected. Big East tournament on deck. RPI is #7. (Justalaxdad) — Okay, this is the kind of year it is. The Irish get a wood-shedding on the Lake, and because the States (Penn and Ohio) spit the bit, the Irish move up two spots, at least that is what the dart board says. (Lionwatcher) — #6. Turns out the Luck of the Irish ended with the Evil Empire. Apparently the Leprechaun and Touchdown Jesus missed the flight to Evilston. (Lucky Laxer) — Now 13-3, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish had a 50/50 week, first a loss by 10 to NU and then a romp and stomp win over Cincy by 20! (MDLaxManiac) — #6. Notre Dame climbs to #6. (mytwokeepers) — No seven (7). Up 1. Hanging in there are Irish by winning. (Rafterjack) — #11. Disappointing showing at Lakeside. Rout of Cincy doesn't count for much. (slides2) — Irish take on Loyola in the Big East semis ... what's really at stake is an NCAA seed between 5-8. (socrlaxdad) — #16. Interesting score versus Cincy. Just two goals yielded by Irish. TL had to go to the videotape. Signs of life in long dead Green and Gold D? We shall see. (Turtles Lax) — Irish take a 10-goal beating from mad stormtroopers before turning around and embarrassing the Bearcats ... Nakedcats??? (UnderArmourOdor)

Duke: The Blue Devils weren't competitive in the ACC semis against Maryland, but, after their shellacking of the Ivy League champs, I'm moving Duke ahead of all the Ivies, to no. 13. (DallasLaxDad) — 13. (fanofall) — #6. This number 6 spot seems to be cursed, as no team has yet to hold onto it for any length of time. With their win over Penn and other contender losses, I hearby am putting the hex on Duke. NCAA odds 10:1. (johnnyboy) — #6. Convincing win versus Ivy (Penn) so I move them ahead of Lions. RPI is #8. (Justalaxdad) — Knocked off a clearly off-par Quaker team. Will get a top eight, but which one? Can they be a real spoiler and make it to the Island? (Lionwatcher) — #8. Perhaps I was too harsh in ranking Duke 14th last week. They're not nearly as schizophrenic as UVa, and beating Penn surely helps. (Lucky Laxer) — Now 11-6, the Duke Blue Devils beat UPenn. (MDLaxManiac) — #14. Numbers 10 through 16 are a virtual tie between OSU, UVa, Cornell, Loyola, Duke, Dartmouth, and UPenn. (mytwokeepers) — No. eight (8). Up 1. Are getting it well together late. (Rafterjack) — #6. My 6-10 teams last week all lost in a clean sweep. Maybe we should just skip from 5 to 11. Need someone to fill this hole, so I elect Duke for their strong showing against Penn. (slides2) — The Dookies really helped their NCAA positioning by thumping the Quakers - projected NCAA seed is #7/8. (socrlaxdad) — #10. Wow! Easily over Penn in a most important game. Should get the Devils into the dance. (Turtles Lax) — Devils shake off semifinal loss and show some ACC domination with some Ivy revenge for bad loss to Big Green by shutting out punch-less Quakes in second half in Durham! (UnderArmourOdor)

Penn State: The OT loss to Princeton probably ended the chance of first round game in Happy Valley, absent a good run in the ALC tournament. The Nittany Lions need a win over Johns Hopkins to rest easy while awaiting the tournament selections. No. 9 on my ballot. (DallasLaxDad) — Lose to Princeton, REALLY! Almost put yourself on the bubble and need a convincing win vs. The Hop to make up. Help from others keep them #8. (fanofall) — #9. Princeton loss is only one I can't rationalize and timing of such is poor. Despite that, I'm keeping the Nittanies here in my rankings based on their body of work. Need to get to ALC semis to get a ticket to NCAA tournament. NCAA odds 10:1. (johnnyboy) — #8. Lose to Princeton a tough one. Just as they were looking like the best of the rest, they stumble. RPI is #11. (Justalaxdad) — Might have been fighting for a top 8, now the ALC tourney will be critical. How can you let Princeton out smart you this year? I want to throw up. (Lionwatcher) — #7. Shea U loses the cat fight with Princeton. Never underestimate the power of that Lady in the Cat Suit. (Lucky Laxer) — Now 11-5, the Penn State Nittany Lions lost a close one by 1 in OT to Princeton. (MDLaxManiac) — #9. I have been "OK" with Penn State's first four losses - MD, Loyola, Florida, and NU - but this loss to Princeton has me confused since I don't think highly of the Tigers. Oh well, PSU drops three slots to #9 and Princeton returns to my poll for the first time in weeks at #20. (mytwokeepers) — No. nine (9). Down 2. Looked past Ivy "loser" ... thinking couldn't bite. Ouch! (Rafterjack) — #8. Lose to Princeton team that is better than advertised here on poll. (slides2) — Loss to Princeton hurts the Nittany Lions NCAA hopes even before the ALC tourney gets started. (socrlaxdad) — #12. Oh, dear; what a wasted opportunity against a perceived "stick a fork in 'em, they're done" Princeton team. Now absolutely MUST win next Hopkins game. (Turtles Lax) — Never a good time to take a bad loss at home to an unranked team, but now two weeks after beating them they get a recharged Hop! (UnderArmourOdor)

