Pollsters' Comments About Teams They Ranked

Maryland: Top seed for the top team in the land ... there, I said it. TL may die peacefully now. (Artemis3) — Week off after ACC championship win. #1. (D-Lax) — Only question remaining is if the Terps can win them both on Memorial Day weekend. Yes, I'm assuming they'll get there. (DallasLaxDad) — The Terrapins are a complete package from top to bottom, and with the scoring talent they have with the remarkable work they have done down low, Maryland looks like the top seed yet again. (draw18) — #1. ... for in six days the TERPS made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day they rested and were refreshed. Terps have 11 quality wins and one loss for a johnnyboy score of 21. (johnnyboy) — ACC champs and heading into the Memorial Day Marathon as #1. (LadyLaker) — #1. A deserved week off. (Lionwatcher) — #1 This team knows from 2013 that the NCAA trophy isn't handed out on May 4th. Keep proving yourself, Terps. (LowD09) — #1. #1, Duh! I keep telling TL not to make fun of the Blue Hairs. He doesn't listen! Check MD's bracket. Who is laughing under their hairdryers this morning? (Lucky Laxer) — #1. No doubt in this pollster's mind ... Terps are #1, and it should be unanimous. (mytwokeepers) — #1. No question here. Terps are tops. Six straight ACC titles. (Palmtree) — #1. One loss. Great job, Terps. My hat is off to you! Think you, Carolina again; then again, maybe, Orange. But this year, though, think it is you ... to win. (Rafterjack) — #1. Sitting pretty at number one. (slides2) — #1. (Turtles Lax) — #1. Turtles rest as #1 seed for NCAAs! (UnderArmourOdor)

Syracuse: Good win vs. a very stubborn Loyola. Now, about that monkey on their back. (Artemis3) — Orange survive a Greyhound scare and stay at #2. (D-Lax) — In the pre-season poll I had the Orange no. 3 but questioned whether they might be the best in the nation. They have one hill they haven't climbed, but as the saying goes, perhaps the third time is the charm. No. 2 to end the regular season. (DallasLaxDad) — Syracuse has shown an ability to put the ball in the back of the net, and with the talent in the attacking line, this continues to be a feature of the Orange. As long as they can hold their own defensively, SU will return to the final weekend. (draw18) — #2. Orange pull one off at end over Loyola, maybe they should have rested this week too. "Cuse actually have a higher johnnyboy score at 22, but two losses to Terps gets them a quality adjustment down for 2nd spot. (johnnyboy) — Knock, knock. Who's there? Orange you afraid that you can't beat the same team 3x in a season? (LadyLaker) — #2. Waiting to host a dance party after outlasting the Greyhounds. (Lionwatcher) — #3 This team has not played well since they beat UNC, and this is not the time to be sliding. (LowD09) — #2. Little closer than they wanted with Loyola. Still, they're a solid #2 in my poll. Date with MD in the near future? (Lucky Laxer) — #2. Loyola "coulda, woulda, shoulda," but didn't knock Syracuse out of the #2 slot. (mytwokeepers) — #2. Orange are sooo close again. (Palmtree) — #2. I sense some modicum of late season let-down. Lower/larger margins, Carolina/Maryland; problem with Loyola not going away etc. Cornell/Albany scores. NO again this year? (Rafterjack) — #2. Orange have to scramble in final moments to avoid upset by Loyola. (slides2) — #2. Come from behind win over 'Hounds seals #2 spot in the NCAA bracket for Da 'Cuse. (PS: This was written at 0818, EDT, May 4.) TL is pretty sure about this. (Turtles Lax) — #2. The coach willed back the Orange to score the last five goals in a Dome comeback against the Hounds. (UnderArmourOdor)

Florida: Two very impressive wins to lead the ALC champs into the tournament. Should be a good run for the Gators. (Artemis3) — Gators take ALC over Purple Cats in another one-goal win. #3. (D-Lax) — The ALC champs enter the tournament no. 3 by this accounting and with a real chance of hoisting the trophy. But Denver will not be a push-over. (DallasLaxDad) — The Gators have shown their ability not only to react and adapt to situations, but also to excel. Shannon Gilroy is dangerous and a great centerpiece for this team, but the support she has around her is strong. Taylor Bresnahan has become a key. (draw18) — #3. Gators take home last ALC crown in final over the team formerly the best of the conference. Fine season with 14 johnnyboy points. (johnnyboy) — ALC champs. (LadyLaker) — #3. Ready to dance after a fabulous second half at the Lake. (Lionwatcher) — #2 Do they give trophies to teams that can beat Northwestern, twice, in Evanston? They do? Congrats to the final ALC champions. (LowD09) — #3. Moving the Gators to my #3 for the first time this year. Beating NU twice in five days! Better chance of some partners with a hayseed owner and 77-year-old trainer winning the Kentucky Derby than that happening! Or Denver beating them? (Lucky Laxer) — #4. Statement win against the Evil Empire. The #4 Gators are not a team anyone wants in their bracket. (mytwokeepers) — #4. Gilroy is hard to stop, and with ALC coach of the year look for the Gators to make it to final four. (Palmtree) — #4. Strong play here lately, Gators. Always best to surge at the end, at playoff time. Even chances it seems, if you PRESS THE THING! But will next year's first game again be against the number one team in the nation? (Rafterjack) — #3. We knew they were fast and athletic, now we know they are incredibly resilient as well. (slides2) — #3. Mildcats were even tastier than last time, TL suspects. (Turtles Lax) — #3. Gators go to the Home of the Empire and have an epic second half, as the Deathstar stall shocks even LGL ... I second his greasy thanks to the Big 10 Network! (UnderArmourOdor)

