A team's performance at the end of the season is reflected in how many losses they experience in their final games. The trend factor represents the number of losses in the last five games played. So, if a team wins 3 and loses 2 in its final 5 games, the trend factor is 2. If a team wins all five games, its trend factor is 0. This factor is added to the total TSI score (where lower is better), so the higher the number, the higher the index and the lower the probability of being selected to the tournament.