Cornell: The Big Red get a chance for revenge against Dartmouth on Friday and land at no. 17. (DallasLaxDad) — #11. (fanofall) — #14. I think the Big Red might be dangerous in the upcoming Ivy tournament. They have had two weeks to get their record healthy and time to look ahead and prepare. Need to get to the Ivy tourney final to get in the NCAA, IMO. NCAA odds 15:1. (johnnyboy) — #10. Rolling along and ready for Ivy playoff. It only means everything, but I like their chances. RPI of #13. (Justalaxdad) — Still have the bunch of Ivy together. I have them 11-13, but it might be 15-17 or some other trio. (Lionwatcher) — #10. The third place team in the Ivies gets my highest Ivy ranking. Does that tell you the type of year it's been? It's so bad that Rafter is speaking in complete sentences! (Lucky Laxer) — Now 11-4, the Cornell Big Red gets two wins, the defense only allowed 8 goals in both games while the offense doubled up on Binghamton and Brown. (MDLaxManiac) — #12. Numbers 10 through 16 are a virtual tie between OSU, UVa, Cornell, Loyola, Duke, Dartmouth, and UPenn. (mytwokeepers) — No. eleven (11). Seem currently best of Ivy. See how they fare in Philly. Parity, "in situ" a la Ivy Group. (Rafterjack) — #14. Maybe I'm under-appreciating Big Red at 14. Ivy tourney will tell all. (slides2) — The Big Red will need to extend their three-game win streak through the Ivy tournament to host a first-round NCAA game. (socrlaxdad) — #9. Big over Bears. This is a puzzling team with a couple improbable losses yet some decisive wins versus strong opponents. Not sure TL has slotted them correctly. (Turtles Lax) — Big Red get two expected wins and with late collapses of PSU and OSU get into the Top 10 to be the top of the Ivy for this week??? (UnderArmourOdor)

Virginia: The early season magic is gone, as the Hoos fall to 11-7 and to no. 19 on my ballot. (DallasLaxDad) — #12. (fanofall) — #8. I don't think the Hoos have the wherewithal to go the distance. However, their young team has a season of maturing behind them and are capable of knocking off a higher seed. NCAA odds 10:1. (johnnyboy) — #11. Lost to the Wildcats but led them for a while. Think they get in easily with 12-7 record and #10 RPI. (Justalaxdad) — Came to the Lake (which looked a bit like the North Atlantic) to play a 40-minute game. Unfortunately the rules say 60. (Lionwatcher) — #13. My Beloved II gets soundly beaten by UNC and NU in their last two games, and I move them up three spots from last week? Maybe I am biased ... or maybe they deserve it. I surely don't have a clue. I hope they do! (Lucky Laxer) — Now 11-7, the UVa Cavaliers lost by 7 to NU. (MDLaxManiac) — #11. Numbers 10 through 16 are a virtual tie between OSU, UVa, Cornell, Loyola, Duke, Dartmouth, and UPenn. (mytwokeepers) — No. six (6). No change, change, change (echo) as 'Hoos been holding here ... Tough ACC is all I have to offer. Virginia hung in there (over time) and get my ... approbation, commendation, praise! (Rafterjack) — #9. Defense stonewalls Northwestern for one half but can't sustain for 60 minutes. (slides2) — 'Cavs are the best seven-loss team out there ... and that's probably enough to make the NCAA tourney. (socrlaxdad) — #13. Game against EE but lost game. (Turtles Lax) — Hoos have the empire 6-6 inside of 20 minutes before they run out of fuel and canít complete the back to back weekend upsets at Catooine! (UnderArmourOdor)