North Carolina: Some brutal injuries have the Heels limping into the tournament. But, they are big game players and should get back to the Final Four. (Artemis3) — Rest period before NCAA tourney starts. #4. (D-Lax) — Will the couple weeks off since the ACC semifinal loss give the Heels a chance to regain their early-season mojo? North Carolina enters the tournament as the no. 4 team on this ballot but has a tough road to Memorial Day weekend. (DallasLaxDad) — The Tar Heels went through some rough stretches midway through the season, but this experienced and talented team has the ability and knowledge to be able to repeat as champions. A solid front line and a veteran defense make for a good combination. (draw18) — #4. UNC took a week to rest after the but probably needed a mental break more than physical one. Nevertheless, there are dozens of teams that wish they had a johnnyboy score of 12. (johnnyboy) — Heels' dreams of a repeat have become nightmares in the past few weeks. Can they take Sominex and wake up as natl. champs again? (LadyLaker) — #4. Licking their wounds and channeling 2013. (Lionwatcher) — #5 Ended their season 3-4; this team is vulnerable. (LowD09) — #4. The only team to beat MD loses to Syracuse twice, NU, and Duke? One of these things is not like the other. (Lucky Laxer) — #3. Still #3, but the Tar Heels are so beaten up by injuries, I have my doubts. (mytwokeepers) — #3. Tons of talent - beat the Terps but some losses late in season. (Palmtree) — #3. Barely elevated Heels over Gators here. They have been strong (of late). But do, perhaps, see you and Terps at the end. THEIR consistency inclines me to believe they will win out. (Rafterjack) — #4. Everybody has forgotten about the Heels, but they are more or less in the position they were in a year ago. (slides2) — #4. (Turtles Lax) — #4. Bruised Heels had it going early in the year but go 3-4 down the stretch and Gator finish overcomes their start. (UnderArmourOdor)

Boston College: No one team should be more fired up about their suspect seeding than the Eagles. I wouldn't want to be the team to play them. (Artemis3) — Convincing win over crosstown rival, BU. #5. (D-Lax) — The Eagles should not only be hosting; they should have a first round bye. BC at no. 5. (DallasLaxDad) — The Eagles have been flying under the radar a bit, but you cannot discount them. They have proven scorers up top, and they have a team that has shown they can win. Experience is going to be key for BC. (draw18) — #8. According to my johnnyboy score of 1, I have been over-ranking the Eagles all year - no more. (johnnyboy) — The most underrated (so most dangerous) team in the mix. (LadyLaker) — #5. Repairing their wings so they fly straight while dancing. (Lionwatcher) — #7 I want so badly for this team to make the Final Four. Coach Walker and the Eagles have cracked the ceiling. I want to see them finally bust through! (LowD09) — #5. Really, really think this team is a goalie away from being great. A .311 team SP and they're 13-5? Those five losses were by 10 goals. And they get hosed by the NCAA. Show them! (Lucky Laxer) — #6. BC earned my love with a strong mid-season that included losses to top teams. I am tempted to drop them one slot, but why bother? BC remains #6. (mytwokeepers) — #5. Eagles get no respect in NCAA brackets - I like them at 5. (Palmtree) — #6. Historic results. Top 10 team now. Congratulations! Someone we are talking about. Why, just the other day. (Rafterjack) — #5. Interesting match-up with either UMass or Loyola in the offing. (slides2) — #8. Took out frustrations on neighborhood rival. (Turtles Lax) — #5. Eagles only the #6 seed in the ACCs takes out anger on crosstown Terriers! (UnderArmourOdor)

