Pollsters' Comments About Teams They Ranked

Maryland: #1, #2, #1? Coin toss ... seriously, wish I could put both the Gators and Terps at the #1 position. (D-Lax) — For no good reason than I got better vibes this week from Florida, I'm flipping my vote again - so Maryland is back at no. 2. Wouldn't be surprised if my indecision lasts until May 26. (DallasLaxDad) — Alex Aust is having a phenomenal season, and so is Kasey Howard. As long as she can hold her own in the cage, the Terps will have the confidence not only to hold opponents back but also explode at the other end of the field. (draw18) — Terps make Retrievers and Nittanies look like harmless house pets. Will be interested to see how MD does this week against Stony Brook after playing day before against the BC Eagles. Good primer for tournament play. (johnnyboy) — Still #1 until someone unseats them ... maybe the LI Heat? (LadyLaker) — Rocking and rolling. And the shells are up, not down. Turtles Trepidation is the disease of each week. (Lionwatcher) — #1. Florida is very good; Maryland is better. (mytwokeepers) — Good wins this week. Didn't think they would put up 20 on PSU. (novaglax) — My rank: 1. Staying with Maryland. Have no good reason to do otherwise. Great job! I can make even now a case for them going all the way. (Rafterjack) — #1. Name your poison: Aust, Griffin, Cummings, Schwarzmann, etc. Kristen Lamon now shooting an incredible 16 for 17. Kasey Howard no slouch in goal either. (slides2) — Terps notch two solid, not spectacular wins on the week. Could be an interesting Northeast swing at BC and Stony Brook this coming weekend. (socrlaxdad) — #1. Got through the three-game week with three wins. Making TL very happy with lots of assists. Coach probably happy, too ;-) (Turtles Lax) — Terps double up the Nittany Lions at home, as I hated missing the Blue eshea and Ham tailgate. As TL said, I will not eat Blue eshea’s stolen ham in the dark or at College Park! (UnderArmourOdor)

Florida: Florida still at #1. Toss-up with Maryland at the top spot ... so, why aren't the Terps on the schedule? (D-Lax) — I'm flip-flopping on the top spot so much that maybe I'll get invited to the White House with the National Champ to show off my footwear. Florida just looked better to me this week, so I've got the Gators back on top. (DallasLaxDad) — The depth of this team is very impressive, from Kitty Cullen and Shannon Gilroy up front to Mikey Meagher and Sam Farrell in the back. The Gators are on a mission, and this one will be tough to derail. (draw18) — Gators knock off two more top 20 teams and face what should be an easy week. Still my top team. (johnnyboy) — Solid week with wins against Dartmouth and Loyola. (LadyLaker) — Two good wins this week. They stay my number 1. (Lionwatcher) — #2. Just to repeat myself, Florida is very good; Maryland is better. (mytwokeepers) — Two very solid wins over some quality teams. (novaglax) — My rank: 2. No change. Came to Hanover and extended their win streak to nine. Just fabulous lacrosse. I especially like Meagher! From seeing finals last year, I do have a tinge, a modicum, Doctor, of doubt about Gators' ability to either sweep and/or both sweep and succeed NU as champs. (Rafterjack) — #2. Gators a little out of their comfort zone in the North Woods, but it hardly matters, as Shannon Gilroy leads the way over Dartmouth after easy time with Loyola. (slides2) — Gators get to 9-0 with quality wins over Loyola (HUGE second half against the 'Hounds) and at Dartmouth. Expect them to be at 11-0 this time next week. (socrlaxdad) — #2. Defense continues to impress and showed they can play where it's not warm. (Turtles Lax) — I hold the bigger reptiles at #1 with five wins over the Top 20 versus the shelled reptiles who have four, but it is really 1A and 1B. (UnderArmourOdor)