Loyola: Strong surges brought the Hounds close to pulling off the upset, but a one-goal loss to the Orange brings them up to #9. (D-Lax) — The Greyhounds climb to no. 8 despite a 1-1 week. They were impressive against Syracuse, despite the loss, and rebounded nicely against UConn. The Big East tournament should be fun to watch. (DallasLaxDad) — Played Cuse so close; gets another chance next week. #9. (fanofall) — #11. It was supposed to be the powerful Orange combined with adverse weather the young Greyhounds were facing last Friday, but Loyola redefined "Northern Exposure" by showing the women's lacrosse world that Syracuse is vulnerable. Despite the loss, I'm keeping the Hounds here. NCAA odds 12:1. (johnnyboy) — #14. Played Orangewomen tough. RPI of #12 means they are on the bubble for a bid. (Justalaxdad) — Close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades, so too bad they were playing lacrosse, but a nice showing nonetheless. Are the Hounds beginning to chase the rabbit? Underwhelmed against the Huskies. Big East prom will be interesting, because I think the Hoyas and the Hounds may be fighting for a chance to fish in May. (Lionwatcher) — #11. A one-goal Orange loss at the frozen tundra and taking care of UConn puts these Dogs squarely in the race for the Big East championship. Next up, the Irish, whom they've beaten, but are ranked below. Win it, and they will likely get the rematch with Syracse. At least this game will be indoors. (Lucky Laxer) — Now 11-5, the Loyola Greyhounds had a 50/50 week, first a 1-goal loss to Syracuse then a 3-goal win over UConn in Big East play. (MDLaxManiac) — #13. Numbers 10 through 16 are a virtual tie between OSU, UVa, Cornell, Loyola, Duke, Dartmouth, and UPenn. (mytwokeepers) — #7. Bump Hounds up, even though they lost to Syracuse and struggled past UConn, on suspicion that they are one of the few teams that can give one of the top 5 a run for their money. (slides2) — 'Hounds will lock up an NCAA bid with a Big East semifinal win over Notre Dame. A loss and it's "Bubble City, baby!" (socrlaxdad) — #8. Gave Da 'Cuse a game and bit the Huskies to hold serve for the Big East tourney. Validate ranking but slip just a tad. (Turtles Lax) — Hounds are in the Iditarod race with Cuse but canít bring home that sled ... I mean upset ... up and down but I know Irish donít want to have this dogfight again! (UnderArmourOdor)

Massachusetts: The A-10 champs have all but secured a tournament spot, even if upset in the play-in game. A win in the play-in game probably secures a first round game in Amherst. The Minutewomen have earned the no. 7 spot on my ballot. (DallasLaxDad) — #17. (fanofall) — #10. Minutewomen take conference regular season and tournament and are on their way to the dance. NCAA odds 12:1. (johnnyboy) — #9. Didn't stumble and had a convincing win over the Spiders to win A-10. Will play MAAC champion Canisius on May 6th. RPI of 6 means they should play a home game in NCAA if they beat Canisius. (Justalaxdad) — Won the tourney. Likely to win the play-in to get to the real tourney. Then people will see that they can play and play hard they do. (Lionwatcher) — #9. 18-1. Repeat after me: 18-1. Repeat: 18-1. Noch einmal: 18-1. повторе́ни|е: 18-1. No matter how you say it, the A-10 champs, three years running, deserve to be highly ranked. (Lucky Laxer) — Now 18-1, the UMass Minutewomen beat GW by 14 goals and Richmond by 5 goals. (MDLaxManiac) — #8. 18 and 1 can't be denied, but I'm still looking to be impressed. (mytwokeepers) — No ten (10). Up from 13. Despite weak schedule IMHO, Minutewomen keep doing it right! (Rafterjack) — #16. A-10 champs yet again. Would like to move Minutewomen up but need to see them against ranked competition. (slides2) — 18-1 Minutewomen win their fourth straight A10 title. (socrlaxdad) — #7. ZooMASS sure can put up big numbers. Spiders learned that fact. (Turtles Lax) — Minutemen beat Spiders in Richmond for A10, so I move them up. Not sure they should be this high, but lots of teams ahead of them came up small! (UnderArmourOdor)

