Pollsters' Comments About Teams They Ranked

Maryland: Yes, Terps are #1. (D-Lax) — Maryland 14, North Carolina 13 in College Park = Terps 1A, Tar Heels 1B. My bet's that we get to see this match-up two more times this season. (DallasLaxDad) — The Terps battle game-in and game-out, and with players like Schwarzmann and Taylor Cummings, there is no question that Maryland belongs in the nation's elite. The total team effort will carry this team to the final weekend. (draw18) — #1. Still kicking myself for missing the game of the year. Thought the start time was 1:00 pm. Drat. Terps are the only team for me to easily rank this week. (johnnyboy) — Beat UNC by 1, so one spot ahead and in #1 ... still. (LadyLaker) — Beat 2 by 1 ergo 1. (Lionwatcher) — #1. Maryland holds on to the #1 slot with a one-goal win over #2 UNC. Stellar goaltending carried the Terps to this victory. (mytwokeepers) — And the Energizer Bunny keeps rolling along. (novaglax) — My rank: 1. Have scored 222 goals per latest Lacrosse Mag. Only matched by my #2, Florida. Only glitch, maybe, LaxPower pollster April fool hoax ... claimed he abandoned team. Hmm. But Maryland showing effects, "of long season," as they say: three latest wins at less than forecast margins. (Rafterjack) — #1. Terps tested for first time and do what they need to win. (slides2) — A bit closer than expected, but the Terps nip the Heels in College Park. Undefeated and #1 Terps should be able to close out the regular season and take the #1 conference seed into the ACC tourney. (socrlaxdad) — #1. (Turtles Lax) — Leave no doubt who is Yertle, as the Turtles are on top of the stack and Queens of the Division I pond. (UnderArmourOdor)

North Carolina: Battle in College Park won by the Terps. #2. (D-Lax) — 1B=2 this week. (DallasLaxDad) — UNC has a roster chock full of talent, and with a host of scorers and a tough defense, the Heels are every bit a part of any national title discussion. Carolina is tested in every game, and they get stronger and stronger. (draw18) — #4. Truly am tempted to keep UNC in my runner-up poll position, but there must be some consequence to losing even if it is by one to the top-ranked team. (johnnyboy) — With loss to MD, UNC still #2. If you ain't the lead dog, the view never changes! (LadyLaker) — Beat 3 by 1 but lost to 1 by 1 ergo 2. (Lionwatcher) — #2. How far does #2 fall when it loses to #1 by a single goal? My answer ... not a single spot. (mytwokeepers) — It's too bad someone had to lose that game. (novaglax) — My rank: 3. I am not sure as to ORDER of top group herein, other than that Maryland holds very highest slot ... deservedly. At season's end, though, likely to be ... Carolina, Fla., Orange, NU, and Terps vying ... but surely not OTHER than one of these. (Rafterjack) — #2. Tar Heels give Terps a run. No doubt these two will meet again. Still #2 in my estimation. (slides2) — Heels nipped by the Terps for ACC supremacy. With JU and Vandy left on their regular season schedule, UNC should be facing the Terps in the ACC final. (socrlaxdad) — #2. Without a shred of doubt, the Heels are number 2. (Turtles Lax) — Go to College Park and use a goalie for each half for the 10th time ... Lucky told me if you have two keepers you donít have one! (UnderArmourOdor)

Northwestern: First-half scare vs. Virginia, then Coach Amonte works her coaching magic. #3. (D-Lax) — Sunday night, the Wildcats keep another opponent in the game early, continuing a trend that was briefly interrupted by dominating Penn State earlier this week. Northwestern is no. 4. (DallasLaxDad) — The 'Cats keep clawing their way to success, with multiple players able to step up as needed. Erin Fitzgerald is having another banner year and with Taylor Thornton still making an impact all over the field, NU is a tough match-up. (draw18) — #2. Cats dominate PSU and toy with UVa before putting them down. KAH has NU positioned quite well to face the rest of their schedule. (johnnyboy) — A new NU tactic -- win by freezing your opponent into complete submission. Worked against PSU and then beat UVa the old-fashioned way. (LadyLaker) — Lost to 2 by 1 ergo 3. (Lionwatcher) — #3. The Wildcats beat down a solid, but clearly intimidated, Penn State team. They follow up by defeating a terribly confusing 'Hoos squad. The Wildcats retain their #3 spot. (mytwokeepers) — The Cats are starting to feel it. (novaglax) — My rank: 4. Good series on storied Coach Almonte-Hiller at NU web site. Continues solid play. (Rafterjack) — #3. Dispatch Penn State in businesslike manner and put together solid second half to dash hopes for upset by UVa. (slides2) — 'Cats face a tough road this month with 4 of their next 5 against top 10 teams. The biggest test among those is at #2 Florida on 4/20. (socrlaxdad) — #4. (Turtles Lax) — Deathstar gets out of dry dock for the first time since the damage of Navy torpedoes. Behind at half, they rally in the second half. (UnderArmourOdor)