Northwestern: They fell apart in the second half against Florida. Now they await the winner of Ohio State/Louisville. Good news ... they will play at home. (Artemis3) — One-goal loss to the Gators in ALC championship. #6. (D-Lax) — Prediction: Northwestern won't win on May 11, whether the opponent is Louisville or (in a rubber match) Ohio State. Since when does NU lose the second half of a game? But I'm moving the Cats up to no. 8 after they avenged the earlier loss to OSU. (DallasLaxDad) — The Wildcats have Alyssa Leonard, and her ability to control the ball--on the circle and in the attack--is phenomenal. With more 'Cats dangerous in the attack and when Bianco is on, NU can return to the final weekend. (draw18) — #5. Despite the seven losses, the Cats have 7 QWs giving them a johnnyboy score of 7. (johnnyboy) — Gator-chomped by the girls with the best tans in D1 lax. (LadyLaker) — #6. Revenge is a staple of the Wildcats' diet. Tried to serve it twice, but the second serving was undercooked. (Lionwatcher) — #4 Wildcats have had a dynasty-inevitable year of 6 losses; however, 5 were by only ONE goal. It's May, it's tournament time, and KAH and Co. will be ready. (LowD09) — #7. You know NU's not doing well when Larry says, "I'm shocked that NU had a 5-goal lead and came up with an L. Very unusual that something of that nature happens to NU." Whoda thunk it? Or that they'd host and get a bye? (Lucky Laxer) — #5. Northwestern always wins the second half ... but not against the Gators in the ALC finale. They get #5. (mytwokeepers) — #6. Cats are fighting everyday, but that is how KAH likes it. (Palmtree) — #5. Know who you are now. Took a while. Solid season and/but we EXPECT miracles, alas. (Rafterjack) — #6. For the first time that I can remember, KAH got out-coached. (slides2) — #14. (Turtles Lax) — #7. Deathstar implodes as rebels invade Starship Commodores beaten but Buckeye crew almost succeed before the Amphib people lead the revolt! (UnderArmourOdor)

Johns Hopkins: A tough ALC tournament, but the Blue Jays' tougher pill is their NCAA tournament seeding. They deserved better ... bring on the Hoyas. (Artemis3) — Lose big to Florida in ALC semi. #7. (D-Lax) — I still can't find a reason to slot Johns Hopkins below Northwestern. The Blue Jays may have the toughest road of all to the Final Four, but they also may be the surprise contestant on Memorial Day weekend. No. 6. (DallasLaxDad) — Taylor D'Amore and Dene DiMartino have kept the Blue Jays in the upper echelon all season long, and they are not about to stop now. With the emergence of Octavia Williams and Caroline Federico, JHU is playing very well and are very dangerous. (draw18) — #6. I think the Jays had the kind of season they hoped for, but I'll bet now they are anxious for more. NCAA tourney better suited to the Hop, who don't have the depth to play high-level consecutive game days as in conf. tourney. JB score of 5. (johnnyboy) — #7. Blue Jays finish pre-party with nice win over the Lions and predictable loss to Gators. (Lionwatcher) — #6 If the Jays can find consistency in the NCAA tournament, they will find success. (LowD09) — #6. Nice job, Hop! Tucker made a tough call hiring Steele. Nice move that! At this point, even Johnnyboy approves! Well, maybe. (Lucky Laxer) — #8. At #8 I have moved into "I don't know, I guess I'll give this slot to ______ territory." Guess I'll give the #8 slot to the Hop. After all, they did beat Penn State. (mytwokeepers) — #7. Props to the Jays for beating OSU and PSU among others. (Palmtree) — #7. Good close. I lifted you. Now go out there and make R.J. look good! (Rafterjack) — #8. Get revenge against Penn State, but no match for Florida. (slides2) — #11. 10-zip start tarnished by 5-4 finish. (Turtles Lax) — #6. Women of Steele pay back Nittany Lions for earlier upset but Gators too tough! (UnderArmourOdor)

Loyola: Great finish to the season. They look pretty good and got a great draw for the tournament. Looks like a BC/Loyola match up is on its way. (Artemis3) — Take Syracuse into OT in the Dome. Patriot League champions. #8. (D-Lax) — Loyola not only has a better record, the Greyhounds beat the Hoos, so I have Loyola slotted ahead of Virginia at Lucky 13. (DallasLaxDad) — Loyola has championship experience and the ability to score and defend well. This is a solid group of veteran players who have come together well over the season. When the 'Hounds are playing well, they are a formidable group. (draw18) — #10. Hounds are howling over a 0 JB score despite the three QWs - too many losses. (johnnyboy) — PL champs. Loyola ready to "hound' the bracket with some serious dog pounding. (LadyLaker) — #15. Squeezed the Orange but did not get the last drop. (Lionwatcher) — #11 Stopped talking about them for awhile, but it looks like they're back on the radar. Two-goal loss to Syracuse right before NCAAs? Yup, they're ready. (LowD09) — #8. Take the PL, take the Orange to OT and scare the pulp out of them, and take a breather before the dance. I'd rather have the Jehovah Witnesses than these Jesuits visiting my home next weekend. UMass, don't answer the door! (Lucky Laxer) — #7. Losing to Syracuse in overtime is nothing to be embarrassed by ... losing when you could have won just hurts. Pencil Loyola in at #7. (mytwokeepers) — #10. No easy road for the Hounds and no local fans in Beantown. (Palmtree) — #12. Despite 12-game 'streak' and OT against Orange, I'm not convinced you didn't suffer as to weak, league play. (Rafterjack) — #9. Almost pull off upset against Syracuse, much as they almost upset Florida earlier. This is a good team, but they need to hang in for 60 minutes. (slides2) — #6. Attempt to squeeze the Orange failed but doesn't hurt as good game experience thus garnered and spot on the NCAA dance card was already signed, sealed, and delivered. (Turtles Lax) — #8. Hounds find getting win 13th unlucky as they aren’t Dome broken! (UnderArmourOdor)