North Carolina: Expected a more decisive win versus Virginia, but the Tar Heels remain at no. 3. (DallasLaxDad) — North Carolina has a stacked team that can come through in the clutch thanks to a host of quality players. A solid defense will allow them to take chances up front; the goals will come with the firepower here. (draw18) — Tar Heels' scoring margin in their wins won't wow you, but at 5-1 I think Coach Levy should be pleased with overall outcome to date. (johnnyboy) — Beat UVa by 1. Hmmm. (LadyLaker) — Hoo-had a close call, but still a win. (Lionwatcher) — #3. I had the pleasure of watching Northwestern dismantle JHU on Saturday. They are a very impressive team ... and UNC beat them. Wow. (mytwokeepers) — Should of taken care of the Hoos by an even larger margin. (novaglax) — My rank: 5. About where you all are going to place them ... and some of the other (lesser known) polls will as well: On the cusp of greatness. On the cusp of greatness. On the cusp of greatness. (Rafterjack) — #3. Kara Cannizzaro the difference as Heels squeeze by UVa. (slides2) — 'Heels are now on a 5-game win streak. Should be a challenge when the 4-1 Hoyas visit Chapel Hill this weekend. (socrlaxdad) — #3. Considered moving the 'Heels to the 2 hole but just cannot ... for now. (Turtles Lax) — Heels come back to edge the Hoos in the last 10 minutes ... no rain at Fetzer made it a one-goal game! (UnderArmourOdor)

Northwestern: Came back from their break strong, beating a BC team that I don't think belongs in the rankings and dominating a Johns Hopkins squad that I had at no. 8 last week - but, the ACC trio and Florida all won also, so Northwestern stays at no. 5. (DallasLaxDad) — Erin Fitzgerald has taken this team on her back, and she can lead the 'Cats offensively. With Taylor Thornton combining with Gabrielle Flibotte in the defense, NU is not about to relinquish its crown anytime soon. (draw18) — Wildcats rolling over opponents again save one physical contest loss to UNC. Interested to see how Cats handle Navy this week, another team that will thump you a time or two during a game. (johnnyboy) — Cats over Jays. Nature over nurture. (LadyLaker) — I hear the train a comin', It's rollin' 'round the bend, And I ain't seen the sunshine, on Lakeside field since when? Lakeside Field Blues. (Lionwatcher) — #4. Saw the Wildcats in person on Saturday ... Wow, are they good! Still, they are my number 4 team, which means either I am wrong or the Top Three are really, really good. (mytwokeepers) — Starting to find their stride. Watch out for them 'Cats. (novaglax) — My rank: 3. Easily handled Hop women. Actually, from the look of the score and Jehu's otherwise stellar breakout this season, I think NU maybe popped their balloon. Nest-Ce Pas? (Rafterjack) — #4. 'Cats ease by BC and run clinic on Hopkins. Erin Fitzgerald heating up, Alyssa Leonard grabbing draws, Bridget Bianco making saves, and Gabriella Flibotte thoroughly controlling midfield play. (slides2) — 'Cats are holding serve at my #4 slot. Big wins over BC and at Hopkins should have them ready for Monday's game at undefeated Navy. (socrlaxdad) — #4. Plowed the field ... then plowed BC and the Hop. (Turtles Lax) — The Empire enslaves the Eagles at home and also ventures into Charm City the same weekend as Syracuse to pummel the Jays at Homewood. (UnderArmourOdor)

Syracuse: The Orange with a 10-3 win over Towson. Looks like this will be a defensive year for the 'Cuse. Offense needs to start clicking soon. (D-Lax) — No. 8 sounds about right for my pre-season no. 1. (DallasLaxDad) — The Orange have a nice, solid roster that has experience and talent. Michelle Tumolo, Katie Webster, and Alyssa Murray combine to form one of the most potent attacks in the nation. SU can outscore everyone, but can't rely only on that. (draw18) — Someone tell GG that you turn the clocks ahead only one hour not back one week - won't see the orange in play until 3/22 vs. UConn. Of course, they did start the season in January so maybe deserving of a week off. (johnnyboy) — Solid win against the Baltimore Tigers. (LadyLaker) — Apparently worked on defense this week. Rounding out the arsenal. (Lionwatcher) — #5. I got to the Syracuse vs. Towson game at half-time with the score 4-3 'Cuse. The second half was pure dominance by the Orange (final 10-3). They are good, but not nearly as good to these eyes as Northwestern. (mytwokeepers) — Wow, 'Cuse has a defense. I thought they were all O. (novaglax) — My rank: 5 (tie). Many pollsters (UAO, I believe), fans, decry placement of teams based on any criteria other than current won/loss record. My placement is based on where I think teams will be AT THE WIRE! Only team in rankings at this level and above NOT deserving it as to its record, is Orange. (Rafterjack) — #5. Orange break open close game and dominate second half to beat Towson. (slides2) — The Orange get back above .500 with a relatively easy win at Towson. They have the next week off (to reconstitute?) before facing UConn, BC and Northwestern. (socrlaxdad) — #7. Better get the touted offense motivated. Starting to look like Penn. (Turtles Lax) — Orange in Charm City over the weekend to beat Towson and do some recruiting ... oops, I mean clinicianing at NDP! (UnderArmourOdor)