Florida: After last week's loss to Penn State, piles it on Hopkins. #4. (D-Lax) — Gators rebound very nicely from their sole loss of the season last week and stay at no. 3. (DallasLaxDad) — The Gators continue to impress the rest of the nation with their depth in attack and their ability to play solid defense. Ashley Bruns and Kitty Cullen lead a potent attack while Kayla Stolins and Sam Farrell are among the best defenders in the nation. (draw18) — #3. Forget about the take 'em one game at a time and don't look too far ahead in the schedule platitudes. Gators should start putting in their game plan now for NU because they will most likely will face them twice in ALC play and could face them in the NCAA if they fall in the same bracket. (johnnyboy) — Hey, there! Ho, there! Hopkins gets spanked in Mickeys' house by the Gators. (LadyLaker) — Regained the mojo. Losses are sometimes good. (Lionwatcher) — #4. Florida rebounds from their loss to PSU and pummels the Blue Jays by 10 goals. (mytwokeepers) — My rank: 2. Yes, yes - loss to Penn State. Yes, yes, a surprise. Bothers me little. 'Flopper' is Rafter. Now thinking Gator might have (enough) moxie (as, say, exaggerated early touting of such as Syracuse wearing off etc.). (Rafterjack) — #4. Regain control of bodies after zombie outbreak at Penn State. (slides2) — My #2 Gators should win out their remaining games heading into the regular season finale with Northwestern in Gainesville. That should be a "winner-take-all" contest for the #1 seed in the ALC tourney. (socrlaxdad) — #3. Dragged poor Mr. Hopkins into the darkest depths of the swamp and flat chewed him up. (Turtles Lax) — Gators take last week out on the Hop by putting a dime spot on them! (UnderArmourOdor)

Syracuse: Scare in New Brunswick, but pull off win. Need to regroup before end of week against Louisville. #5. (D-Lax) — After a half on Sunday, I thought the Orange were about to fall a bunch of places. But, with the nice second half, Syracuse rises to no. 8. (DallasLaxDad) — SU has the athletes that are keeping them in the title hunt, and when you have an attack that includes Kayla Treanor, Michelle Tumolo, Katie Webster and Alyssa Murray, you know you can put some goals on the board. Kailiah Kempney gives SU great minutes. (draw18) — #6. Pushing the 'Cuse back up my rankings, but I am still waiting for them to get it in gear ... feel like they are stuck in neutral. (johnnyboy) — After the beating Rutgers athletics has had this week, a 2-goal loss to Syracuse seemed like a victory. (LadyLaker) — Practiced against Villanova but struggled against Rutgers. I think that says more about Rutgers. (Lionwatcher) — #5. Rounding out the Top Five, Syracuse pounds Villanova. (mytwokeepers) — My rank: 5. Purely a play on end of season HOPES/DREAMS. Goodbye, Big East - did LOVE YOU! (Rafterjack) — #5. Orange breeze by Villanova but are hard-pressed by Rutgers before rallying to win. (slides2) — The Orange get two roads wins, although Rutgers kept things close throughout. Could fatigue become a factor with a heavy (9 games) schedule in April? (socrlaxdad) — #13. How does this team lose any games ... or play close ones with all that talent? What has happened; more importantly, what will happen? (Turtles Lax) — Rutgers needed something after being drug in the mud all week and took it to the Orange before a 4-goal run in the last 11 minutes allows Syracuse to escape an upset in Piscataway! (UnderArmourOdor)