Ohio State: The match-up with Louisville will be a blood bath ... I can't wait. (Artemis3) — One-goal loss to Northwestern in ALC tourney. #9. (D-Lax) — Can the Buckeyes get past this year's sleeper to play a rubber match with Northwestern? Ohio State rounds out my top 10. (DallasLaxDad) — The Buckeyes have played well in the last two-thirds of the season thanks to the development of a multi-pronged attack that includes multiple sources of goals, making them a tough out. As long as Tori DeScenza is healthy, OSU is dangerous. (draw18) — #9. Buckeyes have some (4) QWs but more losses but too. Many losses leave OSU with only one JB point. (johnnyboy) — #10. Got revenged by the Cats. (Lionwatcher) — #8 Mid-season momentum sputtered a bit, but they can play with anyone. (LowD09) — #11. Yeah, they lost 2/3 this week. Yeah, close, but no cigars: I get that. Look at the entire season. This team made progress, even this week. Let's see how they play the Cards. (Lucky Laxer) — #13. Ohio State gets #13. (mytwokeepers) — #8. Tough first round game coming up - no one loves Buckeyes like they do the Cavaliers. (Palmtree) — #8. OK. You beat ND, Penn State. I have elevated you. You handled Northwestern earlier. Keep it up! (Rafterjack) — #7. Give Northwestern almost more than they can handle. (slides2) — #12. Six losses by total of just eight goals. (Turtles Lax) — #10. Buckeyes beat Wolverines by 4 saving up for huge effort against the Stormtroopers at their planet but revolution comes up a goal short. (UnderArmourOdor)

Penn State: They lose to Hopkins to end the season and now face the Princeton Tigers for the right to play the Hoos. It's a tough road, but Penn State could make a good run. (Artemis3) — ALC first round loss to Hopkins. #14. (D-Lax) — Penn State beat Princeton by a single goal and lost to Virginia by the same margin, and Princeton beat Virginia by a pair. So, I guess you'd say the grouping in Charlottesville is three evenly matched teams. No. 15. (DallasLaxDad) — Penn State has a phenomenal collection of lacrosse players that have talent and some experience. They can count on players all over the field to be able to get the job done, from Madison Cyr in the midfield to Lauren Purvis in the defense. (draw18) — #18. Would think Nittanies with 3 QWs would be like steak on the JB score but the losses put them at -2 ... that's ground round territory. (johnnyboy) — #8. Expected more than a roller coaster from the Nittany Lions. (Lionwatcher) — #15. (LowD09) — #18. eshea's donations to the Bittie Committee paid off! Not only is PSU dancing, but they could have Curly as a partner! Just need to feed more muskrat to those Jersey girls to ensure the pairing. I know he has some, right next to the hams! (Lucky Laxer) — #10. With a victory over a confusing Princeton team and a loss to JHU, Penn State falls a couple of slots but holds on to #10. (mytwokeepers) — #9. How does the saying go, lions and tigers and ... oh my! (Palmtree) — #9. (Rafterjack) — #10. Nittany Lions, as always, go pffft at Lakeside, even when they are not up against NU. (slides2) — #10. Woefully inconsistent Lions still a post-season threat. (Turtles Lax) — #11. Lions road woes continue at the Empires windy planet falling to the Women of Steele and end 3-5 away from Happy Valley! (UnderArmourOdor)