Duke: Win over a strong Georgetown squad keeps the Blue Devils at no. 4. (DallasLaxDad) — Duke has a depth that is impressive, and they have a number of players who can contribute on any given day. The ability of a number of players throughout the roster to make a play will make it tough for defenses to lock down on any single one player. (draw18) — Duke hands resurgent Hoyas the 1st blemish on their W-L record. (johnnyboy) — Beat G-town by 1. (LadyLaker) — Held off the impressive Hoyas. Interesting year. (Lionwatcher) — #6. Beating Georgetown gives the Blue Devils a big jump in my eyes. Best of the second five. (mytwokeepers) — Quality win. About where they should be. (novaglax) — My rank: 4. Decided to give Dukie's their due. Are still in the premier 'mix'; at the top, in my poll. (Rafterjack) — #6. Rookie goalkeeper Kelsey Duryea the story as Devils fend off determined Hoyas. (slides2) — Close win for the Dookies at Georgetown gives them a very solid resume with JU and Dartmouth coming up. (socrlaxdad) — #5. Needed W at Georgetown ... got it. (Turtles Lax) — Devils escape DC with a win, but had to wonder if TL was in the crowd, as final Hoya comeback needed one more plane roar to drown out the final horn! (UnderArmourOdor)

Notre Dame: So, does a team that gets beaten in the first half of games, but dominates the second half, belong in the first half of the top 20? Well, the Irish are 5-0; and, looking at their schedule, if they don't dig too big a hole, they should remain unbeaten until April - so they again earn a no. 6 vote. (DallasLaxDad) — The Fighting Irish are talented and with the veteran experience they have can make a nice run through the conference and through the national scene. Ellie Hilling has put in a number of years and with Barbara Sullivan playing in front of her, ND will continue to do well. (draw18) — Irish at 5-0 still warming up for tougher competition to come. (johnnyboy) — Beat BU. They stay at my #8 b/c I can't figure out which team to put ahead of them. (LadyLaker) — Beat down on BC and defeated Detroit (Mercy, Mercy Me). (Lionwatcher) — #12. 5-0 and still waiting to be impressed. (mytwokeepers) — Stat padding with Detroit. Play 'em all, says the coach. (novaglax) — My rank: 7. (Rafterjack) — #7. Roar back from 8-4 halftime deficit to best BU. (slides2) — Irish have to stage a comeback win at BU and now head to Vandy this week. At 5-0, would anyone bet against this team during St. Patrick's Day week? (socrlaxdad) — #10. Undefeated still ... yet still not sure how/why they are. (Turtles Lax) — Irish treat Detroit to Rock City and had a huge scare by BU before getting a dozen in the second half to make the Luck of the Irish #7. (UnderArmourOdor)

Georgetown: Looks like the Hoyas are on the way back. Almost pull off the upset of Duke. #8. (D-Lax) — Georgetown duked it out with the Tar Heels and came up short - but that's not enough reason to drop the Hoyas. Georgetown remains at no. 7. (DallasLaxDad) — Caroline Tarzian has done a great job in leading the team up front, and with Kelsi Bozel adding significant minutes to the squad, GU has stood strong all season long. Kelyn Freedman is having another great season and will keep the Hoyas in the national scene. (draw18) — Hoyas didn't disappoint this week with a good win over Stanford and a narrow margin of defeat versus Duke. (johnnyboy) — Lost to Duke by 1. (LadyLaker) — Hoyas, to date, are the team that surprises me the most, even in the loss. This team comes to compete every game. (Lionwatcher) — #10. Georgetown drops to my 10th slot, but their one-goal loss to Duke is hardly the sign of the Apocalypse. (mytwokeepers) — Great game with Duke. May be the sleeper come tournament time. (novaglax) — My rank: 10. (Rafterjack) — #8. Travel to Stanford and win convincingly; close but no cigar against Duke. (slides2) — Hoyas are handed their first loss at home by Duke. This week they're on the road to visit the 'Jays and the 'Heels ... my guess is that loss #2 lies somewhere in the near future. (socrlaxdad) — #13. Rather impressed with Hoyas' offense, but that was before meltdown vs. Duke. Not so much anymore. (Turtles Lax) — Hoya’s loss to Blue Devils by only one make the mid-week trip up to Homewood a very interesting match-up. (UnderArmourOdor)