Notre Dame: Almost get knocked off by Louisville, needs a top 10 test. (D-Lax) — The Irish did what the Tar Heels didn't - beat a team they're "supposed" to beat. It may have taken OT to get the job done, but Notre Dame is now 10-0 and deserves at top-five ranking for their efforts so far this season. We'll see this week whether the Irish can stay here. (DallasLaxDad) — The Fighting Irish have bent but they have not broken. With the depth ND has in attack, combined with a great season from the defense, the Irish are making waves. This ND team has a number of players that can make plays, and these tests will keep them going far. (draw18) — #7. Mastropieri comes off the bench this weekend to score game-winning goal in both games. I don't know who came up with those god-awful looking shorts worn by the Irish women's bball team last night ... sure hope the Irish lady laxers don't wear them. (johnnyboy) — My love fest with ND is over. Their one-goal OT win over Louisville was proof I had them too high, so down they go. (LadyLaker) — Struggled with the Cardinals but gutted it out. (Lionwatcher) — #6. Being 9-0 is very good. Being taken to 2OT by Louisville, not so good. Still, ND moves to #6. (mytwokeepers) — My rank: 7. Remain (barely) undefeated. I would elevate SB to this slot but do not believe Seawolves will consistently defeat classically competitive university's (such as N.D. etc.), as have not done so yet. SB needs more seasoning/exposure or GIANT program win. (Rafterjack) — #7. Irish live dangerously and squeak by Louisville in OT before getting breather with Cincy. (slides2) — The 10-0 Irish will face four top 20 teams in their next six games before heading to the Big East Tourney. (socrlaxdad) — #8. TL is starting to drop ND as TL predicts at least 4 L's in next 5 games. (Turtles Lax) — Irish road swing starts with a rusty first half and took OT to deal with the Cards, but second game is better over Bearcats ... still undefeated. (UnderArmourOdor)

Duke: Two-game losing streak; three games lost in conference; and now have to play a first round ACC tourney game. It's been a bad week in Durham. Duke falls to no. 9; and, after losing to BC, I feel like that is almost a gift. (DallasLaxDad) — The Duke Blue Devils are again among the nation's most talented teams; it is just a matter of their putting it all together each and every game. Duke has done that with regularity, and with players like Taylor Virden and Taylor Trimble, Duke can go far. Kelsey Duryea continues to shine for Duke. (draw18) — #8. Fourth in their conference but still a top 10 team?? Illogical but true. (johnnyboy) — It ain't PC, but BC's God connections are strong ... the Blue Devils found out the hard way. (LadyLaker) — An aberration or a telling loss to the Eagles? (Lionwatcher) — #8. Duke loses to Boston College??? But I thought Duke was very good ... I didn't even have BC ranked ... I might have to retire from this poll. Or at least rank BC. (mytwokeepers) — A bad loss to the Eagles. (novaglax) — My rank: 6. Surprised by loss to fellow ACC, Boston College Eagles. Remains at the TOP of the middle, however! (Rafterjack) — #8. Devils falter at end second week in a row. Against UNC it was understandable, against BC, not so much. (slides2) — Duke drops a close one at BC and slips behind the Eagles in the ACC standings with their conference play completed. Traveling to Lakeside to face the 'Cats is no recipe for a rebound. (socrlaxdad) — #10. Back-to-back losses have Duke on the ropes. (Turtles Lax) — Eagles are just as inhospitable to Duke as they were to Hoos, getting their first ACC win over the visitors from Durham. (UnderArmourOdor)