Virginia: Not quite sure how they got seeded above BC. The Hoos will await the winner of Princeton/Penn State. (Artemis3) — Take Duke in quarters and lost to Maryland in semis of ACC tourney. #10. (D-Lax) — Unlike the committee, I'm basing this no. 14 vote on UVa's 2014 results. Eight losses do not merit a no. 6 seed. (DallasLaxDad) — The Cavaliers have come on strong and with a group that includes Casey Bocklet running the show up top and Liz Colgan making impressive saves down low, UVa can move on when they are playing consistently. (draw18) — #12. A winning record and 4 QWs offset 8 losses for a JB score of zero. Sounds about right. (johnnyboy) — Wahoos as the 6th seed? NCAA needs a TOPTM tutorial in how to select their seeds. (LadyLaker) — #12. Best 6th best team in their own conference in the country. Ouch. (Lionwatcher) — #16. Clearly with my rankings [pre-selection show] of #14 Princeton and #15 Penn State, how this team is NCAA 6-seed is beyond me. (LowD09) — #10. A great week for the Hoos! Wait; what? Huh? They did not play? Well, anyway: A great week for the Hoos! Oh yeah, that hosting thingy is pretty nice, too! (Lucky Laxer) — #9. An idle UVa moves up a couple of slots to #9 based on other teams' failures. (mytwokeepers) — #11. This is a joke. NCAA gives Cavs a 6 seed and home field advantage - with a 10-8 record. (Palmtree) — #10. (Rafterjack) — #11. NCAA give them 6th seed, but they remain 11th in my book. (slides2) — #19. 10-8. (Turtles Lax) — #9. Hoos beat everyone in the ACC but the Turtles, Cuse and Heels and those three’s only losses not to each other were the Heels to NU and Blue Devils! (UnderArmourOdor)

Duke: At 9-7 they are gifted an NCAA birth ... the Cardinal is a tough test. (Artemis3) — Upset by Cavaliers early in ACC tourney. #11. (D-Lax) — The final spot on my ballot came down to Stony Brook and Duke. The OT win over North Carolina tilted the scale in the Devils' favor. (DallasLaxDad) — The Blue Devils have shown they can play with anyone, and their ability to score in bunches and hold teams off the scoreboard has created a tough match with a number of opponents. They need to develop more consistency, but each game they're a factor. (draw18) — #16. More was expected from the Blue Devils (at least by this pollster). Three QWs can't offset the 7 losses, so they end up with a -1 johnnyboy score. (johnnyboy) — #9. Must be hard for Blue Devils to take back seat to Turtles, Orange, Heels, and Eagles. (Lionwatcher) — #9 This team is playing very well recently. Dark horse. (LowD09) — #15. By far, this has been my most pleasurable year yet on TOPTM. Almost every week I got to vote Duke lower! And this year, they deserved it! (Lucky Laxer) — #11. Duke moves up to #11, mostly because no one ranked behind them impresses me. (mytwokeepers) — #12. And Duke at 9-7 gets to play in Indiana - ugh - I think there is still snow on the ground. (Palmtree) — #13. (Rafterjack) — #12. Devils may benefit from having to travel to Notre Dame. (slides2) — #15. (Turtles Lax) — #12. Loss to Hoos costs them an ACC semifinal berth and a Top 10 finish! (UnderArmourOdor)

Denver: The lady Pios make their second consecutive NCAA tournament ... this time as MPSF champs. Jacksonville awaits. (Artemis3) — MPSF champions. #12. (D-Lax) — Denver should be hosting, not traveling to Florida. Congrats to the MPSF champs, who stay at no. 7 after beating the Cardinal for the second time this season. (DallasLaxDad) — Denver is strong across the field, starting with Hannah Hook for the Pioneers. DU has won consistently, and claiming a championship cannot be overlooked. (draw18) — #7. Thanks to two wins over Stanford, Pioneers get 3 JB points. Starting to question my new system. (johnnyboy) — Best of the West. Ride 'em, cowgirls!! (LadyLaker) — #14. Best of the West. (Lionwatcher) — #18 Best of the MPSF, but how good is the MPSF? (LowD09) — #9. What more can DU do to get love? I'm not sharing these brownies with anyone that has Albany or UMass ranked higher than DU. Obviously, someone's been in them early. Gainesville, again? (Lucky Laxer) — #16. By far the Best in the West. Denver gets #16. (mytwokeepers) — #17. Jacksonville has a chance. (Palmtree) — #20. (Rafterjack) — #15. Show they are tops in the West. Get rewarded with yet another slog to Florida. (slides2) — #7. The wagon train is rolling. And the Pioneers deserve at least one HOME game. And maybe more. (Turtles Lax) — #14. Pios prove the “Best of the West” showing the Rocky Mountain way ... cue Joe Walsh for the victory parade! (UnderArmourOdor)