Penn State: Penn State drops to 11 with the drubbing by the Terps. (DallasLaxDad) — Tatum Coffey and Maggie McCormick have shown no letup in their college careers, and with the experience Kelly Lechner has with her talent, PSU is loaded for a great run through the season. (draw18) — After being mauled by Turtles this week, I'm looking forward to the Nittanies' game coming up against Cornell this week. Both teams need a W to keep building their legitimacy. (johnnyboy) — Lost to MD. Look for them to rebound against Cornell. (LadyLaker) — Taken to the shed, like many others this year. (Lionwatcher) — #9. 7, 8, and 9 are a round robin tie. Comparative scores make it Loyola, UVa, and PSU in that order. (mytwokeepers) — Really thought they would play Maryland closer. Close game vs. the Dukes. (novaglax) — My rank: 8. (Rafterjack) — #11. Just hold off JMU before joining host of other good teams totally blown away by Maryland. (slides2) — PSU edges the Dukes at home and then gets doubled up at Maryland. That loss says more about the Terps than it does about the Nittany Lions. (socrlaxdad) — #11. Startling breakdown notwithstanding, got past Dukes. Tried to copy JMU 2nd half tactics in Turtle Town but fell short. All said, do not underestimate the Nittany Lions. (Turtles Lax) — We Are ... out-tailgated and doubled up in College Park! (UnderArmourOdor)

Johns Hopkins: Don't want to overreact to the Blue Jays' loss to the Evil Empire. The Blue Jays fall, but only to no. 13. (DallasLaxDad) — Taylor D'Amore has had an amazing start to her season, and with the contributions Sarah Taylor and Sammy Cermack are making up front, the Hop is showing itself to be a contender. The Blue Jays are getting great help from Octavia Williams and Courtney Schweizer. (draw18) — Jays a little bluer after getting thumped by NU. A couple of Ws over the DC Georges this week might make them feel better. (johnnyboy) — A Feline smack-down on the Jays ... up the proverbial tree without a branch. (LadyLaker) — Some would drop the Hop after getting bopped on the top. However, at 13, I don't move them. (Lionwatcher) — #11. JHU holds the 11th slot, but they showed me little against Northwestern. I lean towards believing NU is that good, but will be curious to see if I have the Hop over-rated. (mytwokeepers) — Again, I really thought they would play the Gators closer. Maybe Florida is just a tier ahead of some these mid tier teams. (novaglax) — My rank: 11. I wanted Hop to stay with American Lac. Conf. Rued their choice - like, were they choosing to compete at a lower level? So am watching for what level of competitive spirit we will see on field. So far, bravo! (Rafterjack) — #13. Reality bites. (slides2) — 'Jays lose at Homewood to the Wildcats ... they lost the game and their perfect record, but only 1 spot in my poll. (socrlaxdad) — #12. Spring weather didn't help. Hugely disappointing performance against NU. (Turtles Lax) — Stormtroopers wreak havoc at Homewood, but that is to be expected ... need to bounce back for the midweek Hoya visit. (UnderArmourOdor)