Georgetown: The Hoyas are playing better than Duke right now - obviously, given the Tar Heels' loss to BC. So, Georgetown rises above Duke, to no. 6. (DallasLaxDad) — Sophia Thomas and Kelyn Freedman are huge catalysts from the Hoyas, who combine the efforts of Caroline Tarzian and Ashley Hunter at both ends of the field to make GU a tough opponent. The Hoyas play a nice brand of team ball that makes them very effective. (draw18) — #5. Hoyas impress me more each week. No superstar, low save percentage, but this squad has played solid ball all over the field and limits the number of good shots by their opponents. Working well for them. (johnnyboy) — Hoyas put on a solid performance against the Hounds in their own Dog Pound. (LadyLaker) — Took care of the Greyhounds. (Lionwatcher) — #7. With an efficient 8-2 season, Georgetown has cobbled together a very nice year so far. (mytwokeepers) — My rank: 9. Who knows - is a hunch. Hoyas seem to be quietly more than holding their own in this vast ... middle ... ground of top 20 poll. (Rafterjack) — #6. Hoyas look sharp in hard-fought win over Loyola. (slides2) — 8-2 Hoyas only two losses were against top 10 teams - and two of their next six are against top 10 teams ... add in the pesky UConn and Rutgers squads, and Coach Fried starts having Big East nightmares. (socrlaxdad) — #6. (Turtles Lax) — Hoyas hold Hounds at bay. After being knotted at 10 apiece, Saxa Laxa wins going away in Charm City and can look past a Golden Eagles roast to the trip to South Bend! (UnderArmourOdor)

Penn State: I've got the Nittany Lions at 13 mostly on the basis of the win over Florida. (DallasLaxDad) — The Nittany Lions have a tough, fast midfield that has shown they can compete in the upper echelon of the national scene. With Tatum Coffey leading the charge for State, the combination of the talent of Katie Guy in the back and Kelly Lechner up front make PSU a tough opponent. (draw18) — #9. Reality check for the Nittanies as they were just never in the game against NU. Still tied for second in ALC and own tie-breaker over Gators. (johnnyboy) — They lost BIG to NU, but I still believe they can rebound and make a statement. (LadyLaker) — Even on the loss to the Cats, I think they are still top 10. (Lionwatcher) — #11. Last week PSU beats up on Florida to capture my attention; this week PSU gets beaten up by NU to make me question my strong support for them. Coupled with their early season losses to Cornell and UVa, the Lions drop from #8 to #11. (mytwokeepers) — I honestly thought this could of been the upset of the week ... But not to be. (novaglax) — My rank: 11. Where else? More of the middling middle to my way of thinking. (Rafterjack) — #9. Lady Lions, high off the big win over Florida, generate nothing in particular at Lakeside Field. (slides2) — After beating the Gators in the previous week, I expected a bit more from the Lions this week at NU ... they fall to my #9. (socrlaxdad) — #9. Penn State can be really, really good when they want to be really, really good. Now face tough end of season slate and then a truly tough ALC tourney. (Turtles Lax) — Northwestern SID says, ďThe Nittany Lions did themselves no favors in their attempt to make up ground, drawing three second-half yellow cards.Ē eshea says only 10 shots didnít help either! (UnderArmourOdor)

Denver: Denver may be this year's surprise team. #12. (D-Lax) — Could we be looking at tournament games out West??? Denver closes out my top 10. (DallasLaxDad) — Kate Henrich is having a monster season, and Denver has staked its claim as one of the teams under discussion in the national scene thanks to her. With Jenn Etzel leading the charge offensively and Hannah Hook more than holding her own in the cage, the Pioneers are here to stay. (draw18) — #10. Big win by Denver over Stanford kept game in hand the entire contest. Settled debate over who is best in the West ... for now. (johnnyboy) — Pioneers leap to #6 in my poll. Denver is shooting it up in the Wild, Wild West. (LadyLaker) — Best of the West. (Lionwatcher) — #9. I had Denver ranked below Stanford last week. Obviously I was wrong. (mytwokeepers) — #12. Pioneers make big statement with win over Stanford but almost blow it against UC Davis. (slides2) — Big win over Stanford sets the Pioneers up as the expected MPSF #1 seed for the tourney in early May. (socrlaxdad) — #5. Best of the West ... by far. (Turtles Lax) — TOPTM had it right with Pioneers above Stanford, and that is how it went in the Mile High City. (UnderArmourOdor)