Ohio State: The Buckeyes put themselves on the bubble with the loss to Johns Hopkins and need to make amends with a good run in the ALC tournament - and, a "good run" will encounter the Gators in the second round. Ohio State is no. 10. (DallasLaxDad) — Loss to JHU hurts post season chances; monumental effort in conference tournament only hope now. #10. (fanofall) — #12. I hope OSU is a better squad than the one I saw at JHU. I'll give them some benefit of the doubt since the Buckeyes had little to gain and the Blue Jays had some respectability to restore after the UMBC loss. OSU needs to get to ALC tournament final to get a bid to the dance, IMO. NCAA odds 15:1. (johnnyboy) — #25. Surprising second half of season when it seemed they were the clear ALC #3. Tied for last, limping home. Won't win 3 in the Swamp. RPI is #26. (Justalaxdad) — Five words for you: Hopkins on a hot day. OSU needs to play huge in the ALC cotillion. (Lionwatcher) — #14. Say again? They lost to whom? No way! But they had a 6-game losing streak! The unbelievable happens in Buckeyeville: WLax loses to JHU and the football team goes the entire spring season without an arrest. (Lucky Laxer) — Now 10-5, the Ohio State Buckeyes lost by 3 to Johns Hopkins in ALC play. (MDLaxManiac) — #10. Numbers 10 through 16 are a virtual tie between OSU, UVa, Cornell, Loyola, Duke, Dartmouth, and UPenn. (mytwokeepers) — No. twelve (12). Are Buckeyes some, "staggering" under their late load? (Rafterjack) — #13. Buckeyes have taken unexplainable downward trajectory in ALC play. (slides2) — Buckeyes need to beat Vandy and then upset the Wildcats for any shot at the NCAA tourney. (socrlaxdad) — #18. Good grief, Buckeyes. Did you implode or explode? What is going on in C-Bus? Now have to win rematch versus Vandy for any post-season hope. (Turtles Lax) — Buckeyes take the pipe on Senior Day at Homewood and Hop right out of top 10! (UnderArmourOdor)

Dartmouth: Two weeks ago, the Big Green had the inside track to an NCAA berth. Back-to-back losses may have created a situation where Dartmouth must win the Ivy tournament to get to the Big Dance. No. 18. (DallasLaxDad) — #7. (fanofall) — #18. Dartmouth giving unintended but new meaning to "going green." Only hope for NCAA tourney bid is to win Ivy tournament. NCAA odds 20:1. (johnnyboy) — #15. Loss to Harvard means they're the ones going south in the Ivy. Tournament gives them all a chance. RPI of #15 means they likely must win to ensure a spot. (Justalaxdad) — I am leaving Cornell, Dartmouth, and Penn in a bunch of Ivy, but should Harvard be part of the bunch? Strong possibility that only the Ivy auto drives to the dance. (Lionwatcher) — #15. Turns out the Big Green took their Theodor Seuss Geisel assignment too seriously. They became so immersed in their study of Hooville they played like UVa the past two games. (Lucky Laxer) — Now 10-4, the Dartmouth Big Green lost to Harvard in Ivy League play. (MDLaxManiac) — #15. Numbers 10 through 16 are a virtual tie between OSU, UVa, Cornell, Loyola, Duke, Dartmouth, and UPenn. (mytwokeepers) — No. fourteen (14). With Ignatius Loyola, and the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) we might surely say, Hanoverians "perfecting the virtue of humility ... " But with John Bowring we can also say, "Watchman, tell us of the night, what its signs of promise are ...? " Dartmouth must win Ivy tourney- certainly at least one game, to remain viable for NCAA bid and ... some self-respect. (Rafterjack) — #10. Big Green just not the same away from the woods. Still think they are best of the Ivy bunch, but that may be damning with faint praise. (slides2) — The Ivy tourney will make or break the Big Green's season. (socrlaxdad) — #25. Oh, dear. Rafterjack, we hardly knew ye. Late season breakdown costs Green some tournament green. (Turtles Lax) — Rafterman hating trip to the old stadium next to that Dirty Water as Big Green hope poll free fall will stop at Ivy Tourney! (UnderArmourOdor)

