"You Make The Call" Number 2

The following images represent, in chronological order, plays involving Syracuse junior midfielder Casey Powell. There are 19 plays and each play is designated by a number from 3 to 21. If more than one image depicts a play, then letters are used; e.g., 21a, 21b and 21c. The game was the 1997 NCAA Division I semifinal between Maryland and Syracuse. Syracuse eventually lost the game 18-17. Casey Powell took eight shots, scored four goals, committed two penalties, and drew eight Maryland penalties. Penalties were called on Maryland defenders: Senior defenseman Dave LaChapelle, Junior defenseman Mike Bonanni, Junior defenseman Brian Reese, and Sophomore midfielder Erik Osberg.

Was Maryland guilty of cheap shots or were they simply playing aggressive defense on Casey Powell -- arguably the premier player in college lacrosse? You make the call! If you wish to express an opinion (laf@laxpower.com), please reference the image(s) in your discussion.