Stony Brook: Another nice win for the Seawolves; no. 12. (DallasLaxDad) — Stony Brook continues to get better and better, and that's a bad outlook for the rest of the America East and the nation in general. With the veteran experience of Michelle Rubino, Claire Petersen and Demmianne Cook, and talent everywhere around the field, the Seawolves will go far in 2013. (draw18) — #11. Does a Seawolf eat fish? Well if they do, they ate up two big ones as they easily devoured A10 rivals Albany and UMBC. (johnnyboy) — SB came to Baltimore, ate crabs, watched the O's and, oh yeah, beat UMBC. (LadyLaker) — As Charlie Seen says, "Winning". (Lionwatcher) — #10. Joe and his Stony Brook players just keep on winning. (mytwokeepers) — My rank: 8. See above, Larry. Still remains also for SB, a weak schedule! (Rafterjack) — #11. Seawolves dominating America East. (slides2) — Eco-friendly recycling of last week's comment - "The Seawolves are 11-2 ... and look to be the cream of the America East crop." (socrlaxdad) — #25. (Turtles Lax) — Seawolves come to Charm City and put it on the Retrievers to beat its last squad with a winning record, and LGL says 14 and 2 baby! (UnderArmourOdor)

Navy: The Mids continue to beat those they're "supposed" to beat - again, unlike Duke. So, Navy rises to no. 7. (DallasLaxDad) — The Mids have a huge talent in Jasmine DePompeo, and Aimee Gennaro, and combined with the athleticism and lacrosse IQ of this team, Navy has the potential to again win the Patriots and advance in the NCAA tournament. They do not back down from challenges, and that just makes them stronger. (draw18) — #13. This time of year has to be as ho-hum for the Midshipmen as it is for us that follow them. Another week of this and then perhaps we will see Navy challenged by Jacksonville and American. (johnnyboy) — Navy wins ... again. Colgate next week, and this should be the Mids' only test other than NU earlier in the season. (LadyLaker) — Ship sailing straight toward Pat League top. (Lionwatcher) — #15. Okay, Navy is 13-1. Since there are few teams in the Mosh Pit that I really like, Navy gets to move up the board from my #20 to #15. (mytwokeepers) — #10. Beat Longwood and Holy Cross. Ho-hum. (slides2) — #7. (Turtles Lax) — Mids continue to roll through the competition going medieval on the Lancers and Crusaders! (UnderArmourOdor)

Virginia: I just can't keep Virginia on my ballot this week. There are too many other .500 clubs - like BC, which beat the Hoos - deserving a spot. (DallasLaxDad) — The Cavaliers continue to play up and down ball and that inconsistency makes it tough for them. Courtney Swan is doing a very nice job for the Wahoos, who are a fast team that can create when they let it happen. (draw18) — What is left to be said about the Cavaliers? I admire that they play a touch schedule. I acknowledge that they have a couple of good wins and narrowly lost to some very good teams. But they find themselves fighting to stay out of last place in the ACC. Just have to exclude UVa from my top 20. (johnnyboy) — UVa is up and down, just like the rolling hills it's nestled in. This week is up with a win against a weaker American and then down with a loss to the Cats. (LadyLaker) — Started well but then locked down by some defensive Cats. (Lionwatcher) — #13. Virginia wanted to make a statement by beating up on Northwestern. "Wanting" and "doing" are two very different things, as the Wildcats help the 'Hoos prove how mediocre they are. Virginia falls from my #11 to #13. (mytwokeepers) — My rank: 12 Tie. Keep hanging around, do Cavaliers. Seems any team in ACC (other than Eagles, Va. Tech ... although Va. Tech has a better record than UVa) has right to be ranked #10 and above? (Rafterjack) — #15. American no match for Hoos, Northwestern another story. (slides2) — Hoos show no fear of stormtroopers away from the frozen Planet Windlake, but rebellion is stamped out in second half. Goal with 29 seconds shows scorn for conquered. (UnderArmourOdor)

Massachusetts: OT and a one-goal win - but, hey, they're wins! UMass climbs past the Ivies and lands at 14. (DallasLaxDad) — The Minutewomen are holding their own, despite getting each team's best efforts as they work to take down a UMass team that is consistently in the hunt. Katie Ferris is having another top-notch season, and the Kelseys (McGovern and Sheridan) in the back combine to make a formidable defense. (draw18) — #14. Must be a misprint - one-goal victories for UMass? Don't they usually win by big margins and lose by big margins? Must be a misprint. (johnnyboy) — The South rose again! Richmond and GW gave UMass a Robert E. Lee fit on the field. UMass barely pulls out wins over each. Bet they aren't whistling Dixie! (LadyLaker) — Tough down the stretch of games impresses me. (Lionwatcher) — #19. As a nod to 10-2, UMass earns slot #19. (mytwokeepers) — #14. Win two squeakers over Richmond and GW. (slides2) — #11. Barely got past awful Spiders and narrowly escaped with a win in previously unheard of "BIG GAME" with GW. (Turtles Lax) — Minutemen leave it to last minute in OT game against the Spiders and hang on against Colonials. (UnderArmourOdor)

Princeton: With losses to Virginia (who I have as unranked) and Rutgers (who I have at 18), I just can't move Princeton onto my ballot yet. (DallasLaxDad) — The Princeton attack is deep, and when it is also talented as it is, that makes it tough for opponents. Jaci Gassaway leads a group of scorers, including Erin Slifer and Erin McMunn. (draw18) — #12. The Ivy Tigers tied for first in league play and poised to take on Maryland this week. Will be a good chance to assess their progress since early losses to Gtown, Rutgers and UVa. (johnnyboy) — Beat the Yalies. (LadyLaker) — Likely have these Tigers too high but cannot figure this year out after maybe top 10. (Lionwatcher) — #16. I don't have to like the Tigers to rank them, do I? (mytwokeepers) — My rank: 10. Taking a chance on Tigers. Storied potential. Goal working. Have leadership at defense. Can score! (Rafterjack) — #13. Tigers have clean slate in Ivy League but must visit Terpdome next. (slides2) — #22. Last Ivy standing until large check from Rafterjack showed up on the doorstep. (Turtles Lax) — Eli fall to Tigers, but now the cats head to College Park. Better bring the Cat Lady! (UnderArmourOdor)

Stanford: Loss to Denver hurts, but the Cardinal still get my no. 15 vote. (DallasLaxDad) — Stanford has a host of scorers, most noticeably Rachel Ozer. Lucy Dikeou has been a huge addition to the Cardinal lineup this season, and she will continue to learn much from Nina Swanson and Anna Kim and other veterans. (draw18) — Cardinal will get another chance in the MPSF tournament but loss to Denver knocks them from my top 20. (johnnyboy) — Lost to Denver, but the Cardinal can still make some noise. (LadyLaker) — Second best in the West. Dancing anyway? (Lionwatcher) — #12. I had Stanford ranked above Denver last week. Obviously I was wrong. (mytwokeepers) — My rank: 12 Tie. Moving up with me. Maybe long season will bring about reincarnation of Cardinal. I am tending in that direction. (Rafterjack) — #17. Fresno State no sweat, but Denver more than Cardinal can handle. (slides2) — Road loss at Denver hurts the Cardinal ... but not as much as it helps the Pioneers. (socrlaxdad) — #12. Up and down team is down again this week. (Turtles Lax) — TOPTM has their loss not an upset. Other polls that get it wrong have to adjust! (UnderArmourOdor)

Dartmouth: Beat Cornell, but the earlier loss to Vermont still has me wondering about the Big Green. No. 16. (DallasLaxDad) — #15. Hope is renewed in Hanover after Green shows Red who is BIGGER in the Ivy. I'll move Dartmouth back up but am still skeptical. (johnnyboy) — Always bet on Green ... Dartmouth pulls out a big win over Cornell. (LadyLaker) — Nice win by Green vs. Red. Green jelling? (Lionwatcher) — My rank: 19. Did what they needed to do (again, at home), strongly rebuffing Big Red (again). May yet be able to hold onto dreams, Dartmouth, but Penn (Friday, Dunning-Cohen, Philly) and Princeton (20th, Hanover) coming up. (Rafterjack) — #16. Green regain momentum with big stop of Cornell. (slides2) — #23. (Turtles Lax) — Big color battle goes to the home squad, as the other is red-faced by coming up small again. (UnderArmourOdor)