Penn: The Quakers jump ahead of their conference foes with their Ivy championship and land at no. 14. (DallasLaxDad) — #14. (fanofall) — #13. It took little more than a week, but the Ivy rankings went all topsy turvy on us with the Quakers emerging as hosts to this week's conference tournament. NCAA odds 15:1. (johnnyboy) — #16. Hammered by Duke. RPI is #14. Need at least one win to get in the show. (Justalaxdad) — Beat Princeton. In that past that was a big deal. Not this year. Ivy not growing on me this year. (Lionwatcher) — #17. It's the last TOPTM of the regular season and I'm going unconventional, at least by my standards, and ranking an 8-6 team. Some might say I'm compromising my standards; however, I choose to think of it as broadening my bribe base. (Lucky Laxer) — Now 8-6, the UPenn Quakers had a 50/50 week, first a 5-goal win over Princeton in Ivy league play then a 7-goal loss to Duke. That Ivy league is wacky this year. (MDLaxManiac) — #16. Numbers 10 through 16 are a virtual tie between OSU, UVa, Cornell, Loyola, Duke, Dartmouth, and UPenn. (mytwokeepers) — No. thirteen (13). Quakers again prevail in Ivy! Congratulations! Tourney in always tough Franklin Field. (Rafterjack) — #12. Big win over Princeton to garner Ivy tourney home advantage. Fall flat against Duke. (slides2) — Quakers are the Ivy tourney #1 seed. If they win it all, they should be a top 8 NCAA seed. (socrlaxdad) — #23. Anything can happen in Ivy tourney. But even the Ivy League grand poobahs probably don't yet know who's playing in it. Ha! (Turtles Lax) — Coaches had them top 10 and they came thru for them in Durham ... where is my sarcasm font? (UnderArmourOdor)

Towson: At 15-3 and with the ninth best RPI, the CAA champs might have earned a tournament spot irrespective of the result of the play-in game. The Tigers are no. 11 on my ballot. (DallasLaxDad) — CAA champs. The Tigers may or may not make it to SBU, but they'll be dancing and they got game, a legit #15. (fanofall) — #15. Three weeks ago, the tables were all set in their respective conferences as Denver, Dartmouth, UNC, Stony Brook, and NU were undefeated in conference play and seemed the odds on favorite to be their league champs. Well only Towson will be able to make that claim now. Tigers haven't WOWed anyone but all those one and two goal victories are Ws. NCAA odds 15:1. (johnnyboy) — #13. Towson wins CAA in a thriller. Won four of last five games by 1 goal and have a 9-game winning streak. Monmouth awaits in the play-in game. RPI of #9. (Justalaxdad) — Towson Tigers duke it out with the Dukes and come out on top. How far can they go? (Lionwatcher) — #12. CAA and Go Team Champs have now earned the pleasure of a play-in game against Monmouth. I like their chances! (Lucky Laxer) — Now 15-3, the Towson Tigers had two 1-goal wins over Drexel and JMU in CAA play. (MDLaxManiac) — #7. Sweeps the CAA and moves to #7. (mytwokeepers) — No nineteen (19). On a nine-game win streak are Tigers. Conference champions! (Rafterjack) — #15. Win two tight ones in typical CAA fashion with great defense and Mary Teeters solid in goal to gain conference crown. (slides2) — CAA champs have a nine-game win streak. The only question for the Tigers is where they'll travel for the NCAA first round. (socrlaxdad) — #6. CAA champs and great coaching. And great goaltending. And lotsa other good (oops, great) stuff defines the Towson Tigers. (Turtles Lax) — Tigers beat Dukes twice in a week by a goal each time to win the CAA, so they move up and are happy they didnít have to see the long grass in the Valley after all the rain! (UnderArmourOdor)