Massachusetts: Tough draw for UMass. Unfortunately, I think their season is stalled by a Greyhound bus. (Artemis3) — Will finally be tested in NCAA tourney. Can't wait. #15. (D-Lax) — Despite all the complaining about SOS, UMass ends the season with a no. 8 RPI and a top-10 LaxPower ranking. The Minutewomen kick off the second half of my ballot. (DallasLaxDad) — UMass has done well in creating yet another championship season, and the talent on this squad is impressive. Now comes their ability to show off that talent, and the question is how they will do against more consistent teams in the tournament. (draw18) — #15. Takes less than a minute to calculate UMass JB score with no QWs and one loss (-1). (johnnyboy) — A10 champs. (LadyLaker) — #13. A-10's A-1. (Lionwatcher) — #17 Honesty hurts, but weak SOS is not going to help this team in NCAAs. I don't see them going far. (LowD09) — #17. Mass is deliberately low. Show me I'm wrong; beat Loyola! 18-1 is a pretty ring, but up until now we can't tell if it is a diamond or a rhinestone. Well, the gemologist will be here Friday. (Lucky Laxer) — #12. UMass is 18-1 beating everyone with the exception of #5 Northwestern. I can't ignore this success even if it is against a suspect schedule. UMass is #12. (mytwokeepers) — #21. (Palmtree) — #14. (Rafterjack) — #13. Win conference tournament without too much trouble. Tough match-up with Loyola next. (slides2) — #5. (Turtles Lax) — #15. Minutewomen go 18-0 against unranked teams, 0-1 against the ranked one that played 13. (UnderArmourOdor)

Notre Dame: They play High Point and await the winner of Duke/Stanford. The Irish really are lucky. (Artemis3) — Three-game losing streak and boom! #19. (D-Lax) — Did the committee just want to avoid sending the Irish back to Chicago again? Notre Dame is no. 17. (DallasLaxDad) — Notre Dame has had an up and down season, but they are a very dangerous team from all aspects. They have proven scorers and they have been able to hold their own defensively. ND won't surprise anyone but can put together a tough game. (draw18) — #13. Irish have 4 QWs and 8 losses for a JB score of 0 even after going 1-5 in last six games. (johnnyboy) — #11. Are they going to dance with the Cats again? (Lionwatcher) — #12 Early exit. (LowD09) — #19. HPHaters held a closed door meeting. Rumor has it that there will be many blue and gold candles being lit. I was told, "HE gave us the the duck-billed platypus and the eagle, now we have HP and are hosting!" Sense of humor or divine retribution? (Lucky Laxer) — #14. Notre Dame has lost 5 of their last 6 games, and I still have them ranked #14. That does not speak highly of the teams ranked #15 and below. (mytwokeepers) — #14. Again the 8th seed and is 9-8. I know SOS, RPI, BS. (Palmtree) — #11. (Rafterjack) — #19. Huh? (slides2) — #25. (Turtles Lax) — #13. Can Irish bounce back from the back to back Orange squeezing? (UnderArmourOdor)

Louisville: A good win against Georgetown. They get a match-up with Ohio State. The survivor gets a date with the Purple People. (Artemis3) — Big East champions. #13. (D-Lax) — The Oscar for "Surprise of the Year" goes to the Big East champs, who enter the tournament on an 11-game roll. Prediction: Louisville will win the "pod" in Evanston. The Cardinals move up to no. 12 on my ballot. (DallasLaxDad) — The Cards have put together a championship season thanks to a collective effort from top to bottom. Faye Brust is a huge factor for UofL and this team's ability to get the job done can play a huge role for them. (draw18) — #14. A weak 2014 Big East field provides the Cardinals with but 1 QW and a -1 JB score despite a 15-3 record. (johnnyboy) — AE champs. (LadyLaker) — #19. Best of the Big Least. (Lionwatcher) — #10 “We don’t know who we’re playing, but it doesn’t matter because we’re Louisville” says it all. DARK HORSE ALERT! This team can beat Ohio State and Northwestern. (LowD09) — #12. I'm playing these Cards deep into May. Called GT's bluff and showed them for the poseurs they are. They get rewarded for their effort with OSU and GT dances anyway. (Lucky Laxer) — #15. Louisville gets the #15 slot. (mytwokeepers) — #13. Again conspiracy theorists listen - L'ville, OSU, and NU - and then there was one ... after only two rounds. (Palmtree) — #18. Strong close to the season. Whatever occurs in NCAAs, you are ready for 2015. Well done. Continue to rise. (Rafterjack) — #14. Big East champs! (slides2) — #9. Meet the Beast of the Big East. And just like butter and jam, they're on a roll. (Turtles Lax) — #17. Cards press release: "I had the ball with 4-5 seconds left, and I just threw it up in the air, and we all dogpiled. It was the most amazing feeling." 'Nough said! (UnderArmourOdor)