Virginia: Beginning of the year looked like Virginia was on their way back. Looks like they can't pull off the close wins. Still remain in the Top 10 at #9. (D-Lax) — The losses are all to highly ranked teams - and they did beat a strong Loyola squad - but I am constitutionally incapable of ranking a 2-4 team. (DallasLaxDad) — The Cavaliers have been scoring by committee, and they have been defending by committee as well. This team will continue to do well thanks to a commitment to working together. They have played a tough schedule, and that will in turn pay dividends down the road. (draw18) — Have to drop one of my favorite teams this year. Despite losing to the likes of UNC, Syracuse, MD and PSU (three by one goal), they now have lost four in a row. I'll give Cavaliers a spot in my bottom 20. (johnnyboy) — A one-goal loss puts the up-and-down Cavaliers back in my top 10 this week. (LadyLaker) — They were like tar on the heels of the Tar Heels. Still only 4th in the ACC (or Big East or what ever they are called these days.). (Lionwatcher) — #8. 7, 8, and 9 are a round robin tie. Comparative scores make it Loyola, UVa, and PSU in that order. (mytwokeepers) — Virginia, can you please win a close one ... . (novaglax) — My rank: 9. (Rafterjack) — #9. Hoos are best 2-4 team in the country after taking UNC to the wire at Fetzer. (slides2) — With four straight losses (albeit to top 10 teams) the Cavs keep sliding down the poll ... therefore, they are this week's honorary fireman team. (socrlaxdad) — #17. Putting the WAAAAHHHH in Wahoo. Four losses in a row is not so good. Gonna have to beat someone soon. (Turtles Lax) — Lucky’s "1,2,3,4, Go Hoos!" cheer sounds like their losses ... to #’s 1, 3, 5, and 7, Lose Hoos! Had to look at SOS, and Orange have #1 ... Hoos #2! (UnderArmourOdor)

Dartmouth: The Big Green suffer their first loss - but there's no shame in losing to the Gators. No. 9. (DallasLaxDad) — Big Green playing to expectations gaining Ws versus teams they are expected to beat and a respectable final score in their loss to the Gators. (johnnyboy) — Loss to the Gators does not diminish the Green. (Lionwatcher) — #14. (mytwokeepers) — My rank: 12. Coach speaking (after the Fla. game) as to consistency and its need in top five level play. Dartmouth fans like hearing that kind of we can-do-it talk (but consistency lacking today). Held their own against Gators. Move up on the loss, and the top-five level (aim high) talk with me. (Rafterjack) — #10. Get first convincing win over BU and suffer first convincing loss against Florida. At this point in the rankings, it's a matter of which team lost least badly. (slides2) — The Big Green suffer their first loss at the hands of my #1 team - the Gators. Expect a 1-1 southern swing, as they'll face Duke this coming weekend and Davidson early next week. (socrlaxdad) — #9. Easily over Terriers and warmly welcomed Florida to the frozen tundra. A cold shoulder would have been more useful. (Turtles Lax) — Rafterman and d-mac pan the Big Green game coverage, but the cold weather helps slow down the Gators! (UnderArmourOdor)

Loyola: Loyola grabs the last spot, but only because I believe they are better than a 2-3 record suggests. (DallasLaxDad) — The Greyhounds have a very nice scoring touch up front, with Marlee Paton leading the way. With Taryn Van Thof and Hannah Schmidt providing additional looks, Loyola can make defenses have to be careful on match-ups. (draw18) — Greyhounds have a chance to get their record on the plus side again if they can outplay Delaware and JMU of the Colonial Conf. (johnnyboy) — Loss to the Gators does not diminish the other Green either. (Lionwatcher) — #7. 7, 8, and 9 are a round robin tie. Comparative scores make it Loyola, UVa, and PSU in that order. (mytwokeepers) — #16. Hounds no match for Florida. (slides2) — Losing at Florida was not unexpected. Giving up 8 straight goals in the second half was. The 'Hounds should bounce back against Delaware and JMU this week. (socrlaxdad) — #19. Were game in the swamp, but offensive woes plague the 'Hounds. Perhaps the week off will get them back on track. We'll see. (Turtles Lax) — Hounds licking wounds this weekend from a bad trip to Dizney as they head to see Blue Hens midweek! (UnderArmourOdor)