Georgetown: I thought the Hoyas were outplayed by Rutgers for much of the game Saturday, but they pulled out a win and have a chance to earn their way into the NCAAs. But it's not enough for my ballot, as 9-7 Georgetown falls to the ranks of the unranked. (DallasLaxDad) — #16. (fanofall) — #17. Hoyas break three game losing streak and edge into the Big East tournament. At least need to knock off Syracuse or Loyola to gain a bid to the NCAA tourney. NCAA odds 18:1. (johnnyboy) — #17. Loss the Terps not surprising but earned Big East bid with nice win over Rutgers. RPI of #21 gives them only one road to the show. (Justalaxdad) — Saved their skins by rallying to tame the Scarlet Knights, but it is good you don't points for style, because style points would have been hard to come by. Probably need to get to the finals of the Big East mixer for a chance to really dance. (Lionwatcher) — Now 9-7, the Georgetown Bulldogs, oops I mean Hoyas, had a 50/50 week, first a loss by 9 to the Maryland Terps and then a 2-goal win over Rutgers in Big East play. (MDLaxManiac) — No. eighteen (18). (Rafterjack) — #18. Can't keep up with Terps, but nip Rutgers to obtain Big East berth. (slides2) — With seven losses, the Hoyas are already on the bubble. They will have to upset 'Cuse in the Big East semis in the Dome to keep that bubble from bursting! (socrlaxdad) — #21. Ready for Da 'Cuse, says Ricky Fried. (Turtles Lax) — Rutgers win just enough to keep Hoyas in the top 20 but just barely! (UnderArmourOdor)

Stony Brook: The Seawolves land right behind their conference foe, BU, at no. 16. (DallasLaxDad) — #18. (fanofall) — #16. Seawolves travel Boston in search of the lone America East ticket to the NCAA in a must win situation. NCAA odds 18:1. (johnnyboy) — #12. Tough win over NH a bit surprising. Peterson leading nation in scoring not so surprising. RPI of #20 means they must win AE to get in, and it looks to be a tough couple if games with UMBC and perhaps BU. I think they rise to the occasion. (Justalaxdad) — As I said last week, they could be in looking out or out looking in; I really have no clue. (Lionwatcher) — #16. F.O. Spallina inks a long-term contract with Ray-Ban. Turns out that wind-tunnel tests have proven Ray-Bans are 73% more aerodynamic than Oakleys. (Lucky Laxer) — Now 13-4, the Stony Brook Seawolves beat New Hampshire by 2 in AE conference play. (MDLaxManiac) — #18. The Spallinas return to doing what they are supposed to do. While I was surprised by the loss to BU earlier, defeating Albany and UNH help them to the #18 slot. (mytwokeepers) — No fifteen (15). (Rafterjack) — #17. Close call against UNH. Await America East tourney. (slides2) — #20. Eked out W over awful UNH team thus setting up what will be a most intriguing (for myriad reasons) match against UMBC. (Turtles Lax) — C-wolves keep pushing up TOPTM with win over NH. Hey, is LGL sending every coach nasty e-mails as it isnít working? Type harder! (UnderArmourOdor)

Johns Hopkins: #19. (fanofall) — #23. Blue Jays continue to baffle, dropping an in-town game to unranked UMBC before beating ranked OSU. Here is one of those teams that can rise up and bite you in the a**. Hopkins trouble is that they too often bite themselves in the a** (which is really hard to do, especially more than once). JHU's only hope for an NCAA tournament bid is to win the ALC tournament. NCAA odds 50:1. (johnnyboy) — #22. Another team of potential that fell short. RPI of #17. (Justalaxdad) — Okay, you lose to team without a coach and then beat an arguably top 10 team (although there are about 15 teams who are arguably top 10 to go with 5 who are actually top 10, top five to be precise). WTF? I know Blue Jays are up and down, but this team is up and down more then the elevator in the Chrysler Building at rush hour. (Lionwatcher) — Now 8-8, the Johns Hopkins Bluejays had a 50/50 week, first a 1-goal loss to UMBC then they beat Penn State by 3 in ALC play. Early season excitement, but now it's hard to get too excited about a .500 team, but you never know! (MDLaxManiac) — #19. I can hear the 2nd guessers now, "How can an 8 and 8 team get Top 20 consideration?" Well they beat Towson, Georgetown, Harvard, Princeton, and Ohio State ... all but Georgetown in my Top 20. I won't say I'm up all night trying to sort out the bottom 15 in my poll, but it sure is harder then the Top Five. (mytwokeepers) — No sixteen (16). (Rafterjack) — #20. Will never be able to figure this team out. Knock off Buckeyes after slipping against UMBC. (slides2) — Hopkins vs. Peen State in the ALC first round. Loser is done, winner gets the Gators in Gainesville ... some prize! (socrlaxdad) — #22. Woefully inconsistent squad gets Nittany Lions again. (Turtles Lax) — I had the hole dug to cast the Blue Jays into and out of the Top 20, but they dropped the Buckeyes to justify staying in ... can they do the same to the We Are ... Lions? (UnderArmourOdor)