Penn: Another Ivy League title for the Quakers. And what do they get as a reward? A date with the Terps. (Artemis3) — Ivy League champions. #16. (D-Lax) — Avenging the early loss to Princeton moves the Quakers just ahead of a Georgetown squad they beat by a pair in early April. No. 18. (DallasLaxDad) — The Quakers notched another championship season thanks to their ability to grind out wins, and they have the talent to be able to make some noise. Penn can wear down teams, and that makes them a frustrating opponent. (draw18) — #19. Quakers were heading lower on my JB score until their Ivy league tourney win. Nonetheless, only 2 QWs still puts Penn at -2. (johnnyboy) — Ivy League champs. (LadyLaker) — #17. With all the bad weather, the Ivy did not flourish, but the Quakers prevailed. (Lionwatcher) — #13 Defense wins championships, and Penn knows defense. (LowD09) — #14. Quakers deliver! Cheesesteaks and Tastykakes for all! Rumor has it there will be no OT allowed against Canisius. Winner will be determined by the highest combined GPA and SAT scores of the players on the field. (Lucky Laxer) — #17. Penn wins the Ivies and avenges it's only questionable early season loss to Princeton with a 3-goal victory. Penn gets #17. (mytwokeepers) — #15. Quakers just sneak past Harvard but beat Princeton - who knows who is showing up. (Palmtree) — #15. Ha! Twenty-one shots to three. You mugged 'em. You caught 'em napping (again). No one catches you napping, however. Terrifically well done! (Rafterjack) — #16. Quakers save best for last in Ivy tourney. (slides2) — #13. (Turtles Lax) — #16. Quakes need OT to beat the Crimson but as LGL would say “elitist” press release stated “Princeton would finally find a modicum of momentum” but not enough. (UnderArmourOdor)

Princeton: A date with Penn State is on the way. The Tigers should win that one. (Artemis3) — Loss to Penn in Ivy championship. #17. (D-Lax) — For poetic reasons, I'm moving Princeton to no. 16, right behind the two squads that face off for the right to advance from Charlottesville. (DallasLaxDad) — The Tigers have shown they can play tough and hard for the whole season, and the collective ability of this team to come together has played them right into May. (draw18) — #22. The JB scoring system unmasks the Ivy in-conference vs. out-of-conference success. Tigers get JB score of -4. (johnnyboy) — #18. Second best but no dance? (Lionwatcher) — #14. (LowD09) — #16. Had these guys for the Ivy tournament win but let me down. (Palmtree) — #17. Lulled you to sleep. Maybe all-time classic example of where one team catches the other ... sleeping/cocky! You're so much better than that ... but. A little sad? (Rafterjack) — #17. Tigers forget to show up on their home field. (slides2) — #17. (Turtles Lax) — #20. Headline “Cat Lady Cries Again.” (UnderArmourOdor)

Stanford: A somewhat disappointing end to the regular season for the Cardinal. But all can be right again in the land of pleasant living with a win against Duke. (Artemis3) — Unable to come up with AQ and MPSF title. #18. (D-Lax) — The Cardinal beat tournament teams Ohio State, Towson, Georgetown, and Notre Dame (and the Irish got a seed???). That earns a no. 9 vote. (DallasLaxDad) — Stanford has the talent to be able to play multiple opponents tough, and they have the veteran leadership to make a deep run. Multiple scorers for the Cardinal will keep defenses on their toes. (draw18) — #17. Cardinal have but 2 QWs and end up with a JB score of -1. Shoot - should have gotten a Cardinal wlaxer in the business school to help me copyright my ranking system. (johnnyboy) — #20. A disappointing season for the Cardinal, methinks. (Lionwatcher) — #19 This team is a lot better than what they're playing. (LowD09) — #16. TreeIndianCards were cut, scalped, and folded in Denver this weekend. FINALLY, a new MPSF champ! Nice run, Stanford! Now, beat Duke! (Lucky Laxer) — #19. Stanford has had a solid season but certainly not as strong as I expected. The Cardinal grabs the #19 slot. (mytwokeepers) — #18. I like their chances against Duke, but the team that beat OSU, Harvard, Towson, Gtown, and ND needs to show up. (Palmtree) — #23. You are better than you show. I'm disappointed again. (Rafterjack) — #20. Cardinal finish on disappointing note. Duke next. (slides2) — #18. (Turtles Lax) — IndianCardTrees shown the path out of Top 20 by the Pioneers! (UnderArmourOdor)

Stony Brook: The Stony Brook/Towson match up should be a great one. The next round vs. Syracuse ... not so much. (Artemis3) — And the long awaited rematch goes to ... Stony Brook. #20. (D-Lax) — #11. Seawolves have 2 QWs thanks to Albany but a 0 JB score. (johnnyboy) — #16. Beat who they played. Thanks, LGL. (Lionwatcher) — #13. Congrats, SBU! Now what was that with Vermont? Who gives up one goal in the league championship game? Towson next. Howard Cosell will be calling it ringside. (Lucky Laxer) — #20. A decisive 7-1 win over Albany secures the #20 slot for Stony Brook. (mytwokeepers) — #22. (Palmtree) — #16. Impressive victory in conference final. Now go out there and continue to impress. IMPRESS! (Rafterjack) — #18. Seawolves leave no doubt in America East. (slides2) — #20. Against TL's better judgement ... and after fervent prayers were unanswered. Hey, lighten up; TL is not blasphemous. (Turtles Lax) — #18. “Joe Spallina insisted that the Seawolves would be back in the NCAA Tournament despite losing the heralded seven-player class of 2013 to graduation. He was right.” LGL too! (UnderArmourOdor)

Albany: Can't beat the Seawolves. #25. (D-Lax) — #20. Great Danes have no QWs therefore a -3 JB score. (johnnyboy) — #23. (Palmtree) — #19. Strong, strong season. (Rafterjack) — #23. Bad loss to Stony Brook dooms Danes. Probably the best team not invited. (slides2) — Big Dawgs don’t get back in the Top 20, don’t upset LGL, and don't win the AE tourney! (UnderArmourOdor)

Towson: CAA champions. #22. (D-Lax) — #24. Tigers get to NCAA with Colonial crown pass despite a -7 JB score. (johnnyboy) — #21. (LowD09) — #20. I almost made the mistake of omitting this fine team. Thanks, Bill for that last e-mail! I would be remiss to leave this team off. Congrats, Towson! Do Balmer proud; kick some LI butt! Make Larry angry! (Lucky Laxer) — #18. With the CAA victory over JMU, Towson grabs the #18 slot. (mytwokeepers) — #19. Might this be Stony Brook and Larry's swan song? (Palmtree) — #24. (Rafterjack) — #21. Squeak by JMU yet again. (slides2) — #16. Coach LaMonica just proved why she is CAA CoY. Well done, Tigers. (Turtles Lax) — #19. One group of Tigers stepped up to win a tourney (no such luck P-ton) so that gets them back in the Top 20 wearing a CAA crown. (UnderArmourOdor)

Georgetown: The only reason Georgetown gets on my ballot, at no. 19, is their early season wins at Princeton and Duke. Nothing else in their resume suggests the Hoyas are a ranked squad. (DallasLaxDad) — Georgetown has played one of the toughest schedules in the nation, and their ability to be resilient and multi-faceted has kept them playing into May. This is a battle-tested team that can make things happen. (draw18) — #23. Hoyas get 2 QWs but a final -4 on the JB scoring. (johnnyboy) — #20. This team was 3 and 7 just one month ago - thank god for the Big East. (Palmtree) — #21. (Rafterjack) — #22. Back in the tournament for no good reason. (slides2) — Hoyas Paranoia mounts as they were within a goal of getting back in Top 20 and NCAAs, but it wasn’t in the Cards! (UnderArmourOdor)

Canisius: #23. (LowD09) — #25. Win when they need to. (slides2) — #24. (Turtles Lax)

High Point: #20 It's called momentum. Ten straight wins. Last loss was by ONE to Duke April 2nd. That's right, welcome to my Top 20, Panthers. This team will not go silently into the NCAA tournament, watch out Notre Dame. (LowD09) — #23. (Turtles Lax) — Panthers are Big South champs. Still like their 9-10 loss to Duke! (UnderArmourOdor)

Other Teams Pollsters Considered (and comments, if any)

. Vermont: Vermont deserves a mention with a significantly improved performance this season, including the upset of Stony Brook. #21. (D-Lax)

. James Madison: Lose to Towson in OT of CAA championship game. #23. (D-Lax) — #21. Dukes played on the edge of TOPTM rankings all year but not getting by Towson twice puts JMU just outside my top 20. Two QWs give them a -4 JB score. (johnnyboy) — #22. (LowD09) — #22. (Rafterjack) — #24. Someday the Dukes will get the better of Towson, but not this year. (slides2) — #21. (Turtles Lax) — Dukes come within a goal of getting back in Top 20 and NCAAs, but it hurts worse than Hoyas Paranoia as it is in OT. (UnderArmourOdor)

. Harvard: Take Penn into OT and almost pull off the upset. #24. (D-Lax) — #25. (Palmtree) — #25. You were looking beyond Dartmouth but played well and hung in there versus Penn. Best season in a while. One to build on. (Rafterjack)

. Delaware State: Computer ranking of 103, including Hornets in my TOPTM rankings lets me explain JB rankings. Rank my top 20. Then re-rank according to JB score. QW = win over top 20 team and 2 pts, each loss, -1 point, -1 pt. for bad loss. JB can adjust for quality. (johnnyboy)

. Boston University:

. Bryant: #24. Go bulldogs!!! (Palmtree)

. Duquesne: #22. Double defeats doom Dukes. (Turtles Lax)