Stony Brook: The Seawolves have dominated every team they've played so far, except Florida - so, Stony Brook finishes out my top 10. (DallasLaxDad) — Demianne Cook and Claire Petersen are showing how they have been able to put Stony Brook on the map, but the contributions of Janine Hillier and Michelle Rubino cannot be overlooked. This is a nice team that will make waves this season. (draw18) — The bad news is the Seawolves face the Maryland Terps this week - the good news is they get them a day after a contest with BC. Could be the edge they need for a franchise-making victory. (johnnyboy) — Putting SB at my #11. Two wins this week and taking on the big dogs, er, Turtles this week. They deserve this spot on guts alone. (LadyLaker) — Going all Long Island on teams this week. No problem putting the rock in the hole. (Lionwatcher) — #19. Impressive margins of victory against weak teams, a significant loss in their only game against a top team. I'm not certain why I still have Stony Brook ranked other than I have seen their talent and "who else." (mytwokeepers) — Schedule is an issue. Play someone, not just the Duquesnes and Longwoods of the world. (novaglax) — #14. Seawolves make quick work of a respectable Duquesne team. (slides2) — Seawolves get to 4-1 ... but the Terps loom on St. Patty's Day. (socrlaxdad) — #18. Better against Duquesne than some others. (Turtles Lax) — Spawolves open at home by sticking the Lancers of the Big South for 21. (UnderArmourOdor)

Cornell: Big Red could be most underrated team in the Top 20. #13. (D-Lax) — Don't know if Cornell is here to stay, but I can't ignore a 4-0 record that includes a 2-0 start in Ivy League play. (DallasLaxDad) — Lindsey Toppe is leading the Big Red to a great start of the season, and Courtney Gallagher has held her own in the cage. With Sarah Hefner and Kelly Lang adding solid minutes, Cornell is looking very strong in the Ivies. (draw18) — I know the Big Red is undefeated can't get too excited yet. Might have more to say after this week's game against PSU. (johnnyboy) — Beat Colgate and Columbia. Looking forward to PSU match-up on Wednesday. (LadyLaker) — #18. (mytwokeepers) — My rank: 15. Have Penn State at home coming up. Will show me how real Cornell is this year. Last year flared up and then apparently didn't have enough to sustain themselves down the stretch; were/became an also-ran. May be different this year with sophomore attacker Toppe (14g/8a- three games). (Rafterjack) — #15. I always seem to be low-balling the Big Red. Let's try to rectify that this week, before Penn State shows up. (slides2) — Cornell moves to 4-0, but none of their defeated opponents has a winning record. Look for the Big Red's real tests this week hosting Penn St. and Albany. (socrlaxdad) — #6. Go ahead, Big Red, go ahead. (Turtles Lax) — Big Red hold, as beating Columbia and Colgate that dog won’t hunt, but they're hunting big game this week, and bringing down the Lions will move the needle. (UnderArmourOdor)

Navy: The Mids keep winning and stay at no. 12. (DallasLaxDad) — The Naval Academy has started strong yet again, with Jasmine DePompeo and Loren Genari exploding up front. Annie Foky is holding her own in the cage, and Navy will make another deep run. (draw18) — Navy gets to step up a level, no, two levels, er maybe three levels of competition this week when they take on the NU. Expect Cats to get the victory but receive a few bruises in doing so. In a few days, the bruises will turn purple and match their uniforms. (johnnyboy) — Beat Lehigh. First real test comes today. Some hot cars in Nap Town. No "mid"-dle ground here -- either you hang with them or you don't. (LadyLaker) — Starting out 6-0. Ho hum. This week it is the annual edition of "Teaching the Teacher". (Lionwatcher) — #20. At 6-0, I am giving my final Top 20 slot to the Mids. This week against Northwestern and New Hampshire will determine if they stay or go. (mytwokeepers) — #12. Middies off to 6-0 start, but Death Star looms. (slides2) — The 6-0 Middies have done all they possibly can to prepare for the visiting Wildcats this week. (socrlaxdad) — #8. Have yielded just 33 goals in six games. Wow, that's rather good! (Turtles Lax) — Must get all women on deck and have the damage control parties ready as the Deathstar is heading south after razing a field in Charm City! (UnderArmourOdor)

Stanford: Welcoming Stanford back to the Top 20 at #20. Comeback Year. (D-Lax) — The Cardinal debuts on my ballot at 18. (DallasLaxDad) — Rachel Ozur has had a great start to her season, and Stanford has responded to her work. The work Megan Lerner is contributing behind the scenes has helped the Cardinal stay relevant, and this team is not done yet. (draw18) — Cardinal settling in near bottom of my top 20. (johnnyboy) — Maybe the best in the West. Losses to ND and the Hoyas says they are in the 15-20 range with lots of others. (Lionwatcher) — #13. (mytwokeepers) — Two good wins, but falter against G-town. (novaglax) — #17. Cardinal cannot handle Georgetown, but slap down uppity younger siblings from USC and nudge past a decent Temple team. (slides2) — #25. Was just about to be gone ... yet saved by the bell. Just not sure you're good enough. One last chance next week or G.O.N.E. until 2014. Yep. Promise. (Turtles Lax) — LGL has been selling Philly lax this year, so this is a good win for the IndianTreeCards! (UnderArmourOdor)

Massachusetts: Keeping Loyola on my ballot knocked the Minutewomen off. (DallasLaxDad) — I'll give UMass another chance after their win over Albany. (johnnyboy) — Albany's tough; they lay down the law (at least for New Yorkers), and UMass got what it needed in the end. (Lionwatcher) — #19. Buzzer beater by Sam Rush slips Minutewomen past stubborn Albany. (slides2) — Minutewomen claim an OT win over a pretty good Albany team. (socrlaxdad) — #14. OT win over Albany likely will be better than first glimpse. (Turtles Lax) — UMass stops slide with win over Great Danes but won’t have a chance to move up until heading to the Big Red! Princeton: Erin McMunn, Anya Gersoff, and Sarah Lloyd make a nice trio up front for the Tigers, who have continued to make a push back into the national scene. With Caroline Rehfuss anchoring the defense, Princeton is holding strong. (draw18) — I'll give the 3-1 Tigers the benefit of the doubt for now, but upcoming stretch vs. UVa, Rutgers and Hopkins should help clarify a few things. (johnnyboy) — Only loss is to a good Hoya team. Next few games will begin to define the Tigers. (Lionwatcher) — Tigers notch their first win streak (now at 2 games) and their first Ivy League win. (socrlaxdad) — Tigers' trip to Hooville is a chance for these big cats to also get off the endangered list! (UnderArmourOdor)

Denver: The competition this week wasn't anywhere near the rankings, but the Pioneers put up a couple more Ws. (DallasLaxDad) — #17. (mytwokeepers) — #20. Pioneers feast on newbie Winthrop and hapless Fresno State. BU much tougher test coming up. (slides2) — The Pioneers are a good team who need to prove a bit more (to me) to move into the top 20. (socrlaxdad) — #16. Blizzard beating Pioneers stormed through three game week. Well done. (Turtles Lax) — “Pioneers Tame Bulldogs” is the press release heading. Let’s see if they can keep the dog taming act going when the Terriers visit Mile High! (UnderArmourOdor)

Towson: With Sarah Maloof and Kelly Custer leading the way for the Tigers, Towson has withstood a brutal schedule to start the season. They now have to take these experiences and grown from them; with the talent they have on the team, that should make it much easier down the road. (draw18) — Lost to Syracuse. (LadyLaker) — Loss to the Orange is not the worst thing for those in the 15-20 range. (Lionwatcher) — #15. (mytwokeepers) — #18. Tigers play one half of strong D against Syracuse, but it avails them nothing. Still probably the class of the CAA, but must beat Richmond to stay in Top 20. (slides2) — Tigers look a lot like Hoos - losses to four good teams - have a week to prowl for Spiders, but the Hop is the chance to get off the endangered species list! (UnderArmourOdor)

Ohio State: Jackie Cifarelli is taking the leadership of the Bucks, and that's a good thing for Ohio State. Katie Chase has been providing a nice scoring touch, and Taylor Donahue has been making valuable contributions in the backfield. As the defense continues to gel, the Buckeyes will continue to improve. (draw18) — I am not completely killing the Buckeyes for the loss to the Cardinals. Not yet. Need to pick it up. (Lionwatcher) — #23. Buckeyes run away from Canisius in second half. (slides2) — 3-3 Buckeyes can't look past this week's game against BU ... even though Florida and Northwestern come before then end of March. (socrlaxdad) — #23. Why? Dunno. (Turtles Lax) — No one needed a visit from Canisius more than the reeling Buckeyes! (UnderArmourOdor)

Connecticut: Another good week for the Huskies, topped off by an OT win over the Stags, secures UConn's place in the rankings. Connecticut at no. 14. (DallasLaxDad) — Huskies are 5-0, but none of their vanquished opponents have any top 25 credentials or a winning record. Need to Seymour. (johnnyboy) — My rank: 17. Who is 5-0? In the Big East (now nearly ... defunct, B.E.) Are surprising and delighting us all. Especially we Nutmegers! (Rafterjack) — #20. Rather digging the Huskies. Bark loudly, big dogs. (Turtles Lax)

Louisville: Louisville reenters my ballot at no. 19 with two wins, including a nice win over the 'Dores. (DallasLaxDad) — Cardinals hanging around 18 to 25 ranking in my mind. Probably will squeeze them in based on my rankings of others. (johnnyboy) — #21. Cards make way past down-in-the-dumps Vandy and enjoy schedule mismatch against Presbyterian. (slides2) — Cardinals crack my top 20 for the first time with two solid wins. They are "on the road" for the rest of March (four games including Loyola and Georgetown), and if they complete that stretch at 2-2 - or better - they should stay in my top 20 into April. (socrlaxdad) — #15. A good week for the red birds. (Turtles Lax) — “Louisville Pummels Presbyterian” not one of my fake press release headings, but the real deal and LaxPower was kind and originally only reported 21-1, when in fact it was 23-1! (UnderArmourOdor)

James Madison: The Dukes' had only a loss this week, but in the process legitimized my vote for them last week. James Madison at 15. (DallasLaxDad) — One-goal loss to PSU puts them at my #16. (LadyLaker) — #24. Strong effort against Penn State. (slides2) — Edged out by Penn State for their first loss keeps the Dukes near the cusp of the top 20. (socrlaxdad) — #24. E for effort in bold (almost) comeback at PSU keeps Dukes in the mix. (Turtles Lax) — Dukes fall in Hullabaloo Hall need to beat the Spiders before a rough three-game stretch with the Hounds, Hoos and Turtles! (UnderArmourOdor)

Oregon: #16. (mytwokeepers) — #22. Ducks continue high wire act, nipping Vermont in OT and edging Davidson by one. (slides2)

Drexel: Gotta drop the Dragons to unranked this week, with the loss to UMBC. (DallasLaxDad) — UMBC turned off the Dragon's pilot light while Penn is showing their earlier loss to Dragons is not so special. Drop from my top 20. (johnnyboy) — #21. Sorry Larry, but losing to UMBC drops Drexel from the Top 20. (mytwokeepers) — Dragons snuffed out by UMBC ... and slip from their brief fling in the top 20. (socrlaxdad) — #22. 5-zip before "season making" battle at UMBC. Bad loss ... pretty sure, yes. (Turtles Lax)

Boston University: Terriers euphoria after opening win over UMass is torn apart by losses to Dartmouth and Notre Dame. Will need to earn their way back into my top 20. (johnnyboy) — Terriers were biting Irish for a half but fall in the end. (UnderArmourOdor)

Temple: Kellee Pace, Charlotte Swavola and Jaymie Tabor are doing a nice job for the Owls in the front line, and Meghan Clothier is anchoring the defense for Temple. Kara Stroup is a nice compliment to Clothier in the backfield. (draw18) — Owlch - Temple loses first game in 2013 to Stanford. (johnnyboy)

Boston College:

Penn:

Rutgers: The 5-1 Scarlet Knights have earned a spot on my watch list, but their defeated opponents have a combined 9-19 record. Need to Seymour. (johnnyboy)

UMBC: #25. Let's try on for size in Top 25. (slides2) — 4-2 Retrievers hand Drexel their first loss, and it looks like they will challenge for the Atlantic East title. (socrlaxdad) — #21. As Top 25 (bottom end) worthy as anybody ... for now. (Turtles Lax)

Other Teams Pollsters Considered (and comments, if any)

. Hofstra: Two-game losing streak drops Hofstra from my ballot. (DallasLaxDad)

. Jacksonville: Jacksonville continues to flirt with the rankings, and the win over William & Mary maybe should put them in. But, there are still too many unbeatens. (DallasLaxDad) — The Dolphins are 5-2 with their only losses to top 5 teams ... could be this season's "emerging stars." (socrlaxdad)

. Albany:

. Harvard:
