Typadis Nets Five as UMass Defeats St. Joe's, 9-5
AMHERST, Mass. - Led by five goals from junior attack Kathleen Typadis (Medfield, Mass.), the UMass women's lacrosse team used a dominant first half to take a 9-5 win over visiting Saint Joseph's on Friday afternoon at McGuirk Stadium. With five goals today, Typadis needs just five more to set the school's single-season goals scored record which has stood for the last 23 years. The Minutewomen led 7-1 at intermission against the league's second-best defensive unit. UMass will host La Salle on Sunday at McGuirk in the season finale. Prior to the game, UMass will honor its 2007 senior class of Lauren McCarthy (Derry, N.H.), Samantha Sepulveda (Freeport, N.Y.), and Erica Shapiro (Norfolk, Mass.). [full story]