Cornell: Dropping the Big Red below Dartmouth, to 17, after this week's loss to the Big Green. (DallasLaxDad) — Things were going so well ... four-game losing streak puts Cornell's Ivy tournament hopes at risk and knocks Big Red out on my top 20.. (johnnyboy) — Big Red lost to an even Bigger Green. (LadyLaker) — Red faltering a bit. (Lionwatcher) — #22. With four straight losses, my early Cornell crush has proved to be just another case of wasted energy. Does "Cornell Crush" sound like an energy drink? (mytwokeepers) — My rank: 20. Air out of this balloon, it seems. May though have two more Ivy victories ... but surely they will seem some hollow. Win over Brown - 13th, might (likely will) get them into tourney. Leaders in Ancient Eight have, however, it seems, spoken. (Rafterjack) — #19. Big Red suddenly in tailspin after great start. (slides2) — Four straight losses send the Big Red out of my top 20. (socrlaxdad) — Spiral continues for Big Red, who canít handle Big Green ... had better beat the next color ... Brown before seeing an Orange team in the Dome! (UnderArmourOdor)

Johns Hopkins: Not competitive against Florida, so still on the outside looking in. (DallasLaxDad) — Lost to Fla. (LadyLaker) — Loss to the Gators not fatal. (Lionwatcher) — #17. I want Hopkins to be better then they really are. I want them to be scrappy, tough, and proud. Losing by 10 to Florida showed none of that. (mytwokeepers) — #24. Meh. (slides2) — Jays lose at #2 Gators. Not unexpected ... but not close either. They drop one spot to #16. (socrlaxdad) — Trip to Fla. reminds me of the Far Side cartoon of Blue Jay Sky Diving School next to Japís Gator Farm ... caption Trouble Brewing! (UnderArmourOdor)

Connecticut: The Huskies are now 9-1. They beat Rutgers, who I had at 18 and which was one point out of TOPTM last week. And, UConn closed the weekend with a 2OT victory over Villanova. The Huskies now start off my second 10. (DallasLaxDad) — #16. Huskies must still face Louisville, Hoyas, Irish and Loyola. Still wouldn't you want to be 9-1 going into those games. Going to give UConn ranking props for YTD accomplishments. (johnnyboy) — #18. 8-1 keeps the Huskies a quiet favorite of mine. (mytwokeepers) — #15. (Turtles Lax) — Huskies continue to knock on the door of Top 20, but OT win over ĎNova isnít enough! (UnderArmourOdor)

Boston College: A .500 team, but they've now beaten Virginia and Duke - and in the process have knocked the Hoos off my ballot. The Eagles get my no. 19 vote. (DallasLaxDad) — The Eagles seem to be back on track, and that will happen as BC makes an adjustment from the top. When you have the talent of a Mikaela Rix and Covie Stanwick combined with the addition of a Sarah Mannelly, good things are going to happen. (draw18) — #18. Win over Duke this week marks another milestone for the BC Eagles. Last season they displaced Virginia for 4th in the regular season standings. This season they take third. Trending in the right direction. (johnnyboy) — #14. Beating UVa and Duke in back to back games makes Boston College the newest team to distinguish themselves in the Mosh Pit. In fact, they jump from unranked to #14. (mytwokeepers) — #20. Acacia Walker must be doing something right. (slides2) — #19. Have these Eagles fledged? (Turtles Lax)

Louisville: Took Notre Dame to OT, but I just can't justify giving the Cardinals a point when I've got Loyola falling to unranked. (DallasLaxDad) — Louisville has not stepped down from their opening day win and has backed it up with each game they play. Nikki Boltja is a tough player and combined with Kate Olivero and Monica Negron, Louisville has placed itself on the map. (draw18) — #20. Cardinals almost knock off the undefeated Irish and join their basketball brothers and sisters in victory. Louisville just seems to need that one extra something to turn narrow defeats into victories. Giving them my last top 20 spot. (johnnyboy) — #21. Give Cards credit for nearly beating Notre Dame. (slides2) — #16. Totally falling apart and serious doubt about quals for BE tourney. (Turtles Lax) — Cards fall wrong against undefeated Irish. (UnderArmourOdor)

Loyola: Once again with a below .500 record, the Greyhounds fall off my ballot again. (DallasLaxDad) — The Greyhounds are starting to get some of that consistency from a young team that is being led by a strong sophomore contingent. Annie Thomas and Hannah Schmitt are both scorers for Loyola, and as the young players keep growing, LC gets stronger. (draw18) — Outside looking in. (Lionwatcher) — #22. Hounds stay with Hoyas but crumble at bitter end. (slides2) — 'Hounds are back under .500 with a close loss to Georgetown, but are too good to be out of the top 20. (socrlaxdad) — #17. Offense seems back on track but defense failing woefully. (Turtles Lax) — Canít pull the upset of visiting Hoyas and now head to South Bend for another BE showdown. (UnderArmourOdor)

Penn: #17. Tied for 1st in the Ivy at 4-0. Showdown with Dartmouth this week will give one of them their 1st Ivy loss. (johnnyboy) — My rank: 17. Consistent wins in Ivy. Seeing again some of this team's and this coach's grit. (Rafterjack) — #18. Relatively light lifting for Quakers with Lehigh and Columbia, but Dartmouth looms. (slides2) — Quakers are 4-0 in the Ivy. (socrlaxdad) — ďOver the past 16 seasons, Penn has had control if its series with Ivy rival Columbia, winning each match-up. On Saturday, the Quakers extended that streak to 17 with a 13-8 win over the Lions in the Big Apple.Ē Modest too! (UnderArmourOdor)

Rutgers: Rutgers hangs with the Orange. #19. (D-Lax) — Tough week for Rutgers in a whole lot of ways. The WLaxers played well against UConn and Syracuse but lost. Considering they've beaten Penn, Princeton, and Delaware, Rutgers still gets my no. 18 vote. (DallasLaxDad) — Nobody on the lacrosse team resigned. Pushed the Orange to the limit. Real deal. (Lionwatcher) — #14. Big gaffe contributed mightily in important loss to Da 'Cuse, but Rutgers doesn't lose much ground here. (Turtles Lax) — These Knights donít have to be Scarlet-faced like the rest of the Athletic Department, as they joust with Cuse! (UnderArmourOdor)

Ohio State: The Buckeyes just need to stick with the consistency that they have reached after a rough start, and the talent they have on this squad will make it easier. With Jackie Cifarelli and Tayler Kuzma back on track, this team is deep and ready to make a run. (draw18) — #23. Buckeyes overwhelm hapless Vandy. (slides2)

Jacksonville: 9-3 is good enough to earn a point from my ballot. (DallasLaxDad) — The Dolphins must show well against UNC this week and upset Navy later to have any chance at an at-large bid for the NCAA tournament. (johnnyboy) — #18. Still here ... for how long this week may tell. (Turtles Lax)

Drexel: #19. Currently the top team in the Colonial, Dragons are poised to make a strong finish. (johnnyboy) — #20. Drexel is at the bottom of my Top 20. I have circulated at least three teams through this spot in the making of this poll, so I am clearly not committed ... even if my darling wife would like to have me committed. (mytwokeepers) — #20. Welcome back, Dragons. (Turtles Lax)

Towson: I am keeping Towson in my Top 20 b/c I am believer! (LadyLaker) — Tigers beat Dukes in the Valley. (UnderArmourOdor)

James Madison: Also keeping JMU in my Top 20 b/c I believe. (LadyLaker) — #21. JMU hasn't beat a single team in my Top 20, yet they had been in my Top 20, mostly out of respect for the Office of the Presidency. Losing to Towson knocks them out. (mytwokeepers)

Other Teams Pollsters Considered (and comments, if any)

. Albany: #21. 2nd chance in TOPTM. TL is all for underdogs and real Dawgs. (Turtles Lax)

. Brown: I can't ever remember commenting on the Browns in TOPTM - ever. So here is to the Brown Bears: 9-2, 2-2 in the Ivy and in a position to capture 4th place. (johnnyboy)

. California: Gotta love the Golden Bears. Strong win over the Ducks and they are still undefeated in MPSF play! (LadyLaker)

. American: In one week ... out the next. (novaglax)

. Connectucut: #25. Narrow wins over Rutgers and Villanova have Huskies at 9-1. (slides2)

. San Diego State: #24. (Turtles Lax)