Navy: The three-time defending Patriot champs finish the regular season at 17-2 - and that earns a no. 12 vote. (DallasLaxDad) — #21. Navy's prize is to travel to Oregon for the NCAA play-in game. Having made short work of their Patriot league opponents, you have to think Navy's take no prisoners approach could garner them an NCAA victory if an opponent doesn't take them seriously. NCAA odds 30-1. (johnnyboy) — #18. They are 17-2, sport four wins over teams with winning records, and they're the three-years-running Patriot League champs. I understand the pundits' lack of love; however, I appreciate the Defenders of the Severn's early morning chants as they glide by in their sculls. (Lucky Laxer) — Patriot champs for the third straight year. NCAA first round on the road ... for the third straight year. (socrlaxdad) — #11. Ship to air missiles (14 of 'em) shot down the Eagles in rematch. Fire all that remain against Crusaders, who had just bows and arrows. Not fair, if ya ask TL. Alas, the 'ship sails for Navy ... as it should, certainly. (Turtles Lax) — Like UMass and Towson the Mids move up by winning their conference and have Patriot crown after beating Holy Cross at home! (UnderArmourOdor)

Vanderbilt: #19. RPI of #23 gives them one road to the show. Can't see it. (Justalaxdad) — As I said last week, they could be in looking out or out looking in; I really have no clue. (Lionwatcher) — Now 8-7, the Commodores were idle this week trying to make repairs to the ship before they sink or go over the top 20 falls. (MDLaxManiac) — #19. Await Ohio State in ALC tourney. (slides2) — Vandy needs to beat the Buckeyes and then upset the Wildcats for any shot at the NCAA tourney. (socrlaxdad) — Dores still out of Top 20 need to beat OSU to get back in! (UnderArmourOdor)

Boston University: The Terriers jump to no. 15. Would love to see another match-up with Stony Brook in the America East tournament, but BU needs to get past Albany first. (DallasLaxDad) — #20. Terriers pull off perfect run through America East to earn hosting privileges for their league tournament. BU intends their home field advantage to help them earn their league entry to NCAA tournament. NCAA odds 25:1. (johnnyboy) — #24. Must win the AE to get in, and they can. RPI of #25. (Justalaxdad) — #19. The Terriers secured the AE regular season championship and face Albany in their tourney. Hopefully this will lead to a rematch with the R.B. (formerly known as F.O.) Spallinas. LGL has already set his tent up in Stony Brook. (Lucky Laxer) — #24. Barely beat Binghamton in shootout. Now host America East tournament. (slides2) — #14. Uh, oh! Not much Terrier defense heretofore but giving up sixteen (16!) to Binghamton is cause for great concern. (Turtles Lax)

Oregon: Oregon wins the Mountain Pacific title and moves up into the Poll that Counts. -#24. (D-Lax) — The MPSF regular season and tournament titles and a 14-4 record earn the Ducks the final spot on my ballot. (DallasLaxDad) — #19. Quack, quack, quack, qwa quack quack quack, Stanford, quack quack quack MPSF quack quack quack NCAA tournament quack. NCAA odds: 25:1. (johnnyboy) — #20. The MPSF Champs are 14-4 and have two wins over teams with winning records. Again, I understand the pundits lack of love for all things Oregon. However, they do get to play Navy in the "Lack-of-Love" Play-in game, and that's Ducky with me! Which is better: 14-2 with losses to Temple and NU or a team hovering around .500 like JHU, Princeton or Georgetown. I'm taking record over reputation for my last spot. (Lucky Laxer) — No. twenty (20). Sorry gang. Can't wait for Stanford game to be over (8 to 3, Ducks at half) so running Ducks flag up the poll here to twenty! Wahoo! They have gone EVERYWHERE and played EVERYONE, and it is so gratifying to see them succeed! (Rafterjack) — #15. The Mighty Ducks chopped down the tree for MPSF 'ship. Quack, QuAcK, QUACK! (Turtles Lax) — Ducks get the #25 slot for being the forgettable best of the west! (UnderArmourOdor)

Princeton: The win over Penn State is not enough to earn Princeton a ranking. (DallasLaxDad) — #20. (fanofall) — #21. Win over Penn State a surprise, but loss to Penn defined season. RPI of #29. (Justalaxdad) — As I said last week, they could be in looking out or out looking in; I really have no clue. Beating Penn State is a good win, but they are too inconsistent for me. (Lionwatcher) — #20. I don't like this Princeton team, but still, they just beat Dartmouth and Penn State. Sheesh, thank goodness I have gotten to #20 and I'm done. (mytwokeepers) — No. seventeen (17) With upset at Happy Valley despite overwhelming defeat by Quakers (and being shut out of Ivy Tourney), prep Tigers STILL have much moxie, and journeyman's chance for NCAAs. (Rafterjack) — #22. Bow out of Ivy competition with loss to Penn but salvage something with OT win over Penn State. (slides2) — Here's some math that John Nash and Albert Einstein would not understand: Out of the top 20 + out of the Ivy League tourney = out of the NCAA bracket. (socrlaxdad) — P-cats are the big mover with beating of PSU can get back in Top 20 with a good showing in Ivy Tourney! (UnderArmourOdor)

Boston College: #23. Simply lacked the ability to beat the teams they needed to in the rugged ACC. RPI of #18. (Justalaxdad) — Had them in. DNP. Keep them in, but, as I said last week, they could be in looking out or out looking in, I really have no clue. (Lionwatcher) — #23. Easy win over Yale, but no post-season to speak of this year for Eagles. (slides2) — I almost put Eagles after running the clock Yale but rest them at 21! (UnderArmourOdor)

Harvard: Harvard moves up to #20 after upsetting Dartmouth and earning a spot in the Ivy tourney. (D-Lax) — #22. I wouldn't be surprised to see Harvard win one in the Ivy tournament, but their track record this season says they won't take two in a row as they need to for any hope of an NCAA bid. NCAA odds 35:1. (johnnyboy) — #18. Big win over Dartmouth. Chance to play themselves in by winning tournament. RPI of #22. (Justalaxdad) — Moved the Crimson into my top 20 on the whopping of the Green. Crimson, Green, Big Red and Blue and Red, nice colors, not such a good conference, except that they have accepted a fundamental American value, equality. (Lionwatcher) — #17. Wins over Dartmouth and Princeton in their last three games return the Crimson to TOPTM for the first time since early in the year. Lisa Miller put the 'Cuse women on the map and now she is doing it again at the Yard. (mytwokeepers) — No. twenty-two (22). Have won five big ones in a row. Keep this up and Crimson will make NCAA tourney. Parity in Ivy currently amongst top five. (Rafterjack) — #21. Cannot count out Crimson. (slides2) — #19. Hahvuhd returns to Top 20 after surprising defeat of the pride of rafterjack. Stellar defense gives Crimson a chance for more games this year. Roll Tide! (Turtles Lax) — Crimson can also get back in Top 20 with good showing in Ivy Tourney after upsetting the Big Green. (UnderArmourOdor)

High Point: #17. Panthers bite! (Turtles Lax)

James Madison: #20. Loss a tough pill to swallow. Had a shot to tie with 8 seconds left. The great Casey Ancarrow could have made a difference, but kudos to the Dukes for giving it the old college try. RPI of #27. (Justalaxdad) — #25. Tough loss in CAA final. (slides2) — Two late season stumbles - both at Towson - end the Dukes' season. (socrlaxdad)

Other Teams Pollsters Considered (and comments, if any)

. Denver:

. Canisius: Unranked - One of the best names in sports, the Golden Griffins represent the Metro in their upcoming game vs. UMass representing their best chance to make a splash in the NCAA tournament. NCAA odds 75:1. (johnnyboy) — #24. Hmmm, having avenged earlier losses in tourney, the Griffins might be better than previously thought. (Turtles Lax)

. Monmouth: Unranked - Hawks going to NCAA play-in game vs. Towson. I expect a two goal victory by the Tigers (which for Towson this season would be a blowout margin of victory). NCAA odds: 100:1. (johnnyboy)

. Fairfield: Third time is not the charm for the Stags! Third year in a row Stags go undefeated in regular season MAAC conference play and make it to the MAAC championship game and lose. (MDLaxManiac)

. Stanford:

. William & Mary:
